After downloading and telling program to run it will not open the firefox install utility keeps saying file is corrupt. I had a computer crash and having to reinstall all of my programs. I have a 2.? Gh dual core processor running windows 7 64bit, which I had before, with 4 megs ram and a 320 gb hard drive so I know I have the system requirements.

Disable, except firewall, and your antivirus and then try again to download from : http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Open the Windows Temp folder: in XP: Start -> Run -> Type %temp% -> OK. Select all files and folders in the Temp folder and delete them, then close the Temp folder window.
Make sure Firefox is not running and that no instance of "firefox.exe" appears in the Windows Task Manager.
Now try to install the fresh copy from the link above.
Do not forget to enable anti-virus software after you are finished with installation.

That message suggests the installer is getting damaged during the download to your PC.
Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser. If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Tried your suggestion various ways but it had no effect the download button was still greyed out and the install button would not activate will keep trying to find a solution. I dont want to boot from the external hard drive that has Lion on mainly because it is a usb HD and the connection to my wireless modem slows the connection rate and downloading would take about ten hours

The iPhone is DESIGNED to switch to cellular data when asleep, unless it's connected to a power source, in which case it will stay logged onto the WiFi network. iPhones have ALWAYS behaved this way.
Either turn cellular data off at night, or leave your phone connected to a power source to continue the WiFI.

At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
