AFTER EFFECTS CRASHING WHEN CLICK ON MAC MENU!!!!

I downloaded after effects from creative cloud, and purchased it as well. It launches fine, and opens properly, but when I try to click ANYWHERE on the mac transparent menu at the top of the screen, it freezes and crashes. I have tried re-installing several times, still no luck!!!!! i am running a macbook pro mountain lion 10.8.4 with CUDA Nvidia graphics proccesor. HELP PLEASE!!!

Ok, so when Adobe CS cleaner opens, it gives me options to clean installed adobe applications, and once  I clicked after effects and pressed clean, after effects vanished from my computer. It didnt say anything like: Finished, or Succesfully Fixed. Is this right?

  • After Effects crashes when rendering to H264

    Hi,
    On one of my computers, After Effects Crashes when rendering to H264. It always chrashes when doing the last frame of a clip. I think its when muxxing the m4a and the m4v together...
    Does anyone have a solution? maybe there is some odd codec trash going on?
    Thanks in advance!

    Report
    In every version of AE that has been capable of exporting h.264 the quality has been significantly lower than exporting with an app that gives you the option of multi-pass rendering. This has always been true for MPEG codecs that use inter frame (temporal) compression. You just can't get the same quality without multi pass compression. This goes back to the first use of MPEG streams.
    AE CS6 may have H.264 encoding broken internally, but any pro has never used AE to render highly compressed delivery codecs because AE was never designed to be the right tool for the job.

  • After Effects Crashes when trying to replace footage

    I recently got a new PC and the new computer has drive letters assigned to removeable drives that used to point to where my files were stored.  When I try to replace the footage, After Effects crashes and does not give me any option to send a crash report.  I updated to 10.0.1.19 and updated my video card driver (which fixed a problem with OpenGL not registering), but it did not solve my issue.  I can include the crash details here:
    Problem signature:

    Intel Core i7 860
    ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB (latest driver installed)
    1 TB Hard Drive
    8GB DDR3 Memory
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks for the insight.  "Performance of the external drives" was pretty close, I think.
    I believe it was due to the fact that when I created the project, the files were located on an external drive "F".  My new system designated drive "F" as one of the built-in card reader slots.  AE did not want to replace the source from the card reader unless 1) there was a card in the slot and 2) the original file (or one with the same name at least) was on the card. I wasn't about to go through all that heartache and discontent (I was missing about 30 files, and the 1GB card was nowhere close to big enough to hold the 9GB of data), so I used the Disk Management utility to reassign the drive letters.  Luckily I have a couple of external drives - one to assign to the source "F" drive and another to be the new target "M".  There was some creative shuffling that had to happen to get the connections right, but it made AE happy.

  • After Effects crash when calling ProjSuite5()- AEGP_OpenProjectFromPath

    I'm running 12.2
    I have code that opens a project.
    The only time this code doesn't make after effects crash is in the ImportFile command method; however, I'm trying to run a server ontop of my plugin so I can control after effects remotely.
    AEGP_ProjectH projH = NULL;
    AEGP_SuiteHandler suites(S_sp_basic_suiteP);
    A_UTF16Char templatePath[AEGP_MAX_PROJ_NAME_SIZE];
    const wchar_t* wide_templatePath = L"C:\\Projects\\TT1.aep";
    copyConvertStringLiteralIntoUTF16(wide_templatePath, templatePath);
    ERR(suites.ProjSuite5()->AEGP_OpenProjectFromPath(templatePath, &projH));
    I click debug and hook into visual studio and it's saying.
    Unhandled exception at 0x000000003201B840 (Projector.aex) in AfterFX.exe: Stack cookie instrumentation code detected a stack-based buffer overrun.
    I've even tried registering into the IdleHook and it still crashes.. Any ideas?

    I ended up calling ExecuteScript and hooking into the importfile callback.
    A_char* scriptAC = "app.project.importFile(new ImportOptions(new File(\"test.vmp\")));";
    ERR(suites.UtilitySuite5()->AEGP_ExecuteScript(S_my_id, scriptAC, FALSE, NULL, NULL));

  • After Effects crashes when opening

    When I try to open After Effects I get a window with this message
         error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was <368> <GPU Manager> <2> Sniffer Result Code:1
    And then After Effects crashes without opening. It did open once yesterday but today it won't.

    What EXACT version number (down to the last decimal) of AE are you using? What OS are you using? What are your system specs?
    Also, if you have an AMD card, did you install CUDA drivers? If so, that's the problem. Read this: Avoid installing NVIDIA CUDA drivers on computers with AMD GPUs

  • After Effects Crashes when using dynamically linked files

    When I try to edit a dynamically linked after effects, After Effects crashes, which then crashes Premiere Pro. I have CS5.5 master. Is this a problem with the after effects file (only 8kb in size) or something wrong with After Effects. The files come up as being linked in Premiere Pro but when I open the After Effects file to do further editing, it just crashes.

    You told us zero about your system and your project settings on bothe ends, so this is not going anywhere. Such crashes can have any number of reasons from running out of memory to graphics card issues but we truly cannot know.

  • Crash when clicking on edit menu

    Hi,
    on a customers computer, adobe reader crashes when clicking on the edit menu (german menu "Bearbeiten").
    It doesn't matter if a pdf is open or not.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help.
    What can I do?
    Thanks alot,
    Fabian

    Peter,
    Yes, I can bring up the Paragraph Styles and the Character palettes with no document open, edit the [Basic Paragraph] style to change the font family, then open a blank document, and new text boxes will use that font.
    I'm on a bit of a deadline right now, so I ended up uninstalling ID CS5 and reinstalling it.  I can now successfully bring up the Edit menu and the right-click context menu both in a blank document and in the document I was working on before.  I'm sure the problem will reappear again at some random point in the future, so I am still looking for fixes that don't involve reinstalling the app.
    BTW, I have tried exporting my work document to IDML and re-importing it, but to no avail.  I've also tried toggling Dynamic Spelling (past threads have suggested this as a possible fix), but also to no avail.
    It would be really nice if Adobe products produced some sort of crash dump or bug report when this sort of thing happens...

  • Mac OS X 10.10 : After Effect hides when clicking other windows.

    Hello, I'm having an issue with After Effect CC. When clicking on other windows like apps and or desktop or finder windows After Effect will hide I was wondering if this was normal this was not happing when I was using After Effect CS6 and only happen since using CC is there away to fix this or is it normal for After Effect CC to hide when using other windows and or apps ?

    No, it does not happen to any of my other apps on my mac and it does not happen with any other Adobe software like Photoshop, Premiere pro and illustrator. This issue only happens with After Effect CC (this also did not happen when I was using CS6 only since I upgraded to CC (and this problem has been happing before the new mac update to 10.10))
    But thats for the comments and if you find a answer on how to fix it please let me know.
      Thanks for your time and have a great day.

  • InDesign CS5 crashes when clicking on Edit menu or context menu

    I had this infuriating problem with InDesign CS4, found a few references to others having the same issue, but never any real solutions.  This problem seems to in InDesign CS5 as well.
    With a document open, if I click the Edit menu or right-click anywhere in the document window (including in the pasteboard area... it does not have to be on an object), ID immediately freezes and I get the Windows 7 "Adobe InDesign CS5 has stopped working" dialog.
    I've deleted the preferences, created a brand new one-page document, and the problem persists.  If no document is open, I can pull down the Edit menu just fine.  With a document open, ID crashes before it even draws the menu.  It does not matter whether I use the mouse or the keyboard to get to the Edit menu.  I can also right-click on things like palette tabs to bring up the context menu.  But I cannot right-click anywhere on the document itself without ID crashing.
    The maddening thing is that the problem did not show up until some time today.  I've brought up an object's Effects window via right-click plenty of times, as well as used the Fitting context menu.  It was working fine last night and earlier this morning.  Then suddenly for no discernible reason, the crashes started happening.  I am not aware of any changes to my system that might reasonably cause this.  No new fonts, no Windows updates, no Adobe updates.
    Any suggestions on how else I can troubleshoot this?

  • After Effects Crashes when Rendering

    Hello,
    I need some assistance. When trying to "render" a composition, After Effects keep crashing. It gives me the following message, "An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted." Error# 1610153464

    As Mylenium says, this sort of info would be helpful in troubleshooting. You haven't even told us what version of AE. 12.2.0? 11.0.4? 10.0.3?

  • After Effects Crash when editing a Project on high end PC.

    Good day i am trying to edit a project on after effects and it all opens just fine, but when i go to edit and move around in the timeline i get crash reports and the program either closes or just doesnt respond. I have a Alienware PC, with 32 GB ram and a 4GB video card. Shouldnt have any PC restraints.

    Utilizing all the cores and all the memory is not what you are after. You have to leave resources for other processes and you have to make sure that your system has enough resources to do things like decode footage in the background and process the effects you are setting up in AE. Some video codecs do not respond well to MP rendering so you may have to turn that off or transcode your footage to something that works.
    As Myenium said your question lacked the details necessary to even guess what is going wrong. The best option to troubleshoot your problem is to reset your preferences to the default settings then see if the project works. If it doesn't start exploring things like source footage formats for problems. Then start adjusting your memory and MP settings using the guidelines that Adobe has published for optimizing performance.

  • After Effects crashing on splash screen Mac

    Hi,
    My After Effects (11?) cs6 will no longer open on my mid 2011 21.5 imac. I have been running it and the rest of the production premium suite for about a year now and have had no troubles with them up until now.
    Everytime I open it up it quickly flashes from the splash screen to an After Effects Alert. The alert says
    Last log message was: <140735312810768> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code :3.
    I am running osx 10.9.2 and Adobe cs6.
    I have a AMD Radeon HD 6750m 512 MB graphics card (I believe, I really don't know much about computer parts) and have not had an issue running AE on this before.
    I have tried unistalling and reinstalling but the program still won't work. I did the update for them and they still didn't work.
    I have no idea what could be causing this problem because it was working fine on Tuesday last week, but when I came in Wednesday and tried to open it this message apperared. I didn't run any updates for anything through the night.
    Thanks,
    Justin Steunenberg

    I've been seeing a lot of people with this error message after they tried to install CUDA on their AMD graphics cards. If you did that, that's what the problem is. CUDA is an NVIDIA technology and it will really screw with a computer that's using an AMD card. Read this.
    Also, what version of CS6 are you running? 11.0.4? 11.0.2?

  • After effects crashing when changing audio input

    Hi all,
    I've been trying to get my Steinberg (Yamaha) ur-28m external USB audio interface/soundcard to work with After Effects CS6 for a week now. The problem is that everytime I change the audio input in the AE preferences to the Steinberg asio drivers AE freezes for a few seconds and then crashes. Same thing happens in Premiere btw.
    I've tried everything possible:
    - updated Steinberg drivers to newest version
    - updated AE to latest version
    - trashed preferences
    - totally removed and installed master collection again
    - formatted hd and Reinstalled windows 7 and installed Master collection again.
    - tried all possibles buffer rates
    Problem still there...
    I looked into the events log and it mentions ntdll.dll and makes afterfx.exe crash.
    Bottom line is I can't work with sound now, which is really frustrating. In other programs (non Adobe) these drivers are rock solid.
    Apparantly After effects (and in my case premiere also) doesn't like Steinberg. I saw this other thread about Steinberg in After Effects: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1063355.
    Doesn't look like it's been solved.
    Main specs of my pc:
    Intel i7-2600
    16GB ram Corsair
    Nvidia gtx 560 ti
    Gigabyte Z68P-DS3 motherboard
    Seagate 1TB (7200rpm)
    Anybody some ideas? Thanks!!

    Basically what I did was set it as the line out for sound from windows, so
    all sounds will be routed through the UR22 (Will work with any program).
    You can leave it set as is to have windows sounds play out of the computer
    line/speaker out and go into the sound settings in Premiere and set the
    audio playback device as the UR22 (Only Premiere plays out of UR22) but
    that is where i had problems. I just set all audio playback in windows to
    route to the UR22 (Line Out in windows) and left settings in Premiere alone
    (In Playback settings leave audio device as Adobe Desktop Audio....Premiere
    routes to windows output, which i set to UR22) and everything worked fine.
    I am a video editor and spend 95% of my time in Premiere and  some time in
    Audition and After Effects and it has worked great.The only issue I have
    had with the UR22 is that every once in a while if i leave my system on
    over night rendering and playback something the next morning any audio will
    sound like it is playing back too slow (Pitch shifted lower). But all you
    have to do is unplug the usb and plug it back in and all is well again.
    Hope this helps. Good luck.
