After Effects CC wdm diver hungs
Hello, recently i downloaded the trial version of After Effecs CC 2014,at first i had problem with the audio rendering, and i asked for help for a couple of friends and this result on me uninstalling and instaling AE for...5 times, maybe less but not more than 5 times. Then when i finnaly found a solution for my audio problem, when i launch AE,it crash and this message show up:
I'm using a HP Ultrabook,windowns 8.1,Core I3.
I checked and it seems my audio drivers are update and running normally, how i said it was working without crash a few days ago. Please someone here knows what's happening?I got things to finish and need AE soon as possible.Btw,sorry for my english
I was lauching AE without open a project.
Is already fixed,it suddenly back to normal.Ayways, thanks for replying

(I'm using the current AE CC 2014)... I've tried twice to start working on a project in After Effects while a DIFFERENT project is rendering in Media Encoder. Both times it (Media Encoder) hung up/crashed. I thought the point of a separate encoder program was so I COULD work on another project in AE at the same time another project was rendering in Media Encoder.
Am I doing something wrong, or do I just have to WAIT for the encoding in Media Encoder to finish before I can do other things in AE?
[I tried searching through help. If I it's there... I just missed it.]
Thanks (in advance) for the help.AaronJamesLee wrote:

You should wait.
What are the specs of your computer? -
I've just installed After Effects CS6 from the cloud. I run Photoshop, & Illustrator CS5.5 with no problems.
Here are the full errors it gives me on startup. I have never been able to successfully get After Effects to load.
"After Effects error: After Effects crashed previously attempting to initialize OpenGL. Consult the manufacturer of your graphics card for a compatiable OpenGL driver."
"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <6632> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 1"
I have an ATI Radeon 7850 card. Tried uninstalling the drivers completely and re-installing latest Catalyst drivers. Then tried uninstalling completely again and installing the beta 13.3 drivers. Still same crash error.
Running Windows 7 64 bit.
Here's my DXDiag system info:

Also, Noel Carboni over at the PS forum might have to say a word or two on the drivers... He recommends to not use 13.3 at all and his list of "safe" versions only includes 12.8... You also have an awful lot of CoDecs in your list, so you might consider uninstalling some of them/ the apps that introduced them. This may also help....

Laptop for editing with Adobe Premiere & After Effects CS6
Hi, I'm just started a company working with young people, and I need a laptop for editing some videos (short films/music videos).
I was looking at a cheap laptop to be able to run Adobe Premiere and After Effects smoothly. I was told that this laptop would run smoothly:
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-envy-m6-1178sa-15-6-laptop-17419990-pdt.html
Can anyone confirm this? The graphics card is not listed on the Adobe's website but I was told it's compatible?
Im new to this stuff so please help, thank you.How realistic are the system requirements Adobe posts on their site?
System requirements
Windows
Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor with 64-bit support; Intel Core®2 Duo or AMD Phenom® II processor required for Adobe® Premiere® Pro, After Effects®, and Encore®; Intel Core i7 processor required for Adobe SpeedGrade™
Microsoft® Windows® 7 with Service Pack 1 (64 bit) and Windows® 8. Refer to the CS6 FAQ for more information about Windows 8 support.*
2GB of RAM (4GB recommended) for 32 bit; 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended) for 64 bit
14.5GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space required for disk cache, preview files, and other working files (10GB recommended)
1280x900 display with 16-bit color and 512MB of VRAM; 1680x1050 display required, and second professionally calibrated viewing display recommended for SpeedGrade
OpenGL 2.0–capable system
Sound card compatible with ASIO protocol or Microsoft WDM/MME
DVD-ROM drive compatible with dual-layer DVDs (DVD+-R burner for burning DVDs; Blu-ray burner for creating Blu-ray Disc media)
Java™ Runtime Environment 1.6 (included)
Eclipse™ 3.7 (for plug-in installation of Adobe Flash® Builder®); the following distributions are supported: Eclipse IDE for Java EE and Java Developers, Eclipse Classic, Eclipse for PHP Developers
QuickTime 7.6.6 software required for QuickTime features, multimedia, and HTML5 media playback
Dedicated GPU card required for SpeedGrade (for optimal performance in SpeedGrade and for GPU-accelerated features in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects: NVIDIA Quadro 4000, 5000, or 6000 or other Adobe-certified GPU card with at least 1GB of VRAM recommended); visit www.adobe.com/products/premiere/extend.html for supported cards
Optional: Tangent CP200 family or Tangent Wave control surface for SpeedGrade
Optional: For SDI output, NVIDIA Quadro SDI Output card required for SpeedGrade
Optional: 7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured, recommended) for video products
This software will not operate without activation. Broadband Internet connection and registration are required for software activation, validation of subscriptions, and access to online services.† Phone activation is not available.
You have to be from another world to believe these requirements. Note the last optional statement. Up to and including CS4 this stated:
Dedicated 7200 RPM hard drive (multiple fast disk drives, preferably RAID 0 configured) for video products.
Nobody in his right mind believes that system requirements get lower over time. It is purely a marketing lie to artificially lure prospective buyers.
The requirement to have two physical disks for CS6 is bogus.
If anything is bogus, it is the system requirements from Adobe and only fools would try to use a system with these minimum requirements, like this:
Pentium 4 with 4 GB of RAM, 24.5 GB of hard disk space is enough according to them.
Harm is confusing editing with getting high PPBM scores, I am afraid - again. Not all projects have 10 layers of H.264 stacked with heavy effects for two hours straight. The vast majority of editing is simple transitions and effects with 10 minutes of YouTube encoding twice a week.
Wrong assumption. I was thinking of a simple DV timeline with one single track. And however much you dislike the PPBM benchmark, it is the only available tool to show how well a system is setup and in balance. Question: Is your dislike of the benchmark based on the fact that your favorite HP Z820 does not do well? -
CS5.5 Premiere Pro & After Effects launch in one user profile but not the other
I’m having two issues. One with AE getting hung up on loading the MediaCore and the other with Premiere Loading the ExpoerterQuickTime.bundle I’ve looked and looked for solutions and haven’t found any with my problem.
I’m running a Mid-2010 MBP 8GB RAM with Lion and CS5.5 I’ve done a uninstall and reinstalled and still same problem. It works on other user profiles on my computer but not mine and that’s the one with all the content! Any help?
I launched AE with Alt+Command+Shift down which reset my preferences and whatnot but then it gave me a warning about the MediaCore and let me continue but now it's hung up on the the user interface. I don't know what to do. Any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated!!!
UPDATE
Loggin in as the Super Admin User worked for Premiere for whatever reason which is awesome! Thanks!
However After Effects is still looking for that MediaCore. And now Media Encoder isn't working. (Not that I really use it but if it doesn't work the issue might be somewhere else. Again. I tried all of these in the Super User account and the other normal account and they worked fine. Just not here in mine. Any ideas for that?
I don't have any firewalls up, It's all wide open. And I tried the second option there of removing all of the quicktime plugins in the Quicktime folder but it still gets hung up on the MediaCore.
I went into the super user and edited a AE project then came out and open the project instead of the dock icon and it went on and gave me the quicktime isn't installed bit and something might not work properly. But from playing around in it I've not seen anything different. This is an extrememly frustrating situation. I can get both programs open now but it's all janky and isn't working properly. I consider Premier to be a done deal, it's got no issues. I just need to figure out this mediacore business.
Original Post from the Premier Forum, thought I'd get better luck here in the AE one. Thank you for any help!
http://forums.adobe.com/message/3901233#3901233Yea, it's the main account i use. So I got all the permissions set up correctly. The rest of the CS suite open just fine it's just those two that give me hickups.

Dual-core or Quad-core for Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop CS4?
We are planning to purchase around 25 computers for a computer lab for working with CS4 Production Premium at the high school level. Mainly Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. Our budget is, unfortunately, a mere $550-$625 per machine (just the tower though, we have monitors). I've already established that a 64-bit operating system makes a significant difference in the performance, even though Photoshop is the only 64-bit application, and I'm now hung up on whether or not it's worth the cost of a quad-core processor over a dual-core.
I'm discovering the different hardware needs for each application, so I'm trying to find an economic balance that will give me the best performance per buck. It seems that Premiere benefits significantly from more cores (we're editing 1440x1080 AVCHD), and this article over at Tom's Hardware has convinced me that I don't want to compromise with a hyperthreaded dual-core for After Effects.
I'm also struggling with what part the graphics card plays in the mix. Which applications lean on the graphics card, and will it make much difference as long as I meet the requirements (OpenGL 2.0, Shader Model 3.0, Direct3D 10, and 256 Mb Ram)?
I understand I will need to settle for less-than-awesome with my budget, but I'm already making sacrifices to get the number to $625. I would like to make sure that those sacrifices will be worth it for a quad-core system.I think I may have answered my own question by looking at these charts over at Tom's Hardware:
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-desktop-cpu-charts-update-1/Adobe-Premiere-Pro-CS4 ,1404.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2009-desktop-cpu-charts-update-1/Adobe-Photoshop-CS-4,1 387.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-2010/Video-Editing-Adobe-After-Effec ts-CS5,2427.html
I think that the jump to the quad core in Premiere Pro is worth it, even if I don't see as large of an improvement in Photoshop or After Effects. I am still interested in the role of the graphics card in the mix if anyone can shed some light on that. Will an integrated graphics card (like an Intel GMA x4500 or Radeon HD4200) suffice or will I need an actual graphics card to realize the benefits?

Bringing in after effects animation .mov file
Hi...
I am really confused about this one..
I rendered an After Effects file, set to using the animation compression settings, quicktime, 29.97 frame rate...
I bring it into FCP, and it gives me a red needs render bar.. I have my sequence settings to animation.. frame rate matches..
Why is this happening?
-patrickI rendered an After Effects file, set to using the animation compression settings, quicktime, 29.97 frame rate... I bring it into FCP, and it gives me a red needs render bar.. I have my sequence settings to animation.. frame rate matches..< </div>
I never tried to set sequence to Animation, interesting idea.
But Animation is not a realtime codec, far to incredibly dense. It's meant to be a lossless transport system for effects shots and a universal interchange between platforms and NLEs. A few hardware-supported NLEs, like the older Media 100s, can process certain types of Animation-like files, proprietary codecs that can carry alpha.

NO SOUND or Effects in After Effects CS5
I just spent 6 hours trying to get sound to play in AE in Windows 7 with no luck. I tried every common sense thing I could come up with including pressing space bar, and pressing things in the preview pane. Then I read all FAQ's and found out not to use space bar, but to try to scrub audio etc. Then I tried to "change output module settings" but nothing matched with the faq. If it said to do something, it usually didn't exist unless you somehow got to the part they discussed. But eventually I found the checkbox and it didn't help. I tried changing things in the final box when you go to render, to render audio, but that didn't work. I know my computer has all the right hardware/drivers because I have many other sound and video editing programs which work with no problems. I also have ASIO as an option to try. I went into edit-preferences->audio hardware, and the audo output mapping with no luck. I re-installed windows 7 with a clean install after formatting, and set up with the most basic settings and that didn't work either.
Also no matter what I do, I can not get sound to export with the video as AE strips the audio out. In fact I can't get any video effects to export. I tried everything above and nothing helped. I could even at points see the audio waveform in the editor. Plus I know the video has audio. But to make sure I tried 4 or 5 more videos and sometimes in different formats and that didn't work. After spending this much time, I find this pretty counter intuitive given that every other editor like Sony Vegas etc, simply assumes a default that you want to be able to hear the audio track when playing, and assumes if you put effects on, they should render to the output file. Then they give you ways to turn this off. At any rate, I feel pretty stuck at this point. If anyone knows how to get sound within the program, or verify it's working I'd appreciate it. Also a way to export the effects to the output render file would also be useful. Thanks."A useless fluff question"? lol. I would have been happy to provide more info, but it's not a fluff question and no need to be insulting. Especially when it sounds like you don't understand how AE works your self. Sorry to be blunt about that, but most of what you needed to know was in that question. So you're telling me that your only "useful" information is knowing about my motherboard or audio chipset? Had I posted just that you would have likely told me it wasn't useful and ask me to describe the problem in more detail. I was already trying not to make the post too long because people tend to skip things. I asked for a simple way to verify my sound was working because I was unfamiliar with AE, and for all I knew I wasn't using the program correctly. That's a logical approach and should have been the first step. Anyone who knew anything about AE could have told me to look at the speaker icon, or confirm the preview pane could play sound after rendered. Or given me a simple 1,2,3 quick list to check the sound. Then we could have proceeded from there.
Did you provide any of that to save time? No. It seems you skipped it. Then you ask me what 3rd party codecs I have installed. What part about me reformatting my ssd and clean installing windows 7 didn't you get? You say there wasn't useful information, but did you even read that? With a clean install, obviously all codecs are provided by Microsoft up until the point that After Effects was installed and it added a few of its own. The only exception was the addition of quicktime after the program was 1st tried without it. Again, 100% clean, fresh system with 100% working hardware. But here: I have an x58 board with core i7 at 4ghz, 12GB ram, using windows 7 built in drivers for high definition audio device, standard version 6.1.7600.16385 working w/ onboard chipset. I was also avoiding installing my creative labs x-fi to keep it as simple as possible. But regardless, AE doesn't communicate with hardware, but the API, as well. Which is why the sound options for WDM and/or ASIO were provided in the settings of AE as mentioned. That should have been the biggest clue that I was just misunderstanding some step in AE's operation.
That said, I found other ways to verify sound was working. One was to hold the appropriate key while scrubbing and audio and video play simultaneously. One easy click did it. Only thing is I have to manually move the cursor to hear it. Another was to look at the speaker cone icon on the track. Finally I found that changing the work area size and doing ram-preview let me hear sound anywhere in the video in sections. That made a lot more sense than it jumping to the beginning of the video and trying to render the entire clip. I also found out about adding to the render que which solved the problem of no sound in my outputed video. So maybe I can get points on this board for solving my own question? LOL.
And as I found out, the where-is-the-sound question is the most common in After Effects. Yet the FAQ's do an absolutely horrible job at making that clear. Sure it may be buried in some abstract way, but if it were my company I'd have an awesome step by step section on explaining the deal with sound and what to expect. Or better I'd allow real time sound playback whenever it could render at 100% or faster as in other programs. Or maybe even 80%. It's kind of distrubing a $1000 program has such inefficient online resources for the most basic things. I can see reading a manual to learn the cool more intricate things, but playing back sound should work out of the box with NO questions asked. If that's not possible, it should come with a great explanation, or read me or something that grabs a persons attention quickly as soon as they install it. That said, it took me longer, but I figured everything out on my own. -
After Effects CS6 - Initializing Mediacore Issue - More Complex.
Hi, I recently got After Effects CS6, and I have had the program open a few times - when I say a few, I mean 4 or 5, all in the same day, and I was only opening and closing the program to check to see if I'd installed plugins correctly. So, anyway back to the point; I sat and created a 10 second clip for which I was going to use for a YouTube intro. I finished and exported the clip, only to find that after I had saved and closed the program, the clip I had exported was some form of .AVI that had encoded incorrectly (or something similar, this part isn't particularly relevant.) Then when I tried to re-open AE, the program hung at the 'Initializing Mediacore...' section of the loading screen, and it has done for a while now. I have tried restarting, re-installing, removing the 3rd-party plugins, and re-intalling QuickTime. I've been reading all the forums and looked up the issue on YouTube, and all the answers are wrong or lacking information about my issue. Every working answer I find is either about about a Mac issue, or any Windows issue keeps mentioning these 3 programs; Adobe QT32 Server.exe, dynamiclinkmanager.exe, and PProHeadless.exe, none of which I have.
I run a 64-bit, Windows 7, Acer Aspire with 4 GB of RAM. Any helpful - emphasis on the helpful there - information will be greatly accepted.
Cheers. The executables are in the program directories. Still, none of that is probably relevant. Something is damaging your media cache and/or blocking those services from even launching, which takes us back to basic trobleshooting steps which are:
Run as admin
Turn off security tools
Verify file and folder permissions on the temp and user directories
Cehck drive integrity and health

Editing Speech Metadata (Timecodes) in Premiere Pro / After Effects?
I want to edit the timecodes of metadata words in Premiere and find it not possible.
In After Effects, after importing the video file, it now allows me to edit the timecodes, yet
incredibly enough, After Effects cannot let me play the video with both image and audio. People say do RAW preview but I cannot hear the sounds of the video.
It seems I can either hear only audio or watch the video without audio to edit the timecodes of metadata words.
Well, how can I... how can I do properly edit the timecodes of metadata?I stand corrected. I though it was completely gone. I actually only tried to use it once and the accuracy was so bad that I never tried again.
Out of curiosity I read through the tutorial and found that everything worked for me just fine. I even thought of a great tutorial that could be made for dynamic text animations or captioning.
I'm not perfectly clear about where you're getting hung up. If it's in the section:
Use After Effects scripting to convert speech metadata to Flash cue points
then I have a suggestion for you. Instead of copying and pasting the script to a text editor use the script editor. Just open File>Scripts>Open Script Editor. Then copy only the actual script part between the first { and last } to the script editor. The first line in the script code (#target aftereffects-9.0) is stopping the script from running in CS5.5.
Then, back in AE select your movie layer with the labeled markers, go back to the script editor and run the script. Now check the marker data and the words have been copied from the comment field to the flash cue point field.
The rest of the tutorial should work as expected.
Thanks again for pointing me to the speech analysis tool. It's going to actually save a bunch of time in an upcoming project. -
Best graphics card for After Effects CC?
Been pondering which CUDA card to get for my "Mid 2012" Mac Pro as I was sadled with a useless AMD Radeon HD 5870 by the systems builder, so even though I have 12 cores I get very little acceleration from Premiere Pro & After Effects CC when editing Canon 5D shot 1080p video.
So bottom line for a minimum spend that will also have a MiniDisplay port for my Apple Ciname screen, which of the listed Nvidia CUDA cards would you buy from the official list below?
GeForce GTX 285
GeForce GTX 675MX
GeForce GTX 680
GeForce GTX 680MX
GeForce GT 650M
Quadro CX
Quadro FX 4800
Quadro 4000
Quadro K5000UPDATE: I bought the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB in the end for my Mind 2012 Mac Pro (running Maverick 10.9.3) and it worked perfectly (well the Mac hung on first boot and I discovered I had to switch off my 27" Apple Cinema Display at the wall socket to reset it and then rebooted and worked perfectly)
It has sped up playback and rendering of 1080p HD video in Premiere and After Effects, almost realtime encoding when exporting in Media Encoder (unless I use Speedgrade which slows down rendering by 4 times!)
I even managed to sell my old ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card on Amazon, so was a cheap upgrade in the end and well worth it. -
Computer CONSTANTLY restarts while editing with premiere and after effects
Whenever i edit in premiere or after effects, my computer will always just randomly restart. It normally does it more in after effects than premiere, but lately, it has been doing it a lot in premiere, sometimes as much as every 15 minutes. Here are my specs:
Windows 7 64 Bit
i7 Processor
12GB Ram
4tb Raid system
NVIDA GEFORCE video card
800 watt power supply
3ghz speed
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have been told that it could be the video card before, but I highly doubt that my video card is not sufficient enough for basic video editing on premiere, as I know many people who have worse video cards that edit with no problem. Please help! Here is all the information about my computer:

After Effects Freezes on Rendering, NEED HELP
Hey everyone. So I'm on the verge of tears because After Effects CS5 is having a huge lag in rendering. I recently installed the whole CS5 Master Collection, and I found there was a slight lag in opening it, updating the preferences, and even closing out of the program. But didn't think anything of it. Often times I've gotten hung up on the beach ball of death.
I went for the first time to render things, which an identical comp in AE CS4 rendered out lightening fast, but in CS5 the same comp took about 5 minutes of sitting on the beach ball before it even started rendering and then another 5 minutes of more beach ball fun to finally finish. I'm on a Mac and my system stats are as follows:
Processor: 2x3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Memory: 18 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
OSX 10.5.8
After Effects CS5 10.0.1.19
I thought it was some type of DivX issue, and deleted anything relating to that, but it didn't help. Whatever help anybody could provide as to the culprit would be appreciative. It's got me pretty freaked out...So it seems like a combination of turning off OpenGL and Multiprocessing seemed to do the trick. Have one or the other on seemed to cause the freeze-ups.
I'd like to ask if this is a problem just isolated to OS X 10.5.8 or not?I've always had Multiprocessing on since CS4, why turn it off now, did having it on to begin with help at all for renders? Now that it's off and OpenGL, will that adversely affect anything i.e. increasing render times etc?
Why have two options available if it's going to lead to problems, and people have to end up turning them off?
For what it's worth, I've included screenshots of my own computer's info and the selections when multi-processing are on in AE CS5. -
After Effects CS5 crashing during RAM Preview
After Effects CS5 was working just fine less than 24 hrs ago.
Now I cant even get it to RAM preview some text moving across the screen as a test.
It keeps getting hung up on "Background Process Status Loading Projects..."
Never an issue before. Didnt update or change ANYTHING.
Of course this happens right in the middle of a job...nice....
Utterly frustrated.
Mac OS 10.7.5
2 X 3 Dual Core Intel Xeon (one of the earlier Mac Pro Intel towers)
19GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MBFunny you said that.
That is what i thought the problem might be. I am going to archive some stuff on my hard drive.
That is when the app started having issues. When the project started getting larger and having more elements.
In fact, now i am getting a weird wobble when I render a sequence from premiere. If I only render part of it, it doesnt happen.
Maybe I need to free up some space on my hard drive...? -
Okay, I've just about had it with CS!@#$4....I am getting the above message every time I try to import an after effects compostions. Yes, I did upgrade to windows 7 not to long ago but I have already built a composition and even imported into into Premiere Pro CS4 with no problems. Now I get into the same project and try to link the AE comp. and it throws this message in my face. Just for one minute I wish I could change this program into a human being so I could throw it around the room for a while!! Ahhhhhhh!!! What's happening???!! Help Please!!???
Reloaded the entire suite and the problem is gone. When in doubt reload, it is sad that I've had to do this the number of times I have. Final Cut you are looking pretty sweet to me right now. Adobe get to work son! And get a call center back in the US! The only thing I get from your current call center is either one--someone telling me to read a document that has been sent to me 10 times or two-- hung up on....ahhhhhhhh!! Get it together!!
Sorry....side note---thanks everyone for your help
--if it wasn't for all you in these forums...I would be in a heap of trouble
Thanks Again!
Bobby
