After editing a raw picture the brightness changes!??!

Hi All,
When i initially open a RAW file it gives my an initial edit screen where i can change white balance, exposure, etc.    So i get the photo exactly how i like it. When i click the 'open image' button i am taken into the main screen of elements 10. As it does this action it makes the photo i have done a pre edit on and it appears darker! Why is the software changing the photo between when i have initially edited the photo and the main edit screen?
I am at a loss!
Mark.

Could you post some screenshots?
What operating system?

After editing a RAW photo in PE13 (my External Editor) originally sent from Apple's iPhoto, I can not reimport the edited photo back into my iPhoto library. The
"Import to Library" command is greyed out. This was not the case until the latest PE13 update (Camera Raw Version 8.7.1.311). What needs to be done
to reimport edited photos back into my iPhoto library? Ideas?

Launch PSE Expert Mode and go to:
Photoshop Elements Editor >> Preferences >> Saving Files (tab)
    Set the drop-down dialog
On First Save : Save Over Current File
    Click OK.
When you have finished editing in PSE use Cmd+S to save (not Save As)

After editing a RAW image in PE13 I can't get it back into my iPhoto library. If edited first in iPhoto, and sent to PE13 for adjustments,

Thanks for answering my question. I always have had RAW checked to an external editor which is PE13 on my Preferences panel in iPhoto.
I probably didn't make myself clear. When I send an ORIGINAL RAW untouched, unedited image to PE13 and do the editing and the
adjustments- (it looks great) and then try and SAVE it and forward it to my iPhoto library, it will not be sent. On the other hand if any editing
at all is first performed in iPhoto and then sent to PE13 for adjustments, and I SAVE it, it asks if I want to Replace this new edited image with
what already exists in my iPhoto library, I click REPLACE, the little wheel spins, I go to iPhoto and the new image is there. PE13 does
accept an original RAW image for editing because it will save it in PE13 in the RECENTLY EDITED column. Ideas? I need to keep my iPhoto
    library intact. Ideas? Thanks.

  • After editing camera raw and export as jpeg, image becomes overexposed when view on light room..please advise.

need some help here. don't know if i can describe this accurately.
i was using lightroom previously. edit my raw file and then export in jpeg. everything appear normal as what i wanted.
recently i got cs4 and started using bridge. now after i edit my photo in lightroom and export, the view of the jpeg file appears overexpose(exposure was increase) and when view on adobe bridge same problem. but if i open photoshop and use my workspace colour setting everything is ok. when i see my picture on iphoto it is normal as per i have edited. i just don't know what setting i have touch that cause my viewing of edited photo on lightroom and bridge goes overexpose. on bridge, thumbnail ok but preview bad...
for the record: i just install CS4 and snow leopard recently. before this i have no problems with LR. I'm also not sure if i have accidentally change any settings.
i shoot with a 5D mark 2 and use the raw file for edit.
    will appreciate any advise. Thanks

Is it possibe to return to a RAW image and edit it once I've exported it to another location as jpeg?
    Yes
I've edited and exported an image to a different folder on my desktop. I've realised I still need to do some work on it
but when I try and open it again in Lightroom ( I see it in Library)  I get a mesaage saying file not found...Please help
We're going to need a lot more details aobut exactly (EXACTLY) the steps you follow after you do the export, because normally I would say this is one of the easiest things possible in Lightroom. Are any files moved or renamed or disks unplugged in between the time of export and the time when you try to edit again?

  • After editing image in Photoshop the saved result doesn't look the same in Lightroom

If I edit a photo in Photoshop and then save the photo, and then view the saved photo (not the original) back in Lightroom in Develop mode, the photo does not look the same as it does in Photoshop.  The dark shadows have been crushed in Lightroom.  If I look at it in Expose mode it looks good, but in Develop it the blacks and dark shadows are darker than the image appears in Photoshop.  This is a newer problem for me, I'm not sure when it started.
    I'm using:
    Lightroom 5.5
    Photoshop CC 2014
    Mac Pro 8-core 2008
    ATI Radeon HD 5770 GPU
    Mac OS X 10.9.4
Apple 30" Cinema Display, calibrated with a Spyder3 Elite but the calibration doesn't seem to matter, I can change to another profile (e.g. a stock profile not from the Spyder) and still see the same problem.
This seems to happen with Photoshop CC prior to 2014 as well.

I'm using ProPhoto RGB in Photoshop.  I have a test file that shows this issue: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84023411/shadows_test.psd
This is a 16-bit ProPhoto RGB image with just 2 colors.  The top part of the image is filled with RGB 10,10,10 and the bottom half is 0,0,0.  If I open this file in Photoshop and use Apple's DigitalColor Meter utility to read the displayed values of the color of the top, using "Display native values", the result is 18,18,18.  I expect it to be different than 10,10,10 due to the display profile but I would expect the same image viewed in Lightroom's Develop module to also read as 18,18,18 in the top half.  But when I do this (import the PSD into Lightroom and open in Develop) the Meter reads 12,12,12.  If I view the PSD in Loupe mode in Lightroom the Meter reads as expected, 18,18,18.
The difference should also be noticeable to your eye (at least mine) without using any measurements.
The result is that the dark shadows appear crushed when editing in Lightroom Develop mode.
The problem happens on both my 2008 Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon HD 5770 GPU and on my 2013 MacBook Air, although the values read on the Air are different than the Pro due to display profiles.
Normally, of course, I'm editing a RAW file in Lightroom and open that up in Photoshop (cmd+e), but this test seems to show that it happens with non-RAW files.

  • IPad will not charge after IOS 7 update unless the brightness is dimmed,..Why?

I recently updated my 4th gen IPad 64Gb to ios7. Previous to the update I loved my iPad and it worked flawlessly. Since updating the iPad now will not charge unless I dim the brightness of the screen, and slowly when it does. Why? Is there a way to remedy this?

I do not know if it's iOS7 related or not. My 2 is still working. However, my first 2 was returned to best buy after the charging port on it died. So that can happen. ANd it happens with little to no warning. CHarges monday, doesn't on tuesday.
As far as I know the issues with 'unsigned' lightning devices is just the cable, not the power brick, but there's no official word (nor do I expect one)
Lightning cables have a little chip in them and if that chip isn't signed by Apple then your device kicks up an error but should still work.
However since this is an iPad 2, that's not the case since 2's use 30 pin chargers, not lightning.
Usually when a 2 doesn't charge, common troubleshooting is to swap out the charger, cable and outlet, to confirm or rule those out. Also to do the reset. (the soft reset that's holding down the sleep and home keys until it reboots). Also to look in and blow out the port in case there's some lint or such in there.
Usually those things fixes it. If not, then it could be the port.

  • Aperture quits, after I uploaded Raw files, the computer shut down during

I am using Aperture 1.5.6. 2j2.. I put in a flash drive in my lexar unit to upload raw files to a new project, I saw the thumbnails images were there, filled in all the information clicked upload.. left the room, came back and the computer was off.. Not sure why.. turned the computer back on and aperture opened, when clicking on the interrupted project, a window opens at the top of the screen for a second and then aperture shuts down, I did a png capture after several attempts to read and the message reads "project untitled 3 is in an inconsistent state, please wait while the inconsistencies are resolved". I can't delete the project because aperture shuts down as soon as I click on the project. What can I do to delete the project? also I tried to upload the images again and it wont upload and get this message, master did not upload, it keeps spinning, I tried another card from the same shoot and the same thing.. Is this a Aperture problem, or could the cards be corrupt from the camera? This was a paid shoot and I have another paid shoot, Tomorrow which I'm canceling until I find the problem.. Also how can I get my raw files off the flash drive? Help my photographer Friends.. I'm going to see if I can upload a card, with images that I know worked..

  • After Edit in IPhoto Picture and Thumbnail Completely Blacked Out

I cropped a photo then hit DONE. Saved new size but thumbnail and picture all black. Photo itself visible in editing view, but not in any other view. Tried solution suggested to hit arrow next then esc but all this did was black out all photos that were scrolled through. How do I crop and save? How do I get my photos back from blackout?

Rebuild the library with iPhoto Library Manager:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Notes - After viewing an old page, the date changes to today.

Can I edit the date in Notes as it seems to revert to TODAY when I'm viewing old pages in Notes?

    No, you can't.
However you can sort by created date, or alphabetically, rather than modified date, if you wish.

  • IPhoto RAW Images Compress after Editing!!

Has anyone noticed that after editing a RAW picture in iPhoto that it compresses to less than half it's size?
If I have a file that that is 11.2mb, after the edit it drops to 1.9mb.
Is this a setting I am missing?
Message was edited by: Richard Hagan

Yes, it will show a smaller size. But if you drag that thumbnail to the desktop you'll find you have a jpg file which is the results of your editing the raw file in iPhoto. What iPhoto is reporting is the file size of the jpg that will created if you need to produce an file of that edited RAW file. Until you drag it to the desktop the edit (or rather edit instructions) are kept in iPhoto's database files and iPhoto uses that information to display the edited version in iPhoto.

  • How to keep the new changes of a raw photo in Photoshop cs6?

With photoshop cs5 and prior, after editing a raw photo, the system will automatically keep the new changes so that next time when i open the raw file, it will appear with the new changes. however cs6 doesn't seem to have this function anymore. Is it right? how can i do this with cs6?

What do you do after making the changes?  Either opening the edited RAW file, or clicking on  Done will create the sidecar (XMP) files which contain all of the information about your adjustments.  The next time you open that RAW file, it will look for an XMP file with the same file name, and use the information contained in it.
If you delete the XMP files, it's back to square one!
You deleted them to save space?  A typical XMP file is probably less than 10kb, which is a tiny fraction of the size of the RAW file.  You need to rethink your strategy.

  • PSE 10 will not edit large picture files after it accepts them. After editing it either changes jpeg to psd or greys out the file.  What must I do?

PSE 10 allows large picture files into the organizer and editor but after editing, saving, and closing, the jpeg returns to the organizer either with a psd file extension or as a greyed out broken photo icon . Why does it cause users to waste time editing files that are too large. How do I solve the problem?
