After backup....
my phone has only the contacts and texts loaded.
then i said ok big deal and go to re do all of my music preferences and whatnot but its just at the backup screen again
any advice???
I'm assuming it's asking if you want to "Set Up As New" or "Restore" with a certain back up. If so, and if you've already restored it on that computer, chose to restore and as soon as it begins to restore, unplug the phone. Then, re-connect and it should work normally. You'll need to re-sync everything, but no biggie.

After watching tv shows that were stored in iCloud, they remain on the iPad device even after backup is performed on iCloud.
This limits my iPad storage. How do I get them back to iCloud as soon as I have finished watching?Backing up your iPad won't change what is stored on your iPad, and you can't put TV programmes into the cloud - they will only show there whilst the TV company has them for sale in your country's store.
How did you download them onto you iPad e.g. via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app or syncing, or do you have videos in the cloud showing (Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos 'on') and tapped on a cloud TV programme in the Videos app ? If the former then you should be able to delete them directly in the Videos app, either via the Edit button on the TV programme selection screen, or by selecting the series and swiping across the episode from right to left. If the latter then do they show in Settings > General > Usage > Videos (under the 'Storage' heading) ? If they do then you should be able to delete them by swiping across them from right to left. -
Veeam back to tape after Backup Exec completes
Yes, it's possible to use 2 mentioned solutions together. Hope, you're using Veeam latest version as it has enhanced support for tape devices. If not, have a look: http://www.veeam.com/kb1816
Tapes don't have to be directly connected to Veeam Backup Server. Any Windows server with tapes can be added to Veeam environment as Tape Server, please refer to user guide for details. Is it possible to run a Veeam job to backup to Tape after Backup Exec completes at night and append the Full Vm to the end of the tape ? Using BE 2014 currently.
Also does the Tape device need to be directly connected to the Veeam Server?
Thanks in advance

after backup, TM cannot eject itself automatically, and then both my mac and TM get high temperature. why is that, I had the same problem twice. I re-start my mac, it doesn't work at tall, still the same problem.
Are you saying, right now that the TM refuses to work even after a re-boot?

Server Does not start after backup complition
Dear All,
We are facing following problem some times after backup completion.
Our Setup is : SAP ECC 6, Oracle 10g, HP-UX 11.31.
We are scheduling the whole database offline + archive log backup during night.
After completion of backup the SAP does not start. I have checked the following things.
1. Database is started : OK.
2. SAP related services at O/S level : OK
3. Listener is OK
4. No startup log generated related to SAP
But I am not able to connect to SAP thru SAP GUI.
If I tried to start SAP using startsap it will not respond for long time. Even I have tried to startsap after shutting down database, kill all SAP related services at O/S level. But startsap doesn't respond.
When I restart the server, after that I am able to start SAP.
Is there any memory fragmentation related problem ?
Before some time same thing is happened with our production server, but at that time I have deleted Archivelog files manually before tacking backup. In this case if I take backup "whole database offline + archive log " then server doesn't start. At that time also I have to restart the server. So the Problem is identified.
But in this case i.e on our Quality Server not able to trace out problem.
Thanks in Advance,
NiravHi,
Yes the problem is related to memory. I think during the backup memory is allocated but not release after completion of database backup.
in case of archive log backup what option your are using means are you using save and delete option or other.
In the case of the production server archive log backup you to use to the option save and delete.
Please also check wheather core file getting gernerated should be deleted frquently from work folder.
Thanks & Regards,

Yes, we can create standby control file, after backup.
What is your database version?
If you are using 11g version, then you can RMAN DUPLICATE command FROM ACTIVE DATABASE option.
This duplication is not backup-based duplication.

Time Machine Backups disk not automatically unmounting after backup completes in Lion
I am using Time Machine over WiFi on a 3rd party USB drive shared as an AirDisk through an Airport Extreme router. Ever since switching to Lion (clean install), I have noticed that the Time Machine backup disk will not automatically unmount after a backup is completed. This creates a problem when my MacBook Pro comes back from sleep. Specifically, the WiFi notification icon in the Finder toolbar indicates that WiFi is connected, even though it's not connected to a network, and I am unable to connect to any networks for what seems like several minutes until the Time Machine backups disk disappears from the desktop and WiFi actually connects.
Since the disk was not cleanly unmounted, Time Machine then keeps complaining that the sparse bundle file is locked and cannot be mounted every time it tries to do a backup. I have to either disconnect/reconnect the USB drive physically from the router, or restart the router every time this happens to resolve the issue. That is getting really annoying to have to do every time. I suppose I could manually unmount the Time Machine disk after every backup but it's ridiculous to have to do that every time I want to put the computer to sleep.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue and is there a fix?For others who might be having this problem - I was able to resolve it by connecting my backup disk to my mac via USB, completely erasing it, and starting over from a new backup. Disk Utility was not reporting any errors when I verified the disk, but I went ahead and repartitioned it and started fresh. The disk now automatically unmounts after backups complete.

Reasons for Time Capsule not ejecting after backup?
Running 2010 17" MBP, 8GB, upgraded to Lion.
After backups, the TC drive stopped auto ejecting sometime last night. I can eject it manually, and as far as I can tell backups are still occurring normally.
After doing some searching I tried using the privacy settings to prevent Spotlight from indexing the TC data folder where the backup sparsebundles go, and rebooting. Didn't help.
Anyone have some ideas on what might be causing this, and what I can do to correct it?
Thanks in advance!Okay. I guess any mysterious occurrance is potentially going to have an equally mysterious resolution. It just started ejecting the TC drive normally after backups. I've done nothing, changed nothing--it just started working again.
I think I'll have a drink now. Thanks anyway! -
Not unload tape for library after backup
Hi,
I am have 01 library configured with oracle secure backup version 10.3.
After backup the tape not is unload.
Is possbile include load and unload in dataset. Anyone have any example the use dataset with unload tape?
Someone already went through this (not unload after backup) ?
Ps - I am open SR in oracle, but are looking to see if it is bug.
Thanks,
Rogerio PereiraBy default, OSB does not unload a tape immediately after a backup. If a backup completes, OSB will leave the tape in drive for user-configurable amount of time...5 minutes by default.
You can configure how this setting in web tool or command line. Using the web tool:
Configure: Defaults and Policies > Devices
Max drive idle time .... change default of 5 minutes to what time desired
Conversely, you could write an after backup script to unload tape.

Mailbox database size before & after backup
Hi there
i recently made a similar thread and someone told me that i should do it here so here is my issue :
i've been assigned to do a specific report related to exchange and its backup
so what we want is a report that would give us the global size of all our mailbox databases before and after the backup ( even the size of the logs before and after)
(example : we have a mailbox database X: , we need to go inside the data folder, and retrieve the size of the .edb
then do the same thing with the logs, go inside the logs folder, and retrieve the logs size )
i was wondering if anyone ever managed to pull a script that does similar things, given the fact that i ve never worked with powershell and my knowledge is kinda limited in that area
ThanksHi Amassuo,
for finished scripts that do things, check out the
gallery. If you want to learn powershell (I might be biased, but I highly recommend it), check out the
learning center.
Regarding your specific issue, you can check the free space on a specific disk by running this powershell command:
Get-WmiObject win32_logicaldisk -Filter "DeviceID = 'C:'" | Select -ExpandProperty FreeSpace
Comparing before/after will get you the space differential (adapt drive letter in filter as needed).
Cheers and good luck with your script,
Fred
