After clean install Firefox address bar does not respond.Have to use goolge seach to go to a website.

I have just installed Firefox. I completely removed the prior install.Typing into the address bar produces no results.Typing in the right side of the address bar gets no results.Checking the manage search tab, brings up a blank box. If I click on the get more tab in the box there is no response.The only way i can go to a site is by typing in the Google box, or going to history and clicking on a site.

Using firefox 14.0.1. Loading a link using right-click and "Open Link In New Window", results in new window opening but address bar does not show URL. However, if I right click on a link and select "Open Link In New Tab", the Tab shows URL in address bar. So it's working when it's a New Tab but not a New Window.

The address bar does not show. How do I get it to appear?

* If the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down, that should make the Menu bar appear. Make sure that you have the Navigation Toolbar and other toolbars visible: View > Toolbars .
* If items are missing then see if you can find them in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.
* If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to the Navigation toolbar.
* If you do not see that item then click the Restore Default Set button in the View > Toolbars > Customize window.

Address Book does not respond, why

Address book is stuck. I open it and it simply does not respond.

So there is something wrong with permissions on your disk. I am not enough of a geek to do other than make the standard suggestions:
Do all the disk utility repairs (even if this means booting off your repair CD), run all the daily/weekly/monthly scripts (I use Yasu for this), click your heals together three times and say "I wish, I wish, I wish..."
If worst comes to worst, you could try
1) Create a new user
2) Copy ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook from the old user to the new user (by way of ~/Public)
3) Open AddressBook in the new user
4) If it opens and if the addresses are there, do an export
5) Delete files until AddressBook opens in the old user with an empty address book
6) import the addresses from the new user
Obviously, I have never done this, and the steps above are an outline, not a recipe, but it might work.

I have customised the position of tabs (Tabs on top) and which toolbar items I would like to see.
The first window I open of firefox 4 always has the configuration as I set it.
Whenever I open a new window of firefox either:
- Right-click a link to open in a new window
- Click a link anywhere (such as an email) to open a new window
- When a website opens a page in a new window
Bad Results:
- The new window does not have the configuration as set in the main window (Tabs on top)
- The new window has a windows type window frame around the firefox window (see two sets of window controls eg. "minimise", "restore" and "close")
- The open page does not show the url - navigating to a new page within this window will not update the url :: strangely enough clicking the url page icon will update the url as it should be
- Sometimes when restarting firefox, it will open the first main window with the remembered tabs and then open approx 8 or so blank new windows as described above

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

My address bar does not autocomplete. Running Windows XP and it was working but not now. How do I start the autocomplete?

My computer crashed and it has been restored. I am running Windows XP and I did not re-install Firefox Aurora after the computer was restored with new motherboard and HDs. All of my software works, but the autocomplete does not. Firefox remembers my username for logging in and my password. It is just the autocomplete. I have to completely type in the website name. When I open the History and Bookmarks window, there are no entries. The yellow star in the address bar also does not work. When I click on it, nothing happens.

Clicking on URL in address bar does not select the URL

I have Firefox 6 recently installed with Ubuntu 11.04. When you click on the URL in the address bar to enter a new URL, the current URL does not select so that you can just type in the new URL. Instead, the cursor will mark a spot in the current URL and if you type in the new URL, it will only add the typed characters in the middle of the current URL, not replace the whole URL as it should. The only way that I can change websites is by swiping across the current URL to select it, then type in new URL. Or, right click and choose select all, then type in new URL. I have tried starting Firefox in safe mode and disabled add-ons, but still the same. I have not tried to remove Firefox and prefer not to if there is a simple fix. Thanks.

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll to true on the about:config page.
You can also use a double-click:

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
*Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

The dropdown list in the address bar does not work when clicked

In the address bar the dropdown list icon does not work when clicked. I have tried resetting everything in safemode and it still doesn't work. When I click on the icon it just highlights the entire address line.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Doing clean install but logic studio does not work. Getting Error message

I have my box Logic Studio 9 upgrade but it will not install on my SSD. Final cut and all other reinstalls worked. Cannot install LP 7 because it is a PPC
written program. Im trying to do a clean install of the lion OS but cannot get my most inportant program to install. I dont want to buy the program again at the app store. What do think my options are? I've had Logic since 6.0

First, get rid of your designer, the page design/code is a mess.
There are a number of problems with the page, not least being the disabling of the back button in all browsers I tested it in, (visitors may visit once with this, but are unlikely to do so a 2nd time).
The menu system is a fixed size so that when the browser is resized it overflows the browser window.
The use of tables for layout is not recommended as it is inaccessible to users using assistive devices.
To put this more politely, if you paid for this, ask for your money back. If you did not pay, then start again and use one of the dreamweaver layouts for your page, for more info, see - http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/introducing_new_css_layouts.html.

Address bar does not work

I've been using Firefox all along with no problems. Then just out of the blue about an hour ago, it stopped navigating to websites when I use the address bar. It's like nothing even happens. I type out an address and hit enter, and it still just sits there with the cursor blinking, waiting for me to continue typing. I take the mouse and hit the "go" arrow button, and nothing.
I can still go places via bookmarks... but that leaves my browsing pretty limited.
Anyone have experience?

When trying to install firefox the program does not accept my administrator password but I know I am using the correct password.

Firefox's installer program does not accept my administrator password. The program won't load. I tried it with version 8 several times a couple weeks ago. Now I just tried it with version 9 a couple times. No luck.
I have been using Firefox as my default browser for may years and would like to continue using it.

Clean installed OS X. iTunes does not recognize my iPhone. How do I restore settings to avoid iPhone wipe?

Hi everyone,
I was having problems with Mountain Lion and decided to do a backup and clean install everything. I hadn't counted on the fact that even after I restored iTunes library of music, videos and iPhone apps, my Mac wouldn't recognize my iPhone and ask to wipe and resync.
I have a backup made before I did the clean install. Is there a way for me to bring iTunes settings so it recognizes my iPhone and I can do a sync again?

I did a clean install for troubleshooting and I wanted it to stay that way, so Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant were out of the question. I wanted to transfer my iTunes library and purchases and to be able to sync my iPhone as before. Called Apple and the rep said the only paths were the Assistants or wipe the phone and resync with the new library losing all app data in the process. Sensing the rep may be a bit obtuse, I emailed Apple and got a call back from another friendly rep who promptly emailed this to me:

If you backed your iOS device up to iTunes, back up your devices on the new computer or manually transfer the backups from your old computer. The backups belong in:
