After effects cc keeps disappearing once opened.

Just installed After effects cc on PC, no issues during installation but the program now opens for 2 seconds before disappearing.
No error message is shown, it just closes itself down. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions?
I have tried signing out of cc and signing back in but no joy.

Issue is occurring with After Effects cc (recent updates installed) & After Effects CS6 (recent updates installed)
Hardware is ASUS pc laptop with 4gb Ram and a single disk drive

No other software running at time of application launch apart from Chrome browser.
Display adapter is Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.

I also installed Illustrator, Lightroom and Photoshop and those seem to be working.
I tried changing permissions on all enclosed After Effects files and folders to read & write. No go...

After Effects and Macbook Pro = no Open GL support?

I have a newer (last gen) 2.4, 256 MBP and when I go into preferences (After Effects) it says NO OPEN GL card found, please update Apple Pro software (not sure which download that is, and I think I did that) as well as Adobe 8.0.1 and wondering if that fixes the issues. Otherwise the playback is very choppy.
I ask as there is nothing called Apple Pro Software, these are my options for software update (re: pro support)....ps, am a bit skeptical about these updates as one person said he did this and it hosed his system, how awful this would be, ugg....

Additionally, i'm not able to do an update on Adobe for some reason. I'm getting the following error message; server is not responding; it might be offline temporarily, or the Internet or firewall settings may be incorrect. I highly doubt it's my firewall settings.

Install the most recent CS6 update.
Don't install the update manually unless you encounter a problem with the automatic way. To use the automatic way, open any Adobe application (like Bridge) and choose Help > Updates.

After Effects download keeps restarting

Premiere, Audition, Photoshop and Lightroom have downloaded fine, however After Effects just keeps restarting the download - 3.5Gb of bandwidth so far and it has just restarted again - back at 1% ! Highest it's got to is 60 %. This is very frustrating.

AE is about 1.1 GB, but your IE temp space has nothing to do with it. ADM/ AAM use your system's global temp... anyway, if it doesn't work, you can try the direct download:

How do I make After Effects files in Windows 7 open in AE CS5 instead of the default CS5.5?

I have AE 5.5 and 5 installed on a Windows 7 machine and I'd like .AEP files open in CS5 by default.
I've tried using windows explorer to specify using the CS5 program but it defaults back to CS5.5
I've tried using Bridge CS5 and CS5.5 Edit/Preferences/File Type Associations but After Effects isn't even listed for some reason.
The only way I can open files in CS5 is by opening CS5 and opening the files from there. Trouble is I have more CS5 files than CS5.5 and I collaborate with several other artists only running CS5 so converting them to CS5.5 isn't an option right now.
Any ideas?

Nah, won't work. You would have to completeley erase the "After Effects Project" file type from your file associtaions and then literally rebuild it from scratch. Yes, that means heavy surgery by digging into the Registry and its HKEY_CASSES_ROOT branch as just removing it from the Explorer file associations still leaves the file type class in place. Long answer short: Just leave things as they are and keep your work organized. I never use double-clicking and I'm juggling versions from CS4 to CS6 every day, so it's possible.

After I import a .swf's into After effects the content disappears!

I have been using this work flow for sometime. I hand animate a sequence or a still of a character in Flash Pro on a single timeline, no scipts, etc just clean keayframe animation or a single frame.
Then export the sequence as a .swf.
Then usually import it into After Effects and use the vector output in my AE scene.
After completeing an animatic for a client last week all the swf's in my AE project are EMPTY. I tried re-exporting from flash and reimporting into AE and again they show up 1st time but if I close and reopen the project they are GONE again!!! Help I have been doing this same process since CS4 and I have master animations in AE files that I'm now scared to death to open because AE will make my work vanish...

I'm having the same issue since updating to cs6. Have always used this workflow seamlessly until now. Some info:
CS6 Production Premium
All lastest updates installed - yes
Windows 7 home Premium
Processor: Intle core 2Duo CPU E*400
6BG RAM, 2 drives (AE running off ssd)
No external HD attached
Sometimes, but usually not running Flash and AE at the same time
No error messages
.swf's play fine in their own right outside of AE
No special filters, effects of third part plug ins operating
On save, some (not all) swf's lose some content. Its always the same content. Every time AE is closed and reopened the the same stuff is missing. Only fix so far (which becomes extremely annoying) is to rename the .fla and export a new .swf. It lasts until the next close/open.
As far as I can tell, it targets non-symbol assets moreso that symbol assets, but converting the problematic parts to symbols in Flash does not rectify the problem once it has presented itself.

Adobe After Effects CS6 keeps crashing before it even starts

So like a year ago I purchased adobe after effects. I used it almost every day till about 2 months ago till I started using another video editing program. So for 2 months I did not open AE. Today I felt like using it because I felt it would do a better job that sony vegas so I tried to open it. It brought up the purple icon and it gave me an error. ''After Effects error:Crash in progress. Last logged message was (number here changes every time i do it) <dynamiclink> <5> c:/program files/adobe/adobe after effects cs6/support files/32/dynamiclinkmanger.exe. after this messege it just automatically exits after saying it crashed. I really need it to work since my final for college depends on it. I tried to uninstall it several times with numerous programs but none work. Whats wrong? how do i fix it ? is their a file or something missing? i looked on updates on adobe bridge and it said i was up to date. In addition i manualy tried to download an update and when i tried to open the update file it would open up af and display the same messege. any suggestions welcomed. thanks

The short version is that you either have changed your graphics setup, messed up your CoDecs, done something weird to your media cache or have permissions/ security issues or whatever. Since you failed to provide any system information we can't be any more specific.

After Effects CC 2014 can't open my project anymore

Hello,
I was working on a project last night, saved my work, and this morning cannot open my project files. Here are reproduction steps:
1. Launch AE CC 2014
2. File > Open Project >
3. Select AEP
4. Nothing happens
There is no error message, no dialogue boxes, no warnings. Nothing happens. I have tried resetting my AE CC 2014 preferences, restarting my box, and tried importing the project file into a fresh AE project with no change in results (a folder does show up, but contains no data). Auto-saved AEP's also contain no data.
Here are my machine specs:
Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
Processor 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 80 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
After Effects CC 2014 2014.1.1 Release - v13.1.1.3

Can you create a new project?

After Effects CS5.5 will not open a Dynamically Linked Premiere Pro sequence in the comp. window

Hi all,
I'm trying to export a Premiere Pro sequence which is in 2K and the footage has been shot as RED 5K. Adobe Media Encoder will simply not work as I am having the quite widely discussed issue where it will just 'hang' at certain points and not complete the export.
The most popular solution to this problem is to export via the Render Queue in After Effects instead. However, therein lies the problem.
I go onto After Effects. Choose File -> Dynamic Link -> Import Premiere Pro Sequence.
The box pops up, I choose the Premiere Pro Project File then select the sequence I want to export. It then appears in the After Effects project panel window like so:
However - when I try and drag this to a new composition window, one of two things have happened. Either A) nothing happens (literally, NOTHING changes) or B) as the following example shows, it seems to add it to a new composition, but the video is entirely black. I have tried rendering it and it just produces a black video.
The other thing people seem to suggest is to just import the entire Premiere Pro sequence into After Effects. I've tried this, but any titles I have added in PP force the video to fade out then back in, in the place where the title should be?? So I can't export the video this way either.

This is months old but I'm now having the same problem with AE and Premiere CS6 after updating last night: Dynamic linked sequence shows up in the project window in AE and even plays video if previewed, but will not drag or alt-drag into any comps, including a new comp (makes a new comp with matching settings, but empty).
Furthermore, I do actually have an earlier version of the same sequence placed in one of my AE comps, which I think was done using the same steps just prior to updating the apps last night. Did this break?
I'm a little concerned since the biggest reason I'm trying to use premiere is to eliminate the exports when adding graphics in AE.

After Effects 7 keeps prompting me for serial # and won't let me in.

I can't get After Effects 7 to work in my CS2 bundle. It prompts me for a serial #. I enter it and it says it is not the correct serial number. So I
uninstalled the entire bundle. Problem is, After Effects 7 won't uninstall either. Any ideas? I've got the rest of my bundle uninstalled, while I try to figure out how to uninstall After Effects 7. I can't get to it through ad/remove programs.

Was the application previously installed on your computer? It was installed on an older computer the G4, which still works but it is slow. Now I am running it from an exterior drive connected to my iMac. Have been for weeks, or months. It was registered in 2007 I think. It shows up on your system as registered.
So, How do I get a new code so I can use 7.0 on my fastere new computer?
