After deleting Win at partition 3, there is still Windows option at startup

I bought an SSD, and hooked it with my old hdd to my system. There was a Mac and Win partition in my older drive. I erased system files, but couldn't formatted it because it has important info.
Now at startup, i managed to erase second Mac option and second Recovery option, but there is still a second Windows option, which linked to nothing.
My question is, how can i delete that obsolete option at startup? Is there anyway i can manually arrange that screen?

I'm talking about the screen when starting up the computer and pressing alt button. there has to be 3 options, mac, windows and recovery. instead there is 4th setting named windows, if i hit it, black screen and a blinking cursor appears and nothing happens. because i uninstalled that windows, but instead of formatting that partition, i just deleted windows files, because i have important info in that drive.
now, i want to delete that obsolete windows option at startup menu.

  • How to DELETE WIN XP Partition? ? Possible? Repair Permissions bug...

Apple store has a program that at the end of the day it restores the computer back to how it was fresh from the start, simply by rebooting. What program is that. That would be dope to have.
Anyway, how do you delete a WIN XP partition? I haven't installed windows yet, but just want to be sure that I can if I want to. Thanks.
PS> Has there been a fix to repair permissions taking so long bug?

The repair disk permissions in Leopard is not hanging or frozen, it just takes longer to finish repair disk permissions than in Tiger. Here's more info on this one:

As for the merging and partitioning HD, I'm not certain if Boot Camp can create 3 partitions. So far I've only created 2. You can use the Disk Utility to create and merge multiple partitions but that will also erase the contents of the drive as well.

  • Resizing Mac partition back to original size after deleting another mac partition (I also have a Bootcamp partition - unrelated to this issue)

    Hello,
I originally had two partitions - Mavericks and Bootcamp. I created another partition to install Yosemite. Then deleted it. Now I have a grey space where the Yosemite partition was. I can extend the mac partition and click 'Apply' in Disk Utility but after a few seconds, it goes back to it's original position ('Grey space' is still there) and Disk Utility doesn't give any error. I just verified on another discussion that one other user is also having the same problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This will return your drive to one partition with OS X installed on it. Your Boot Camp partition will be gone, but after adding a third partition you would not be able to boot from Windows. When you use Boot Camp you cannot have more than two partitions on the drive: OS X and Boot Camp Windows.

I've never done this myself in this way. However, in theory it should work. If it does not, then you must use a Full Internet Recovery process as follows:

  • Problem with partition after deleting a bootcamp partition

    Hi everyone !
First, excuse my english, I'm from France.
This morning, I've deleted the bootcamp partition I had created weeks ago. But when I've tried to extend the principal partition on the empty space left by bootcamp, the Disk Utilitaire says : "Partition failed : impossible to modify the partition map because the verification of the files system failed."
I tried to extend the partition with the hided partition that we use when we can't boot on the main partition (I don't know how to say its name in english).
If someone have a solution, it would be cool !

Back everything up (preferably twice, 3 times for the really paranoid).  I would use Carbon Copy Cloner and/or SuperDuper to make bootable clones to external disks.
Test the clone(s) by booting from them.
Repartition the boot disk the way you want it.
Restore your cloned system from the external disk.

  • After deleting photos, memory in my iPad is still used. WHY?

When connecting my iPad mini to iTunes on my MacBook Air it shows that I have 2489 pictures on the iPad and am using 28.4 GB for all those pictures. When I open the Photos app on my iPad it shows that I do not have ANY pictures on the iPad, which would be correct, as I have deleted them all. So why are they still using up all that memory? How can I clear the memory to make it available again? BTW, My iPad Settings>General>About agrees with iTunes. It shows that I have 2452 pix (why not 2489 as above?), and am using 28.4 GB for them. So again, HOW CAN I CLEAR THE UNUSED MEMORY, or get rid of the pix if they are indeed still hiding somewhere on my iPad?
My iPad mini is running iOS 8.1.1
    Thanks for any help....

    Hi, Tahunga,
May be you need to do a comprehensive first.
Firstly, be aware that the phone can sometimes take a while to update free space after deleting large items. I have often wondered whether iOS is making the user experience a bit 'nicer' by reporting the item deleted instantly, while doing the actual deleting in the background. Or perhaps its just the time taken to update databases used to record/report used/free space. In any case, try giving it a few minutes (maybe an hour) and see if its 'settled down'.
Next up, in the Photos app, check the albums 'tab'. Is the camera roll reporting entirely empty? Are there any other albums?
Finally, plug the iPad into your computer, and open up an app like Apple's Image Capture or whatever you use on Windows/Mac/Linux to import photos from a camera. Check that there's actually no photos in the 'camera' that is your iPad. After clearing out my pad, I found a bunch of small, unreadable movie files and a few photos left over in this app. I don't know how or why, given the iPhone wasn't showing them, but they were clearly taking up space. You may have somehow ended up with a lot of these.

  • I deleted all my photos but there are still 17GB of photos on my ipad.

I synced my iPad with my mac and I imported all my photos and videos. Then I deleted all of them from my ipad. When I open the photos app there isn't a single photo there nor a video. But when I open my settings to view how much storage I have it says that there are still 17gb of photos on my ipad.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem?
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to install Yosemite after deleting the entire partition?

I am trying to install a clean version of Yosemite via Mac OSX utilities. I erased my entire operating system and now want to do a clean install. I have entered the internet recovery mode by pressing command R once the operating system was deleted and restarting the machine.
I currently have four options which are restore from Time Machine backup, reinstall Mac OS X, get help online, Disk Utility.
as of now the option reinstall Mac OS X is telling me that it will set up and install a new copy of Lion. How do I have it install the Yosemite?
when I first purchased in 2012 it did come with the Lion operating system but I have downloaded and installed Yosemite from the App Store.

Oh, but it is since you have already erase the volume. What more do you wish to do? If you want to do an online Internet Recovery and your computer is able to do so, then do this:
Install OS X Using Internet Recovery
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer.

  • After deleting and adding Yahoo account, there is no Default Account field for Calendar on iPhone

I read the tips to fix the synch problem with Yahoo Calendar.  A step says to make sure the Default Account is set to a Yahoo one.  When I deleted and added the Yahoo account according to instructions then went to the Calendar section of Settings on the iPhone there is no Default Account field any longer.  I am running iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4s.  As a result when selecting the Calendar app and tap Calendars there is no Yahoo calendar listed only iCloud and Facebook.

I saw a temporary Yahoo calndear for iOS work-around in another Apple Support Forum post, and it does work:
Re: I sync my iPhone 4S with Yahoo calendar. Since last softeware update (6.1.3) They won't sync. What happened?     May 9, 2013 2:40 PM    (in response to mus4utoo)
I have found a workaround thats working for me until they get this yahoo calendar thing solved. I logged into my yahoo account on my pc and opened up the calendar. There is a down arrow next to the name of the yahoo calendar you wish to have on you iDevice. Click the down arrow and select share.Go to "sharing and permissions" and your email address and click save. You will then receive an email with two links. Open the email on your iDevice and and hold down on the second link and select copy. This is the link that says add to outlook. Then on your iDevice go to settings-mail-add account-other-add subscribed calendar. Hold down on the server field and tap paste. Then tap next. In the Description box type the name of your calendar and then tap save. Leave all the other fields alone. You can repeat this for all the yahoo calendars you wish to view on your iDevice. Open your iDevice calendar app, tap the calendar tab and your calendar(s) should now appear under Subscribed. This will allow your view your yahoo calendar(s) on your iDevice. Now if you wish to add appointments to your yahoo calendar open safari and go to m.yahoo.com tap the three bars in the upper left corner of the mobile web page and tap sign in. Use your yahoo id and password to sign in. After signing in tap the three bars in the upper left hand corner again and scroll down and tap more. Tap Calendar. At the bottom of the screen tap the box with the arrow in it and select at to home screen. Name it if you like and then tap add. Now every time you want add an appointment to any of your yahoo calendars you can open the link on your home screen. It will remember your log in. If you wish to view all of your calendars, including the yahoo calendars open the native calendar app. This workaround requires the use of two methods one for entry one for viewing, but at least you can access all of your calendars. You can also view your yahoo calendar(s) from the home page link but I dont like the layout on the yahoo mobile page so I just use that for entry. Hope this helps until they figure this one out.

  • Logical partitions invisible after deleting EISA WinRE partition on Equium

    Hi,
I have a double boot with Vista pre-installed and XP. So, I had in total 3 primary partitions and 1 extended with some logical partitions within it. I keep Vista on reserve and use solely XP as boot partition. I wanted to try a third OS but I had reached the max of 4 primary partitions on the disk. So I made a backup of and removed the EISA WinRE partition that was preinstalled with Vista, thinking this would only affect Vista, as my only boot is XP.
I used XP's Computer Management tool for this. But when I right click on WinRE and chose "delete", the partition became unallocated, but also ALL logical volumes on the extended partition, except for the first one.
I tried to revert the process recovering WinRE with the Acronis image, but I the extended partition still shows only the first volume and no trace of the rest of my data. Obviously, this was a big mistake and WinRE seems to contain more than information for Vista recovery.
How can I get back my logical partitions?
    Thanks for any help

Hmm I doubt you could be abele to restore the WinRE partition again without a usage of the Vista CD it seems you have completely delete this partition an also the whole data from the partition.
I agree with you and it was really a big mistake sorry but I dont see any big chanced to get it back however maybe someone has another idea.

I upload a image to the style libary folder, then i publish the file and delete him BUT the direct link to the image still work.
I try to upload anther image with the some name but when i try to browse the direct link i get to deleted file.
If i upload a image and delete it before i publish the file I don't have this problem.
I try to flush the blob cache with this commends:
    $webApp = Get-SPWebApplication "<WebApplicationURL>"
    [Microsoft.SharePoint.Publishing.PublishingCache]::FlushBlobCache($webApp)
Write-Host "Flushed the BLOB cache for:" $webAppbut this doesn't work.I clear the cache on the local pc and doesn't work to..Any idea someone? Thanks!

    Hi,
To check if there is cache issue, please access the url in another PC to see if the issue persists. You could also open style library in SharePoint designer to double confirm it.
In addition, if you click the ellipsis of the image item, there will be a preview panel to show the picture, is it the newly upload one?

I tried to close it by clicking Cancel or OK, neither of which was successful. Is there any way to fix this problem?

Firefox 16 versions still work with your OS X 10.5 operating system, but that is the last version that will work.<br />

  • Lion Mail selects the wrong entry after delete?

Does anyone else thing Mail selects the wrong entry after delete? Say your scanning through your mail from latest to oldest, something most people seem to do. You click on an entry, read the mail and then press delete to move it to trash. Mail picks the next newest entry instead of the one right after the one you deleted. But you've probably already looked at that one and want to look at the next older item. So I have to select, delete, click the down arrow, delete, etc. in order to quickly go through mail, deleting the ones I don't need, and leaving others I want to go back too.
Seems like there should be an option to set what the next entry is after delete.
