After batter 1.2 update MBP won't restart

Well now i'm in a pickle.
I installed the Battery 1.2 update, all seemed to go well. I restarted the MBP and it appears to start, I get the apple logo and the clock type icon spinning around. After about 30 seconds of rebooting the screen goes blue and I get a black dialogue box telling me to restart the computer. At this point the fans seem to go on pretty high.
I've tried restarting it without the battery and get the same result.
I'm reasonably new to Macs. Any help is appreciated on how to get back up and running again. This is a work computer so now I'm SOL until I can get it fixed.
Is there such a thing as starting in safe mode?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Thanks!
Well after about the 6th try with various options, batter out AC on, AC out battery on, etc... it finally rebooted just as I googled the Mac safe boot.
So it seems to be up again now, not sure why it wouldn't restart before, but I did verify the battery new battery software was installed.
Thanks for the response and sorry for spamming the board; that was a little bit of a panic!

  • After newest update, mbp won't get passed white screen

    Hello community of apple.
I am writing this for my sister, who recently is experiencing problems with her 2012 Macbook Pro.
She had told me that after downloading the latest update (itunes and safari), like normal, her laptop shut down. Upon rebooting, a dialogue menu appeared saying "Unable to perform update", so she pressed "Ok" Evidently, black writing appears on the white screen saying her laptop is in "Panic "Unable to find driver for this platform:/"ACPI/"." Below this, it says "Debugger called: (panic)"
She had told me that she had contatcted apple, and they redirected her to discussions.apple.com.
Hopefully one of you has experienced a simular problem...however when I installed the update on my own macbook, it had installed flawlessly? If I have missed any significant points, feel free to ask!
    Thanks!

24 hours later the laptop still wont work.
Cant startup using an external harddrive either...

  • After 10.5.6 update MBP early 08 crashes in an strange way

The update went through smoothly, but when I used the MBP again, something strange happens:
After a few minutes the mbp was useless. I could see the dock, I could klick the dock but allthough the icon behaved like I was klicking on it nothing happend, so no jumping icon.
Also strange: cmd+tab does not work, it just makes a "boing" sound, no list of open apps.
Add this: The list with open apps (cmdaltesc) is also empty.
Restarting is not possible, the popup asking what to do when I press my power button appears but after selecting reboot nothing happens.
I made a new account to watch some movie. So I started Quicktime and after, I don't know, 15 minutes, I checked and the info bar above was transparent, after a while it was gone, also the dock disappeard, not always but quite often.
I am on a busniess tripp (Hopefully I don't need the mbp) and will be back on weekend. If I can't solve the problem I have to reinstall...
Edit: I already removed everything out of the autostart and unused system prefs.
And iTUnes tells me, from time to time, it can't save the library because the rights are not given or the volume is not av.

  • After 10.6.3 update: Bluetooth won't turn on

After installing the incremental update, Bluetooth will not reactivate after sleep. The Bluetooth icon is in the menu bar, but Bluetooth is 'off' and wasn't before sleep. If I try to turn it on, it won't come on. Works fine if I do a full restart.

Since the latest updates I have exactly the same.
Bluetooth Mighty mouse works fine. Logout and put the iMac to sleep.
Pressing the mouse doesn't do anything at all.
To wake the mouse I have to press the keyboard at which point the screen displays an outline of the mouse with connection lost.
20 - 30 seconds later connectivity is fine and I can log in again.
    Very frustrating.
I booted from a 10.5.x on an external disk and the wake from sleep functionality works fine.

  • After Snow Leopard install, my Mac won't restart or shut down...

...and when I attempted to install 10.6.1 update, it WILL NOT restart, hence NO update. It's functional, but stuck. Any suggestions? What details/info. do you need to make a suggestion?
    Thanks for your assistance.

    Hello Chris:
There is a reasonable possibility that you have a hardware problem (not what you wish to hear).
However, try a couple of things (if you are able to) in sequence. If the problem goes away, quit!
    1. If you have installed it, remove any third-party memory (OS X is notoriously picky about memory).
    2. Boot from the software install DVD while holding the "D" key down. That will invoke Apple's hardware checker.
    3. Boot from the software install DVD and run repair disk (not permissions, that is different).
    4. Reinstall OS X 10.6 from the install DVD.
If none of that helps, I am afraid you should go to an Apple store or Apple certified technician for diagnosis.

  • My MBP won't restart

I've just bought an MBP in Japan (Japanese model), on which I have and English and Japanese user setup. It's run brilliantly for over a week. I've been installing some Japanese language software and when I received the prompt that the MBP needed to restart, the screen restarts with an Apple, a circle with a diagonal line through it and the missing file icon. I cannot get any further than that. Help please!

That means that your MacBook can't find the system folder.
You might have a bad hard drive or you might have corrupted your OS somehow.
Toss in the installation disc and hold option while you boot up. You might be able to start from the hard disk this way - if not try to boot from the CD.
Once you have booted into the installer open Disk Utility and see if it can repair your hard disk.

  • MBP won't restart after software update

This is regarding my MacBook Pro 17" late 2009 edition running OSX 10.7.2
Yesterday while running a routine Software Update which included latest iTunes and OSX system updates, my MBP was stalled during one of the last steps of installation process (something titled like copying files to right locations..). I waited for hours and ultimately hit the power button to restart. Since then my MBP only restarts to the stage of apple logo appearing on grey followed by the spinning cartwheel which seems to go on forever. No blue/ login screen appears even after I waited for over an hour. Seems like the update process was not successful and in turn broke the system startup.
I then fixed the disk permissions and repaired the hdd using disk utility from my original install disk but still no luck.
I even tried to reinstall macosx but it presents the hdd as unavailable. Could it be because I only have about 70gb free on this 500gig hdd?
What is the best course for me to get my MBP up and running again, please help!

Try command-R at startup to get into Lion Recovery. You have several options from repair to reinstall. Read these links when you get it running again.

  • After downloading newest android update video won't play from within photos.

After updating to the latest Android software, the video playback will not work and the error message "Can't play video" appears when trying to access video from within the photos section, they are visible as thumbnails and first frames. .. They can still be played back from the videos section but it used to work on both. This has affected all videos that are on the phone. Does anyone have any ideas?  Thanks,

spoke to online help today, they told me to backup my phone carry out software repair using pc companion. it did nothing but wipe my apps, the problem on mine comes from it won't allow films to be downloaded to the memory card, it will however download to the phone, which is crap seeing how small the onboard memory is. i've submitted an email and no doubt in a week or 2 there will be another update to sort this. it seems that none of these updates are tested properely as when my xperia z updated once you lost loadspeaker till the came up with a patch file.
my xperia z1 will play vids but when i updated there was about 40gb from video unlimited saved on the memory card, which immediately came up out of rental.... which is a pile of crap seeing as they were bought films. lets keep fingers crossed this is fixed quick.

  • After 10.5.1 update, Pages won't save

After I installed Leopard, Pages would not save new documents or save new versions of existing documents. It would crash and leave a black outline of the Save window on the desktop, requiring me to Force Quit. I trashed the preferences and repaired permissions and everything went back to normal. However, after updating to 10.5.1 just now, this problem has returned -- and my previous solution no longer works.
    Any ideas?

    Peggy,
I didn't repair the permissions until I experienced the problems with Pages after the initial installation. After I did this, things worked fine. Like I said, after updating to 10.5.1 yesterday, the problem returned and after repairing permissions didn't get things back to normal, I reinstalled iWork '08.
Here's something odd. Even though I trashed the entire iWork '08, when I reinstalled, the installer told me that zero space was required to install iWork '08. So maybe there's some other disk issue involved?
The Repair Disk option is grayed out in Disk Utilities. There's an instruction to run the reapir application from a CD or DVD, but Leopard only has one installation disk and it doesn't have any independently running repair program on it.

  • After iTunes 10.6 update, program won't open

I just downloaded the iTunes 10.6 update and now my iTunes will not open. The icon in my dock will jump a few times, as if the program were opening, but then nothing happens. Any fixes?

I am having exactly the same problem. More specifically, after not loading, it comes up with the following message:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13010)."
    Can anybody help?

I updated to 10.4.7 and now my nano won't mount.

  • After 1.5.2 Update iSync won't launch

Updated to 1.5.2 on my macbook pro, and afterwards iSync will not even launch... one bounce of the icon then nothing. Where do I begin to trouble shoot this? Tried fixing permissions but that did not fix the problem.
    Frank

    Thanks!! It worked for me.
What I found is that just before installing 10.5.2 iSync worked fine, but before exploring the sync options in the new menu bar icon (for synching both .mac and isync, if I got it) iSync stopped to work, it doesn't launch anymore.
Concretely, I have an expired trial account of .mac, and when I go to the synching options, it prompts a question about updating (buying) the account or do it later. Every time I click on "Not now" with iSync working, it stops to launch, and I have to reinstall 10.5.2 Combo update, to get it to launch again. It's a funny bug, don't you thing?
So, the "final" fix was to make synch icon not visible on menu bar, log out of my expired .mac account, reinstall the Combo update, and then it works (again) but don't stop working (unless I touch .mac on the System Preferences, again). So don't touch it!
Apple must release a fix for that if they want me to buy .mac someday. Since then, I won't ever touch .mac preferences, or logging .mac accounts.
I hope this information may be helpful to someone.

  • Music app crashes constantly after iOS5 update and won't restart.

I have an iPhone 4 that I updated to iOS5 last week. The first time I tried the new Music App, it ran very sluggishly. I then connected it to my JVC car stereo via the dock connector (Made for iPod), and the Music App crashed. After crashing, it just shows a blank white screen when you try to start the app, then crashes again after about ten seconds.
I can delete all the music from the iPhone via iTunes, and then re-add it, which seems to work for getting the Music App working again. But as soon as I try to connect it to the dock connector on my car stereo, it crashes again as previously described. Grrr.

No answers, only wanted to commiserate—I had a similar problem, and now my iPhone 5 running iOS 5 is showing the blank white screen for the Music app every time. No music showing anywhere, even when NOT connected to the dock in my car. I was wondering if the bug was related to the number of songs/size of files (since I have a crapload of music). This has to be happening to others...
