  • Adobe After Effects (CS2) Question. Please Help!!!

    Hi All,
I use Adobe After Effects CS2 and I am currently trying to make a still 2D Photoshop CS2 Image, into a 3D Short Movie (7 Seconds or so) on After Effects. However, when I import my Photoshop Image into After Effects, it only has a time duration of 2 Frames (0.2 Seconds I think?). I need this duration of time for the picture increased (as it is a still picture movie) but I'm not sure how to do it after fiddling around with my After Effects for about 2 - 3 Hours. I need to be able to put the time duration of my picture so it is able to be showing up on screen for about 15 Seconds. Also, how to you add 3D Text onto an After Effects picture? (In the movie). I really need help with this as I want this After Effects Film to be completed ASAP!!!
Any help would be highly appreciated!

  • Upon Launch After Effects Pro CS3 Crashes - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

I recently installed the 32 bit version of Adobe After Effects Professional CS3 (and later applied the 8.02 Update) on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit computer (Service Pack 1 - 12 GB RAM). It's installed (along with all of my other applications) on a 256 GB solid state drive.
Shortly after launching the application (as it begins to load), the following message appears:
After Effects Error: sfntread library error  (83 :: 4)
It continues to reappear several times after clicking 'OK'.
Then a final error message appears just before the program aborts its loading process and crashes:
After Effects warning: unknown BIB error, sfntread library error  CT, 0
I currently have the complete version of Adobe Design Premium CS5 also installed on my Windows system. No problems occurred with its installation and all of the programs within the suite launch and load properly as expected. The only other Adobe CS3 application that I also installed before installing After Effects CS3 was Premeire Pro CS3 which also installed, launched and loaded properly with no error messages appearing during the entire process.
I did an initial search here on the forum using the error messages but did not find a solution that is workable with my particular operating system (64 bit) and the 32 bit After Effects Professional CS3 application.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Note that Windows 7 is not listed as an operating system supported for After Effects CS3:

The application was written, tested, and released before Windows 7 was available.

  • Problems with After Effects/Premiere CS3 in Vista

I have read through a bundle of solutions to this problem and haven't found anything that has worked yet. I ran After Effects and Premiere Pro on Vista up until two days ago when it refused to open. When I try to open Premiere, it gives the message "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attemp to save your current project." When I tryo to open After Effects, the firts try does nothing. The second attempt will open After Effects, but all interfaces are missing and all the dropdown menus are grayed out. When I close it, it says After Effects has crashed, contact support, error 0:42. I have uninstalled/deactivated and reinstalled, run codec sniper, removed xmi preference settings and nothing works. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you run the CS3 Clean Script? If not, please do so before attempting any reinstalls. More info on such stuff here and here.

  • Adobe After Effects CS4/(CS3) Installation

    Hello,
Yesterday i downloaded Adobe After Effects CS4 trail. When it finished downloading i ran this file: "ADBEAFETCS4_LS7.exe". It started to extract all the files but when it almost was done, it said the program had to close with the Don't Send and Send Report thing. After that i tried opening: "ADBEAFETCS4_LS7.7z" with WinRAR and run the Setup.exe from there. But when i double clicked it, i also got the Dont' Send window.
Then i thought maybe Adobe After Effects CS3 works, so i downloaded that trail. When it was finished i ran Setup.exe and it started to initialise, but when the progressbar was 100% is closed, but no setup window appeared.
How can i install one of these beautiful programs. Please help me out.
(I also tried to download it on my laptop but there i couldn't  download the download Manager...)
    Stupid errors...
    Thanks in advance

Please provide more info about your system. The installer popping away is eitehr a sign of a severe permission issue or insufficient drive space in the temporary directory.

  • After Effects 6.5 upgrade

How come Premiere pro users can upgrade to Premiere Pro CS5 from any version of Premiere pro, yet After Effects users can only upgrade to CS5 from only as far back as 7.0? I ask because I have AE 6.5 and qualified for a CS4 upgrade (impossible to find anywhere, missed the boat on that one) and am wondering why my version of Premiere Pro from 2003 qualifies for a CS5 upgrade where as my version of AE from 2004 doesn't. Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in.

The Video Lounge is where all of the non-technical questions go. It was probably moved by a moderator who saw that it wasn't a technical question.
As far as why certain things are priced certain ways--- no one on these forums is going to be able to answer that. We can help you with technical problems, but the people who make pricing decisions about software five versions old don't tend to spend much time here.

  • Audio in After Effects 8 CS3

when you want to play the clip back, how do you make it so its like a regular editing software where you can mess around with the audio as well? or do you need to do it in like premiere pro or something?

    Antinet wrote:
AE is also ruined by some inane stupidity, like non-obvious audio controls. I have to RAM preview this thing everytime? Why doesnt it stay rendered? Why is fifteen seconds of a composition too much for this program to handle with its audio just sitting there. WHy do I have to press 0 on the numberpad and then space bar to preview audio and video together when that is so basic to editing? Who is responsible for this abomination....?
First of all, if you want longer ram previews you just need more ram, or you can lower the preview quality to quarter. You can also ask the preview to skip some frames so you'll get even longer preview.
By reduce from full res to half res, you will have 4 times longer previews, and 16 times longer preview if you are on quarter resolution.
Previewing with 0 on the keypad will preview Sound and Video, so no need to use the spacebar.
AE is not an NLE, and is clearly not optimised to do editing. AE is a post production tools and it has been designed to produce higher quality render over faster/longer previewing. That's why you cannot preview as in Premier Pro, Vegas of Final Cut. For each frame, AE decompress the full uncompressed version in ram, then apply all the effects and then render it with other layers according to your comp settings, whereas NLE will use optimised routines to preview video and won't uncompress everyframe like AE.

  • Premiere HDV Workflow (After Effects CS3 too)

I'm working with a Sony HDR-FX1 and Premiere Pro CS3 to capture my HDV clips - in mpeg format.
    1. I'm looking for the best way to edit these HDV clips in Premiere. I have heard of CineForm's Neo Scene and I was wondering if I NEED this to edit the HDV clips in Premiere or not. If I don't need CineForm, are there any alternatives to editing the footage in Premiere or tips on speeding up the process?
    2. Please note that I will be working between Premiere Pro & After Effects (both CS3) and back to Premiere so I'm also wondering what type of file I can export from After Effects to get back to Premiere. Will I need the CineForm codec for this step as well? I'd like to export to a file where I won't lose any quality or compress my video when bringing it back into Premiere for editing.
    3. I noticed after importing one of my HDV clips into After Effects it's separated by Upper field first. Will I need to export with Upper field no matter what format I use when rendering from After Effects?
Any tips, links or tutorials on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
    Foochuck

    Although not absolutely necessary
Cineform prospect HD & adobe cs3 ( premiere & after effects) works very well together. The CFHD format gives You a fluent workflow and is cleraly recommended.
( and this codec should have been implemented as part of "the adobe package" - just like native drivers for P2 and EX1 - but thats another discussion)
( btw : anything less than 2.1 - 2.4 core_2_duo will be a pain without CF as I see it)

  • Can't install CS3 Upgrade on NEW iMac 24". An Imac DVD drive issue?

My CS3 Design Premium Upgrade CD fails to install Photoshop on my BRAND NEW iMac yet it is able to install everything else on the CS3 disc. I just bought this iMac yesterday and CS2/CS3 Upgrade are the FIRST things I installed (besides updates) when I turned it on. I'm still using 10.4.10.
I searched through the Adobe forums and the internet as to how others with the same issue have dealt with the problem, but it seems the most common reason is that people had installed Photoshop CS3 beta previously as well as older Flash/Acrobat plug-ins conflicting with the installation process. Further, these causes seem to be effecting Windows users.
So a few hours ago I tried to COPY the upgrade CD contents to my hard disk, I get the message:
"The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'AdobePhotoshop 10en_US.dmg' could not be read or written. (Error code -36)."
This procedure of copying to the disk (and the resulting error message) is SPECIFICALLY addressed in the Adobe support pages TechNotes:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401429&sliceId=2
The page says that it may be a drive issue that is causing the problem. Of the 7 possible solutions given on the page, I've narrowed it down to only 1 option left (but I can't try it since I don't have another Mac!):
"*Solution 4*: Copy the software to the hard drive of a different computer.
*If the software copies successfully, the model of DVD drive on your original computer might not be able to read the DVD. Contact the DVD drive or computer manufacturer for any updates that might be available.*"
But what's funny (or annoying rather) is, I had a 20" Alum 2.4 iMac earlier this year (returned because of screen problem), and the CS3 upgrade installed without any problems on it!..??? And according to the iMac specs, the 20" and 24" models both have the same DVD drive make right?
Any ideas??? Are there other 24" iMac users who are experiencing similar problems? If not, then I guess I may have to return yet another iMac...which I'm reluctant to do since this screen is PERFECT! I'm scared to get another iMac with the dreaded screen gradient issue.

    I just solved the problem.
I tried copying the DVD files to the hard disk about 7-8 more times. The last try SUCCESSFULLY copied to the disk and I was able to install Photoshop CS3.
    Yay.

  • After Effects CC import "Sequence Footage" frame rate settings in "Import" preferences

Just started using the new AE CC (v12 as Adobe will not refer to it as) I noticed one thing that seems to work differently from CS6 and that is in the preferences for import Sequence footage settings.  It doesn't seem to work normally, at least for me.  I don't know if this is an issue related to how AE CC works with the cloud but the dfault frame rate for sequence footage importing is 30fps.  I am trying to import footage that is natively 23.97 at 24 fps.  So like in CS6 I go to Preferences - Import - Sequence Footage - frame per second and change it from 30 to 24 frames per second.  Closed the software, opened it back up, checked the settings and saw that they took, it still says 24 frames per second like I told it.  But when I import a piece of 23.976 footage, it comes in at 23.976 as opposed to the 24 fps I set it as.  Same goes for 30 fps footage, it comes in at 30 fps and not 24.  User error is always my first assumption, I'm not proud i just want it to work, am I doing something wrong or just confused?  Thanks for any help.  p.s.  help is not someone responding with, "I don't know" or "I don't have AECC yet".  I know somebody is going to!

    Hi Tim,
WOW!  Thanks for the super-fast reply!  As soon as I posted this I realised I should have mentioned that I am importing DPX files.  I do import quicktimes as well but know that the footage import does not apply to a single file, only a sequence of files.  But I still wonder if I may be either doing something wrong or am just a little confused.  I have been using After Effects since CS3 doing compositing for film and I always use DPX sequences.  I did a bunch of comparing and back and forth with AE CS6 and AECC while trying to figure this out.  I always set my preferences up when I upgrade before I start working and I always set them up the same.  I have been using CS6 since last July and it still works the same.  What I did is imported five or six different DPX sequences, some were rendered out as 24 fps, some at 30 and some at 23.976.  Assuming AE looks at the metadata to decide how to auto interpret, AE CC opened them all at their native frame rates of the just mentioned 24, 30 and 23.976 respectively, even though I told it to import at 24fps in the preferences.  I also imported the same files in AE CS6 and they all opened at 24 fps like always.  I know I can change the frame rate in the "Interpret footage" option, that is what I have been doing today so that I can work with footage in 24fps but since I have it set in the preferences to import image sequences at 24fps, I am perplexed as to why it does not do so, so I do not have to interpret the footage to my preferred frame rate, as is the case in AE CS6 as well as it was in CS 5.5 and CS 3.  Since I was lucky enough to have an Adobe employee chime in Tim, I would be curious to see what you may find if you recreated this scenario.  Would it be possible for you or someone at Adobe to set the sequence footage import frame rate to 24 fps in the preferences then try to open a piece of footage that is natively 23.976 fps in both AE CS6 and AE CC?  Like I said, I certainly beleive I may be doing something wrong but I would be very curious to see what you find on your side.  I would not be suprised if it imported at 24 fps in AE CS6 and 23.976 fps in AE CC.

  • After effects ebay

    Hallo Leute

Adobe After Effects 5.0/5.5, Mac, Deutsch
    a) Vollversion After Effects 5.0, Mac, Deutsch, Programm-CD in orignal Cd-Box, Handbuch in Deutsch

Also mal Klartext: Vergiß es!

  • Which After effects, effects, work with Premiere?

I read somwhere on this forum that you can associate After Effects files (effects) to work in Premiere. Now I'd like to know which ones are they and how do I findthem and associate them with Premiere. I suppose it has to do with all the copy/pasteing. I have Premiere and After Effects , both CS3.

If a plug-in creator has deliberately created a plug-in to work in both After Effect and Premiere Pro, they'll almost always make a point of mentioning that in the informaiton about the plug-in. The installers for the major commercial plug-ins that work in both automatically install the plug-ins in the appropriate place for use in both applications.
If a plug-in hasn't been created deliberately to work with both applications, then it probably won't work in both, and it may cause problems.
So, for this reason, I recommend against trying to use plug-ins in Premiere Pro unless the creator of that plug-in ahs specifically said that that has been tested.

  • Adobe After Effects CS3 upgrade doesn't show as product purchased on "My Products and Services" page

    Hi,
I have purchased both Adobe Photoshop 6.00, a upgrade from it to Photoshop CS2, Adobe After Effects 8, and a upgrade from it to After Effects C3.  The Adobe Photoshop 6.00 shows up with its corresponding serial numberand the Photoshop CS2 upgrade shows up separtely with its serial number.  After Effects shows up as version 8 but has the serial number from the CS3 product and there is only one entry for it.
Did I lose my After Effects CS3 upgrade when I used it to get the discount for the Creative Cloud and that is why it is showing up as version 8?
    Thanks, Ron

    Thank you.
I should have looked at my old version's box and I would have relized that. So, there is no loss of ownership or anything of that nature in using Adobe After Effects CS3 for the Adobe Cloud discount?  I would be free to even sell it?
    Thanks, Ron
