After effect high quality import

I'm working with AE CS4.
When I'm importing the footage into after effect, it is loosing most of its quality, although my composition quality is full!
Is this fixable? What to do?
Thx.

Mylenium's answer is a solution for one specific problem, and I hope that he guessed right and this solves your problem.
But, if not (and in general), we need a lot more information if we're going to help you.
Screenshots are more effective at showing us what is wrong than just saying that "quality is lost". We also need to know what operating system you're using, what kind of footage you're working with, what you've tried already to troubleshoot the problem, and so on.

  • After Effects files are imported as audio only (no video)

Whenever I attempt to import an After Effects file into Premiere pro, it will show up in the Project window with an audio icon (but no sequence or video icon) it won't allow me to Put the sequence into my composition. The AE file has no audio on it, and is only a sequence.
I've tried using standard import as well as Adobe Dynamic Link.
This is on a mac on Premiere Pro CC 8.1

This is a distribution format, not intended to be edited, because of the heavy compression. You have several options:
    1. Try with consumer editor, like Magix, or WMM.
    2. Convert to something editable and accept the quality loss.
    3. Get the original, not compressed material from the copyright owner.

  • After Effects won't import any animation presets from Bridge.

I just installed Creative Cloud.  It seems to be working fine, except that when I try to apply Animation Presets into After Effects through Bridge, it gives me an error message saying "Can't import file xxx.fxx: unsupported filtype or extension"
I'm not trying to import a "file" or anything.... simply trying to apply an animation preset to a video clip on an AE timeline.  Never had any issues doing this with CS5.  Anyone know what's going on?
    Thanks

  • Production Premium CS6 syncing problem with premiere to after effects. "The importer reported a generic error."

I have CS6 Production Premium suite. I've had it and it works fine on my laptop for a couple years and just bought a new apple desktop and now when I have a project in premiere, it won't allow me to send it to After Effects. I keep getting a "The importer reported a generic error." Really need to get this problem resolved as the laptop is not as fast as it used to be, and I'm working on a short film haha.
Thank you for your time and help.
    All the best,

  • After Effects movie incorrectly imports into FCP

I created text animation in After Effects, and exported for DV:NTSC Anamorphic. The Quick Time Inspector shows the correct settings at Apple Animation, 720 x 480 (872 x 480), Millions +. It also correctly imports into Adobe Premiere Pro as DV:NTSC Anamorphic. Unfortunately, when I import the movie into Final Cut Pro it comes in as 720 x 480 (4:3). Any idea what is going wrong with the import process?
    PS Yes, I'm importing into a 16:9 project with a 16:9 sequence.

    Well I'll be dipped in...
I had gone to the Item Properties and noticed only that the clip was 720 x 480 without any mention of the 'actual' size. It never occured to me to look for an anamorphic column.
Thanks to both Paul and Neil!

  • Please Help!!! After Effects has stopped importing .m2t files!!!

    Hi there,
I have run into a realtively urgent problem that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I am making a video in after effects cs4 for a client using footage captured in HDV split that show as .m2t files. I have edited with these files in after effect before, but now all of a sudden when I go to file -> import and select the file I get an immediate "After Effects error: Can't import file" ....."unsupported filetype of extension".
I also noticed it wouldn't let me import .mpg files however .mov files import no problem.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks,
    Aaron

Thanks!! That fixed the problem. I'm not sure why when I searched for updates in after effects it didn't find anything.
Thankfully there are helpful people on adobe forums

  • After Effects composition is imported into AP without sound

    Hi, everyone
I've got a really frustrating problem with AE and AP CS4. Today AE has decided it will no longer render my composition that I spent days building. It's really nothing fancy, but it has lots of .MTS files, as well as some .mp3 ones, and I have just come across a post today saying that I should have converted the .mts before bringing them into AE. The thing is, although it sometimes complained when I was doing some test renders, it would nonetheless give me some stuff. Well, not today - it crashes from the first frames of the comp.
After pulling my hair out, I was hoping I could import the comp into AP and render from there. Up to a point, this works, because it does render and there are no more errors about "after effects error: error (4) reading frame from file (86 :: 2)".
However, my comp does not have any sound... is that meant to be or can Premiere be persuaded to import the sound, too?
Thank you so much for your help in advance because I am literally pulling my hair out...

Thanks for this, Todd. I will give the updates a go (EDIT: it turns out I had all the updates...). I will also convert the .mts and keep my fingers crossed that replacing the .mts with the new files is as easy as you suggest.
Still wondering a bit why Premiere would import an AE comp without sound, though... That is seriously odd in my books...
Thanks for the suggestions anyway - at least now I have something to try.

  • Trying to send files to After Effects, keep getting "Importer is reporting a generic error" message?

I googled around for a solution to this but haven't been able to find anything. Basically exactly what I said in the title is what happens: none of my Premiere projects will let me send anything to After Effects, it just keeps setting off a little box that says "Importer is reporting a generic error" anytime I try. This is frustrating, obviously, as the entire purpose of having all these programs together is to send them back and forth and have everything work in harmony.
I'm on a Mac, and running CS6 across all aspects of the softwares, I have the Creative Suite, so all of them are the same version of the software.

    Hi DangerusZack,
Can you try what is suggested in this post? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1050730?tstart=0
    Thanks,

  • After Effects Pre compositions import into Premier

    Hi
I'm trying to teach myself After effects and Premier so please be gentle if i'm asking a dumb question.
I created an after effects composition (lets call it Comp1) one of the layers in Comp1 is another Composition (lets call it Comp2). when i import the After effects project file into Premier it asks me which composition i want to import. I selected Comp1 and when i add that to my timeline it's blank. Am i doing something wrong? should i import both Comps?
Any help woudl be much appreciated.

You need to show us your composition by a screenshot and possibly include a flowchart. If nothing shows up when you dynamically link and AE comp to Premier Pro and nothing shows up there's something wrong in your comp or in your workflow.

  • After Effects reducing quality

    Hi there,
I've got an issue with After Effects reducing the quality of my footage. When I export a file from Adobe Premiere, it looks great in the finder. Then I drag it into After Effects and make a new comp (same specs as the clip) and the quality has gone... it's particularly noticeable on the left characters shoulder.
    In the Finder: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17765790/dragon%20-%20high%20quality.png
    In After Effects: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17765790/dragon%20-%20low%20quality.png
Any ideas? Clip details are: 1920x1080 Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
    Thanks!!

Fantastic - that did the trick! Very much appreciated

  • After Effects Won't Import ANYTHING!

So I just got After Effects ( which I was REALLY looking forward to! ). However, after installation, I tried importing a few different video files, all with the same problem... AE8 crashes! It won't even import pictures! Anyone got any ideas?

Application Data is a system directory and should by default other programs to write data at the system level. You can verify so by checking the directories properties. Right-click, choose "Properties", then go to the security tab. There should be an entry called "SYSTEM" and it should have full access. if that's the case, then the only thing I can think of is some security tool (virus scanner, firewall) having a hold over the directory and files. Temporarily turning of this tool or adjusting its surveillance settings to not monitor certain file types and directories should allow you to rectify the issue. Perhaps such a thing was even the initial reason for your troubles...

  • After effects does not import video when I direct link from premiere pro.  Why not? how do i fix this?

I wanted to add some motion tracked text elements into a clip of a interview in my premiere pro cc timeline. I left clicked on the clips that i wanted to "replace with after effects composition".. so i clicked it to and it opens a new comp in after effects.. Only there is no video opened in the comp.. Theres nothing there. I cant figure out why it doesnt bring the video in? Its not in my project panel in ae.. and ive tried direct link by left clicking the clip and going through the menu.. Tried closing AE and then doing direct link. Tried opening AE first and then doing it.. Not working no matter how i try it.  Whats the fix?
Im using all CC products. Premiere is up to date, after effects is not. I will be updating it to see if that fixes the problem. As soon as I do. I will post a comment as to whether it fixed it or not. In the meantime i could use some help!

  • Retaining transparency in After Effects, to be imported into flash

    Hi
I have created a sequence in after effects using Illustrator images and the partical system. I want to export/render this out with a transparent background and in a format recognised by Flash. Then I want to bring it into Flash and play it over realtime footage from a webcam.
    Anyway I have tried to:
    render it out using FLV
render it out using Quicktime with RGB + Alpha and millions of colours+
Render it out using Targa etc
    I have tried to:
    Export it with SWF
    Export it with XFL
Ant others I just cant remember.
Is it possible to bring a transparent backgrounded file from After Effects into Flash?
If so, how can it be done?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Mairead

Animation is the one I use most often. I should be using ProRes 4444 for ease of integration into Apple's Motion and Final Cut apps but I keep forgetting it's available.
...and here's another candidate: PNG the codec, not the image sequence.  It also supports Alpha Channels, and unless you're making animated lower-thirds, the file sizes are generally smaller than Animation files.
Animation uses run length encoding, so in situations with large expanses of transparency as in lower-thirds, the file sizes can be downright compact.

  • After Effects Render Quality

    Hello,
I have imported psd and ai files and applies scale and transform changes to them. The photos are very high res. When I attempt to render with the settings set to best and lossless, the end redult is a very low res video. What may be the cause of this?
    Thanks for any help

Dunno, but I always create my own render templates... Try rendering to QT:Animation.
What's your comp size? What is your delivery medium (where are you gonna watch this?) Even if your photos are 10megapixels, tv res is only 720x486, so there will definately be some quality loss.
