After Effects 7.0 keeps crashing (0::42)

Hi there,
I'm working with AE 7.0 and everytime I try to render a project, AE keeps crashing. (After Effects can't continue... or something similar)
Today it even crashed while adjusting my preferences...
I'm trying to render a 9 min composition consisting of 4 .mov files, no effects at all...
My PC is a Win XP Pro, x64, Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9400 with 2.66GHz, 4 GB Ram
I have tried everything that I could find within this forum: I disabled OpenGL, set my hidden preferences, disabled the DLL thing, updated QuickTime, deleted my preferences,...
I would be very grateful if any of you knew a solition to my problem.

I'm actually exporting to Windows Media Video 9.
The video size is 1920x1080, 30fps, no Codecs as far as I know... (well with QT I'm using Sorenson 3 but nothing for WMV).
Bitrate: 2000 (I tried 7000 fist but thought that was the cause for the crashes so I dropped it down to 2000), Constant Bitrate
Quality: 75-100.
And unfortunately I have no clue concerning the MPEG-2 Codecs, I don't know how to change/adjust them or don't use them at all.
Thanks for the quick response by the way
EDIT:
Funny thing is: The crashes don't happen when rendering with QT, Sorenson 3, Quality: 75%, same size/framerate.
Only problem is, I need the clip in WMV and I don't have an appropriate converter to convert MOV to WMV (QT Pro won't do it, gives me some error message) and anyways it would be easier to just export as WMV from AE.

  • Why does my After Effects CS5.5 keep crashing on me when I switch to other apps?

I have Adobe After Effects CS5.5 (v.10.5.1) and it keeps crashing when switching between AE and other programs.  Here's a video so you can see what's happening.
I don't have any special plug-ins loaded except for what came with the program.  OpenGL rendering is turned on and have tried turning it off to see if it make the problem go away and it doesn't make a difference.
Greatly appreciate any assistance I can get on this.

  • After the update iTunes keeps crashing and won't play any of my music and keeps restarting my phone.

After the update iTunes keeps crashing and won't play any of my music and keeps restarting my phone.
Anyone else have this problem and resolved it?
    Thank you!

Well, I hadn't rebooted after the 7.1.1 upgrade, but obviously I had to restart iTunes. After I rebooted my iBook iTunes worked... Maybe the 7.1.1 update should be marked with a must reboot?

  • After effect CC 12.2 Crash - Dynamiclinkmanager.app??

    Bonjour,
    - Désinstaller, réinstaller After Effects

  • After installing mavericks Finder keeps crashing

After installing Mavericks I cannot use my Mac as he finder open and reopen continuously. Also in safe mode. I also cleaned the list of apps  starting after login,  but it keeps crashing. No way of solving this through other threads here.
    What can I do.

I'm having similar problem with my MBP mid 2010 2.4 ghz, 6gb ram.
In my case every time I point at Share combo box in a file contextual menu i get finder crashed and i have to force quitting.
Looking at the log I managed to find that 'com.apple.ShareKitHelper' every 15 secs keeps on logging error messages.
Can anyone give an hand on this?
    Thx

  • After Effects CS5.5 - Lion: Crash on splash screen EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGABRT)

So one day, out of the blue, After Effects stops wanting to open. The worst part is, I can't think of any changes that would have caused this.
I am running After Effects CS5.5 (10.5.1) on my MacBook Pro 13" (Early 2011), which is running Mac OSX Lion. Here is my system profile (with some sections omitted).
Just a few weeks ago, I began to consistently receive this message during the AE splash screen:
    After Effects Alert
Last log message was: <140735295236448> <ASL.ResourceUtils.GetLanguageIDFromRegistry> <0> Unable to obtain the User 'Language' registry key at: Software\Adobe\After Effects\10.5.1\ Defaulting to 'en_US'.
    Here is a crash log.
    Any ideas?
    First attempt
I figured maybe I had a bad preference file, so I cleared my prefs. Nothing changed aside from a modified error message:
    After Effects Alert
    Last log message was: <140735295236448> <DynamicLink> <5> 0x114ee8418
    And a crash log.
Also, if I try opening AE again, after I cleared my prefs and opened it once, the error message returns to the "registry key" alert.
    Second, third, fourth attempt
So I uninstalled and reinstalled After Effects about 3 times. No change. I used the latest download from Adobe, and the original Master Collection image: no difference.
    Fifth attempt
I created a second admin account to see if this was an isolated issue. It isn't; same problem.
    Sixth attempt
I thought about QuickTime, so I opened up System Prefs, and uninstalled Perian. I left the prefpane there though.
Also, I have the latest version of Java.
Seventh attempt (Added 19 March 2012)
I used the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool to wipe out my entire Adobe installation. I still have the same problem after a reinstall. I'm going to try installing AE on my external drive next. This is really frustrating. Has anyone experienced this issue and found a resolution?
    Notes
Interestingly enough, all of the other Abobe CS5.5 apps I installed work fine:
    Bridge
    Photoshop
    Illustrator
    InDesign
    Premiere Pro
    OnLocation
    Extension Manager
    Added 1:54PM, 13 March 2012:
Also, opening up the render engine causes the same error message.

I just installed AE, have never used it, and am seeing it bail on startup with the same odd language registry key error. Please see my post on a related thread.
Any luck here? Would be nice to get AE to boot so I could evaluate it.

  • My imac often crashes after installing Yosemite. Keep crashes after return to Mavericks...

I do not know if these data help me
Need to solve it alone. Technical support of apple me my city is horrible. And it would take days to deliver the machine running . If not invent bigger problems to increase the price of the service.
Sorry for the "google translator english". And Thank you so much!

My problem , it seems, is the summer ! My room has no air conditioning and this time the heat increases greatly . As new Imacs not get hot out , you can not realize how much the machine is suffering .
I bought a powerful fan and apparently the issue is resolved.

It gives me the same error each time. I've tried all the usual tricks: deleting caches, preferences, repairing permissions, trying as different users (including a band new user). I also uninstalled and reinstalled the software, and it threw the same error. In perusing the forums, it looked like someone else had a similar issue, but it was a Windows specific fix, and I couldn't figure out how to port that to the Mac. I figured I'd have more luck on the forums after wasting an hour and half on the phone with Adobe, and still not even connected to the right department.
Also, I validated all my fonts with Font Book (since it seemed like it could be a font problem). It found 3 fonts with "serious errors", but I removed them and the problem persisted.
Any and all help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sam

After 10 hours of troubleshooting, I've gotten AE to start in Safe Mode. I've tried disabling/deleting color profiles, fonts, QuickTime components, all to no avail. I've cleaned all the caches, etc. etc. In reading Apple's support document on Safe Boot/Safe Mode (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564), my best guess is that it's a faulty kernel extension, or a faulty startup item. I've tried disabling all the login items, but since it's crashing on a brand new user account as well, my guess is it is not a login item. I've updated all the drivers for my peripherals.
Multiple uninstalls (using Adobe uninstaller, and double checking with Adobe cleaner script) and reinstalls have not changed the behavior: AE starts in Safe Mode, not in normal mode.
Any advice on figuring out exactly what extension/item is faulty?

  • After Effects CS6 and CC crash when Composition panel is closed, moved, switched w/ Layer panel, etc

Kind of hard to word the problem in a non-confusing way, but here goes. After Effects CS6 and CC will only work if the Composition panel is in its default spot in the Standard workspace, and that it's the only thing displayed there. No layer or footage panels can be opened  - it can only be Comp or nothing.
In other words, AE is 100% certain to crash if:
    - The composition panel is closed or moved to another spot in the workspace.
    - A file from the project is double-clicked and opened as a layer/footage panel
    - Any attempt is made to switch the Standard workspace to another
The crappiest thing about this is that I've searched Google using as many different phrases as I can and haven't found any discussion about this particular problem. It's as if I'm the only one on Earth who is having this issue.
It should be noted that After Effects CS5 does not have this problem on my PC, but I need CS6 or better because that's what we're using at work now. I can't work from home (as I need to do occasionally) if AE won't work properly.
    System:
    Windows 7 PC, 12GB RAM, Quad-core AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.7 Ghz, ATI Radeon HD 6700 series GPU (1GB)

It's not like a regular crash that instantly closes the program and has a "sorry, AE crashed" popup. It basically just freezes until the process is forced to quit.

  • After Effects 11.0.4 Crashing on Mavericks 10.9.1

I cannot run After Effects 11.0.4 using Mac OS 10.9.1 After Effects is crashing before it opens completely.
It produces an "After Effects Alert" that says:
    Last log message was: <140735176479504> <DynamicLink> <5> /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/dynamiclink/CS6/dynamiclinkmanager.app
A crash log is then generated.
This is an urgent issue because client work is waiting on it.
Anyone have any idea what's wrong? Work arounds?

From what I have seen going through other forums, and not just in the After Effects Category, this is a OS problem. Some state that it may be a permissions issue where while working a false error is generated which says you do not have the rights to use AE and a crash ensues. A fix for this has been signing in as a guest and then doing the work needed. Most of the time this does not fix any errors, but this is because Adobe is just now starting to debug for Mavericks.
As a rule of thumb, do not upgrade OS when client work depends on a program working. Always use a trusted OS and wait for the new one to be debugged and fixed before upgrading. Your clients and you will suffer for this very reason. If you are on a deadline, I would seriously try my best to either revert to Mountain Lion, or quickly find a seperate computer which you can use to finish your work.

  • Adobe After Effects CS5 & Quicktime ERRORS / crashing...

    Greetings,
I am having a lot of AE CS5 crashing (app just quits for no reason while scrubbing) and other weirdness...like today, and I am being told on the Adobe Boards that it 's Quicktime related. I am rendering a 3 minute piece in ProRes 4:2:2 (1280x720p) to my RAID (no special plug-ins or anything) and I get the following error at the very end of every render:
+After Effects Error: Rendering error while writing to file (insert my RAID path here). An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted (-1610153464)+
They are telling me the long number at the end indicates a Quicktime problem, which is unfortunately not so rare with 64bit AE due to how Apple does not really have a 64bit Quicktime and Adobe needs to work their way around some of that.
Is this true? Can I fix this on my own or is there a 64-Bit QT Pro coming with the new Final Cut Studio? Any input is gratefully appreciated...thanks.
    Joey

  • After Effects CS5.5 error: crash in progress last logged message was 3300 DynamicLink 5

Randomly when I start after effects CS5.5 and premiere pro CS5.5 I get the following error:
After effects error: crash in progress last logged message was <3300> <DynamicLink> <5> 000000001AAB2080
    I have all programs updated.
    PC Specs:
    i7 930 @ 2.8GHz
    12GB RAM
    Nvidia GTX 570
    Windows 7 Proffesional 64bit
    Thanks in advance guys!

What does "randomly" mean? What do you do, when the issue appears? Do you run games before? Use other programs? Also check the Event Viewer for the exact cause...

  • After effects import failing and crashing

After effects CC 2014.1.1 on imac i7 running OSX 10.10.1
Any actions within after effects evokes an error "warning undo group mismatch, will attempt to fix"
This often either crashes software or deletes without trace all imported recent files.
A connecting issue to this is tat the import function via the menu or the short cut only works once. a second import and the import window does not show up. The only way is to drag and drop.
This then seems to be one of the trigger for the mismatch issue thus AE deleting all imported files even after working on them.
I have tried both AE CC and AE CC2014 with the same problems on both software versions
I have tried deleting the preferences from both software versions
I have also tried a complete uninstall and re install, this meant I lost CC and now only have CC2014 but it STILL has the same problem.
Im reallly stuck here and I have a deadline luming and a workflow that has more or less come to a standstill.
The only other thing I can say that isnt my day to day work flow is that Im using a C4D .aec file for camera data and image sequence but not sure if that would cause a n issue.
