After booting the PC, the partition D disappears!

Last Saturday, after booting the PC and OS loading, what I was surprised : D partition was gone. Now, only C partition is there.
Anyone knew how and what caused it? I called customer service and even they had no ideas.
Thank you in adcnave for any ideas.

Hi there.
Did you go to Control Panel>Admin tools>Sys Config>Boot> and check your default operating system wasn't usurped by the ubiquitous Lenovo junk?
It should read
Boot>microsoft Windows (specify releasee.g. Vista)(C:\Windows):Current OS; Default OS
good luck

Assuming that you tried to install Win 7 in bootcamp.
Power on the machine and press and hold the "option" key when you hear the bong sound.
Select the Macintosh HD icon and press "return" or just click on the icon.
Once booted into OS X go to System Preferences and select the Startup Disk icon and configure startup to use the Macintosh HD.

  • Windows installer not booting up after resizing the partition

    Hello.
I am trying to reinstalling Windows 8.1. pro on my macbook with Yosemite.
When I initially installed Windows, it went fine, but Windows corrupted my booting process.
So I tried to fix it with gdisk command to create hybrid mbr, but I was not able to fix the problem.
So I deleted the Boot Camp partition using Boot Camp Assistant.
then I created a new Boot Camp partition through Boot Camp Assistant.
However, Windows installer did not boot up automatically nor manually(pressing option whilst booting) anymore.
I have booted up Windows installer using the same usb on pc, so I know that the usb containing Windows installer does work..
I am not sure how to boot the Windows installer.
Do I have to do clean install the OS X??
thank you for your help and time in advance.
    Rin

Is it possible to create the disk using BCA and a Windows ISO on the Mac, if your Mac supports it? If your Mac has a built-in Optical drive (or used to have one), you are going to run into issues.
    Can you
    1. Run Disk Utility Repair.

    3. PRAM Reset - OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM

  • Have to kill pulseaudio after boot the get audio to work

I have a Logitech G35 USB Headset and I have this annoying problem where I have to kill pulseaudio with "pulseaudio -k" to get it to work for most apps.
Audio only works right after boot in a few apps, like VLC and Firefox with Flash Player (e.g. youtube). But for most other apps, like Chrome, Amarok, Spotify, etc. I have to kill pulseaudio first.
I've read the wiki up and down, my USB headset is set as default audio device and I have no external speakers I user.

Also, "pulseaudio --check" will never ever output anything. Is this normal? What kind of output should I get?
I think something is wrong with my pulseaudio, but I'm unable to fix it. I'd appreciate any hints and leads! Thanks

Try moving to a backup folder any pulseaudio related .desktop files from the '/etc/xdg/autostart/' folder and reboot see if you still have to kill pulseaudio still.

  • I moved the "stop load" X icon to the left along with the refresh and home icons, after which the X icon disappeared even though the other stayed ok.

The "stop load" X icon disappeared from my navigation toolbar and I don't see it in the available icons in the customize window to add it back.

Did you also look at all of your toolbars while in customize?
You could use the keyboard shortcuts and avoid the problem altogether.

  • PXI-8106 shuts down shortly after boot, the power light is flashing.

How can I tell if this is a board power supply problem in the NI PXI 8106 or a PXI crate problem?   The time between shut downs decreases to the point where it will not boot at all.

    Hi dlknies-
Take a look at the PXI-8106 User Manual on page 3-14.  It says that a blinking Power LED indicates that one of the PXI or onboard supplies is operating outside of the normal limits or is not functioning.  You can attempt the repair yourself or you can have it sent back to National Instruments for an RMA.
I hope this helps.  Best of luck to you!

  • Serious problem - My MAC seems its going to blow, after booting the system.

    Hello.
    I own a PowerMac G5 1.8mhz, with Tiger 10.4 (up-dated to 10.4.9 i think) and,
I was passing trough crashes in FCP 5 & Compression, and decide to format the disk and re-install Tiger.
The crashes didn't stop, and now things got worst:
    - When i turn on the MAC, I got no image on my screen, it seems that Tiger doesn't starts properly, and after 1 minute it starts doing a cooler noise (like a motor engine), progressively increasing in such a way that i have to cut the power, because it seems its going to blow!
I try "C" button, alt + option, etc... and no reaction!
    Anyone experienced such problem?
    Any Tips?
I can+t even take out Tiger DVD out of MAC (not even with a stick in the hole)
    thankx

Did you reset PRAM? If you did and it made no difference, run the hardware test from the install CD/DVD. It sounds as if there is a problem with your RAM. You can also take out the RAMs and see if it's gone. (Don't forget to pull the power plug first!)

  • HT5639 I am attempting to install windows 7 ultimate on a mid2012 production macbook pro using Bootcamp 5 in Mountain Lion. Whenever I set the partition size and tell it to continue, the program quits unexpectedly. I have done this about 5 times now. Sugg

The lead-in above pretty much states the problem. I am attempting to install Windows 7 from a disk, but that is not the issue. Boot Camp 5 just quits and reopens. I then repeat. Help.

I am about to run specialized GIS software that may or may not need the full machine resources. I am an attorney who uses QuickBooks for my accounting. The Mac version does not do as much as the Windows version. This is from both Apple and Quick Books professionals. I am using Parallels Desktop version 8 at this time. It does not support QuickBooks Windows version per Parallels. Any other questions? I am a highly competent PC user who is new to Macs. I am entitled to my own configuration choices. That said, I know when I need help which is now.
As to the free space issue I have 665.18 GB free space out of 749.3 GB on the drive. I am not trying to run the 32 bit version. I know that it requires the 64 bit version. Besides, it does not get that far in the process. As I said Boot Camp asssitant terminates unexpectedly as soon as you hit the continue button after setting the partition size. Therefore I conclude that it does not have a chance to see which version of Windows that I am using. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version in the virtual engine (to use Parallels speak), but again Boot Camp would not see that since it is not running. It can't run at the momenet because Apple just installed a new hard drive and I have just restored the data from TIme Machine and Parallels needs reactivated, which I have not done yet deliberatley. With all of this addtiional information do you have any further suggestions? Thanks for your time and interest my issue.

  • Fusion drive ssd gone missing after boot

    Hi all,
I have a DIY fusion drive on my iMac which was working fine since I installed it over a year ago. This morning I booted my Mac and it got stuck while loading the Finder. Another reboot did not help so I booted the recovery partition and ran "diskutil list" and "diskutil cs list". The output looks fine: two physical disks forming a logical disk. But several minutes after booting the same commands don't show the ssd physical disk anymore and the logical disk goes offline.
Does anyone know what the problem with my ssd could be? After reboot the ssd is always detected and it always disappears after several minutes.
    All suggestions are very welcome!

Sounds like the SSD has failed.

  • My Bootcamp Partition has disappear from OSX and its impossible to activate

    Hello,
i`m using Bootcamp with Win XP, and now the partition has disappear from the desktop of OSX. When i use the HD-Diagnostic tool i can see the partition as unactivated. Trying to activate is not possible. But the partition seems to be working, because i can still start Win XP when i reboot and hold the "alt" Key. Then i can choose between OSX and WinXP and it goes fine. Is there a way to activate this partition in OSX? Because i want to delete WinXP from my Apple.

    Hi
To remove the WinXP partition you have to run Bootcamp Assistant (Application/Utilities) again, it should give you the option to (not sure of exact words)Remove Windows and Return to one partition.
This question should have really been asked in the Boot Camp Public Beta Forum. The first thread in that forum is called Uninstalling Boot Camp but gives the same instructions as I have.

  • Filesystem mounts as read only after boot

    Hi!
I have checked the wiki, the forum posts and poked around on the web but haven't found anything helpful.
I have just installed arch on my laptop, and after boot the file system is read only.
Where do I change it so that it is mounted as read write after initial boot up?
Thanks for any help and pointers!

Onwards: That did work. with rw I can read and write. Thanks for the help!
But there is still something that fails early on just after the kernel has been loaded, iit's in the stuff that comes after udev being loaded but the info scrolls by much to fast for me to see.
Thats what I want to take a look at but I can't find it in /var/log, I'm not sure what that part of the boot up is called so I don't quite know where to start looking for a log of that.
EDIT: I have now found the reason for that the inittab stuff doesnt log anything at all ever. Seems like I have to hack the scripts to get som logging features in there. I am fairly certain that its the inettab stuff that doesn't reload the filesystem as it should. I'll get back with the modifications I'm contemplating on making on the inittab scripts to enable logging. Found som e interesting stuff on IBM developerworks that describes the nessecary modifications though its for a RHEL system not Arch.

  • Rac after boot

    Hi,
    I installed 10g R2 on linux x86 with 2 nodes.
after booting the first node and running <CRS_HOME>/bin/crs_stat -t i see all node1 services in "UNKNOWN" state when i try to start them i get dependency failure. looking at the crsd.log shows many timeouts for the ora.node1.vip.
    how can i fix this?
    10x,
    Doron

As asked, you would have to supply information on the actual
device and operating system that runs within it, for us to help.
If you have an iDevice running an iOS8, etc, the product is
not a computer and would not be addressed in this PPC
(powerPC processor architecture build era, pre-2006) ASC.
If you have an iMac and it is running OS X 10.5.8 or Before,
and does NOT have an Intel core or core2duo, etc CPU,
then we may be able to supply an answer based on that info.
The system, device, and era of the hardware do help to arrive
at a better match between your limited inquiry & proper answer.
There is no way we could know what the hardware or software
is, or the situation, when you say so little and/or may have
mis-placed your topic in an incorrect ASC discussion area.
    In any event...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Safari crashes on first load after boot.

Hi, I've been having this issue with Safari for a few weeks now. Whenever I open Safari for the first time, after booting the computer up, the program loads my front page, and then freezes as soon as I try to open top sites, go to a bookmark, anything of the sort. It doesn't "un-freeze" itself if given time, but if I force quit and re-open the program, it runs perfectly, and continues to do so until the next reboot.
I've noticed that the issue seems to be unrelated to anything that would seem to make sense - whether I've just booted the computer up and it's the first thing I've opened, or whether I've had the computer on for hours and have been using other applications, from Photoshop to Firefox. It's also done this across multiple updates of the program.
Has anybody else encountered this issue? It's not much more than an annoyance, but it bothers me that such a problem could be indicative of something more serious.

    Hi
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Not sure about a "known bug" - that's really for the engineers in Cupertino to chew on. However, do send feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple referencing your thread.

  • Wireless mouse pointer which does not move after boot *sometimes*

    Hi,
I have a wireless keyboard/mouse combo from Logitech (MK700 keyboard and MX705 mouse), which uses a USB receiver.
After booting, the mouse pointer sometimes is completely blocked, and I have to reboot to make it work. Sometimes I need to do this twice. I cannot reproduce it and this is not linked to the fact the mouse is active or on sleep mode. This seems to be a race condition, considering it is difficult to reproduce. Once the mouse pointer is working, there is no issue anymore during desktop use.
I compared lsmod when mouse pointer is working or not, and did not see any difference in the loaded modules.
This started to happen maybe 3 months ago. I have had this hardware for two years with no problem in the past. It is not a battery problem either.
    Has anyone an idea?
