After 8.3 update, 5c no longer connects to wireless carrier!

After completing the 8.3 update, my iPhone 5c will no longer connect to my wireless carrier.  I cannot receive or send calls.  The only way I can text is if I'm connected to my WiFi. I took my phone to the store and they replaced the SIM card, which didn't help.  I was advised to come home, backup to iCloud, reset the phone to factory settings, and see if that helped.  I did that, and now I keep getting an error during phone setup saying "the activation server is temporarily unavailable."  Now what do I do?  They told me not to connect to iTunes on my computer because it could have stored "bad data" from a previous backup.  Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello RacerChick81,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The reason you were told to not plug in your iPhone into iTunes on your computer was to ensure you did not restore from a previous backup.  In this instance you will likely need to put your iPhone into recovery mode and the plug it in to your computer.  For further troubleshooting steps on this issue where you get an error that the activation server is unavailable, please follow the directions below.
Try these steps:
If your carrier provided a SIM card, make sure it's in your iPhone.
Restart the iPhone.
Try to reach the activation server another way, then try to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you can't activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you can't activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.
Check the system status for iOS Device Activation. If the iOS Device Activation status isn't green, try activating your iPhone later.
If you receive an alert message when you try to activate your iPhone, place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you still can't complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.
If you're asked to enter a password to proceed with activating the iPhone, Activation Lock might be enabled as part of Find my iPhone.

  • After recent apple update MBP will not connect to wireless internet

After running recent Security and Airport upgrades my Mac Book Pro (Intel) will not connect to wireless home router supplied by Verizon (GTE) and several public wi-fi's. Cannot get IP but sees networks. My iMac PPC still works fine. Prior to upgrade everything worked fine at home and abroad to other public wi-fi's. MBP still connects at work with AppleBase wireless. Can the upgrade be removed? Is there a simple fix? Should I wait for apple to fix this and break something else.... If not broken don't fix it..

    I'm having similar issues.
I have 2 MBP's. The newest one is about 1 month old and has never been able to connect to a WPA network. The older MBP is 20 months old and was originally installed with Tiger and gradually updated via Software Update and a retail copy of Leopard and subsequent Software Update updates to 10.5.2. Interestingly, this MBP was always able to access my WPA network until I decided to do an erase and install. I installed the retail copy of Leopard and was subsequently unable to access my WPA network. So, I went back to my Tiger install disks - but I'm guessing that whatever Leopard did *possibly* updated the firmware of the airport card as, even under Tiger, I could not access my WPA network (yes, I agree it seems unlikely that an OS update would/should update firmware but I am grasping at straws).
Trying to further understand the problem , I noted that the Network utility in System preferences would always show either a connection error or a connection timeout whenever I attempted to join my WPA network. I turned on syslog in my router and attempted to rejoin the network and saw the following errors:

  • TV no longer connects to wireless internet after installation of Airport Time Capsule

TV no longer connects to wireless Wi-Fi internet after installation of AirPort Time Capsule.

I am having a similar problem with a new TIme Capsule. The wifi on the Time Capsule was working fine for months with all devices, iPhone 4s, iPad Air, iMac Air, Mac mini, and vizio smart TVs.  After a recent software update the Time capsule wifi no longer connects to the smart tvs or the iPhones. It still connects to the mac mini, iPad and iMac Air. I do NOT think the software update timing was just coincidental. But I have not found any information or other users confirming a similar problem on the Apple support site.

After the last update is no longer contact to the internet or to whatsapp? What can I do with my iphone 5?

  • My iphone 4s and ipad 2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi but non-mac lap top has no issues

my iphone 4s and ipad2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi.
About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.

Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it.

  • Can no longer connect to wireless router after upgrading to iTunes 9.2

My wireless connection was fine (using MacBook). After upgrading iTunes, I can not longer connect to router/modem wirelessly - am tethered with an ethernet cable. Spent 1 1/2 hours on phone with AT&T support reseting the passwords, security, etc. A PC laptop accepts password and can connect. My iPhone still can connect. But my MacBook (OS X 10.6) will not recognize my password for the modem/router. Everything has been re-booted and reset to original settings. Also, I received an iPad yesterday and it won't accept the password for our home wireless network. The password is correct because I am using it on other devices that are connecting to the network. Any ideas?

Yes, but the issue is not with Lion directly; there seems to be something with the upgraded system, perhaps a legacy setting or pref... I've scoured the system to no avail. I'm actually about to reinstall 10.6 - wasted too much time on this issue.
    Thanks for your help.

If you mean you are having trouble activating your iPhone after
    updating to iOS 6:
    iOS 6.0.1
Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
My phone is from USA and unlocked version and I paid 750 USD.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?

What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
I used BSNL - India previously. After I get problem, I used Mobily -Saudi Arabia again I got problem and I am trying to use Airtel - India.

  • HT202157 After the latest update I no longer get Netflix

After the latest apple tv update I no longer amable to open Netflix. Any ideas? Already tried reboot

I had already attempted that. After a day with no changes I finally reset the apple tv to factory settings. I of course had to reload all my personal settings, IDs password etc. Netflix works again. Must be an issue apple has with the latest upgrade that added History channnel, A & E along with a few others.

  • Ios 8.3 update means no longer connecting to wi-fi on iPhone 5s

Ever since upgrading to ios 8.3 my iPhone 5S no longer connects to my own wi-fi while IN MY HOUSE AT ALL, it won't even FIND IT - this is completely unacceptable and I've already incurred extra data charges because of this! I have tried all the work-arounds and none work, I could be sitting beside my router and it won't find it meanwhile none of my other products (iMac, Apple TV, iPad are having this issue).  I have to resort to putting my phone on Airplane mode to avoid getting charged extra fees - this is just not acceptable, Apple needs to address this ASAP and forgo giving me more EMOJI's - I mean really?  This is the hugest fail I've experienced with Apple but it's a huge one... when your errors start costing me more money or making it so I can't even leave my phone on in case my daughter's daycare calls that's not fair nor acceptable.  I've seen a whole slew of threads with the same issue and still no statement from Apple, your image brand and it's messaging are no longer aligning together... this is not the legacy Steve Jobs wanted to leave behind I'm sure.

I spoke to Vodafone and they just said to send it in for repair. 5-7 working days, hmmm.
Has nobody got any ideas on this?
Today things have changed a little. Now what happens is that the wi-fi symbol comes up on the status bar, but when I try to load a page in Safari, it just says 'connecting' for a while, then the wi-fi symbol goes off and the GPRS circle comes back.
    Thanks.

  • IBook can no longer connect to wireless network

I have a wireless network set up in my home using a Linksys wireless router. While it has worked fine in the past, I can no longer connect to it with my G4 iBook running 10.3.9. It shows up in my network connections with a strong signal but when I open a browser it can't connect to the internet. When I try to open 'Internet Connect' to explore the issue I get the spinning beach ball and have to Force Quit. When I open the network status window, I get a message for Airport that says "Airport is connected to the network 'name of my network'. Airport does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet".
I have an iMac G5 connected to the router through ethernet cable and it works fine. I have an iMac G4 connected wirelessly to the same wireless router and it works fine. I have a Dell laptop that can also connect wirelessly to the wireless router with no problem.
It appears something is corrupt with the Internet Connect utility?
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Doug

What type of IP address are you getting? If it starts with 169, it indicates that your iBook can not connect to the DHCP server provided by the router.
Have you enabled the MAC address filtering on the router? If so, remember that you must add the AirPort MAC address for your iBook.
If you have a correct IP address, perhaps it is a DNS issue. See KB 106798, Mac OS: Troubleshooting "A connection failure has occurred", "The specified server could not be found" or Similar Messages.

  • HP Photosmart B209a no longer connecting to wireless since modem/router change

I recently had to change from a Motorola Surfboard modem and Netgear router (both at least 5 years old). The new modem/router combo is a C3700 Docsis 3.0. My HP Photosmart Plus printer model B209a no longer connects to the wireless network.  I've tried both push button and pin. I get a WPS failed to connect. When I print network settings my network is listed but the printer shows as being offline with no active conection . Firmware is EIL1FNO926AR and shows up as the latest revision for the printer. Under 802.11 Wireless the mac address is given and status is disconnected.  By the way, the printer and modem/router are approximately 3 feet apart on the same desk.
Any ideas as to what to do to get my printer back online or is incompatible with the new modem/router?
