After Effects 3D track to Blender?

Hi everyone, I have After Effects CS6 and I love the new 3D camera tracker. However, I need to bring my solved AE camera data into Blender. Does anyone know how to do this?
Apparently there is something exactly like this for Cinema 4D, but I don't have Cinema 4D. I have also tried a script but it didn't work for Blender 2.63. I feel like it is a waste to buy a separate matchmoving software when I have the AE 3D tracker.

Blender has 3D tracking built in and it's not that bad, actually. So rather than spending my time looking for longwinded solutions, I'd be looking to learn it, even if it requires some manual work. Other than that I'm sure the Python(?) script you spoke about could be updated and it may be one of those days...

Make transparent text in after effects without track mattes

Hi, I would like to make some trasparent text where one could see the video underneath the text. I am using several videos that I have positioned and edited already in Premiere Pro CS6, and I would like to import a video file with the transparent text After Effects into Premiere Pro. The reason I want to use AF instead of the title maker in PP is that the text expands 4000% and I cannot make text that large in Premiere Pro. Any advice is appreciated.

I do not want to use a track matte because I have multiple videos underneath the text which are already edited nicely. If there is a workaround without track mattes, I would appreciate any advice on doing that. Thank you.

After Effects 3D Tracker to Cinema 4D

Hi everyone, I recently got my hands on CS6, and so far it's great. But when I bring footage into After Effects and 3D track it I want to send the data into Cinema 4D (nulls, camera, etc). I used this plugin here http://ww.maxon.net/downloads/updates/plugins.html. When I export my data and open in C4D, and add my background (my footage), the points don't line up when scrubbing through the footage. Any help?

Check your render settings and match the resolution. Also check your camera settings. If zoom or filmack are wrong, then the data would drift.

Difference between CS6 After Effects camera tracker and CAMERATRACKER plugin from the Foundry

Can anyone who has worked on or viewed scenes using these tools, compare the differences or similarities? The one included in AE CS6 looks pretty good, expecially with ray tracing. Is it necessary to buy the plug-in at this point?

There are a bunch of camera trackers out there. AE's is amazingly easy to use for the right kind of shots but be warned, there are some shots that cannot be tracked by anything. I've done lots of camera tracking with all kinds of apps and sometimes, the only thing you can do is re-shoot. Don't expect miracles from any camera tracker or any stabilizer. They all have their limits.
The key to success is an understanding of the limitations of the software, careful planning of the shot, and then careful execution of the shot. Only then will you get the predictable results. The biggest problem with AE's camera tracker and Warp Stabilizer is that they work without any knowledge or understanding for many shots so users tend to expect success on every shot.

DU ersetzt einfach das Null-objekt, indem du bei gedrückter Alt-Taste dein Bild auf die Ebene in der Timeline ziehst...

Blending Modes ("vivid light") in After Effects?

I discovered that in After Effects CS6 (Win7) some blending modes seem to not work as expected.
I have a bitmap with transparencies above another bitmap and want to blend it with "vivid light" - but the result is the same as if i had no blending mode selected at all. The same is for "hard light", "linear light" or "hard mix".
Other blending modes like "multiply", "soft light" and "overlay" work just fine.
Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with my After Effects?

I'm sorry for not being as specific as requested in the faq. I thought it might be more helpful to reduce the problem description to the most relevant facts first, and see if it can be solved in a simple way.
My former experiences with providing all existing information in the first post is usually met with no answers at all, because people think: WOAH! Too much information. ;-)
Okay, I designed my video design in Photoshop CS6 first. This is how the design was supposed to look like - as it was composed in Photoshop.
There are two layers:
1. a pattern of semi-transparent patches on top and
2. a blue gradient background
the pattern (1) is composited with blending mode "vivid light" on the background (2).
After I exported both layers as pngs (24bit alpha) and imported them in After Effects and used the same settings as in photoshop, I got the following:
As you can see, I used "vivid light" as blending mode, but it looks exactly as if blending mode "normal" was used.
The render quality is set to final quality.
The same happens with blending modes "hard light", "linear light" or "hard mix" (i guess, you don't need screenshots, because they all look the same)
But other blending modes like "multiply", "soft light" and "overlay" work fine (in this case I used "overlay"):
So, the problem is: Why do some blending modes not work, while others work?
BTW: I also tried to import the PSD directly into After Effects with all layers retained, in case something was wrong with the pngs, that I exported - but the imported PSD produced exactly the same error. So, no difference there.

I don't know.. I thought OpenGL in CS6 is all automatically and can not be turned off or on?

The Lightsaber Effect - After Effects CC

Hello, my name is Jay,
And I am a YouTuber, and at the moment I am trying to make a short video on a lightsaber fight, but the only way I know how to do it
in After Effects is track it frame per frame, and in Premiere Pro CC, there is this little play button, and it does the motion tracking bit
for you, but in After Effects, I don't know how to do it automatically, and I badly need to know how because if I make a 2 minute video
on a lightsaber fight it would take about a year to motion track all of it, so I need answers please.

I was wondering if Mocha was available for After Effects in Creative Cloud? I don't see it in my installation and would really like to download it. Does anyone know if I have to buy it seperate from the membership?

mocha-AE is not a separate application that you download. It is installed as part of After Effects.
You use it from within After Effects.

Trying to import boujou .ma tracking data into after effects, seems like it doesn't support the file.

I have tried everything to try and get this to work; i have tried multiple settings in boujou, i have imported the .ma file into maya and exported with baked keyframes and only the camera selected etc. I don't know what i'm doing wrong. I am wondering whether Adobe has cut support for .ma files altogether, which is a real pain in my *** as the built in 3d track just isn't good enough. I have tried dragging the file into after effects, i have tried importing it neither of which do anything. The .ma files don't even show up, i have to select 'all files' under the file type when i choose import to even see the files, and when i click them it doesn't recognize it as tracking data, it'll try and import it as a .PNG file or something. I can't seem to find any plugins that would enable me to import .ma files. I just need that tracking data as a Camera in my scene and i don't care how it is done. Additionally, i have tried exporting as a .txt file and copying and pasting that data into a camera, which doesn't work (unless im doing it completely wrong).

I also experience this problem. My mp4 clips has been taken with a Samsung NV24HD camera and are HD (720p). I haven't tried to convert these clips but I think it should not be necessary since I can play them in quick time. However I have perian installed, perhaps that's why they play in quick time? The next question is then: Is there a similar plugin to iMovie?

After effects error: unknown exception on frame 0 in 3D Camera Tracker. (1) (25 :: 16)

I am getting this error code ( http://prntscr.com/2qbcro ) when i open a project i've been working on recently. When i press ok, everything that was in the project dissapears. I've tryed to open other projects with 3D camera tracker, and they works fine. I've also been trying to re-install after effects, but with no luck...

I tryed to import the actual AE file. It gives me the same error, but it is not starting up a new project, all the files that i've been using in the project is there in the project panel. But none of my compositions is open. When im trying to open them by double clicking on it, it comes up with a new error saying "After effects error: layer does not have a source (26 :: 335)" ( http://prntscr.com/2qdscz ) (Only some of the compositions is giving me this message, all the compositions where i've been using 3D camera tracker in it, is giving me the message) I'm trying to delete all the compositions that is giving me this error message, but when i've deleted some of them, and i'm trying to save the new project, my after effects crashes, and some new weird error messages is popping up, like: http://prntscr.com/2qdtsu & http://prntscr.com/2qdu67. After these messages it automaticly quits out of after effects.
If you could help me out, i would be soo damn happy!

After Effects warning: An invalid track index

Hello, I am running CC 2014 on Windows 7.
I have a project with a significant amount of basic animation (just 2D scale and position keyframing), and while working on adding sound effects, I keep getting this error when I try to RAM preview: "After Effects: BE: An invalid track index has been added to the sequence."
If I hit ok, the preview plays, but with no audio.
Any ideas what to do? I've tried clicking tracks on and off, and it does help, but very inconsistantly to where I can't pin point the source of the problem. There's one track that when turned on, I do NOT get the error, and when turned off, or deleted, I DO get the error. This just baffles me.
Thanks for any help-- I'm on a tight deadline and really need to work through this ASAP.

You have two, and perhaps three, problems going on:
1) Don't use mp3 audio in AE. Just don't. It has NEVER worked properly, and problems rear their ugly heads only intermittently... like when you time-remap it. Convert mp3's to lossless audio files like wav or aiff.
2) Don't Time Remap audio and expect it to work properly when you render. It's better to export out the time-remapped audio as a wav or aiff, reimport and use the new audio clip when rendering. Or just export it and use it in a video editing application along with your animations from AE.
3) FORTY-NINE layers of audio? That's crazy in AE! AE stinks at audio! It's Hell On Earth to mix all those tracks in AE!
I bet you can find a different application to put all those tracks together with the video. I bet you can figure out an alternate workflow. And you should. The best way to use audio in AE is as a reference for timing your animations. I use that strategy when I'm working on my stuff, and when I render, I don't render an audio track... not even when it's lip-sync audio! I match up everything in a video editing application, and I have never, EVER had a problem. Not once. You can find a different application for that audio work -- now go find it.
