While installing Acrobat XI Pro, the installation automatically rolls back and I get the message "The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (11.0.07) could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again." How to resolve it.
How do I modify the system.

    Hi Rgardezi,
The only reason why Acrobat installation fails and throw this error message is when there are some services running in the background causing the installer not to complete the installation. My take is try the following steps and suggest if you were able to install the products or not :
    1) Navigate to control panel and confirm that there is no line Item that talks about Acrobat. If you see Acrobat XI listed there, please remove them.
    2) Perform a selective Start up using the steps mentioned in this link.
Please suggest if the above mentioned steps were able to resolve the query for you or not.

  • How do I restore mail from Time Machine after a clean Yosemite install?

I've been having various performance issues with my iMac recently (wifi keeps dropping off, scan functionality on my multifunction printer stopped working, whole system periodically hangs) so decided to do a clean install of Yosemite. I also have a MacBook Air, also running Yosemite, and on which I have no issues with the wifi, printer or system performance.
Before doing the clean install, I made sure I had a current Time Machine backup. The process appears to have worked so far, but I have run into an issue restoring my mail. I think it best if I describe how I have restored my documents and then I can show at what point I run into a problem.
To restore documents, I opened Time Machine, used the keyboard shortcut command-shift-C to show the backups prior to the clean install, and then selected the documents I wanted to restore. This was simple and worked perfectly.
To restore my mail, I opened Mail, selected 'Enter Time Machine' from the shortcut menu at the top of the screen and then used the keyboard shortcut command-shift-C to show the backups prior to the clean install. This is where I got stuck as command-shift-C is a default shortcut in Mail that shows the colours dialog box. Hence I have been unable to view the correct backup. The backup I want is listed on the right hand side of the screen in Time Machine, but I can't work out how to select it.
I thought changing the shortcut in Mail might work, but I couldn't find a way to do that either since it is not listed in the Keyboard section of System Preferences.
    Any ideas gratefully received.

    Hey there,
It sounds like you're still having trouble exposing the proper library folder. You can use the following terminal command to do it globally (this will show all hidden files)
Open Terminal from your appliications folder and copy/paste this into it:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE (press return)
**After that last line you'll need to restart the finder so use:
    killall Finder (press return)
Now if you enter Time Machine the correct Library should be visible. To re-hide your hidden files repeat the process above but replace TRUE with FALSE, then use the "killall Finder" again.
I agree with the commenters above, you should restore the Mail library to the desktop and then re-import it to Mail. This is how I was instructed to solve this problem by Mac help, who I chatted with online for quite a while before they figured it out.
    Hope this helps

  • No backup possible, even after a clean re-install

    I - NEED - HELP!!!
This is what happens before I encountered my problems with backing up my hard drive:
I'm using a MacBook Pro 17" Unibody. The hard drive was partitioned into two partitions. The first one was the bootcamp partition, 50 GBytes in size, running Windows 7 Ultimate. The second partition was the Mac OS X partition, 450 GBytes in size and running Mac OS X 10.6.4.
I had to change the size of the bootcamp partition due to a Windows game installation. For this I bought an used "CampTune 8.0" from Paragon Software. The repartitioning using "CampTune" didn't report any errors so I assumed everything was fine. But then I saw the slow dying of a Mac:
Trying to boot into Windows lead to the error message the the installation was damaged and I should repair it using the repair option of the Windows install DVD. I did as I told but was always caught in the startup loop:
    "1. Insert install DVD
    2. Restart your computer
    3. Choose the repair option"
Trying to boot into Mac OS X shows a strange behaviour ranging from getting stuck in file system checking up to not being able to log in as normal user. Instead I was only able to log in as administrator. And when I was able to log in, there where more and more kernel panics during access to all kinds of volumes (internal hard drive, external USB hard drives, USB sticks...)
Fortunately I was able to save (NOT backup) my users home folder by hand.
And now the strange things started...
I decided to do a clean install of my Mac OS X 10.6.4 and all of my applications. For that I repartitioned the internal hard drive to one partition, chose the GUID-patition table, then formatted the drive using the option "overwrite with zeros".
Then I installed my Mac OS X and the applications and tried to do a bootable backup to an external USB hard drive. This drive I had partitioned with one partition, GUID-partition table and formatted it also using the option "overwrite with zeros".
I used the software "Data Backup 3" from ProSoft Engineering. But during backup there was a kernel panic and after that the B-tree of my internal drive was corrupted. I couldn't be repaired by Mac OS X. But the internal drive was still readable.
I tried again and again with "Data Backup 3", always ending in a kernel panic. But the active thread always was different (sometimes it was launchd, CleanApp deamon, Kasperskys kav deamon) without a repeating pattern.
I was able to make a backup using "Carbon Copy Clone 3.3", fortunately, and started from the backup. After that I used "TechToolPro 5.0.7" to find out if there were surface errors or problems in the directory structure. But even "TechToolPro" caused a kernel panic when accessing the hard drive...
To restore the contents of my external drive to the internal one I used "SmartBackup 3" from Solesignal Ltd. because I thought "Data Backup 3" caused the kernal panics. But it was the same with "SmartBackup 3": accessing the hard drives during backup causes kernel panics...
My last idea then was to use the restore function of Apples disk utility. And it worked. But when I copied the contents of my saved user home folder, I caused a kernel panic when the size of data copied exceeds more then approximately 80 GBytes. And after that the B-tree of my backup drive was corrupted.
This all is strange to me, because I installed a fresh system.
Does anyone encountered similar problems using backup software? And is there a solution for this?
    Regards
    Ansgar

  • IMac randomly booting into "safe boot" mode after a clean installation of OS X Lion 10.7 (??)

Is anyone else having problems with their Mac (running a clean installation of OS X Lion 10.7) randomly booting into "safe boot" mode after a restart or shut down?
(Indicators being: seeing the login screen even when "automatic login" is enabled, the proper video drivers not loading - indicated by laggy desktop animations, WiFi not working properly, Menu Bar icons that normally show - not showing, etc.)
**Note: I migrated from a Snow Leopard Time Machine backup, but did not import "Settings". I thought this would be the best way to keep from encountering any issues with 10.6/10.7 incompatibility.

Found this answer from another user. THE EXACT THING HAPPENS TO ME:
Its really annoying Apple hasn't fix it.
    =================
    I think i got it :
The progressbar while booting ( booting in safe-mode ) came from the wireless keybord and is reproduceable.
At evening I shut down my iMac an put off my mouse and keyboard. To startup I put on the iMac and immediatly after I switch on keyboard and mouse. In tihs case the keyboards sends some event wich leads to safe-mode.
Know I wait until I switch on the keyboard. In my opinion this is a bug, i can live this way but i hope it will be fixed.
I will know take a look at it while not switching off the keybord, power consumption should be acceptable

  • How can I get my iTunes to start up after a clean re-install?

Following the corruption of many of my Applications and Files, I had to have a Clean Re-install done.
That solved most of the problems, but when I try to start iTunes it comes up with the iTunes Software Licence Agreement.
When I click on Agree, I get the message "The File 'iTunes Library' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. That's it.
Do I try update my current iTunes 6.0.2, or what?
Your help in solving this problem would be much appreciated.

I can only speak from a Windows perspective.
Have you tried uninstalling Itunes, then uninstall quicktime and reinstalling both ?
if you log onto the pc as another user does itunes work then ? if so quicktime and itunes are fine and it's something specific to the user.
Try finding the itunes library (for vista c:\users\users name\music\itunes most likely), this is where your music is going to be along with what seems to be configuation files for itunes for that user. Try renaming.
    Does Itunes work then ?

  • USB port gone after ejecting external HDD

    All software uptodate.
I have strange issue with USB ports. After ejecting USB drive (external HDD, powered by USB bus), which worked perfectly, USB port does not recognize anything, nor providing power. Turning MBP off and then booting back solves this issue.
    Any ideas?

After some time I connected external HDD to "dead" port again. And got power. But still no devices recognized on this port. For example: iPad does not charge, not recognized.

  • I have followed Apple support Article HT4527 for moving itunes but have insufficient space on my new PC for the complete library of.  How can I leave music on the external HDD but associate the content on my external HDD with my pc itunes when it is open?

I have followed the Apple Support Section Article HT 4527 and have moved itunes media onto an external Hard Drive.  The complete file is 103GB in size.
I have downloaded the latest itunes onto my new PC.
When I follow the article and try moving the itunes file onto the new PC, I am informed that there is insufficient space on my new PC.
In any case, like my old system, I want to leave my music on the external HDD and just have the music library displayed in itunes when I click on the "Music" folder.
How can I get itunes on the new computer to interogate my external HDD to just list the library and leave the music on the external HDD?

you can do this by keeping the external hard drive connected and doing the following
-hold shift key down on computer while opening iTunes and a prompt will appear to choose a library
-select choose library, iTunes should bring up your explorer windows where you can search for the external HD
-after you find the external HD find the iTunes folder you just copied to it
-after opening the iTunes folder look for the file that says iTunes library.itl or if you can't see that extenstion just look for a document looking thing in the iTunes folder that shows up as a database file
-double click the database file and boom iTunes should load your library without having to copy it to the computer
PS: do make sure that if you are going to do it this way, make sure that the external HD is connected at all times, because if you don't then you will get exclamation marks next to your iTunes songs
double PS: if you are unsure how to find out if the iTunes library file is a database file just right click it and choose properties and under the type it should say database file
    hope this helps:)

  • How can i make the volume controller on a pavillion dv4 work after a clean windows install?

    Hello!
Recently I performed a clean windows 7 install from a windows install disk I previously owned, the problem is that this disk didn't intalled the drivers and programs specific for this computer. What I want to know is which driver or program I need to install to make the volume controller on my computer to work again? The problem is that the volume bar that previously appeared on the screen and the "bing" sound indicating the volume level doesn't appear or sound now.
All other things seem to work fine, this is the only problem so far.
    Thanks!

  • Reacquiring Tiger Settings, etc.  After a Clean Leopard Install?

I had to run a clean install of Leopard. Old Bookmarks, Keychain, Library, etc. data is still on an external drive. I understand Migration Assistant functions only with other computers. Do I have to drag folders/documents one-by-one from the old Library and other folders? It's a huge task, and I fear I'm going to screw something up.

If you had to do a clean install because you were having problems, you're safest to copy as little as possible from your previous installation. Anything that's easy to re-create, do so. For example, your Keychain just contains passwords that you should already know, so it's easy to re-create. (Unless you've added some custom certificates or stuff like that.)
For Safari bookmarks, just copy Bookmarks.plist from ~/Library/Safari/ (where the '~' means "your user folder") in the old system to the new. Keychains, if you do want to copy them, are in ~/Library/Keychains/. If you use Mail, all those settings and mail will be in ~/Library/Mail/.
Things are actually fairly straightforward, as long as you don't try to do something like copy the entire ~/Library folder over, which you should not do. Don't try to copy any applications that required installation (as opposed to just dragging them into the Applications folder), just reinstall them. (You may be able to copy over the corresponding folder in ~/Library/Application Support/, but that won't work in all cases.)
    Good luck!

  • I can't install OS x lion, The software could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading.

I can't intall the OS lion. is show me this message, The software could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading.?

I encountered the same error "…can't be verified…" error on my 2010 MBP too. Tried six times and finally I could get it installed. Here's what I did:
Went to "Users & Groups" in System Preferences, checked that the Apple ID specified for the current user is the same Apple ID I used in the download purchase of ML from the App Store.
    Rebooted in Safe Mode.
Went to Disk Utility -> Repair Disk Permissions
Downloaded ML at midnight (and the download was significantly faster!)
    Rebooted in Normal Mode.
    Ran the ML Installer.
