After adding 5 pictures the file size is 10x bigger

Hello,
I designed a web site and added 7 pictures (all together 800kb) with layer stack and blending options.
The svg file was 320kb now it' apx. 6mb ...
how to get the file smaller?
Greetings
mamut

You can scale down images to make the file sizes lighter.
Are you using the Clipping Frame (Insert > Media Objects > Clipping Frame) to add images to your file? If so, follow these steps to resize an image. If you are just working with an image in the workspace, without the clipping frames, just use steps 5 and 6 to downsample an image.
1. Double-click on a clipping frame image to enter into editing mode. The percentage indicator on the sliding magnification bar will tell you if the source image is large (12% is a very large image!).
2. Ensure the image is selected and click the Copy button.
3. Exit image editing mode by returning to the Sheet level by clicking in the document breadcrumb.
4. Paste the image into the document. It will be very big on the stage.
5. Scale down the down to a smaller size by grabbing a corner handle and scaling the image, or using Transform and adjusting the WIDTH AND HEIGHT percentages. (Conveniently, if you input 12% into the Width or Height box (while keeping the Lock Aspect Ratio option selected) the image scales down to the same size as the clipping frame you were using previously.)
6. Double-click the image again to enter into Bitmap Image mode and select Transform > Downsample to Screen.
7. Select the image and click the Copy button, then delete the image from the stage.
8. Double-click to get back into your clipping frame.
9. Select the image already in the frame, and delete it.
10. Click the Paste button to insert the new image into the clipping frame. It should display a better percentage such as 98 or 100%.
11. Save the file. You should find the file size to be much smaller now.
OK, looking over that now it is quite the list of things to do to optimize images for the screen. Hopefully there will be an easier way to downsample or optimize images for screen and print in the next coming releases.

  • Why is the file size increasing when cropping in Photoshop CC?

    While cropping a picture the file size is increasing dramatically.
    An image 7360 X 4912 px (Image size : 103,4M) after cropping to 60 X 40 cm 300 px, goes up to an image of 18000 X 12000 px (Image size : 618,0 M). And the computer is unable to cope with such a file...
    It wasn't like that when I first started to use the program.
    I crop the same image using CS5 and the result is an image of 7087 X 4724 px (Image size : 95,8 M) which is normal...
    Will aprreciate help...

    Thanks for replying. First I didn't have this problem in the beginning. I do the same in CS5 and I can do it with no problem.

  • How do I reduce the file size of my pictures

    I am running out of space on my hard drive and notice that my iphoto library contains over 5000 pictures and is about 15GB.  This is about 3MB per picture.  I checked and lots are over 10MB.  Most pictures I only print in 10x15, the largest i ever printed was A4 sized. I guess i don't need to keep such large files.  These cameras are now set to make pictures with too many pixels I guess...
    does anyone know of a way to reduce the size of all my picture files?
    thanks
    p

    1. Reducing the file sizes of your pictures will not just reduce their quality when you print, it wll also negatively affect their quality no matter how you view them. Remember the screen quality on your next mac will be better than this one, and even more so on the one after.
    2. The simplest solution to a size issue is to store the Library on an external disk, You can do this with iTunes and iMovie too.
    3. If you really want to reduce the quality of your photos then there is no way to do that in iPhoto. Here's what you'd have to do:
    Export the Pics from iPhoto (File -> Export) and in the Export dialogue make your choices on Jpeg Quality (the amount of compression used) and size (the dimensions)
    Delete the pics from iPhoto
    Import the ones who have exported back to iPhoto.
    Give away your camera and get a lower quality one

  • How do i reduce the file size of a picture?

    I am trying to reduce the file size of a picture?  It is 1.7MB and I need it to be smaller.
    Help?

    File -> Export
    The two settings that most affect the filesize are Jpeg Quality and Size.

    has details of the options in the Export dialogue.

  • I've exported my pages graphics document as a PDF file and can't seem to reduce the file size without compromising the quality of the photo's used even after choosing "best" quality.  I'm trying to send the file via e-mail but it's too big.  ??????

    I am trying to e-mail a graphics pages document I made as a PDF file.  After trying to resize the file, the photo's quality is compromised (really blurry) even after choosing "Best" quality.  What am I doing wrong.  As a regular full sized file (PDF) it's fine, but when it gets reduced, it's bad and it needs to get printed from the e-mail copy I'm trying to send.  HELP! Please.

    If there are a lot and/or large images the file will inevitably be large, no matter what.
    You can reduce them down as far as possible by cropping and scaling them to the final size before creating the pdf. You can do this by opening the images in Preview .app and using Menu > Tools to reduce the resolution and to crop.
    If you have used transparency effects eg shadow, reflection, transparency, 3D charts, OSX will by default render these at 72dpi in the pdf.

  • In CS6, why the file size remains same after croping? And how do I reduce the size after each cropin

    In CS6, why the file size remains same after croping? And how do I reduce the size after each croping? Thx

    Select the Crop Tool and check the box [  ] Delete Cropped Pixels and you should see a reduction in file size.  With the box unchecked, the data is still maintained in the document, you just can't see it.

  • How can I reduce the file size rendered by After Effects?

    When I render a relatively simple 5 second project in After Effects, the file size of the resultant .avi is 64MB.  If I change the properties to reduce the file size, the degradation makes the file unusable.  What am I doing wrong?

    Is AE's encoder really that inefficient?
    The thing is, AVI doesn't mean much.
    It's pretty much an empty container box, which doesn't imply a quality level.
    So, AME could default to something completely different as a starting point to produce an AVI file.
    AE defaults to uncompressed video when you pick AVI as a format. So, obviously this produces huge file sizes. There could be similar quality thresholds with smaller sizes if you pick other AVIcodecs, but that's a different subject. And in any case, when you're rendering a production quality master,  file size is usually not your main concern. You typically use this high quality video file as a source for compressed flavors for distribution. So, pristine video files with huge sizes are a good thing - people then wonder why trailers at apple.com, for instance look so good. And the thing is, the most compressed formats benefit enormously from having an uncompressed file as a source.
    Regarding encoding efficiency, yes, AE is less efficient than dedicated encoding solutions. Above all, because it doesn't support 2 pass encoding. Note that for some formats, 2 pass makes a night and day difference, while for others, nothing as drastic as most users seem to believe.
    All of this is a moot point for AVI, because the default AVI codecs don't offer these encoding options, which are more the realm of distribution formats like FLV, MPEG-4/H264 or WMV.
    There are distribution codecs which use AVI as a container out there, but those are a different case.

  • How do I decrease the file size of my After Effects video without losing the quality?

    I made a video that was 7 minutes and 11 seconds long for my brothers wedding. The quality is really good but the file size is 1.52 GB and I would rather have that be in the megabytes so that I can send it to family members. It does not have to be so low that I can send it in an email but just not so big to where I can't burn it to a disc or place on a flash drive. I realize that I have not provided much information but I don't know what you will need to help me with this problem. If you would please tell me what information you need below then I will happily provide it for you.

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/684381?tstart=0 and please do a search on H.264 and WMV encoding and recommended settings - here on this forum and on the web in general. This question has been asked to death and answered equally as often. Even a lazy search will turn up hundreds of usable answers.

    My macbook air is os x 10.9, using iPhoto 11 9.5 (902.7).

    Try Old Toad's solution here:   See   Re: iphoto : upload impossible to print a book
    Try to boot into Safe Mode and order this way, or sign into a different user account and try to order as a different user.

  • How to check the file size before loading it to the context

    Hello,
    I have an application to upload a file and write it to the server using the FileUpload UI and IWDResource Interface.
    I would like to limit the size of the file the user is uploading to, say, 2MB.
    The problem is that the current API doesn't allow me to check the file size before I store it in IWDResource. The API available for IWDResource:
    IWDResource resource = ...
    InputStream stream = resource.read(false);
    size = stream.available();
    Is working on the file only AFTER storing it in the context and the server's memory. This way, if a user decides to upload 1GB file for example, he can easily crash the server.
    I am already familiar with <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00062266-3aa9-2910-d485-f1088c3a4d71">this</a> arcticle but it doesn't answer this question as well, all it does is calculating the file size only after storing it in the context.
    Any ideas...?

  • When downloading a file from google drive and save in my phones document directory,the file size is compressed. Why?

    I have downloaded files from "Dropbox" and save in phones document directory,After downloading in document directory,the size of the download file is same as the actual size in dropbox. I can also open it from document directory.Everything is ok. But when I follow the same process for google drive files, the file size is compressed(if actual size of file is 1.2Mb the download file size is 61Kb). So I can not open it from document directory.So, How can i download the actual size of the file in document directory? I am using google api objectivec client for google drive.
    Thanks in advance.

    If an iphone were to try to download a full size document ot photo, it woul overload its own ram, and crash, resulting in a laggy iphone. Therefore it is compresses

  • How can I reduce the file size of 3 videos?...

    ...without losing quality? These three videos are as follows in terms of size and length of the video:
    1) 148MB 19minutes
    2) 357MB 18minutes
    3) 164MB 14minutes
    I tried using a video converter to reduce the bit rate in order to reduce the size, which i know affects the quality, but that did not actually work to reduce the file size this time.
    I thought perhaps i should ask my forum friends for help on this matter. How,if at all, can I get all three of these MOV's under 100mb or to a total of 300mb for all 3 and preserve quality? It has to be able to play on an ipad (MOV or MP4). Thanks for your help!

    I think that the point that David was trying to make is that reducing the amount of information originally provided by a product or part of it in order to make it smaller will inevitably reduce the efficiency of the product itself.
    However, you don't have access to the original masters? Then you might be after a good compromise, meaning a video that can display decent quality while playing at its original frame size (say on the web).
    Does this mean that there is no real way to reduce the size without losing quality?
    If your target is the web there is a way to reduce the file size and still make it look decent enough. Re-compression means loss of source information but video compression is an art on its own and can produce some amazing results!
    Not without testing though.
    Now back to my previous post, use Compressor to try to reduce the file size and compare the result quality. Trust your eyes and be honest with yourself.

    I'm no longer able to select the file size when emailing a photo. How can I solve this? iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.1. Thanks a lot.

    Yeah - I tried that, several times; each time I get "iTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone" and after about 30 minutes the screen on the phone lights up again with the same screen I had before.  After that ... nothing.

  • How to minimize the file size of a file with drawing markups

    Scenario:
    I need to turn a sample of a report into a report template, so I am deleting as many objects as I can with the Tools>Content>Edit Object.  For text that I cannot delete that way, I am covering it up with a white box (Comment>Drawing Markups>square and setting outline = white and fill = white).  On this particular PDF, there are about 20 of these white boxes.  I'm then using Preflight>Flatten annotations and form fields to flatten all of the markups.
    Problem:
    Unfortunately, even after using Preflight and Save As>Reduced Size PDF, the file size is still over 900 kb.  The original file size before I make any changes is less than 150 kb.  I need the final file size to be 200-300 kb.
    Settings:
    Windows 7
    Adobe Acrobat X Pro
    Solutions?
    I may be going about this all wrong, so any advice you have is much appreciated!  The only other thing I can think of to do (since I can't get a blank sample report), is to recreate the report in Word and then PDF it.  I'm hoping there's a better solution.  I tried Photoshop first and the file sizes were in the MBs, so I switched to Acrobat.  Maybe a different program would work even better?

    Basically that is what Bill is telling you. The best method is to:
    create the design of the form in Word.
    Save as a PDF (on a Mac the best method is to go to print menu click pdf and hold mouse or track pad button down, and Chose Adobe PDF) .
    Then open PDF in Acrobat
    Click on Tools
    Click on Forms and create form. Either letting acrobat create the fields and add or take away fields as need.  Or create fields manually.
    This way should you need to make correction you can open the original Word Document, Make chages save as PDF The in open original in PDF. Click on Tools > Pages and choose replace pages and replace desired page(s) as needed. Then readjust fields if needed or add or take fields as needed.

  • The file size of selected file in input file control is shown as 0 for multiple file selection in Safari 5.1

    The file size of selected file in input file control is shown as 0 for multiple file selection in Safari 5.1. If you select single file, then it is able to return file size correctly. However, if you select multiple files, then the file size of each of the selected file is always returned as 0 from javascript. This works correctly in Safari 4.0 but it does not work in Safari 5.1.
    How do I get the correct file size in Safari 5.1 ?

    If you want to post (or send me) a link to the lrcat file, I'd take a look at it for you, and give you a break-down what's consuming all the bytes. But it might be fun to learn how to do that yourself (e.g. using SQL). I use SQLiteSpy, but other people have their favorites.. (or you can use a command-line client if you prefer..). One way: just run "drop table "{table-name}" on each table then look at filesize (do this to a copy, not the real thing).
    Anyway, it's hard to imagine keywords and captions etc. taking much of the space, since even if you had 1000 10-character words of text metadata per photo average that still only adds up to 117MB, which isn't a substantial portion of that 8G you're seeing occupied.
    Anyway, if you've painted the heck out of most of them and not cleared dev history, that'll do it - that's where I'd put my money too...
    One thing to consider to keep file-size down:
    ===================================
    * After reaching a milestone in your editing, take a snapshot then clear edit history, or the top part of it anyway (e.g. leave the import step), using a preset like:
    Clear Edit History.lrtemplate
    s = {
        id = "E36E8CB3-B52B-41AC-8FA9-1989FAFD5223",
        internalName = "No Edit",
        title = "Clear Edit History",
        type = "Develop",
        value = {
            settings = {
                NoEdit = true,
            uuid = "34402820-B470-4D5B-9369-0502F2176B7F",
        version = 0,
    (that's my most frequently used preset, by far ;-})
    PS - I've written a plugin called DevHistoryEditor, which can auto-consolidate steps and reduce catalog size - it's a bit cumbersome to use a.t.m. but in case you're interested...
