After backing up on iTunes, the new update deleted everything!!
Hi!
I have an iPod 4g. I backed up my information on the iTunes, then followed the steps to download the new update. After all is said and done, which took about 20 minutes, everything is gone. The music is what gets me hot since I do not have the cds anymore to upload from. Any suggestions?

The backup that iTunes makes does not include music or the apps themselves (it does include app data) and some other things. If those items are not in the iTunes library of the computer on which you did the update they are gone from the iPod and can't be synced back to the iPod at the end of the update.

Well, not everything per se, iTunes still functions properly. Any attempt to update the iPod, however, draws this message:
Anyways, I realize there are FAQs and walk-throughs about solving this problem, but I have tried them all repeatedly and nothing works. I am convinced it is a problem within the new update, and this is not so far-fetched as it seems I am far from alone in having problems with this new and "improved" version.
And what did I give up the ability to update my iPod for? The ability to sync iTunes up to Nike.com.

Windows XPFirst try the usual reboot and if that doesn't help
try a restore. BTW, make sure you do a backup
and sync before you do the restore if needed. -
I cant start itunes after i tried to install the new update PLEASE HELP
Every time i try to open it it said iTune.exe - Entry Point Not Found then it said The procedure entry point kCMByteStreamNotification_AvailableLengthChanged could not be located in the dynamic link library CoreMedia.dll. And i tried re-installing it and it went through but it just wont open.
Hello. No message shown. The downloading does not complete at all, I tried like 20 times but no one worked. The closest I was to downloaded it, was with 66 mb (the new version has 66.1) As stated on the web page of apple I uninstalled itunes and all its accesories or common programs. Now I am unable to install the new version and I am more frustrating since I did it to sincronized it wit my new ipad! In consequence, no message at all, the downloading simply stops at 49%, 67% or 99% :(

After downloading the new update for my iphone 4 the screen only show an itune logo, as
well as a plug in picture, thats it. No icons are visible, phone does not come on except to show
the two icons. When I power up it does nothing except shows those 2. When power off I dont even

If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:

How do I get my music playlists back after the new update?
After the new iTunes Update this week, the update deleted my personalized music playlists, went back to the default playlists, and all the albums I deleted doubles of songs are all back since the new update! Is there a way to fix this or am I going to have to go back through and reorganize my entire library by hand again? It still shows up on correct on my iPhone, it's just on my mac that I'm having the issue.
P.s. iTunes comment: I don't like how if an album has multiple artists on different songs, iTunes separates the album's songs and shows them separated in the Albums list. I have an album to listen to the ALBUM, not separated by artists. Is there a setting or something to change that?Always back up your computer before installing updates. You may need to rebuild it with a pre-update library file. Details really depend upon exactly what you lost.

Quick answer: Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085#17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields. If they are not a multiple CD set you still need to make sure the disc number fields are set correctly or all empty. -

I received the new update from Itunes and after installing, I couldnt get into my Itunes. I get a message from Windows saying that an MC file is missing and to reinstall I tunes. I have reinstalled 3 times, the first time I didn't remove the old version, I installed the update over it. Next I tried the repair function under Control Panel. After that, I uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled again from the website. I still get the same message about missing files from Windows.

Same thing happened here ~ tech guy at a local authorized Apple repair store said it had something to do with improper backup from which the restore would be made. Still have a phone that asks to be connected to Itunes but won't do anything else . . . frustrated.

How do I get my music that was purchased on my Iphone, back after I got the new update?
I recently got the new update for my 3GS Iphone, and I had purchased some music on the Itunes on my phone. So I synced my phone right before the update, and backed it up. I did the update, and now I have nothing. The music that I purchased on my Iphone hadn't been put on my Macbook (I made a mistake there), and now its NO WHERE to be found. Help please???

Last night i was downloading the new update for the Iphone4 on my laptop through Itunes. After the download was done, it was starting to install, and then an error came up and didnt get a chance to check it. Now my Iphone is stuck on the screen with the USB pointing to the Itunes Icon and wont do anything else. Any advice on how to get this fixed, or do i need to go to the Apple store and have them look at it.

You have already seen that you cannot load the new iTunes into your 10.5.8, so as Neil says, you need Snow Leopard (current cost £14). And you'll probably need to update the disc you buy via the combo update, though that is free.
As far as the new iTunes is concerned, there's been a certain amount of grumbling so you may want to study the forums before you update. The main problem has been with album artwork which does not transfer easily. -

An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. After the new update, why does my Bluetooth keep turning itself on? I keep turning it off, but it still finds a way to turn itself back on

it always switches itself on after i update. it just did again, this time for 7.1.2.. i t also will switch on after a restore.
i never use bluetooth and make sure it's not on for any other reason.
it's been noticed by others too.

All of my texts are now being sent through my email after the new update. How do I change this back to just sending with my phone number?
Try settings -- messages -- send & recieve and see if your email and phone number are in there and if there is only a check mark next to your email address. If so just check off your phone number and try that.
