After Effects CS6 no longer works now I've installed Yosemite.

Hi since installing Yosemite on my 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 Late 2013 Mac Pro with 16 GB of Ram. I crashes on start up. I reinstalled and then updated to 11.0.4 and it still crashes although I think the error has changed. When I restart I get the error:

This is a big problem as After Effects is key to my business and right now I cannot use it.

I tried of many ways and the software Affter Effects CC doesn't appear in my CC, why? Is the only software i can't see.

After Effects requires a 64-bit OS per the system requirements. That might be the cause. It is available as a trial on 64-bit system.

Multiproccesing isn't working [After Effects cc 2014]

I discovered that i could process my after effects videos much faster than now (50 minutes for a 8 second video) so i enabled multiproccesing and everything was okay but when i want to process a video, the video wouldn't process, i thought that after effects crashed or something so i closed it, i tried again later, the same so i decided to wait, 2 hours and that wasn't proccesing, i have 8 cpu's.
Anyone knows what is going on? I also get a error message when i click "stop".

You have several things going on here. First, not all effects are compatible with MP rendering. Second, you have not left any CPU's for other apps. You can't do that and have AE work successfully. Third, you are rendering an h.264 compression in a Quicktime Container which is definitely not recommended and most definitely not multi processor compatible. In fact if you want a movie in the h.264 container you should only be using the Adobe Media Encoder. MP, or rather Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously, is a work in progress. It is much better than it was when first introduced. Hopefully, it will be much better in the next release, but for now follow the recommendations below.
Some video codecs will not work with multi processing enabled because they render one frame at a time and cannot move on to the next frame until that frame is completed. IOW, some codecs must work linearly.
For an effect to work with Render Multiple Frames simultaneously turned on the effect must be coded in a way that will take advantage of that process. If it is not, then turning MP on will either slow things way down or cause a failure.
Temporal effects (changes in time or changes over time) that involve referring to a previous frame for calculations for the next frame may or may not work with MP turned on. It depends on how the temporal effect was coded
The codecs for some source footage do not respond well or even at all to MP processing
If turning MP on for a complex composition with more than simple transformation (position, rotation, scale and opacity) changes slows the processing down or causes a failure then an effect or, the codec used by source footage, or the codec you have chosen to render to, are not compatible with MP rendering
If MP is slow or failing the first thing you should do is to make sure that adequate memory is assigned to other apps, that you have at least 2 CPU's assigned to other apps, and that the total number of CPU's assigned equals the total number of CPU's available. If you are still having problems try rendering to an Image Sequence (jpeg, tiff, png). If that does not help, try turning off effects one at a time until you find the effect that is not MP compatible.
I only use MP rendering for projects that I know will respond well. For some projects I don't even try. Nearly all of my renders are done directly in the Adobe Media Encoder because I don't have the time to sit around and not be working on a project while things are getting rendered. A project is either ready for a motion test or for final render and it is sent to the AME, then I immediately start or open another project and get to work while AME is churning out my test renders or my final deliverables.

I am new to After Effects and Motion 5 and I have a question

I am currently working on a personal side project for a family member. She would like me to make a video with recorded audio and pictures from the 1920’s for my grandmother. I would like to give the parallax and 2.5D effect a try but as I never used After Effects or Motion before I am a little overwhelmed.
I have about 80 images to animate. Right now I am in the ‘Photoshop phase’. I am going through each image and separating the foreground, mid-ground, and background, into separate layers and saving the .psd files to eventually bring into Motion 5 (or After Effects) and animate.

I really wanted to animate the images I had in a similar fashion. I really loved how they seemed to move and know that I can accomplish this appearance with the pin tool in After Effects. After seeing this video however, I continued looking into the 2.5d effect and found this movie for Motion 5:

I bought Motion 5 because I thought the interface seemed more user friendly to newcomers (like myself), the effects were similar, and because I couldn’t afford to pay for After Effects every month.
But now I am kicking myself. Motion 5 is lovely and I do like the camera effects but I don’t think I can accomplish the ‘puppet’ effect with it like I can in After Effects. Does anyone know if it is possible? Is there a plugin for Motion 5? Can I send my .psd files into Motion 5, set up the timeline and cameras, save it, and then move it into After Effects and then use the pin tool to manipulate the images and layers?
I have read that some say it is hard to move Motion files into After Effects? If this is the case, could I save the Motion file, open it in Adobe Premiere, and THEN open it in After Effects and play around with it?

2.5D is fairly easy to do in Motion... that's the good news. The bad news is: if you don't know what you need to do to accomplish it, it's practically impossible to do easily or well.
The first problem to overcome is perspective, and the other problem is parallax.
These two tutorials (by Mark Spencer) will give you all the information you need dealing with moving Photoshop Layers in Z-space. Even though the point of the tutorials is a "fly through", the same information applies to creating 2.5D. Just animate the camera laterally (sweep) instead of dolly.

PLEASE HELP!! Weird screen glitch in After Effects CS5.5?!? (Windows 7)

I was editing some videos in the trial of After Effects CS5.5, and I went to render something in full screen (I've been using it for two weeks now, and i've rendered in full screen before) and suddenly a bunch of error messages started popping up,and After Effects closed out. Now every time I open After Effects, its like the screen zooms in: I can't see my taskbar or my tools for after effects, or anything on the edges at all. Production Premiere and everything else works fine, but After Effects is always like this now. I've searched all the help centers, and google, and youtube, and I've found nothing. I also tried unistalling and reinstalling the Master Collection trial but it still came up in full screen.
PLEASE HELP I only have 12 days left on trial and I'm trying to finish one last video.

Try deleting your preferences. If that doesn't do it, Reboot, Use the Adobe Cleaner Tool, then re-install AE. If that doesn't work let us know. It's probably your preferences.

I can't see WMV files in After Effects CC since I installed the AE patch 12.0.1

I downloaded yesterday the Mac update called Maverik (OS X 10.9) and also the After Effects patch 12.0.1 in order to open AE using Maverik as operative system (before downloading the AE patch was impåossible to open After Effects CC). The problem now is that I was able before to see and edit window media files in After Effects but now, when I open the project that I've been working on, After Effects shows an error "After Effects error: file xxxx.wmv cannot be imported - this wmv file is damaged or unsupported". I am pretty sure that all the wmv files are not damage as Iø'e been working on these files the last couple of months. Besides I have imported again the same wmv files from colleagues who can see and edit these files in After Effects CC for PC.
Would you please advice me on this? Should I download a codec or Adobe will resolve this issue with the next update for After Effects CC?

Can you open your WMV files in QuickTime Player?
After Effects on Mac does not read WMV files natively. You probably have the Flip4Mac QuickTime components installed, which allows QuickTime to read WMV files, and through that AE can read WMV files.
My guess is that Flip4Mac is either having problems on your machine after the upgrade to Mavericks, or it is not compatible with Mavericks. I didn't see any notices on Telestream's site, so I would guess the former.

How do I generate HTML5 files from After Effects CC?

Forgive my n00b question, but I've built a small video in After Effects that I need to import into Adobe Edge Animate. Edge says it will take .ogg files, so how do I convert an After Effects project to output usable footage available to HTML5 sources?

Unfortunately, Adobe Media Encoder doesn't have native support for ogg/theora or ogg/vorbis. However, you can install a (currently beta) plug-in on your system which will enable ogg encoding in AME:

Or, if you'd rather, you can also install the Firefox extension Firefogg, and encode to ogv directly from Firefox:

I've had excellent results using both of the above methods.

How do I get the windows after effects update to complete without error?

I run windows 7 home professional. I have CC installed. Things are fine except for After Effects. I get an update available and attempt to install it. I have removed after effects, run the adobe cleaner, reinstalled, and still get the update available, and still get the update failed message.
Any advice?

Re-linking After Effects assets inside Premiere

I have a premiere project that has a dynamically linked After Effects project. I wanted to rename the folder that all my footage resides in. When I do that I relink all my footage / After Effects files when I open the project. That all works great. However, the After Effects project itself is referencing the footage in the old location resulting in bars and tones showing up. How do I tell After Effects where the footage is now?
If I open up the After Effects project and double click on one of the missing assets to relink it, it trys to browse my hard drive looking for what I named the sub-clip inside Premiere. I need it to reference a clip inside Premiere.

That does work: you don't need to reference a clip inside PrPro, 'cos a clip inside PrPro is just the link to a footage on your hard drive. When you replace a clip or a group of clips in PrPro timeline with dynamically linked comp, AE creates a new composition and imports those clip(s) into the project. But then again, those clips are just links to original footages on your hard drive with properly set In and Out points in the newly created composition. Hence, select a missing clip in AE Project panel, right-click and choose Replace Footage -> File..., locate the original footage on your hard drive and open it up. If all missing footages are in the same folder, AE will automatically find the rest.

After Effects CS5 Crash Fix

I'm not sure if this helps or not, but since I installed the new Snow Leopard graphics update (Software Update), After Effects and Photoshop CS5 are now stable and now longer crash / lock up the system.

After 2 days trying to get AE and Premiere past the mediacore initialization message, I finally stumbled on this little message. Updating Hear definitely solves the problem!

Premiere CC cannot render After Effects files

Windows 8 64-bit, graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (3GB), 32GB RAM, i7 Intel processor
Earlier today I was making changes to a 13 minute film. It has a few After Effects animated stills. Everything was fine until I made some tweaks to the animations in After Effects. BIG MISTAKE. Now the files won't render in Premiere, even though they did last week. The changes were minor. I've tried clearing cache for both Premiere and After Effects, uninstalled and reinstalled both programs. No changes. I tried creating a new timeline and importing the sequence over, but now one of the AE files in the timeline says "Media Offline" even though I've made no changes to it. This ONLY happens with Premiere projects containing these AE files. I tried messing around with other projects, and Premiere works fine. I can edit the animations in After Effects just fine, but Premiere won't render them. It freeze or crashes every time. For some reason, it only started messing up once I edited the AE files this morning and I have no idea why since this is not the first wave of changes I've made to them. Premiere and After Effects are updated, as is my graphics card driver.

Thank you both, Jim and Greg, for the help so far. I think I managed to fix it on my own. I was working with 4 After Effects animations at very high resolutions (because the footage had to zoom and pan). I was able to render 3 of them into .avi files, but the 4th was too corrupted. After Effects crashed every time, so I re-created the composition from a new still. That worked, and I rendered that clip into an .avi file as well. After I managed to remove the After Effects file from the Premiere Pro sequence, Premiere stopped crashing. I imported the .avi files and was able to edit and render again. I can only assume Premiere was having too much with the original AE files, either because they were too large, corrupted, or both. Still don't know what went wrong when I edited them Monday morning, but thankfully I was able to work around it.

How to see preview on TV in after effects?

I have downloaded Tv zaek plug in to see preview on tv in after effects.I did install it now i open after effects it shows in start to adjust settings but after i dont know where to go and what button to press to see preview on tv please guide if any one know.Step by step.

You can change the preferences in the application, but be sure that you have a video card that will support it.
