After "Advanced System Care 6" Addon installed, Firefox crashes IMMEDIATELY upon startup. How do I remove/disable that addon when Firefox won't start?
None of the solutions I have found online will work because they all require the ability to be able to start Firefox (for example: starting Firefox in Safe Mode).
Is there a way to remove / disable an addon BEFORE starting Firefox ?
To start Firefox in Safe mode, simply hold down the Shift Key when starting Firefox, then remove the add-on

New install of Acrobat 11.0.09 crashes immediately upon startup
I just signed up yesterday for an Acrobat Pro subscription and immediately downloaded and installed the software. I have not yet been able to run the software as it crashes immediately upon startup. I run Advanced System Care 7 by IoBit on my computer daily. It always finds dozens if not hundreds of privacy issues caused by FireFox that need to be removed. I would like to continue using Firefox but will uninstall it if the program keeps causing so much clutter on my machine. I have a Compaq Presario F730US running Vista Home Premium. I do not want FireFox to place ANY cookies or other items on my computer.
So first off, Advanced system care is a piece of junk. It does nothing to improve computer security or performance, and can actually harm your computer. I strongly suggest you remove any iobit products immediately and find a real anti-virus.
Second, cookies can be controlled. They aren't placed on your computer by Firefox, but by websites. You would find that no matter what browser you use you will have cookies from websites you visit.
[[Cookies - Information that websites store on your computer]] explains what cookies actually are. -
I am unable to view the full content of various web sites after purchasing Advanced System Care Pro. I was using the free version before with no problems. I cannot figure out if or which setting was changed. I tried doing a system restore but that did not work. I tried turning off all features of ASC pro but that did not work. Javascript is enabled. Please help.
BrianMany thanks.
With those symptoms, I'd try the following document:

(If there's a SpeedBit LSP showing up in Autoruns, it's usually best to just uninstall your SpeedBit Video Accelerator.) -

I no longer trusted Firefox because of this. I even had difficulty uninstalling it; Windows, no; CCleaner, no, Advance System Care, yes. As I had much work to move favorites, etc, and found most extensions for Chrome I will not be going back. Seems strange as I have had Firefox from the beginning but I just couldn't get it to work on many sites and the steadfast refusal to remove cookies made me awfully suspicious. I think new versions were released too quickly, but what do I know?
Do you have an extension like TACO (Abine) or TrackerBlock that maintains a set of OPT-OUT cookies?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

After removing system fonts and reinstalling fonts, FireFox will not start
After removing system fonts and reinstalling fonts, FireFox will not start! When I start FireFox the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" opens as if FF just crashed??? I don't see any records in event viewer. I am using FF v3.6.3 on a Windows 7 box. I tried uninstalling 3.6.3 and installing 3.0.18 and had the same problem!
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== After a uninstalled all fonts including system fonts and then reinstalling system fonts. ==

The file names will begin with '''bp-'''
There might be more information from the crash report, but it might just tell us you are crashing the first time Firefox tries to use a font.
One thing I suppose you could do is select only those fonts you've got in Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced and then uncheck the '''Allow pages to use their own fonts''' option.

win7 Pro. has been running firefox ok. but lately with 25 and now 26, the firefox won't start. I can see firefox is running in task manager. but it just won't pop up.
if I download it again and install it, it will run, but every time I reboot the system, it just won't run again.
try: reset, safe mode, uninstall & reinstall, new/clean profile, none of those work. There may be a corrupted file on Firefox.
Please attempt to perform a clean reinstall. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/forum-response-clean-reinstall (More Details)] This is different than a regular uninstall.
If a clean reinstall does not fix the issue, please try starting your operating system in safe mode.
To do so, please do the following:
#Ensure that your computer is shut down completely
#Press the power button
#Tap the
F8
key repeatedly before the Windows logo and startup screen is displayed
#Select Safe Mode With Networking for the advanced startup options list
Please report back with the results of both solutions. -
Firefox won't start after windows update

I do not see much about coloum 14, but I am guessing this file is stored somewhere and its corrupt. Update.xul suggests that it is the update file. Do you still have this in your downloads folder? There are two places for update and for a clean reinstall:
[http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/] in a private window will give you a new install or you can choose from here: [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/]
This is what the file should look like; [http://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/log/7a2edc5171e6/toolkit/mozapps/extensions/content/update.xul] If you can copy and paste that file from a working browser we can see the issue, but it will just look the same as the error.
if you can replace the contents of the file locally with what it should look like it will fix the error, but who knows if there are other errors. May be best to delete the updater and save all the profile folder contents. -
Firefox update failed, so I re-installed. Now firefox won't start up at all?
''locking as a duplicate of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/969557''
So I ran firefox, and it was updating. While updating, firefox crashed for no apparent reason so I had to close it. Afterwards, every time I tried to start up firefox, it gave me the update failed error, followed by a crash less than a second later. I followed some instructions, uninstalling and re-installing firefox (without removing personal data), but now firefox won't start up at all!
Now what? We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!

Firefox won't start after downloading update. I've reinstalled Firefox, still won't start. Help says check virtualization settings. What and where are virtualization settings? I have Windows XP.
This might be Zone Alarm since it provides virtualization. Please try the instructions to turn off virtualization in the following support question
