I cleared my computer but I managed to get After Effects CS6 back by looking in Windows old on my hard drive, every time I try and open AAE I get this error message "After Effects warning: An unknown Adobe Player Engine error has occurred. Scripting will be disabled."
What should I do?
Thanks.Does it launch after that error message?
What version of CS6 is it? 11.0.4? If not, try updating to it.
Why not simply reinstall from your original disk or download? -
After Effects Cs6 Won't Open. Error Code: 16
I use After Effects Cs6 on a daily basis but now when i try opening the program, an error window pops up saying that i need to uninstall and reinstall the program but i don't want to lose all my plugins for the program. What do i do?
...i don't want to lose all my plugins for the program. What do i do?
First thing, make certain you actually have to reinstall. For example, what happens if you just turn off the computer, go have a cup of coffee, then turn it back on, launch AE and open a project file? Or if you mess with your multiprocessing settings, and double-check the drivers for your third-party card?
No Joy?
Write down all the pulgins you installed. Gather all the applicable installers. Follow Mylenium's advice on the Cleaner Tool when uninstalling, then bite the bullet and reinstall the plugins. It's a Right Royal Pain, but you'll have to do it. Sorry, no shortcuts here. -
After Effects CS6 Won't Launch After Mavericks Upgrade.
Hi All,
I have seen a few posts regarding this and have scoured the web for few hours looking for answers. So far all I have found are patches from Adobe and their asking that we uninstall and reinstall the app.
None of this has worked so far.
In fact I've gone from an error of "Can't use this version" to adding the patches to now getting "After Effects Cannot Be Opened Because Of A Problem". It goes on to add this...
Check with the developer to make sure Adobe After Effects CS6 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X.
Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Two questions:
1. Is there a fix for this?
2. If not, how can I revert back to 10.8 without losing everything.Ok, I found one more article talking about upgrading to 11.3 upgrade instead of 11.4(latest). Finaly worked. Hope this helps someone else, this was painful.

Premiere (and After Effects) CS6 won't open anymore!
Hi everyone,
Recently, I've been working on a project which required a dynamic link between After Effects and Premiere CS6 on my MacBook Pro, which runs OSX Mountain Lion. Everything worked great until yesterday, when I got an error message that said something along the lines of "Adobe Premiere has encountered an error. We will try to save your project and restart Premiere again".
I re-opened Premiere, and although the same thing happened again a few times, I was finally able to get back to my project. Today, however, the same message appeared when I opened it again. I went through the same routine again, opening it and then exiting out, but this time, it didn't work.
Not only is Premiere not opening, it is no longer even showing the error message. It simply goes to the loading screen and the the infamous "Spinning Beach Ball of Death" appears. I've force quit multiple times and re-started my computer with every application closed. I've also relaunched Finder (I honestly don't think that would help, but I tried anyways) - still, the loading sign freezes and the SBBOD appears again.
Instead of sitting there trying to fix it and wasting my time, I tried opening After Effects to at least work on the linked compositions that were in my Premiere project. I then get this message before After Effects force quits automatically:
"Last log message was: <140735255806336> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 3
Generating crash log, which may take a few minutes."
So, apparently this has something to do with my GPU or CPU? I'm not really that educated when it comes to GPUs, so I'm not sure what to do now. I have a CUDA Driver Version 5.5.47 on my computer (I'm not entirely sure how it got there in the first place...), and System Preferences has been notifying me that it needs to be updated. I heard somewhere, on a different forum, that this may have something to do with it, so I downloaded what I thought was a newer version of the driver, although this just turned out to be the same version (5.5.47) that I already have (which seems to be the newest one).
So, what do you think I should do? Is there something very specific that should be done? Does it have something to do with this CUDA thing? Is the best option to just uninstall and then reinstall?
If you have any ideas, let me know!
Thank you!Thank you so much, Mr. Curtis! I'm not sure exactly how that worked, but it allowed me to get back on both AE and Premiere Pro. 10 points to you!
Also, for the other people that may have similar problems and are viewing this forum, definitely try this out. Listen to Jim's advice, don't use the most recent version (which is currectly 5.5.47) - instead try a slightly older one. The one I had installed was version 5.5.24.
Once again, thank you! You saved my project! -
Adobe After Effects CS6 cannot be opened because of a problem
Hi,
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place - I can't find sections navigation on these forums.
Running Mac OSX 10.8.5
I tried uninstalling AE CS6 and then reinstalling AE CS6 - same issue happened.
AE was working fine until I tried to open it today. It's probably been a couple weeks since I last used it.
I don't know if I'm able to get any help here. It' just an issue I don't know how to troubleshoot.

I am trying to follow your advice and install AE CS6 through the Creative Cloud application, but it seems that I can only install AE CC through the Creative Cloud application.
The text on this page ( http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-cc-and-cs6-apps.html ) seems to indicate that I can choose a version to download, but when I navigate to the linked download page ( https://creative.adobe.com/products/aftereffects ), I am not given the option to choose which version to download. I can only download AE CC through Creative Cloud.
Below is a screencap of what I see when I am on the download page - this differs from the screencap shown as an example on the page instructing me to go there. -

After Effects CS6 Crashes Upon Opening
Here is the problem:
I have After Effects CS6, and it and other creative suite programs have been working just fine, until recently. This just started a few days ago after every time I open After Effects to start a project it immediately closes and I receive this screen. I don't even make it to a project panel.

I have tried to "check online for a solution and close the program" but not results come of it.
Potential source of problem : I was uploading a Camera Raw sequence into AE when it decided to stop responding. Upon trying everything to revive the program I had to force quit. Since then the program has been acting funky on me.I was able to open AE successfully twice by right clicking the AE icon in my bar then selecting a specific project from the pop up menu.
But since then, this quick fix no longer works I have uninstalled the program once, then re-installed the program, upon which it worked for 2 days, then stopped working and here I am. My exact steps when trying to open the program are 1. turn the computer on 2. click on the AE icon in my taskbar 3.Error screen
Here are my system specs:
I have done all of the recent updates available
If there is anymore information I need to provide please let me know. There is no other third-party hardware or related items on this computer.
thanks in advanceSo I updated After Effects, It all seemed to be working just fine. And then a day ago it started doing the same thing. I have updated everything for the computer and on AE. Any idea how to fix it? If it is the caches, trash, etc.. how do I deal with this problem?

Well, that's information you didn't give in your original post. We're going to need a lot more information in order to help you. For starters, has it ever worked before? What are your system specs? What exact version number of AE CS6 are you running? -
After Effects CS6 Will not open // Does not work with MAC OS X
I recently installed and reinstalled CS6 Production Premium, numerous times. All of the programs work except for After Effects. I get a message saying that I cannot this version of Adobe After Effects CS6 with this version of OS X. You have Adobe After Effects CS6 11.0
I have OS X 11. Am I missing something obvious here?So I have tried to update, and after looking up the error code on the log I still cant figure it out. Through Adobe App Manager I have updates it looks like for all programs in CS. I have tried a few times to update these programs to a U43M1D204 error. Is this a bandwidth issue? I have tried troubleshooting through the FAQ and still cannot figure it out.

After Effects CS6 will not open on Yosemite.
Wondering if anybody has found a fix for this?
All my other Applications are opening, but can NOT access After Effects.
Thanks for any help. What exact version of After Effects are you using?
If you're on CS6, but not on 11.0.4, you need to update
If it still doesn't work after that, try this: fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications -
After Effects CS3 won't open mp4 H264 videos
Hi people.
I've just bought a Samsung HMX10 that captures video footage directly for mp4 files with H264 codec. The problem is After Effects won't import any of the files recorded by this camera and gets the 'unsupported filetype or extension ( 0 :: 1 )' message. Premiere accepts the same files just fine. Is there a way to make After Effects use the same codecs as Premiere and/or some software to convert this files to some AE friendly format without losing much quality?
ThanksAs Sébastien said, convert or transcode it. Other alternatives to putting it into a QT container include for instance using tools like SUPER© to adjust the stream structure. Making AE use the same routines like premiere is not possible, but it wouldn't do much good, anyway, I would say. While Premiere can simply ignore things like open GOPs or other "bad stuff", AE can't, as it always needs to reconstruct a full frame for processing. Also be aware, that there is a million minor varaitions on the theme, as every camera manufacturer seems to have his on philosophy on teh matter, so some incompatibilities are sometimes inevitable. In your case however, these issues may already be covered in CS4, so if you have the time, consider giving it a spin and possibly upgrade to it. in the long run, it may be more efficient than always haveing to take a detour and the better integration with Premiere via Dynamic Link may also have additional benefits for you...

After Effects CC - Won't open due to OpenGL crash.
I can't for the life of me get After Effects to work. It crashes when I try to start it. Premiere Pro works, |'ve tried restarting and reinstalling to no avail. I've also tried running CS6 but that also crashes. There's no way to disable OpenGL in CS6-CC.
I'm desperate for some suggestions on how to make this work.
