After browser updates .dwt files suddenly no longer viewable in browser - why?

I am working on a Mac (Leopard OSX Version 10.5.7) and this morning, after various routine software updates this morning (see below) I went to the website I'm working on to start work on another template file - and discovered I couldn't view the file in either of my default browsers (Safari/ Firefox).
Here are the updates performed this morning - including one for Safari.

I also updated Firefox to the latest version.
I've checked the connection between template and the html file based on that template, and there doesn't seem to be a problem - i.e. if I change something in the template, the file based on that template is updated, fine.
When I try to preview a template file in the browser, rather than opening in the browser (which opens a blank "untitled" file) the finder window opens and locates the actual file in my templates folder - so I can't actually view it.
Weirdly enough, the file DOES open in Opera (which I have not updated) - a browser I rarely use.
This path opens up in Opera, but not in Firefox / Safari

Why am I "suddenly" not able to view the template file in my default browsers?? I've a worry it's related to document relative paths and am fearful of brain-fry with this issue. Any simple way to diagnose the issue?
I'm trying to think if I've changed anything. Yesterday I made some minor changes to templates but unfortunately can't recall if I opened the templates in a browser - I don't think I did. Prior to that, about a week ago, I made some site-wide alterations, which may have affected things - unfortunately I'm in the middle of a house renovation and my work patterns are sporadic at the moment - so didn't come back to the website until yesterday.
Any help would be HUGELY appreciated. My instinct is that it's the browser updates that have changed something - anyone else had this happen to them?

Just a thought, after re-reading your initial message and the fact that Firefox was updated.
In the preferences, is Firefox set up as the default browser for viewing pages? may be it was overwritten by the update or something.
Sorry, but I can't think of anything else. If you can view them in Opera then it can't be a coding issue I suppose - but then again......
have you put the page through the validator? Do you use the web developers toolbar in Firefox? If so, validate the file locally, if not, then upload and validate here:

Just in case there could be an error in the HTML or CSS causing an issue.
PS: Not being a Mac user, I have no idea about how the site definition set up in for the Remote.. Is it normal for the setup to use localhost for viewing? On my windows pc, my preferences for the testing server is set to None if I'm not using a local server.
Also, the preferences do show that you are using tmp files for viewing right?
That's it, can't think of anything else :-)

Since installing the A1000F_A412_01_24_130910_ROW update connecting my two A1000-F tablets by USB to my PC (XP) no longer works. When I select "Turn on USB storage" the waiting circle starts turning, and keeps on turning! Explorer in my PC shows a Removable Disk and "cleverstuff", both with "Please insert a disk into drive". I have tried reinstalling drivers, and updating - none available.
Help, please.

I tried the tablets into a laptop (XP again) and it came up with - USB Mass Storage Device found, then Disk Drive found - once installed they show as two Removable Disk drives", again both with "Please insert a disk into drive" notification.
Any help with this really would be much appreciated.

While researching frame rate I came across this helpful blog posting: Crazy about Captivate: Lessons Learned: Video and Resolution in Adobe Captivate
This is the line that caught my attention: "I discovered, after several experiments, that if you publish a course in Captivate as SCALABLE with a video inserted, no matter what the resolution, it makes the video look pixelated."
When I unclick the "scalable HTML content" button before publishing, the video is fine!
Big sigh of relief! Now I just need to figure out why audio won't play on one of the slides (it has an accordian widget, if that's relevant) and why I can no longer use Effects (I get the message, "Effect file is not valid")

Icon (ie: Illustrator files) content no longer viewable in Finder.

Icon content no longer viewable in Finder. - Anyone have this issue with CS4 and Leopard?
For example: Illustrator file not viewable in finder in Leopard. Interestingly, I seem to remember that when scrolling through Illustrator files in the finder with Tiger, Panther, etc, if you have the preview window active, at least with .AI files, you'd get a preview of the graphics and not the default AI (or EPS) icon. Now I don't get any preview. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure if this is an Adobe or Apple issue, but I'm really finding too many quirks and conflicts between CS4 and Leopard that weren't issues in older versions of either companies previous software (say, CS3 or CS2 and Tiger).

FOR THOSE WHO CAN’T FIND THE QUICK LOOK FOLDER **
It’s in your main computer system LIBRARY. You can’t search for it successfully, but I found it there.
You can also add a folder to your User Library called Quick Look (I named mine Quicklook and it worked as advertised.) I added it there just in case something went awry. You can have the same folders that is in the System Library in your User Library. I do this so I wouldn't mess with the System. If it works without a problem, and want it system-wide, I move the items from the User Library to the System Library.

After an update, my touch is no longer recognized by iTunes or USB input on car stereo

Formerly I was able to connect my touch to both iTunes (Windows) and through USB on my car stereo (Kenwood). After updating the touch's IOS I cannot connect to either. I am able to connect to the car stereo through blue tooth. I did open an iCloud account for the touch but I doubt that is a factor. I have tried turning the unit completely off and that does not help. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it making certain I used the 64-bit version. It is still not recognized. Any ideas on what to try next?

As it turns out, this was a hardware failure. One of the pins on the bottom connector was bent and caused the problem. What burns me is the problem initially showed itself after updating to ios 5.0.1. I tried a reset over the weekend (including deleletion of my entire music collection) to no avail. I took it in to the local Apple store today and they essentially turned it into a paper weight. After putting it into recovery mode the unit would no longer turn on at all. Unfortunately they wouldn't replace the unit for free because it was 11 days out of warranty. I could have lived with the Touch with all my music on it, but it was worthless after the music was deleted. I feel like they should have replaced it for free. I was planning on upgrading to the next iPhone but this has shaken my confidence (as well as irritating the living **** out of me).
To be fair, Apple did replace the player at a reduced rate. That was better than nothing.

ITunes Used to Work, After Recent Update, itl file error

I have 2 huge need questions to be answered.
1. First off, my iTunes worked great. Never was anything wrong, went online at my work and downloaded the lastest update to a cd. Brought the cd home and installed it onto my computer. Then I click on the iTunes Program Logo and error: "..itl file cannot be found/created...default located..My Music Folder.." So maybe I moved it, nope there is the itl file right there. Next I descided well maybe I installed it wrong. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and the problem still occured. I have check everywhere for my problem, and yes I have found some people who have come accross it. I still don't know whats wrong. Please, if you know anything list me the things I need to do.
2. Second off, my iTunes and computer has never Registered an iPod connect to the computer. All it reads is a iPod Camera in the USB directory. (I own the iPod Touch). How do I get this to work as well.

BUMP! Please Help!

When Firefox updated, my dad could no longer use the browser as it kept saying that is it working off line and to uncheck that option. Where do we find the option to uncheck?

My 82 year old dad downloaded your latest update and he installed it. He used default installation as he does not know how to do custom. When he started up Firefox, it came up with the dialogue that Firefox is off line and that he was suppose to uncheck work off line Box. i looked through my Firefox and I cannot figure out where that box is. He is 150 miles away from me so I can't really look at his computer.

Use "Alt" key to show menu bar temporarily the on the File menu uncheck "work offline".
You don't always get a message that tells you that you are off-line so even though I hardly ever need it I do install the following because of it's connected/disconnected icons

Here is something to try. Boot into the Recovery HD by holding
down Command+R when booting. Select the get help online option.
It initially opens Safari with a local web page, but you can use
the bookmarks on the bookmark bar or even enter a website.
Many extensions may not be available but it could tell you if
it is your Lion install that is a problem or perhaps a hardware
problem.
If you can browse around in this mode, then it could eliminate
any possible hardware issues. If you still have problems, then
the issue could possibly be hardware/driver related.
Give it a shot and see what happens.

After iOS6 update, my phone will no longer play songs added to my phone via iCloud

I have been having trouble playing certain songs that I have purchased recently and that have made their way to my phone from iCloud (not from plugging my phone into my computer). Before I updated my software, I was able to listen to everything purchased on my Macbook on my iPhone with complete ease. As soon as I updated the software, I am now unable.
There are 2.6 GB free of space on my phone, so that can't be the problem.

After ios7 update my iPad will no longer mirror to Apple TV

We updated our iPad to ios7 and now mirroring to Apple TV will not work. How can we fix it so we can use the mirroring function again ?

Why do Deleted files suddenly no longer show in Trash as they used to do

This morning I deleted an e-mail and then realised I needed some information from it. I naturally expected it to end up in the Trash folder as always, but when I opened the Trash none of my deleted files are there. I do not have 'empty on exit' set. I am using Thunderbird 31.4, on Windows 7 Professional. I have restarted both Thunderbird and Windows but to no avail. I have not changed any of my account settings or any of the options. This has not happened before. Any help would be welcome.

Your second link led to an item in English (thanks), and showed a page from 'settings'. I had not set settings to 'Empty on exit', or anything similar elsewhere, which might have been what you were suggesting I look at.
Since then, as foreshadowed, I have done an uninstall and reinstall and all is now well. I can only surmise that Thunderbird somehow became corrupt. Otherwise it's a mystery. Still a bit of a bother though, as I dislike not knowing why things happen.

After an update my machine won't finish rebooting, anyone know why?

Hi there. I'm a pretty regular Mac user but I'm having a new problem. I installed a bunch of updates (its been a while since I last did it so there were lot) and restarted. It makes it through the gray screen and almost all the way through the blue, the progress bar runs all the way to 'Starting Mac OS X' and just hangs. Its been that way for a while, after about 30 minutes I got impatient (probably foolishly) and did a hard reboot - it does the same thing. If I listen to the hard-drive it doesn't seem to be doing much, every 30 seconds or so it make a little click - but it isn't reading.
Is this normal? is it doing some sort of pre-binding/maintenance after the install that takes a few hours?

There's no risk to repairing the drive even if the drive is OK.
Testing in safe mode would at least determine if the problem is related to something third-party particularly in startupitems or login items.
It also may be something as simple as a cache problem. You might try the following:
You will need to type some Unix commands. If you are not comfortable with this, I don't know of anything other than a re-install. But if you are careful, you should be OK. I recommend you print this out in a largish mono-spaced font so you don't miss any spaces (or add extra ones). Note that case is important.
Be careful. Some of these commands are dangerous, since you are going to be root.
Start up in Single-User mode by holding down the command (Apple) key and the 's' key while you press the power switch. You can let go the keys when you see white text on a black background. When this has finished you will see a prompt ending in '#', although there may be other messages. Type
/sbin/fsck -fy
followed by a return, at the prompt and wait a few seconds for 8-10 lines of output. If the last line says repairs were carried out, repeat this command until you get a message 'The volume <yourdiskname> appears to be OK'. Then continue with
/sbin/mount -uw /
cd /Library/Preferences
rm com.apple.loginwindow.plist
rm com.apple.windowserver.plist
cd /Library/Caches
rm -r *
cd /System/Library
rm Extensions.kextcache
cd /System/Library/Caches
rm -r *
reboot
This should now take you to a proper login screen after the normal boot sequence. You should then Repair Permissions by using Disk Utility (in your /Applications/Utilities folder).
If you get error messages saying files do not exist, note them carefully and just type reboot. Post back to say how far you got and what messages were output.
