After 9 months of iweb blogging, "creating Page" takes 15 minutes...

I post every day with a few paragraphs and 5 to 8 photos. It used to take only a few seconds to "create page" and publish, but as my archives and blog grows larger day by day, its now taking 15 minutes and the hard drive is working like crazy the whole time. Is this normal? what happens after my blog is two years old and even bigger in archives... an hour to create page? Is there a maintenance thing i can do like scan disc to get every thing grouped together on the HD. or is the problem the growing archive file... thanks geniuses, Bobbie J.

one more problem... after 10 months of iweb blogging, "creating Page" takes 15 to 20 minutes. once it get to the publish stage, it goes as fast as ever... less than a minute. But with each passing month it takes longer to publish because of the lengthening time it takes to "create page".
    Ideas?
    thanks, bobbie J.

  • Font changes on Blog main page

    Hi everyone!
Does any of you know if it is possible, on iWeb Blog main page, to modify the other posts than the first one ? I lowered the size of the text in my posts when editing them, but when appearing on the main page of the blog, they get bigger and it is impossible to edit then.
    Thanks for any help !

Ok, sorry, solution found in the threads at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2420252&#2420252.
    Thanks anyhow !

  • The sc command, (service control manager), takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds to create a service on Windows 8.1. and 2012R2

Unique circumstance: SC create This takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds on one domain when
using Windows 8.1 & 2012R2.  We have two domains:  D1.com
and D2.D1.com.  If we place a Windows 8.1 or 2012R2 VM on the D2.D1.com
domain and run the sc command to create a service using a D2.D1.com domain
account it will take 3 minutes and 30 seconds to create the service.  It
will create the service successfully, but will take 3 minutes and 30
seconds.  If we use the sc command to create a service using the obj=
parameter and use an account which is a member of the D1.com domain as the
parameter, the service is created immediately. Note: using a windows 8 VM
on D2.D1.com domain it does not exhibit the same behavior.  Also note that
placing a Windows 8.1 VM on the D1.com domain does not exhibit the same
behavior as well.  Consequently, this leads us to believe that the sc
command is timing out on the validation of the domain account and then using a
different validation method which is successful.<o:p></o:p>
    Commands
    used:<o:p></o:p>
sc create test binpath= C:\windows\test.exe   (logged in as D2.D1.com
    user)    <o:p></o:p>
    sc create test binpath= C:\windows\test.exe obj= D1\username password= something<o:p></o:p>

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, when you run sc command to create service, it takes long time, but when use sc command to delete the service, it runs fast. right? If so, the issue should be related with the command you used.
I also would like to suggest you refer to the below link to use sc to create service, we may also post in the MSDN forum:

  • P2035 takes 2 minutes to print each page

2035 printer and a Windows 7 computer.  First page prints normally.  Each Additional page takes 2 minutes to print. I have unplugged the printer and downloaded every available driver update.  The toner is a new HP unit.  Any ideas?

Exactly same problem. Printer connected via net. With usb connection - no problem.
For temporary solution i turn on "quiet mode", then print goes slowly, but without pause.
UPD In other forum said, that this problem occur only with A5 format. And this is not a problem, this is automaticly protection of printer.

  • How to Publish old iweb blog saved in pages?

I have a series of blogs created in an early version of iweb. I saved them to my desktop in a folder in a Pages format. If I want to export them to iweb 09 to eventually publish them to machighway (since mobileme is "dying").  There are two choices from which to select:PDF and one other the name of which I forget. What is my best choice? In order to publish I need to get these files into iweb (I believe). They also exist as a web archive, which I can open but which I do not know how to handle beyond that. I really want to preserve (maybe share) these memoirs. Any ideas? I am running snow leopard on my imac and have pages 09.

You could export them as PDFs and make them available for download...

  • Could an iWeb blog page be modified to...

...parse wordpress entries so that they appear "iWeb'sh" even though being created and maintained in Wordpress?

I'm having similar problems with the automatic RSS Feed link that the iWeb blog page uses.
I also figured I could create my own custom RSS icon/link for the page, but that still doesn't resolve the issue for the RSS Feed link that is automatically generated by the Firefox or Safari browsers I'm online with a MobileMe Support rep now (crossed fingers)

  • Sites and Blogs created in iWeb...

Does anyone know of a link to view sites and blogs created solely by iWeb? I'm curious to see others' creations.

Here is a discussion where people post their sites created with iWeb '08
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1094805&tstart=100
and here a webpage where you can find links to iWeb created pages

  • Using native iWeb to create an index of blog entries

While not entirely what I had in mind, by linking together pages that themselves have internal links to my blog entries, I have created a passable blog index. My site is still new, but as I blog more material, I wanted a way to group the pages by categories. The top down blog archive that is provided out of the box was just not going to work for me.
This approach has an added benefit. Since the pages from the index are linked via html, the blog pages can be found via the google sitecrawler engines. (note my home page directory is also html rather than the native iWeb index). I use a sitemap already, so this feature is not terribly important to me. But it might help you if you haven't sorted out sitemaps yet.
This does require that I update the index page(s) every time I add a blog entry.
Hope you guys find this useful.

Terry ~ You followed Nitsa's apparently good example on hosting, but not on blogging — she uses WordPress rather than iWeb:
    http://nonphotography.com/blog
...Problems with iWeb's blog are a recurring theme on these discussions as it's not a serious blogging platform. And with multiple iWeb blogs within your site, you're multiplying your chances of having problems. Also, as you add entries to your blog(s), opening your site in iWeb and backing up its Domain file will become slower and slower. Plus, when you eventually have to re-publish your entire iWeb site, you may have a long wait for the upload to finish.
The following old thread was started by someone who suspected iWeb's blog would not be robust enough and, like Nitsa, wisely built their blog in WordPress:
_To blog or not to blog_
As mentioned there, some of WordPress's themes provide tabs — which you could use to categorize posts, e.g.
    http://mistylook.org
And as an alternative to setting up a basic hyperlink to your external blog, there's a way to link to it from iWeb's navigation bar.

  • Can I update a blog created in iWeb from another computer?

    Hello Forum,
While I am away from my office base, I would like to update my blog (created using iWeb) from another computer. I have a dotmac account.
I thought doing this should pose no problems, but I simply can't figure it out.....
Hope someone can help me out on this one.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Greg

When you go to .mac and log in, you should see stories there regarding the features of .mac. One of the recent ones (should still be on the front page) is Tech note: Using iWeb on more than one Mac
    Underneath this header, you'll find
"All you need to do is quit iWeb (if it’s open), locate the domain.sites file (Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites), and move it to wherever you’re going to use it. Then double-click the file in its new location. iWeb will launch, and you’re done. From then on, iWeb will automatically save your work in the new location, and you’ll be able to publish your site from any Mac that has access to it.
So, if your domain.sites is small enough to fit on your iDisk, you could keep a copy there and use it from any computer that has iWeb 1.1 or later installed to update your blog.

  • After 24 hours, my iweb pages finally posted!  Is it me? Iweb? Mobileme?

After 24 hours, my iweb pages finally posted! Is it me? Iweb? Mobileme? All the above? I'd really like to know before my family kills me for tying up all of our bandwidth for the entire day again. Yes besides taking forever to upload, the process seems to have halted my entire home network.
I spent an hour on the phone with apple today (103297246) to have tech one say it was mobile me and tech two say it was iweb. I called time warner to see if they had throttled down my internet because I was uploading-LOL getting an answer there.
I may be the problem. To add my albums to iweb, I just dragged them to an album page on iweb. Here is an example:
    http://web.me.com/tedcarlos/Friends/Friends/Friends.html
I am wondering if I should have clicked the iweb button to do this when I wanted to take them out of iphoto and put them in iweb? In the past doing this with movies to iDVD has been sooo time consuming I thought dragging would be easier and that iweb would scale them accordingly. Anyone know anything about this?
Another question I have is about iweb. Why does the thing offer to upload part of your iweb sites at a time, but when it actually begins the process, it appears to upload everything? Apple had no explanation for this except to say they were working on it. Could this be the source of the slowdown?
Another thought is iweb's interface with mobile me. Could it just be off? Could I just publish my sites to folder and then drag to my idisc? If so does it take everything?
Any help of thoughts on these subjects would be most appreciated. Thank's
    Theo

I usually apply some common sense before calling support.
I also prepare my stuff before publishing it.
So, after some assumptions and using the calculator:
    418 photos @ 0.350MB a piece = 146MB
    29 movies @ 15MB a piece = 435MB
    Total = 581MB = 0.5GB
That takes some time. No need for support, just patience.
Also, it's good practice not to dump everything from the camera straight on the page. Especially AVI movies do not work well in webpages.
    Magic word: iMovie
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I attach a PDF file on an iWeb created page?

How can I attach a PDF file on an iWeb created page so that person can click the link and open the file.  I have a website for my Labradors and would like something that will link from the dogs web page to their pedigree.  TIA.

Make a link to your pdf file.

Project deleted in iPhoto 11 ver. 9.1.1
After spending three months building a twenty six page Book Project in iPhoto i added a page and later decided to delete the page. I selected the page, pressed the delete key and confirmed the delete dialog box ( i didn't read, dummy) by pressing the delete button. The whole project was gone, the undo menu was grayed out and there was nothing in the iPhoto trash about my Book.
Surly I can find this if I knew the path to find the project in a library on a back column I have of my hard drive.. Could anyone help me?

Sorry I'm having a hard time getting this.
If I go to my hard drive BIGMAC>Library>Application Support>iPhoto>the only thing in this folder is Themes.
However, when I "Get Info" it's 580MB for 24,421 items. iPhoto says I have 35,977 photos. I would think the database would be into the GB for this many photos.
If I go to BIGMAC>system>Library>I find nothing about iPhoto
Is the iPhoto file in the Application Support the one I need to replace with my backup?
Thanks so much for your help.

  • IWeb blog new entry not showing up after uploading

I have a blog on my iWeb website and the first entry uploaded just fine, but when I added a new entry it wouldn't upload and it didn't appear to have a file. Everything looked good in the iWeb app, its summary showed up on the blog title page, the entry was there on the entry page and it was also in the archive. Could it have anything to do with the fact I've entered google adsense code to the page?

I've discovered that the problem is that there is no new file for the new blog entry. The other blog entry was published to the site folder before I was online but now when I hit the publish button it goes straight to uploading to my site, and the new entry doesn't show up as it has no file in the folder. How can I get it to publish to the folder before it uploads?

  • IWeb re-creates too many pages

I understand the difference between "Publish" and "Publish All", but what I don't understand is why iWeb re-creates so many pages when I "Publish". If I work on three pages and then simply "Publish", the darn thing spends five minutes re-creating those three and a half-dozen other pages I didn't touch. Not the end of the world, but kind of annoying.
Is there something I can do to eliminate this, or can someone at least help me understand why I am sitting and watching iWeb spin it's wheels for so long?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    The strange thing is that:
Even when the new page you are working on is in another site in iWeb the publish feature goes through some long process. While no files in the other sites are changed they are 'checked one by one,' making the publish process more tedious than it has to be.
Since the nav bar is a part of the html code all pages in the site you add a page to must be modified. If you don't wish this to happen uncheck the checkboxes in the Inspector:
    1. Select the page and Open the Inspector
    2. Click on the page icon.
    3. uncheck 'include this page in the navigation menu.' and 'display navigation menu'
iWeb makes it very easy to create your own nav menu. Just type in some text and select it. Then open the Inspector and click on the hyperlink icon. (Arrow icon) and select 'enable as hyperlink' From the pull down menu choose one of your pages in your site.
