After Effects crashing on Startup

Hi everyone,
I'm pretty sure I've done my homework on this and read all sorts of similar posts on this issue. But nothing I've read thus far has helped as yet.
In starting up After Effects CS6 (I have the trial - slowly running out I might add) after ages initialising the media core, eventually I get a message saying that Quicktime is not installed. Even though it very definitely is. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Still the same issue. I've read up on this and have not seen an answer that has helped yet.
Once I get past that error, it continues to load and then comes up with:
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <3108> <DynamicLink> <5> C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclinkmanager.exe
In looking into this, the two solutions I've seen (at least that I can make sense of) is
1) to delete the folder in C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects (11.0) and reload
2) to check that my firewall (in my case Kaspersky PURE) accepts incoming/outgoing TCP connections to
AfterFX.exe
Adobe QT32 Server.exe
dynamiclinkmanager.exe
PProHeadless.exe
Neither of these has worked. Still crashes same as before. In fact I have disabled and exited Kaspersky and tried it with no firewall, and the issue still exists.
Any help or links with the problem solved would be appreciated.
Many thanks!

    Also, Noel Carboni over at the PS forum might have to say a word or two on the drivers... He recommends to not use 13.3 at all and his list of "safe" versions only includes 12.8... You also have an awful lot of CoDecs in your list, so you might consider uninstalling some of them/ the apps that introduced them. This may also help....

  • After Effects crash on startup

    Well, on my Windows 7, 64-bit computer After Effects CS5 crashes on startup. There's no error message, but in Windows 7 event viewer I get this:
    Faulting application name: AfterFX.exe, version: 10.0.1.19, time stamp: 0x4c785da6

    I'm afraid if you yourself don't know what's going on on your system, then we are not really able to help. NTDLL crashes 90% of the time are issues at the system level, which could be anything from permission issues with files to flakey graphics drivers, so look into that, especially since you installed your software on a different drive and not C:, which is not the safest thing to do with Adobe programs, unfortunately. Turn off security tools and virus scanenrs, update your graphics and otehr drivers, check fiel permissions aand user privileges. Also trash the AE prefs and monitor the spalsh screen when AE attempts to launch. That info alone could tell you everything you need to know to fix the problem...

  • After Effects crashes on startup - Various Errors - Windows 7 64bit

    AE CC 2014 13.1.1
    Windows 7 64bit
    12 GB Ram
    Intel Xeon CPR W3680 @ 3.33 GHz 3.33 GHz
    Hyper-threaded 12 cores
    NVIDIA Quadro 2000
    After effects on startup crashes constantly on me. I get various errors, the newest is error code 1268; D_MCp_SetupExporterModule
    Sometimes it is a dynamic link error, and sometimes there is errors.
    If I actually get it to open and work, I'm usually OK until I close the program. At that point there is almost no way I'm getting back in without a reboot.
    I've worked on this same machine for three years and had pretty good luck with every version of AE since 5.5.

    If you're not on Service Pack 1 for Windows 7, you need to get it. SP1 is a minimum system requirement to run 13.1

  • After Effects crashing at startup after updating to 10.10.2

    Hi, I'm a new "pc convert" ---and just loaded the adobe creative cloud suite. After Effects worked fine this morning before the 10.10.2 upgrade, however once the update happened, i get this crash.
    Since I'm a newbie to Apple iMac user, is it a user error or an issue between adobe and Apple OS?
    thanks,

  • After Effects Crashing at startup due to GPU sniffer

    Hey Everyone,
    Just downloaded the trail version for After Effects CC 2014 and it's having problems.
    Every time it starts up it fails at the splash page with the following error: <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 3
    I've checked everywhere and everyone says this is a mac problem with Cuda Drivers to blame. I have no Cuda drivers, I'm on windows 7, I have a 630 GT card installed (I know it's the office computer).
    Anybody have any insight?
    Thanks

  • After Effects Crashes On Startup (Initializing User Interface)

    OK, this is really frustrating me now.
    I've tried CS3, CS4 both on a Late 07, maybe early 08 White Macbook running Leopard 10.5.8, 4GB Ram, 2.1GHz CPU.
    I installed CS4 without a hitch, but when I go to open it sticks on "Initializing User Interface" at the splash screen and then crashes and quits. This happens with CS3 as well, and I am unable to open anything.
    I've tried to delete user preferences, create a new user and try there, repair disk permissions, connect an external monitor and try again, nothing works!
    Any suggestions to get this to work?

    I just did this search for the error message, and I found some possible solutions, including in the comments on this page.

    hello, thanx for reading this question. id like to come to the point, i have just installed adobe after effects cs3 pro v8.0.0 on my pc and its working fine, until yesterday when i tried to import a video file which is in .avi format. i can tell you surely that i did nothing of consequence to the working of the program before i tried importing it! but when i double clicked the file i wanted to import, adobe after effects crashes and gives me one more chance at saving the project i was working on before freezing. i had to click close and end now to shut the program down. everything else works fine on the program except when i try to import a video file! ive heard people saying that you need to delete or reset your preferences and that would solve your problem but if that is the solution, how do i do it, and if it isn't the solution what do i do? thanx a lot for reading this question and hope u reply to it with a solution! thanks, ciao!

    First, make sure you run the Adobe Updater to install any software updates. Then, try transcoding your .avi into a different format/codec. The .avi could be using one of a variety of problematic codecs. To transcode it, use Quicktime Pro, or a variety of other transcoding options (google for various software that will do this for you).

  • After effects crashing unpredictable, please help if you can?

    Only be happening for a week or so. seems to be related to blurs in adjustment layers. ill be using blurs to spot blur certain anatomy for a tv show. sometimes I track and blur  with mocha sometimes manual track. ill be adjusting a track or a mask and ill get one of several unusual  chrashes/errors. usually, its this: <6896> <BEEp_InitSoundPB> <0> Vid rate ratios min, max: 1, 1. . If I reload the project and delete and rebuild the adjusment layer blurs (Box blur and mosaic) and it will render fine. but this happens enough to be a considerable time waster and is interferring with my work. I've looked up the errors online and tried any suggestions i could find (although it seems this error appears for many differ3ent reasons?). I've deleted media cache, changed cache drives, reinstalled video card drivers deleted preferences, turned off open GL, run diagnostics on my CPU. RAM and GPU, all turned up fine. The only thing I havent tried is uninstalling and reinstalling AFX which i want to leave for a last resort as I have no time! Also, I have CC and CC14 installed (just use cs6 more often because of plugins) and when I load the project into CC and scrub or render I get the same problem, again until I delete and rebuild Adjustment layer. I even collected and moved the project onto a mac laptop and it gets the same error!!

    I apologize if I'm not using the correct terminology, I did in fact teach myself after effects, if that's what you mean. I've been using it for about 14-15 years, but I have found like many of the programs I use, Ill never learn all there is to know, and I would definitely defer to your judgement Dave as I have a great deal of respect for your experience and AE knowledge, having read many of your helpful posts in the past. (thank you, you've helped me before, and did not know it)
    This is the first time I've encountered this particular error. Let me see if I can describe it better. The show I work for often requires me to blur out certain objects or anatomical parts for approval by standards and practices. Usually my workflow is to either manually, or with mocha AE track the offending area with a mask applied to an adjustment layer that has a box blur and a mosiac filter applied to it. The problem arose last week when I went back to a project created the week prior to add more blur to an existing comp. I started to adjust the blur and while scrubbing through timeline after effects crashed, giving me the following error <19665> AE.blitpipe <2> making new context. (or a variation of that, unfortunately, I didn't write down the initial error as  at first I thought it was just an annomoly). When I reloaded the project I kept getting the same crash/error until I removed the adjustment layer and re tracked and blurred. I tried the same comp on a mac laptop and it got the error as well.  I managed to get the render out in time and continued to work in after effects problem free until another blur project arose. this project had 10 shots. I followed my usual workflow and had finished all 10 comps and as going back through to tweak some masks when the error occurred on comp 4. same problem. also it seems as though whenever i reach the same frame range in the timeline is when it crashes, and its not always on the same frame, just in the same general area on the timeline. this happens sometimes during scrubbing, but always during render or RAM preview. I can open the original project where the error occurred and still get the same error in the same area along the timeline. Honestly, Im wondering if I have a corrupted DLL and just need to reinstall after Effects., but the question remains, if that IS the case, why would the same project give me the same errors in each version of after effects I own? (CS6, CC & CC2014) This is why I say corrupted project... not sure what else to call it?
    And Ive gotten a variety of error messages during crash, I've gotten the :<19665> AE.blitpipe <2> making new context as well as <6896> <BEEp_InitSoundPB> <0> Vid rate ratios min, max: 1, 1. and <271636><DynamicLink> <5>  c:/programfiles\adobe\adobe premiere...
    also different faulted modules when I click on details, sometimes ADM.dll sometimes wintab32.dll.. not consistent at all. This doesn't happen evertime I apply a blur layer, its just seemed to occur when time was most precious and I really needed to get renders out! haha, well thats what it feels like anyway. my wor around is now to immediately delete the problem adjustment layer, retrack and blur, but I'm hoping to find an answer for this irritating puzzle. I hate not understanding why this is happening.
    I appreciate the help on this. I will probably reinstall after effects or perhaps even windows once I find the time, but time is hard to come by.

  • After Effects Crashes when trying to replace footage

    I recently got a new PC and the new computer has drive letters assigned to removeable drives that used to point to where my files were stored.  When I try to replace the footage, After Effects crashes and does not give me any option to send a crash report.  I updated to 10.0.1.19 and updated my video card driver (which fixed a problem with OpenGL not registering), but it did not solve my issue.  I can include the crash details here:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: AfterFX.exe
    Application Version: 10.0.1.19

    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
    Intel Core i7 860
    ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB (latest driver installed)
    1 TB Hard Drive
    8GB DDR3 Memory
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks for the insight.  "Performance of the external drives" was pretty close, I think.
    I believe it was due to the fact that when I created the project, the files were located on an external drive "F".  My new system designated drive "F" as one of the built-in card reader slots.  AE did not want to replace the source from the card reader unless 1) there was a card in the slot and 2) the original file (or one with the same name at least) was on the card. I wasn't about to go through all that heartache and discontent (I was missing about 30 files, and the 1GB card was nowhere close to big enough to hold the 9GB of data), so I used the Disk Management utility to reassign the drive letters.  Luckily I have a couple of external drives - one to assign to the source "F" drive and another to be the new target "M".  There was some creative shuffling that had to happen to get the connections right, but it made AE happy.

  • After Effects Crashing Repeatedly.

    Hello Adobe help community. I have come to the Adobe help and support for Adobe AE. Here are the statistics on my computar:
    Mac OS X Version: 10.8.4
    Processor: 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Storage: 484.26 GB Free out of 749.3 GB
    I have various other Adobe Applacations that run perfectly fine but After Effects crashes whenever I open it and hit Composition.

    I am running the latest version of AE from CreativeCloud.
    Yes I have installed the recent updates.
    My operating system is Mac OS X.
    It wont even let me put in footage so no need to answer this.
    Im not getting any error messages.
    I am clicking the Composition button when the error occurs.
    This has never worked before for me.
    Yes I have quicktime installed and running Quicktime 7.6.4
    When I opened AE I was running skype, and screenflow. (Not Recording)
    No I dont have any third party codecs/effects installed.
    The only thing that I am using that I call "hardware" is my Apple Mouse which I believe dosent affect anything here.
    No Im not using OpenGL Features in AE because It wont let me click anything before it crashes.
    First I close out of some applications that Im running so I can have more ram avalable to run the applacation better. Then I double click on the Adobe After Effects Icon on my desktop. When it has opened, I click anything, it crashes.

  • Importing a Premiere Pro Sequence into After Effects Crashes After Effects

    Hello,
    I'm on a Quad Core Mac, 2.8GHZ with 6GB of Ram.
    I have a Premeire Pro project with varying MOV and MP4 files; from a DSLR and from a Sony EX-1 camera.  This project has lots of media, over 3 TBs, and each and every time I try to import it into After Effects-After Effects crashes and does not respond.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    Don't try and do a whole movie in AE. After Effects is for making shots or short sequences. Break up the projects. Organize. 3TB of source materials into AE's Project folder means linking, analyzing, interpreting, and generating previews for enough material to shoot a feature film. Bring in the shots you're working on, not the entire movie. If you need to do an entire movie, break that up to Scenes and make each scene a separate project.
    Terabytes of data would also choke Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Avid, or any other NLE if it was dumped in all at once. The only reason that a NLE can handle that much data is that there were some caches created when the footage was imported.

  • After Effects crash when calling ProjSuite5()- AEGP_OpenProjectFromPath

    I'm running 12.2
    I have code that opens a project.
    The only time this code doesn't make after effects crash is in the ImportFile command method; however, I'm trying to run a server ontop of my plugin so I can control after effects remotely.
    AEGP_ProjectH projH = NULL;
    AEGP_SuiteHandler suites(S_sp_basic_suiteP);
    A_UTF16Char templatePath[AEGP_MAX_PROJ_NAME_SIZE];
    const wchar_t* wide_templatePath = L"C:\\Projects\\TT1.aep";
    copyConvertStringLiteralIntoUTF16(wide_templatePath, templatePath);
    ERR(suites.ProjSuite5()->AEGP_OpenProjectFromPath(templatePath, &projH));
    I click debug and hook into visual studio and it's saying.
    Unhandled exception at 0x000000003201B840 (Projector.aex) in AfterFX.exe: Stack cookie instrumentation code detected a stack-based buffer overrun.
    I've even tried registering into the IdleHook and it still crashes.. Any ideas?

    I ended up calling ExecuteScript and hooking into the importfile callback.
    A_char* scriptAC = "app.project.importFile(new ImportOptions(new File(\"test.vmp\")));";
    ERR(suites.UtilitySuite5()->AEGP_ExecuteScript(S_my_id, scriptAC, FALSE, NULL, NULL));

  • After Effects crashes while choosing render settings

    Every time without fail After Effects crashes when I try to change my render settings. When I'm in Render Queue > Output Module > Click Lossless > Under Video Output > Format Options button. When I try to click the Format Options Button to change from animation quality to like h.256, After Effects Crashes. Below is the Alert message it gives me when it crashes. I have a late 2013 13" macbook pro with retina. I've purged all memory and disk cache as well and still it crashes every time. I can't have 10 second videos being 300 MB so any suggestions?

    First, make sure your AE is up-to-date.
    Second, you should be rendering your compressed files from the Adobe Media Encoder. H.264 from the render cue and QuickTime is a mess. Don't even try. Apple really found that up.

  • After Effects crashes everytime I use Timecode

    I have Version 10.0.1.19 running on windows 7 64bit with 8Gbs of RAM.  Everytime I try to add a timecode effect to a wmv and export the file After Effects crashes half way through export.

    The first thing you should do is update to 10.0.2 or higher... AE may be up to 10.0.3.  Anyway, it's easy and it's free; go Help>Update.  Make sure you turn off any antivirus or firewall software before you do it.
    Second, I'm not a big fan of using Windows Media in AE.  If the update doesn't help, you might consider converting that file to an lossless or uncompressed AVI.  I think converting it to a Quicktime movie in the PNG codec would be even better.
    Third -- and you might be surprised by this -- but 8 gigs isn't exactly a boatload of RAM in AE for multiprocessing.  What happens when you turn off multiprocessing?
