After downloading iOS 7 on the 4s when I iMessage people my Apple ID comes up instead of my contact and when they text my contact it comes to my phone as a text message???( my data is on)) plzzzzz helpppp

Thanks for the question. It sounds like your phone number may not be checked in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. This usually occurs when the phone number is waiting to be activated with iMessage. It should take no longer than 24 hours, and may resolve on its own.

I have this identical problem. For a while my group texts didnt show up on my ipad. Then one day they did, maybe everyone in the group started using the same os version or something. Ever since my first reply to the group there have been complaints of multiple threads. I can not find a pattern for when my group text's decide they want to create a new thread. (it doesnt happen every time) Everyone in the group has deleted the thread, we've all toggled imessage on/off etc. There still hasn't been a solution.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can the preview be turned off for text messages? I remember it being easier before the update.
It's the same way as IOS 5 and 6

Why does my email, not my phone number, display to the recipient when I text message them?

What is selected for Caller ID?

Displaying the senders name when a text message is...
The 5800 and 5530 don't dispaly the name of the sender when a text message is received, right?
Well so I thought. and I wasn't too happy about it as all my previous phones had this facility.
Then a few days ago I got a message on my 5530 and when I looked at the screen there waa white star overlaying the image of the sender on my contacts bar.
Great, I thought, I'd never noticed that before! But how could this be? I haven't had a firmware upgrade or anything.
Since then I've found that I occasionally get the star on messages from this one contact, but not on messages from any of my other contacts.
What's going on? I've searched the web and can find no references to this at all.
Have any other users noticed this feature? And can anyone explain why it doen't work for all contacts?you will have a double entry of the contact, if more than one name attached to a number the phone doesn't know who sent it,eg if you have John Smith and Johns Mobile attached to 123456 then the phone sees the number and doesn't know who sent it, check your contacts and delete duplicate/multiple entries, many threads on this subject on the forum. Always the reason !

After I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS7 I can no longer see the individual chapters when playing my audio books. Also I can no longer edit a and copy multiple text messages like before. Is there a way to do these things I am missing?
Not only can i not see the individual chaptes -- apparently like you and everyone else suffering through the "improved" iOS7 -- when my audiobook repeats a "file" within chapter, which it sometimes does, I cannot get "inside" the chapter and move forward to where I'm supposed to be.

Downgrading of any version of iOS isn't supported by Apple. If you search the web, you'll find instructions that may work, but you're on your own should any problems arise. For many people it goes without problems, but for some it's reportedly bricked their devices.
If you haven't done so already, try restoring your iPhone as a new device, not from a backup, and run just with the included apps for a bit and see how it performs. Cache corruption or incompatible software can cause performance and stability issues. No guarantees, but it's worth a try to at least try to identify what's causing the problems, iOS 6 itself or something you have loaded.

After downloading ios 6 to my ipad 3 , I can't see the pics of many of my purchased albums when I first open up the Music app. Why? And when I click on the actual album, it shows the pics.
After a while it start to work.... No problems.

After downloading iOS 7 on my iPad mini I cannot download apps from the Apps store. Likewise I cannot update the existing apps which needed updating. In addition apps would just close or hang up.please help. How can I correct these?
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

After downloading iOS 8.1.3, I lost the use of messaging, face time and shortly there after my e-mail. I changed and reset everything I could on my I-Pad... same result. It can't be my router or my provider, for my I-Pod touch works fine. Any suggestions? Thanks, Val

As I understand it, you are not able to use iMessage, FaceTime or any email service on your phone. Saying you've tried everything would generally make me recommend that you restore the phone from a backup but that can take a long time, so without knowing exactly what steps you have taken, I would like for you to review the troubleshooting in the following article for FaceTime and iMessage:

It is not the wording but the lack of detail.
The iPhone connects to both the phone network (3G, LTE, etc) and to WiFi networks. Which one (or both) are you having issues with?
If it is the phone network, go to Settings->Cellular and see if Cellular data is turned on globally AND for the apps you wish to use.
If it is a WiFi network, go to Settings->Wi-Fi and see if you are connected to a network. If so, touch the circled "i" next to the network name and see that you have a valid IP address, etc. (take a screen shot and post it if you don't know what to look for). -

You mean lock and home key right? I have the same problem with my 4th gen iPod touch. Seems as though if I hold the buttons again a 2nd time, the iPod automatically restarts as it loads the apple screen that appears when you turn on the iPod/iPhone but I can't get the iPod to stay turned off.

Hi, I am just after downloading ios 5 to my iphone but now the apps on my phone won't work, even the free ones. Have tried deleting and reinstalling but it asks for credit card details even for the free apps. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks
If it is asking for account details then it might just need you to confirm your account before it lets you proceed. Maybe the terms and conditions changed since last time or something like that. Try signing into your Apple account in iTunes on a computer first to check that. Then restart the phone and try again.
