After all issues, finally got itunes to run right, painful decision.....

after random freezing and binding of my itunes and subsequently, my machine when using itunes 7 & on, i have since decided to try something different.
i recreated my raid 0 array, installed all my software, updates and drivers from scratch and backed up the entire partition at the state i wanted it WITHOUT any apple software ever installed.
i then proceeded to do a few things, i turned off my Nvidia Phys-X card and downloaded itunes 8.0.1 for Vista x64. prior to installing it, i extracted the sub-installation files and manually installed only the quicktime and itunes64 msi files (per ZDNet's recent article on how to do this. I installed quicktime first, in an administrator command prompt using the /passive option (per the article) then restarted the machine and did the same with the itunes64.msi file.
since i only have a 5.5G, i don't need the other install packages that came with the download.
but my last and most painful step was that i determined that, more than likely, over the many versions of itunes i've installed and updated over the past 4 years that some of my music files may have gotten corrupted. so now i have embarked on re-encoding my entire library from scratch from my audio cd's.
so far it has been about 3 hours that itunes has been open in the same windows session and it has not yet binded up on me.

Same problem here. Since there isn't a shuffle station feature, I thought I'd create a station and then add a bunch of artists to it. So I started out with a Jack White station and then added about 30 more artists. It was working just fine for about 5 songs and then just stopped. It wouldn't load anymore songs on my iphone or in itunes. So I deleted the station and started from scratch. It played one song this time and then no more.
The other stations I've created and haven't added artists to appear to be working ok, but there is a bit of a delay in getting them going.
Maybe the servers are overloaded?
How many artists did you try to add to your station, dinosoar? When it was working, did the station play a good variety before ODing on the Eagles?

  • Hello All, I finally got my new MacPro.

    Hello All,
I finally got my new MacPro. Can I use Migration Assistant or Time Machine to transfer Adobe CC to the new Mac or must I re-download and re-install ? Everything is working fine. Thanks !

I have read 2 or 3 messages in the past week (can't remember the exact number, I'm on Windows so did not pay a LOT of attention) from Mac people who did not download and install fresh... and then after wasting time trying to "migrate" they had to uninstall the failed migration and download and install fresh

  • Finally got itunes to update to version 11.1.4.62, but cannot view previously downloaded movies.  Movies show up in video tab with an additional download folders but I'm unable to watch.  Have any suggestions?

I finally had success downloading iTunes update version 11.1.4.62.  Some problems with music, songs are mixed into different albums, some didnot load. Major problem is that all of my previously downloaded movies are listed in the new iTunes, but I can not watch any, all I get is a black screen with the control panel in the lower middle as usual.  Is there anything I can do to recover and watch my movies or do I have to remove everything and start from scratch.

    Hello jaybearden,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • I Finally got itunes 11.1.4 to download

I had to uninstall every file associated with anything apple.  Icloud, Ipod, mobile me, everything!  I rebooted and started the itunes down load and it finally worked.  Everything is back to the way it was before this mess.  All my music and even podcasts are back.
    I'll never update itunes again.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • I finally got itunes 7.4.2 to install on my pc!

    *The short version:*
Downloaded itunes program at work and brought home on USB drive and itunes installed instantly. Still a mystery but itunes works now.
    *The long version:*
So i finally bought my first ipod this past weekend. Very excited until i couldn't get itunes to install on my pc. I was able to download the file but when i double clicked the install file i got a message that said windows could not id the publisher so itunes would not install. I worked through every step on the itunes help page (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976) and then searched the microsoft site. But nothing worked so i started to look for programs that might conflict with the download. I turned off all firewalls and antivirus settings and deleted Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) just in case that was screwing something up. I called apple tech support and they worked through everything and told me it was a problem with my pc. My pc manufacturer said it was my dsl provided (bellsouth / AT&T) that was causing the problem.
So as a last resort i downloaded the itunes file at work saved it on a USB drive and installed on my home pc and everything worked perfectly. I don't know what the problem was but i at least got it solved. Hope this helps.

You'll need to ask that question in the AppleSeed Discussions forum. The TOU of the beta software presents us from discussion in a public forum.
You should have received an email alerting you to the new beta version and instructions on how to get it.

  • Finally got iTunes 7 to work on Windows XP system

After struggling for a couple days trying to get iTunes 7 to work on my XP system, I finally found the solution (for my system at least). I downloaded & installed the latest Creater Sound Blaster Audigy driver (Audigy 2 series and Audigy 4 series Driver 02.08.0004), then uninstalled iTunes 7, downloaded latest iTunes 7 file, reinstalled it.
Previously iTunes would not play anything, progress bar would not move, no sound. Now it works fine.
Maybe for those with other sound cards, updating driver may help?

Itunes 10.6.1 doesn't work on Windows XP. Itunes process appears in Process list in Task Manager, but disappears after few seconds.
Could you check something for me please? Is your QuickTime Player also currently failing to launch (with or without an error message)?

  • Apps won't load after all the apps got updated, why?

    Hi all,
I have recently updated most of my apps on my ipod touch (2nd gen) and realized none of the apps would work, I was wondering what the problem might be?
I went to an apple store and showed it to one of the guy and he said I should just restore my ipod, but that means I will simply restore everything to the factory setting.
I was thinking if it's because my software version is currently on 2.2.1 and I will need to pay $5.99 AUD for an ipod touch software update to v3.1 software for the apps to work?
    Thanks in advance.
    Waynos

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you reset the ipod by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again after the app updates?
Did you check the apps in the store about the system requirements? Some do need 3.0 or above to work correctly. Or see the developers page for more details.

  • HT5312 why do i have to talk to someone all on the phone to answer a simple security question... im not very social and id rather find an answer by reading it on the website; after all that's what its for. Right?

    frustrated

If you have a rescue email address on your account, as described on the HT5312 page that you posted from, then you can reset them via http://appleid.apple.com - follow steps 1 to 5 half-way down that page and you should give you a reset link.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset - which is likely to be by phone as they need to confirm your id and that it's your account, which is more easily done by phone rather than having emails going back-and-forth.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • ITunes not running after Safari and Quick Time update

HELP NEEDED!!After updating to the latest version of Safari and Quick Time, i got this error message the next time I started my computer:
"AppSyncNotifier.exe: The program can't start because CoreCoundation.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
I tried to open iTunes but I can't. I tried to uninstall so I can reinstall but it I got another error message that said I do not have the rights to uninstall, etc. I am the only user of this computer and I have admin rights. This PC used to run on vista but I recently upgraded to Windows 7(x64) and I encoutered the same problem - i could not uninstall/reinstall iTunes because "I do not have permission"
After upgrading to Windows 7 iTunes was running okay until the Safari and Quick Time update.
I need to sync my iPhone and iPod but without iTunes I can't!!!
PLEASE HELP!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, OH PLEASE!!!!

What a strange collation of errors. Taken at face value, each of the three suggests a different problem. Working on an Occam's razor sort of principle, that one underlying problem is going to be more likely than a perfect storm of three different problems at once, I think we'd better try checking on troubles with administrative privileges first.
Let's try doing a "run as administrator" on an iTunes uninstall first.
Download and save a fresh copy of the itunes installer to your desktop.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Now right-click on the iTunes64Setup.exe file you downloaded and select "Run as administrator".
Since you've already got that version of iTunes installed, you should eventually get to a dialog asking you to repair or remove iTunes. Select Remove.
Does that go through without the "Windows Installer" message?
If so, reboot the PC and then try another "Run as administrator" of your iTunes64Setup.exe. Does Apple Application Support get installed for you properly this time?
Thanks again b noir. Unfortunately, this suggestion did not work. When I did what you said, there was no option to "remove". I see the iTunes thing on my control panel-programs window, but it's no longer in the program (x86) folder on the c:/drive. iTunes on my computer is like gum stuck to my shoe. same goes for bonjour. Please be patient some more. Do you have any more suggestions?? I'm planning to get me an iPad but if I can't get iTunes to run properly on my computer I'm having second thoughts about it now.
    Thanks!

  • After trying to update/reinstall iTunes, now Windows7 will not boot.

After iTunes update would not install, I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled. Then once I finally got iTunes to open, it would not recognize my iPhone 5 when I connected it. Then my computer froze up. So I did a hard reboot, and before Windows even opens, it goes to a screen that says it can't boot. It gives me two choices, either Start Windows Normally or go to Windows Repair. No matter which choice I pick it does the same thing, tries to run but ends up back at same screen. I can use F8 to get to the boot menu, but it won't start in Safe Mode or any other way.

Discussion of jailbroken phones is against the TOU of this forum, and most certainly why you're having problems connecting to your laptop.
    Try Google.

  • Itunes wont run and now i lost my cd drive

I installed itunes to my windows xp computer and after the installation I tried to run the program. It would not run and now I lost my cd drive. I deleted itunes and then in order to get my drive back I would have to use the windows restore program. But, every time I try to reinstall itunes it does the same thing... program wont work and lose my cd drive. Please help me someone...

Success! I've finally got itunes up and running on my computer. What I did was go to my control panel and clicked on 'other control panel options.' Here I found the java plug-in icon which I updated, it's pretty straightforward to do that, if you click on it, you'll find the option to do that. I then clicked on the Windows start menu and on programs which said 'apple software update'. I clicked on this and it said searching for software. It found the new version of Quick Time and a security update for it. I installed both of them and double clicked on itunes and instead of expecting it to show the usual error message it started launching! I'm well pleased. My cd drive is still missing but I should be able to find a way to restore it. Hope this info helps someone who's having similar problems!

  • Itunes cannot run because some required files are missing...vista 64 bit OS

I'm running on a Vista 64 bit HP computer, and I have been trying to download itunes for the past couple days and all it says is Itunes cannot run because some required files are missing please reinstall itunes...I have no idea what to do...i have looked around the forums for information and I guess I'm not the only one having issues using a 64 bit OS. Btw the 64 bit Itunes won't work either. It does the same exact thing...

all it says is Itunes cannot run because some required files are missing please reinstall itunes
I'd like to check for malware with that message, Nico. (With modern versions of iTunes, if files really were missing, iTunes would be much more likely to do a repair install of itself when you wen't to launch it, rather than returning the old-fashioned files-are-missing message.
Download and install the free version of MalwareBytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hours on My Lenovo.)
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
After the scan completes, find the log file for the scan, and paste the contents of the log into a reply here.

  • Journey-After All These Years

I can't find Journey's new song After All These Years on Itunes . . . Help.

Just like any music store, updating isn't instant.
It takes a while for new music to show up.
Just be patient and it will eventually be in the store.
