After Effects CC 2014 installation problem
I recently updated my After Effects, however it didn't work properly. Now I am trying to reinstall it, but it won't go past 52% of installation. I am installing it with the Creative Cloud app.
Please tell me what to do to unbug this. I tried reinstalling the Creative Cloud app, I tried installing earlier versions of After Effects, but all to no avail.
I have a video that I need to finish and deliver to a client ASAP, and I can't do anything, so please help!
I uninstalled the earlier version of After Effects right after the new one installed, which probably wasn't such a good idea..
Run the cleaner tool and try again.

Adobe After Effects CS4 trial installation problem, Please Help!
Ok, I downloaded the trail version of Adobe After Effects CS4 onto my PC (Windows XP). When I try to run the setup (by double-clicking it), a window pops up saying 'Adobe setup has encountered a problem and needs to close.' Does anyone know why this is, and how I might be able to fix it? I already tried re-downloading it, and I checked the system requirements. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO USE THIS! If it will help here are my PC's specs:
Operating System - Windows XP with service pack 3
RAM - 2.0GB
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4830
Processor - Intel Core 2 Dual 2.2GHz
Monitor Resolution - 1280x1024
ThanksVerify the following:
a) you run as administrator
b) your virus scanner and firewall don't interfere
c) you have enough temporary disk space
d) no other tools are interfering
For b), simply turn those tools off during install. For c), check your user temp directory (C:\Documents and Settings\You\Local Settings\Temp). Clean it out either manually or using tools like CCleaner. Also defragment your drive. For d), you may need to uninstall otehr Adobe software. also monitor your task manager for processes and services that may have a negative impact. A dump of those can easily be generated using HijackThis!, so you can post the list here for verification, if needed. also provide any otehr info that could be important, like e.g. special drivers or user settings.

After Effects 5.5 installation problem
I'm trying to install the trial for CS5.5 Master Collection, and some products install correctly (like Photoshop), but After Effects gives me an error.
My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bits.

Problem updating After Effects CC (2014) I get this message: Update Failed Error encountered during installation. (U44M1P7)

It’s version 13.1.1 It’s a trial version.
I am updating it from the Creative cloud desktop application.
I have the photography subscription with Lightroom and Photoshop with Creative Cloud.
I was interested in trying out the video software and have trials of Premiere Pro as well as others. The CC desktop app alerted me to the AF update just as it does for the others I subscribe to plus the ones I am using as trials. I have not had any problems with the other apps (trial or not), only with AF.

Hi, trouble with loading SWF file into After effects cc 2014, "format not supported" is the message. The same project is opened by another identic Macpro like mine...

Problem importing .vpe into After Effects CC 2014
I am having Issues importing .vpe files exported from Photoshop CC 2014 (2014.1.0 - most recent update to date) into After Effects CC 2014 (13.0.2.3 - latest update to date) on Mac OSX Mavericks 10.9.4. After a (lengthy) couple of chats to Adobe customer support I was advised to update both programs to fix my original issue outlined in this thread VPE issue and this has half way fixed my issues (The export from Photoshop now works properly).
The problem I have now is that when importing the .vpe file to After Effects I get an error:
"Unable to execute script at line 107. Function newLayer.transform[sel].setValue is undefined".
The process creates a composition and a folder which is meant to contain the .png's. Inside the composition, the one imported .png is present, but no parent or camera layers.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is the bug present on Windows? Does anyone know if this will be fixed in the update forthcoming? It isn't listed as one of the stand out bug fixes.

We're getting kinda tired of the Beta nature of the CC suite here in my department at work. Our internet speeds are currently not great and so having to download so many updates is a bit of an issue. Is there any other way to download updates remotely? That is to say on a different machine than the install of After Effects? Could I perhaps download update files at home, put them on a USB drive and bring them in? -
After Effects CC (2014) not updating (Mac)
Having issues trying to update After Effects 2014 as mentioned in the title.

Optical Flares in After Effects CC 2014
Hello,
I'm new to After Effects and Video Copilot video making. I downloaded the Video Copilot's Optical Flares Effect plug-in for Adobe After Effects CC 2014 Release from it's website and now I've three items in the compressed zip file:
1. OpticalFlares Presets
2. Optical Flares Textures
3. OpticalFlares
From what I've come to know about the installation process of Optical Flares as shown by Mr. Andrew Krammer in it's website, I drag-dropped the folder containing all these items. After this when I open After Effects CC 2014 Release I make a New Composition> Layer> Solid. Then I go to the Effects options and can't see Video Copilot as an effect in it. Why is it so? Does the 2014 Release doesn't support it or should I go back to AE's previous versions like CC (12.0) or CS6?

My new company installed Adobe Creative Cloud (There was some annoying Proxy issues at first, because of the seriously tight I.T policies) but we are having some serious resolution issues with After Effects CC 2014 (also have this resolution problem with Adobe Premiere, Media Encoder, Muse) on Windows 8.1 Pro on a Dell Precision M3800 laptop with icons and interface looking too small and hard to see, is there a fix, an update or a work around, can anyone help?
Any help will be appreciated!

RamonHi Todd is there a time-frame for this fix, there is a lot of pressure on me, because I convinced my company to get the Creative Cloud and quite a lot of the CC software is not compatible with the latest Windows 8.1 OS.
Is there at least a work around, until this big fix comes along?

Bridge CC no compatible with the new After Effects CC 2014 ?
Hi, I'm updating the Adobe suite (CC 2014) .but After Effects CC 2014 no longer works with the old Bridge CC (there is no update of Bridge). Since "browse presets" in After Effects when choosing a preset (dissolves etc) there is an error message:
"After Effects error: can not import file" Entries lum.-marq.calque.ffx "unsupportedfiletype or extension (0 :: 1). With all presets.
I tried on other computers with other adobe updated it makes such licenses except with the old version of adobe after effects (after CC effects) I tried too to change language of Bridge and After effects (beharps this is a langage compatibility problem) but the problem is the same.
So I think the new version after effects CC 2014 is not compatible with the presets adobe bridge CC ??
How can I do? I have to go through the old version of after to apply a preset Bridge? I can not even download it in cloud creativ ... there is only the new version of after effects...You need to ask in Community: Premiere Pro | Adobe Community but do not expect Adobe to discuss future plans

After Effects CC 2014 crashing on startup
I downloaded the trial version of After Effects. By downloading it, it activated a 30-day trial. However, every time I try to start up the program, it gives me an error and crashes. I read on the forums issues about fonts and OpenGL, but it doesn't even give me detailed information on the crash. Anybody able to give me a bit of an assist on this? I use Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6 on my PC. I primarily use Sony Vegas for my video work, however I was sent a file on AE and rather than get in contact with the client to have them resend it in .veg, I figured I could download the trial and open it there. No such luck. I've finished the work, but now this AE issue is just bugging me. I am interested in trying it, but if I can't get into the trial, it really curbs my interest in the program.
What exact version of After Effects? Include the minor version number---e.g., After Effects CC (12.2.1) or After Effects CS6 (11.0.4). Do not just say "After Effects with the latest updates" or "After Effects CC"; give the specific version number.
After Effects CC 2014.2 (13.2) (Creative Cloud says it is up to date, so I'm assuming it is 13.2)
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)

N/ADo you have Service Pack 1 for Windows 7? It's listed in the system requirements for CC 2014. If you don't have SP1, AE won't run.
That GPU sniffer error message is usually what happens. This should be a simple fix! Of course, you should always take the normal precautions when updating an OS, but still... -
After Effects CC 2014 - Rendering / saving project file to CS6
Hello all,
I'm writing here to try to understand the st**** decision to exclude mp4 and mpeg from the render possibilities from After Effects CC 2014. I would gladly go back to CS6 but as of now I have more than 40 hours of edited video project in CC 2014, which of course cannot save project files to CS6, which is another brilliant move by somebody in Adobe that has the title position of "the dude for giving ideas to p*** people off". Now the problem is this, if I choose to export just a single clip from my composition of course I cannot export it to a container and codec of my choosing since it cannot be exported to Media Encoder, and has to be done in After Effects or I have to make a composition for each and every file, in order to export it to to the Media Encoder.
Now I ask you good people any way to move my projects back to CS6, remove this unusable piece of software and be over with it, I simply don't have the time to be toying around with Adobe's new found glory for Apple and exporting stuff to QuickTime, taking 3 times longer than mpeg. Tried with OpenSeasame and by just exporting an XML file but none work so if there is any other way please let me know.
Good thing I only got 1 month and didn't pay for the whole year...

shortoDid you use any of the new features in either AE CC (the original one) or CC 2014? If yes, you're kinda stuck.
If no, you'd have to engage in a two-step process: backsave the AE CC 2014 project to AE CC, then open the project in AE CC and backsave to CS6. -

If I bring the AE Comp into Premiere and export from there either by sending it to Media Encoder or exporting it directly from Premiere then it exports fine and gives me audio and video.

Hey there,
lately I'm using After effects CC 2014. Now I had to make the experience, after optimizing (collapse transformation) the pre comp, the global property transparency is no longer working.
I can make keyframes but the pre comp acts like my easy ease keyframes are hold keyframes. Btw if the collapse transformation button is unchecked it works fine but than i don't have the optimization features. It's a catch 22. Sure, I can go into my pre comp and set the keyframes there, but this is pretty annoying and seriously not the way to work.
So is that a bug in CC 2014?
Help is needed.

GwenLayer styles render in a different order so lots of things can get fouled up with you use them. They are still usable in complex situations, you just have to apply them in the right place in your composite. I've never found a situation where I needed a Layer Style and another effect that I have not been able to work around the limitation.
There are other things that change the render order. After Effects only does one thing at a time. The basic render order is listed right in the timeline view. Here's a sample.
Basic effect with Layer Style turned off:
First Mask 1 is applied to the layer, then Mask 2 is subtracted creating the hole
Then Fast Blur is applied, then Bevil Edges to create the button with the soft edges
Then the Transform controls take over and the anchor point is evaluated, the position reported, then the scale, then the rotation, and finally the opacity
Then the Layer Style is applied.
In my button design I want to apply a stroke to the button so that I looks like this but with the soft base and a stroke on the inside hole:
But, as you can see I had to turn off the Fast Blur to get the stroke to work because the Layer Style Stroke is calculated from the alpha channel, which fast blur has made 76 pixels wide so with Fast Blur on I get this:
The solution to my problem is to pre-compose and add the layer style to the pre-comp, then use an adjustment layer with masks for the fast blur to get what I wanted in the first place:
So here's what AE is doing with the final project.
The background layer is rendered
The pre comp is added to the mix
Inside the pre-comp the layer is rendered
Mask 1 is added to give rounded corners
Mask 2 is subtracted to punch the hole
Layer styles are applied to add the stroke
Back in the main comp the pre-comp is rendered
Bevel Edges is applied to the pre-comp using the alpha chanel
Now the adjustment layer is added to the mix
Mask 1 is added and this limits the area in the underlying layers where effects applied to the adjustment layer will work
Mask 2 is subtracted from the adjustment layer poking a hole in the effects
The fast Blur is added blurring only the bottom edge of the button
