After Effect camera issue Cinema 4d finding object

Hi everyone,
I'm using After Effects CC.
I've imported a Cinema 4d file into my AE composition, and it use by default Cinema 4d's camera.
I've also set a camera in AE parented to a null object.
When i switch from C4D's camera to AE one, my 3d object disappear, i can see the base-grid, but I can't find my object.
Is there a method, to avoid that problem?
I can't find at all my 3d object, i've searched a lot along the base-grid but nothing. Also using Anchor Point, or Position nothing...
I only need to find my 3d object using AE's camera.
Thanks a lot
Michele

Don't parent your AE cam. This is bound to fail. And at the risk of stating the obvious -create a proper 3D camera in the C4D file and assign it as the active view cam.

  • After Effects CC and Cinema 4D Errors

    Hello,
with the cinema 4d plugin installed into my maxon cineware plugin folder in AE CC, using Windows 8.0, I get the following error on startup.
    after effects internal verification failure sorry! {unexpected functionblock5 flags for functionblock4}
without it installed, AE CC will not recognise any .aec file
Firstly, I am aware this is a common issue. I am aware it has been posted before.
However, I see no acknowledgement of this issue from Adobe nor a solution.
This is not something I expect to see from Adobe as I am a paying subscriber. I just want it to work, I am paying for it.
Please have an Adobe representative read this and provide me with a solution.
Secondly, when I do get the .aec file open, it does not extract solids, with the error 'after effects error: internal verification failure, sorry {invalid solid dimensions}'
I have checked my solid plane dimensions and the composoting tag and external composting tag match exactly. The output settings and my project settings are also the same.
These issues are causing me delays in completing work. As I have said before, I am a paying subscriber and I would expect some resoultion to these issues and I am disappointed not see any so far.
Overall a poor and time costly first experience of an Adobe subscription I am afraid.

See this for a bug fix in the Maxon Cinema 4D exchange plug-in for After Effects CC: http://adobe.ly/PUHVms

  • After Effects Font Issue vs. Photoshop & Dreamweaver

I installed AfterEffects and got the standard font error issue (After Effects warning: The font dictionary can't be read. Please restart your computer. If this problem persists, please go to http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_ae_fonterror ( 83 :: 3 ). HOWEVER, I don't have any font issues with Photoshop or Dreamweaver. I have a ton of fonts and going through one at a time would be a pain. How about making a program that will run the fonts that the other programs will also run?? For now, I have to get rid of AfterEffects and find something else.

There is no such thing as a "standard font error". Sorry, that's a dangerous generalization and oversimplification. I literalyl have dozens of font errors in my database and they all come with different causes and numbers, meaning they appear in different contexts/ parts of the program/ with different functions used. Since you did not provide any more info about your system or what version of AE you use, we can't even begin to guess. and just because otehr programs show certain fonts doesn't mean they necessarily show up elsewhere. You could have the same problems in otehr tools just as well, so I'm afraid "find something else" without even trying to resolve the issue is not really a productive way to go about the matter and not doing the whole thing justice. A single "bad" font can make or break a system and things like font managers, printer drivers and even your bog standard graphics driver al lhave to do with accessing and rendering fonts and could influence application programs....

  • Does the After Effects Camera perform View Frustum Culling?

I've looked all over for a post about this and I can't find any answer. I am curious as to whether the camera in After Effects culls layers outside of it's view frustum, like this: http://www.lighthouse3d.com/tutorials/view-frustum-culling/. I ask because if it does do view frustum culling then it is pointless going through my project and trimming my layers to be the exact length that they are within the camera's field of view to speed up performance and render time. I am currently working on a project where my camera pans slowly across many photographs and I spend my time trimming the layers when they are not visible by the camera which I believe saves time on rendering and processing, however, it takes me a long time to do manually. I know that every game engine does this to save resources, it would be a shame if after effects didnt do it. But does anyone actually know?
    Cheers,
    Felix

There is nothing to cull because AE's layers are not geometry-based. They are buffers that are transformed and mangled with effects, which is, for the most part, a completely different thing. AE is smart enough to not load layers outside the comp window into memory and it can also detect layers with 0% opacity and not load them just as it respects of course the layer visibility, but there is no further optimization like slicing layers into tiles and hiding the invisible ones or whatever.

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere CC to After Effects CC Issues.

Just bought a new iMac maxed out 3.75ghz quad-core, 32 gig of ram, 1t solid state and 4 gigs of video ram; so my machine is more then capable of using adobe video applications very well.  I like to do a lot of dynamic link things from premiere to after effects and 9 times out of 10 I use a black video (File>New>Black Video) as my place holder on the time line or you could use bars or a color matte, doesnt matter..  When I do my composite in after effects and then come back to premiere to render, it takes freaking forever if I leave after effects open.  If I close after effects then do the render, it fires through the premiere render and no problems.
Now I also have a maxed out 12 core 64 gig ram Mac Pro tower at work and I have the same problem.  Is this a known bug thats in the works of being fixed?  Is there a work around instead of closing after effects to render to make it work smoother?  Is adobe aware of this issue?  Nothing is crashing or failing, its just taking a long time to render when i dynamic link if i leave after effects open.  Any help or feedback would be awesome, thanks!

I spoke with vidya sagar from tech support a few minutes ago to get an update on when, maybe this update to fix this problem will be rolled out.  He told me he and his whole team is aware of the situation.  He mentioned its a problem where ram between premiere and after effects isn't being balanced out enough and thats why premiere is taking so long to render out after effect compositions.  With all do respect, I'm not trying to be a nag.  Can you maybe give me a progress report on where the team is with fixing this related issue?  Vidya said your the man to ask and that you're a very reliable resource to get information out of with problems such as this.

  • After Effects rendering issue

Lately anytime I am rendering a clip in After Effects for a project and then jump into premeire to do some edits the render in AE just stops right where it is. Anybody else have this issue and is there a fix?

Image sequences do usually support MP rendering, but any codec that must process frames in a linear fashion may not. That includes most of them. What we are calling MP rendering is really rendering multiple frames simultaneously. If one renders faster than the next one in the sequence due to a longer path through the system buss and you are using a process that is linear then the whole process breaks down very quickly and things have to process the errors, stop the process until everything gets re-set, verify that everything is in order, figure out which frame from which processor is next, start again, then check the sequence again. That's an over simplification of why rendering to a linear codec or trying to render a plug-in that uses linear processing like a particle system can break down with MP or rather more accurately RMFS rendering turned on.

  • After Effects Opacity Issues?

    Hello,
I am currently working on a project that requires a shape to fly onto the screen over some text. However, after I animated it, it is rather opaque and I don't know why... The original picture is NOT opaque, nor is the opacity set to anything less than 100% in After Effects. Yes, the picture is above the text in the timeline.
<---------------         Notice the shape over the text in the output frame.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Alright, let's try this again.
The problem is discussed and pictures are included above.
I was just watching the video to see how it looked, and I had no clue what to do. I have never seen this before.
Running Adobe After Effects CS6, Version 11.0.4.2. Fully Updated. All the footage used is generated and is in the project as .psd (Photoshop CS6 Extended Version 13.0.1 x64) Files.  Quicktime is version 7.7.5 (1680.95.13)
Running Windows 8.1.  Hardware: CPU-- 3rd Gen Intel i3, 2 cores, 4 threads @2.50 GHz. 16 GB RAM Installed @1600 MHz GPU--Intel Integrated Graphics 4000, Revision 9. 2 Disk Drives: One internal, one external. External Connected via USB 2.0 Port. Nothing in this project is using that drive. Everything is running on the internal.
No 3rd Party I/O hardware. Only other running software is a USB-Encryption Key Monitor, required for my machine's operation. No 3rd Party plugins. OpenGL is off. I have issues during RAM Preview, and I have not tried exporting it. The Render Multiple Frames Multiprocessing is off. I am using Classic 3D renderer. No error messages.
And to reply to David's last post-- The text has no transparency, and it is UNDER the triangle.Blend mode on the text is set to NORMAL. The triangle is ADD. And the triangle has absolutely no transparency.
    Thanks

  • Cloud After Effects Update issue

    Hi,
I am having issues updating CS6 11.0.0 After effects which I installed through my cloud membership. Is there a reason it won't update to CS6 11.0.2?
    Any help would be great!!
    Cheers

    Hi Todd,
    Thanks for your reply.
I did try that and it gave me the message "Please contact you Administrator if you wish to apply updates on your machine. Updates have been suppressed by the Administrator". I also tried downloading the update and then installing which also gave me the same message. I spoke to our tech guys in the IT department and they said updates etc are not suppressed by them. I downloaded After Effects CC and that seems to be the most up to date version of the application. So I am guessing you can't update the CS6 version you download from the Cloud.
So my problem has been solved by getting After Effect CC but still weird I can't update the CS6 version I downloaded from the cloud.
    Cheers

  • After Effects Camera tools sticking

While using hotkey 'C' to cycle through camera tools in Ae CC, the tool icon 'sticks' or gets stuck on a specific tool when the tool itself has actually changed to something else. e.g., while hitting 'C' enough times to pull up the zoom tool, the cursor will actually show the orbit tool.

  • After Effects audio issue...(not RAM preview)

I hope someone can help...! I'm having a nightmare getting audio to work in After effects (CS3)? I've imported my movie files and can see the audio wave displayed in the thumb nail in the project window, but when I drag the clip into the timeline there is no sound wave visible (just a straight line)... can anybody help pleaaaaase..?

If this footage is HDV or something like that, there's your problem.  You have to convert the footage to a different codec.  Since I'm a Mac kind of guy, I recommend Quicktime's PNG or Animation codecs.  The file size will floor you.  Deal with it.
And don't forget to include the audio when you convert it.
    And turn off Open GL.
And don't use multiprocessing; your machine probably can't handle it.

  • CS4 to CS6 After Effects Color Issue with Linked Photoshop Files

Hi, I just recently converted a CS4 project into CS6 and everything work wonderfully except that the photoshop files are different in color.  I know this because I took screenshots of the video I was working with and edited them in Photoshop before importing them back in to the project so I know the color should match.  This screenshot may help (as you can see I've increased the brightness and contrast in the affected area so that you may see what is happening.  There is a Photoshop layer that is covering up a number of scratches on the guiter (it is very beat up) and in the original (CS4) project they hid them perfectly while in the CS6 project they are clearly there.
I am not sure why the Photoshop files are acting differently but they are.  I need to re-export, please help if possible.  Thank you so much.  Jason.

In Bridge, my color settings are shown as synchronized (some kind of universal deal I guess), but the Photoshop files and the After Effects file are not color managed.  What is confusing me is how completely "not color managed" files can interpret RGB values for anything different than their face value?
    My Workaround (Not a Solution):
In light of how specific this problem is, I've decided to simply match the Photoshop files to the After Effects footage with a gamma adjustment using a levels effect.  For this situation settings the levels to .88 corrected the problem.  However, exporting the project from Premiere results in a darker movie file than the orginal so I was forced to correct the gamma on the export as well.  The new export (after the corrections) looks less appealing to me but as a standalone product is acceptable.

  • After effects performance issues on mac pro 12-core

    Hello everyone,
I feel as if i keep making similar posts to this, but for some reason i am still not satisfied with my machine. Im using a mac pro 12-core 2.4GHz with 40gigs of ram installed and a ATI Radeon 5770 graphics card.
I finally got around to getting my SSD set up and i have all of my applications installed on it along with the OS. i also have all of my cache files set to my WD hard drive so I'm not clogging up my 120GB SSD. My SSD has 40gigs left so i figure i shouldn't go any lower than that to keep the performance of the drive at its fullest potential.
I do a lot of work in after effects CS6 and i feel that the machine is still going slow.. I was working on a project last night and when i went to do a RAM preview i kept getting the beach ball and after effects would glitch up.. what would be the main cause of this? could it have been that the destination file i was working with was on my WD drive and not the SSD?
I don't know what it is i need to keep adding to this machine to finally be satisfied with its performance.. My next investment would most likely be a GTX 570 to enable CUDA cores for open GL rendering, but i still feel that i should still be getting great performance now.
Any suggestions? maybe I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

Rick is talking about After Effects Multiprocessing.  You can turn it off and on here:
Also, you've only reserved 3 GB out of 40 GB for other applications.  Other apps on your computer also need memory to work and setting this number so low could cause these apps to fight with After Effects over the available memory causing AE to slow down. I would suggest starting with that number a lot higher, possibly around 10 GB.  Then do a bunch of render tests to see what the best settings are for your machine.
I also highly recommend watching the "Using 'Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously' Multiprocessing" tutorial by Adobe employee Todd Kopriva on Video2Brain for more information.  If you really want to learn more about getting the best performance in AE, I would go through the rest of the After Effects & Premiere Pro Performance Workshop.  You'll learn a lot.

  • After Effects Crashes and Can't Find My OpenGL Card?

I have After Effects CS5 (latest version) and it crashes whenever I try to add the "Knoll Light Factory" effect into my composition.  Sometimes it will let me add the effect only to crash after I move or mask the layer.  It tells me: , , and
when it crashes.  This didn't happen about a month ago.  Anyways, after looking at some websites online, I tried to disable/enable OpenGL in the preferences window.  When I clicked on "OpenGL info", it tells me that I don't have a compatible OpenGL video card.  I know this isn't true because I remember turning off OpenGL a month or 2 ago.  Does anyone know what I can do?  Please help.

Make sure that you have the most recent version of Knoll Light Fatory.
If this plug-in is causing After Effects to crash, then contact Red Giant Support for help with their problematic software.
Regarding OpenGL, go through the troubleshooting steps here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405948.html
But note that you aren't missing musch if you don't use OpenGL in After Effects.

  • After Effects rendering issues.

I am currently trying to render a composition from After Effects, but every time I run into the same problem. Rendering starts then suddenly finishes, leaving me with a 68kb .mov file. The composition is rather large, about 5 secs. long and contains alpha. However, I have rendered similar projects without dificulties. Any ideas as to what might be the problem?

Try to debug it. Enable the Extra per Frame Info on the render queue and see where it stops exactly. Also twirl open the extended info on the -coRender Queue panel, this might provide additional clues. it tells you exactly on which premp or layer it's chewing currently. This may reveal the baddy.

  • [Need Help] How can I install the trial of Adobe After Effects? Since I cannot find it in my creative cloud.

Hi, I want to try the trial of After effects but I haven't found any after effects in my creative cloud. Any solutions?
    Thank you

If an application is not listed it is normally because your machine does not meet the system requirements for that application.  Check the AFter Effects requirements against your machine to see if there is a mismatch...
