Dont know if accidently fixed it or not i got it to be recogniced by itune im restoring it now. i held the power/sleep button till turned off. then while holding the home button under the screen connected it to the usb wire .. also i change the usb port i was using on my computer dont know if it was luck or what but glad i got my phone back.

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
I turned off the power to my apple tv whilst updating and now it will not work, i have tried to restore using usb but it says unable to find. any help please?

Are you following these instructions.
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore. -

I now have the newest version of iTunes. My iPad is up-to-date as well. When I plug in the USB to my computer, it makes the proper sound, but I do not see the device identified in iTunes and therefore cannot sync it. Instead, it opens to the file location for my iPad. How do I connect iTunes to my iPad? It was working perfectly before I updated iTunes.

ITunes 11.1.4 will not recognize iPhone, iPad after Dell BIOS update
I suspect the problems everyone is having are related to the BIOS. I am running a Dell XPS i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 3.4 GHz with 24 GB RAM, 64 bit OS x64 based processor. OS is Windows 8.1
I just updated my BIOS as suggested by Dell. Now iTunes 11.1.4 will not recognize my iPhone or iPad.
My computer accesses the iPhone or iPad, but iTunes does not recognize them.
This was not a problem prior to updating BIOS.
Is there a fix or patch?
I have to sync my devices for work.
Please no baby-steps replies. Have tried everything including removing devices from device manager and reconnecting to force driver update and try to force iTunes recognition. None of that works.

Found these steps posted elsewhere by another and the solution worked for me...
1. Go to Windows 8.1 Control Panel.
2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
7. Select "Update Driver".
8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
11. iTunes 11.1.4.62 should open automatically if your iphone is connected already -
My computer will not recognize my IPhone 4 after being updated
I was updating my iphone and the screen changed to "plug into itunes" in the middle of it, but it was already plugged in. Now my computer will not recognize that my iphone is plugged in and it is stuck on the "plug into itunes" screen. what should I do? Some of those things which concern itunes also help with your problem. In particular try rebooting the computer, try a different USB cable to attach the phone or try a different port -

How do I either: 1) turn off comptability feature, or 2) up grade the .exe to be compatable with the iphone ios 6.0.1 software. The computer will not recognize the phone. I reinstalled itunes, but it still does not work.
What are you talking about? There is no "compatibility feature" on the iPhone, and .exe files won't run on the phone.
Please slow down and explain exactly what you're trying to do and what happens when you try. -

My iPhone 4s is stuck on a black screen that shows a USB cable connecting to iTunes. The phone will not turn on and the iTunes logo as I described only shows up when I plug the phone into the charger or my computer. I have tried the reset in restore mode as well as the DFU? mode and it still will not work. I have the latest version of iTunes on my Mac. My error code was 2002. I also tried it on my laptop (windows 8.1) and none of the above worked. My error code on my laptop was 02. The phone is through Verizon and it has absolutely no damage. Your iPhone is in recoverty mode at the moment so to possibly get it back up and running you would need to do a restore as you have been trying. Follow the steps in the article below for the specific error messages you have been receiving. If after following all steps the issue remains book an appointment at a local Apple Retail Store to have the iPhone evaluated.
