After a disk crash and recovery disk reload, I'm left w/o address book. any suggestions for a recovery?
There is a discontinuity in time machine, I think it happened last week. I've used the recovery disk partition and time machine, as well as Super
Duper. The time machine full restore left addressbook and mail disfunctional. I then ran Super
duper, which recovered Mail, but not address book
Any suggestions? BTW, as far as I know, the data for address book is still in the Library, it'"s only the app that's Missing
Thanks for your reply John, but that didn't do the trick for me. I called Apple's professional audio support. Even though I didn't get the answer I wanted to hear, the support was awesome - the guy was very knowledgeable and helpful. Basically, the error I'm experiencing is a nasty one if it appears with pro apps like Logic. He indicated my only recourse was to re-install Logic. Since I'm on Logic 7, I figured if I have to re-install, might as well upgrade to Logic 8. I'm mid-project right now, so I'm pretty nervous doing that, but not much choice.

I need to get internet to both the house and my office, which is in a separate building approx 20m from the house. I was advised by Apple to buy an Airport Express, set it up on one or other building, and connect wirelessly to the other. Tried that, but couldn't get a reliable signal.
I was then advised to buy another Airport Express and use it as an expander in the other building. Trouble is, i can't get a reliable wireless signal between the two Expresses, so it keeps dropping the connection, and is slow when it is connected.
I rang Apple again and was told that i could try a third Airport Express between the two existing ones, but that is impossible as there is only outdoors between the two.
It would be very difficult and expensive to get an ethernet cable between the two buildings (have to cut through concrete etc), and I see from the discussion forums that an Airport Extreme has the same wireless signal as an Express, so replacing one of the Expresses with an Extreme seems unlikely to resolve the problem. Can anyone think of any other options?The Powerline adapters mentioned by edex67 are your only hope if you cannot run an Ethernet cable.
Even if the home and office are on the same electrical circuit, you won't really know how well the Powerline adapters might work until you actually try them out at your location.
For that reason, it would be a good idea to understand the store's return policy before you buy. -

I keep getting this message, I decided to delete whatever I can to free up some space. Then I get my few GBs I have left on the startup disk. Then after a day, I get the message again. I check the startup disk size and notice I have "zero kb" left. ??????
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
Restart your Mac after freeing up disk space then check Stoage again.
Another way to view avialable space:
Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop then click Get Info.
In the Get Info panel you'll see: Available & Capacity
Again, make sure there's at least 15% free disk space. -
My computer crashed and I cant reload firefox.. I have tried the task manager and deleting uninstalling and installing program again. I click on icon and nothing appears although it appears to start and is running in task manager, but the browser wont open.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Time Machine Locked after MacBook Air reformatted. My MacBook Air was overfull due to an Address book issue (duplication) so after many attempts to clear space, I ended up wiping out the system and reloading Lion. This resulted in the Time Machine thinking that it was now connected to a different computer. Apparently this diables the existing information.
Now I can see that the back-ups exist (back to Sept 2012) but they are greyed out, therefore unavailale to restore. Again, this seems like an issue that shouldn't be happening. The whole point of the Time Machine is to enable reinstatement of data after catastrophic failure. What if my computer actually had to be replaced due to a hardware issue? How would I beableto restore anything?
The path already (unsuccessfully) taken;
Open Library on the computer, Open Time Machine, Select Correct date, drill down to correct data you wish to restore, click "Restore".

See if this works for you.
Open up Tools > Options -> General and toggle the first preference - '''Allow Firefox Developer Edition and Firefox to run at the same time''' - to get back to your previous Aurora Profile. It will tell you to restart Firefox.
If there's a check-mark in the box for that pref it shows the Aurora Profile, if you remove that check-mark it shows the Developer Edition Profile. -

How do I recover a Muse site that was uploaded to Business Catalyst back to my computer after my system crashed and I've lost the files?
Regardless of being in development or not, "Captain Obvious" is is correct and the working .muse file is lost, meaning that you will have to start again from scratch.
All the BC will contain is the published HTML and support files, not the .muse file which you would require to recover the site design.
Might want to look into Time Machine or another automatic, timed backup source while you work. -
I have a an imac with Lion OS x software 10.7.5. The built in DVD player will no longer play dvd's and it says its an unsupported disc. I have done a risk disk permissions and verify disk and both say ok.
I haven't changed any settings regarding region codesYou may have run discs from different regions,these would be commercial DVDs. If so most DVD players need to be told what region the disc is from. Have you done this by chance, if you are not sure look at the region numbers listed on the commerical DVDs you have and see if some use different numbers.

I tried to run "Verify Disk Permissions" and "Repair Disk Permissions" on an external partition, but they all grayed out! "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk" were fine! The "Owners Enabled" is "Yes". Why they were grayed out ?!

owner by "admin", and the rest partitions (OK to veryify pewrmissions) are owner
by "system". ANY CLUE ?

I booted up the Leopard 10.5.5 server from the Install Disc, and tried to do disk checks on all drives using Disk Utility.
When the system drive was selected all the "Verify Disk", "Repair Disk", "Verify Disk Permission" and "Repair Disk Permission" functions are able to perform, however, if the non-system drives are selected only "Verify Disk" and "Repair Disk" are able to perform, the "Verify Disk Permission" and "Repair Disk Permission" are GRAYED OUT ! and UNABLE TO perform the permission check and repair!!
