After e17 update all app menus are gone

I just updated my e17 install and now when I click on the desktop the familiar entries I used to have (gnome terminal, eterm, firefox, etc) are gone.  I figured that they were wiped out during the update which is no biggie but any idea how I can recreate those entries?  Is there a text file somewhere I need to mess with?

I think they are removed routinely during the upgrade.
You can use the menu editor to rebuild the menus. Put eapps in ~/.e/e/applications/all.

  • After the recent iPhoto update, all my themes are gone. Now I can't print.

After the recent iPhoto update, all my themes vanished so now i can't print. What the heck?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 and later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • New photos update all my photos are  gone

after my macbook updated to the new photos all my photos were gone

This looks like Photos opened a new, empty library, because it could not access your iPhoto Library or Aperture Library.
Where are you storing your iPhoto Library?  In the default location in the Pictures folder or on an external drive?
For Photos to be able to open your iPhoto Library, the library needs to be on a drive formatted MacOS Extended, and directly connected. It will not be able to open the library on a NAS or any network volume.

  • After Critical Updates, All apps point to CF 7 instead of CF8?

Last weekend, critial updates were installed on our server,
and it was re-booted. Now, all the ColdFusion apps on the server
are pointing to CF7 instead of CF8. (I stopped CF7 and our intranet
is offline... if I stop CF8, our intranet runs fine). How do I get
the apps to point to CF8 instead of CF7?

6, 7 and 8 has webserver configuration tool (aka wsconfig)
A quick way to do it in CFMX7 is
    1. Go to {CFMX7_ROOT}\bin\connectors
    2. run REMOVE_ALL_CONNECTORS.bat
    Once removed, you can do:
    1. Go to {CF8_ROOT}\bin\connectors
    2. run IIS_Connector.bat

  • I updated iOS 7 and my contacts were ok then they suddenly disappeared a few weeks after updating. I have no idea if it has anything to do with iOS 7 but when I email someone the contacts are there. When I open the app they are gone. What happened?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Ran software update and now all my bookmarks are gone.

I ran a software update and when I opened Safari I noticed all my bookmarks are gone. I located the Bookmarks.plist and it shows nothing of my old (2 1/2 years worth of) bookmarks in it. Is there any way I can get them back or am I toast?
    Any help would be great.

    You may be toast.
Do you have any backups of your system, or at least your user library file?
Have you used Spotlight to search your system? The installer via Software Update updates the app, however leaves the Safari folder in the User Library alone. If for some reason you moved this folder, a new one would be created when you started up Safari after the update.
    Please post back.

  • I just updated the new iTunes and now all my playlists are gone!! What the heck?!

All my playlist are gone from itunes with the new update. If I click on "sync" it asks me to erase all my music and videos... Is there a way to avoid doing this? Thanks.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
In the unlikely event that your media has been wiped from your computer see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Help.I uninstalled ios8 using the directions on the web site and now all my apps, mail are gone.I backed up to iTunes first but when I try to sync to get everything back,it starts and then says it has failed. What do I do now.Thanks.Jane

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

  • I have a 3gs that just updated to 5.0 all my contacts are gone. how can i get them back?

i have a 3gs that i just updated to 5.0. all my contacts are gone. how can i get them back?

Are your contacts still on your computer? If yes, set one contact up on the phone and sync it, you'll get the option to merge data.
If there are no more contacts on the computer, see if your latest backup still has the info, if you did not sync after you lose the info, they are still part of the backup.

  • I updated my iPad to ios 6.1 and now all my notes are gone.  Can you get them back?

I updated my I pad to iOS 6.1 and now all my notes are gone.  Can you get them back?

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Offand, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"
If these do not solve the problem you can restore from a current iTunes or iCloud backup.

  • Folders disappear after updating all apps

Spend all this time organizing apps in folders, then as soon as I "update all apps" the folders disappear and the apps are in alphebetical order again. This has happened several times. Also some of the apps will be gone because there are too many to fit without folders. What good is the folder feature if they won't stay there? Anyone know if I'm doing something wrong or if this is a bug with i0S4? I have a 2nd gen. Ipod touch. The folder feature is supposed to work with it.

    Painthead--
I have a 2nd Gen iPod touch. The folders feature does work with it; I've had no issues...yet.
Try this: once you have moved apps into folders--before doing the update all apps--let the iPod synch. You then should be able to update apps to your hearts content, because both the iPod and iTunes understand your folders.

  • I cleaned up my mac and now all my applications are gone. I try to open them and it has a question mark on the app icon. Everything from System prefrences, Everything in itunes, iphoto, preview and mail? Please help

I cleaned up my mac and now all my applications are gone. I try to open them and it has a question mark on the app icon. Everything from System prefrences, Everything in itunes, iphoto, preview and mail? Please help

These question marks are on your dock? And you can't open applications from your dock?
If so, try this: Open a new finder window and navigate to the Applications folder in your hard disk. The applications in question should still be in there (the Applications folder). So drag each of the application icons that you want to be available on your dock from the Applications folder onto your dock, one by one. Take each of your question mark icons that are on the dock and drag them off the dock to get rid of them. See if that fixes you up.
Now, if your hard disk no longer has an Applications folder in it, or the Applications folder is empty, you are going to have to reinstall OS 10.6 then do a software update to bring you back up to OS 10.6.8. You may be able to just go to the "optional installs" folder on the installer DVD and maybe all the stock applications are there -- I don't remember and I don't have an installer DVD handy to look. That would be way easier than doing a full blown OS reinstall. Also, as I recall, if OS 10.6 was on the computer when you bought it from the store, I think there should be an "extras" DVD that has a handful of applications that could be reinstalled from it, too.

  • After recent FF updates, many menu CONTENTS are gone!

After recent Firefox updates (most likely during August 2014), several pop-up menus and the like no longer show the actual content. The menu frame and some buttons still appear, but the main "business" part of the menus are gone!
For example, the Firefox Tools->Options menu shows NOTHING but an empty frame and the "OK", "Cancel", and "Help" buttons.
This is difficult to explain in words, but since I don't see any way to post images here, allow me to link to my post on the Mozillazine forum where image posting is allowed:

The problem definitely exists in FF 32.0.2 and 32.0.3, but I suspect it existed earlier. The same problem exists on every Windows 7 computer I own.

hello, please try to disable the ghostery addon and see if you can still reproduce the issue then...

  • HT4061 I did an update n now all my icons are gone?

I was doing an update and now all my icons are gone.  The phone is charged and has a signal.  I can change the volume but it doesn't receive calls and I can't seem to shut it off.  Help!

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone restarts itself, usually about 10 seconds time. If this does not help, I would try to restore the iPhone. On computer open current iTunes, connect iPhone to computer with Lightning Cable. Hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode. Then click the Restore button of iTunes. If there is problem after this, make Genius reservation or arrangements for service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.
