This happens every time i try to import any kind of file. And I'm running the trial version of AE btw.
Now heres the things i have already tried.
    1)Reinstalling After Effects repeatedly.
    2)updating quick time
    3)Deleting the pref file
    4)removed any and all plug-ins
    5)Deleted the OpenGL file
    6)changed by screen resolution.
    7)closed down anti-virus programs
8)Tried various ways of importing files, like drag and drop
    9)tried importing different files.
10)Restarting my computer after attempting the all above^
I have also been to the general specialist website already thank you very much.
Edit: Now i have also tried uninstalling quick time and all of the video codec packs on my computer, this also didn't help (i did remember to restart afterwards)
Edit: Also, i started a new thread because nothing in any of the other threads on this same or similar errors was at all helpful to me.
edit3: i might also add that i have after effects 6.5 and it works just fine, though its much older.

  • Adobe After Effects CS3 crashes with Codecs such as Motion JPEG and Avid DnxHD

    Hey guys, I'm new here
I'm having a problem with After Effects CS3 crashing with .mov files (exported from Adobe Premiere) with codecs such as Motion Jpeg A and Avid's DnxHD. Its driving me crazy.
If I import a Motion Jpeg A file, AE crashes immediately. If I import a DnxHD file that works fine with Premiere, it seems to import ok. However, when I try to play it in AE it comes up as a plain white... thing. If I move the slider across it previews one or two frames before AE crashes. Its driving me crazy.
AE works ok with H.164 and animation files.
I'm reinstalled quicktime and Avids codecs, uninstalled ffdshow, disabled Open GL and multiprocessing, changed between 10bit and 8bit (whatever that is all about) with the dnxhd and I'm really stumped. If I can get Dnxhd working I'm fine with that. I thought I'd mention the Motion Jpeg A codec to see if they're a result of the same problem.
I've also tried Avid's RGB packed Codec with the same results.
I'm running Windows Xp 32 bit with 3gbs of ram, a GeForce 8600 gt with a Intel Pentium Duo Core Processor 2.00 GHZ.
    Can anyone help me please?

I'm mistaken, Animation files don't work either!
I tried that with no luck. I even tried a few more Quicktime codecs with the same results.
Only H.164 and some png compressed .mov files seem to work. Very frustrating.
I'm surprised thats the case - I am defintley due for an upgrade. Even though this system seems to work ok, struggling a little bit with HD .mov files but yeah, I've been planning a new system for a while.

  • Adobe After Effects CS3 Crashes

When I try to run the program I get the following error:
After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. See http://www.adobe.com/support/products/aftereffects.html for know issues. If you still can't resolve the issue, please contant Adobe Technical Support (2).
    ( 0 :: 42)
I've been searching ages around the net to find a solution, thought I haven't came across one. I really hope someone can help me with this problem.
It's very strange, because when I run the program as Administrator, the error doesn't occur. But when I import a video, open a project or something the same error pops up. Any idea's?

I have a 512MB graphics card, 4 GB of RAM. My computer should be able to handle it. It can handle the thoughest games, so.
Next to that, I also have Premiere Pro CS3, which used to work but doesn't anymore. When I start that up, it says Program doesn't work anymore and it shuts down automaticly.
And about the last status message, the only thing I see it the square after effects splash thing. Saying it uses 1% of my 4GB, then the error pops up and nothing happends.
Anyway, on the internet I read most of the time it has something to do with broken codecs and such. So I downloaded codec sniper, which says a few Premiere Pro codecs are broken. Can this have a link to After Effects not working?

  • After Effects CC crashing on importing PSD (ae.blitpipe error message)

    Hi guys,
I hope you can help me, Adobe Support couldn't so far.
I recently installed After Effects CC on my MacBook Pro 13" (2012), 16GB RAM, Mountain Lion 10.8.4.
I cannot import PSD files into AE. Everytime I try, it crashes with the following message:
Zuletzt protokollierte Meldung: <140735306359168> <ae.blitpipe> <2> Making New Context
It doesn't matter, what kind of PSD file I try to import. But to be sure, I created a new PSD file, 1920x1080, 72 dpi, RGB, just with a background, no effects, flattened, just that single background layer. It won't import, AE always crashes.
I'm also running After Effects CS3 on that MacBook. Importing PSD files there works perfectly here.
    I tried these troubleshooting procedures:
    - trashing preferences
    - uninstalling every single Adobe Product
    - cleaning with the Creative Suite Cleaning Tool
    - Reinstalling just After Effects CC (still wont import PSD files at this stage)
    - Reinstalling Photoshop Elements 11, creating a new PSD file, still doesn't work.
I don't know what else to do right now. I want to avoid reinstalling the whole operating system because I'm working on projects at the moment (with Final Cut Pro X).
    You have an idea?

  • After Effects CS5 crashes when impoting AIFF audio.

    Hi,
AE CS5 keeps crashing me when I try to import AIFF audio.  I've tried different clips rendered from different sources, but still it's crashing.  The files are small and I have no problem processing HD video, so it's not a performance issue.  Anyone having similar problems that might lend me some advice?
I'm running a MacPro 2 X 2.66 GHz Doal -Core Intel Xeon with 8 GB ram.
    Update:
VERY STRANGE!  I closed that project and created a new one and presto - audio imports fine.  When I re-open the old project it still crashes when importing.  I guess that's a work-around, so problem solved (?)...

Thanks in advance for your help

Have you installed the After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.
[EDIT: Oops. I see that TimeRemapper already asked that.]

  • After Effects CC freezes when importing PSD files

Version 12.2.1 of after Effects no longer imports Photoshop's PSD files (Photoshop 14.2.1 x64).
The last project I worked on was on 7th March 2014.  Today is the 28th March 2014.  What could have happened in the intervening three weeks I wonder?
An update to AE I'm guessing...
    Is this a known problem?
    Is there a fix?
How do I report this to Adobe?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    James

    Hi Rick,
I made sure the images are RGB, but I don't know what simple means. Nor do I know how to make them the same size as the comp (composition?). I saved the images as Tif and PNGs and they imported without crashing. I literally have just opened to the first chapter of After Effects: Classroom in a Book, so please bear with me.
When I first imported a Photoshop file, AE crashed with this alert:
    After Effects Alert
    Last log message was: <140735304074000>
    <SyncService> <4> CheckConnection: 3.
Generating crash log, which may take a few minutes.
    (Updated errors below)
As I mentioned, I'm following the instructions for lesson 1 in the Adobe book, After Effects CC: Classroom in a Book. The first few steps are to import a group of files. I import the footage files first, then when I try the .psd file, AE crashes.
    Here are my specs:
    AE CC 2014 Version 13.0.2.3
    OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
    iMac 21" late 2009
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    12 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB (I installed the CUDA driver on another account of this iMac--should only need to be done once, no matter whose account, right?)
Connected over wifi to a Belkin router.
    UPDATE:
I switched my wifi connection to the 5 GHz band and tried again (since some online searches seemed to indicate this error message had to do with TCP) and got a new error when trying to import the .psd file:
<ALOG> <5> PSL AE Interface Cache Cache
    created: /Users/[myname]/Documents/Lesson01/Assets/bgwtext.psd.
    UPDATE:
Switched to ethernet, got the same <ALOG> <5> PSL message, switched back to 2.4 GHz wifi and still get the same message. I cannot replicate the first SyncService error message.
The Adobe Creative Cloud is connected to the Internet and can download other Adobe applications, however Photoshop Elements 6 shows a "No Internet connection" message when I try to update it. Adobe Acrobat Reader updates fine. I have also tried to import the file in with Root enabled, but to no avail.

  • After Effects CS5 crashing when I try to make a new comp

First it was crashing when I imported files, now I fixed that but it's crashing when I try to make a new comp (may affect other things too, that's just what I noticed). It was working fine for 3+ months until now and I haven't had anyway software or hardware changes. I recently installed a video copilot plugin, but it was working for a few days then started crashing.
    I'm running on a Core i7 950 3.07ghz, 6GB DDR3 1600 RAM, 500gb SATA harddrive, and a GTX 465 graphics card.
It didn't give any error message, the only info I got was a windows message saying to look in my temporary app data. I looked herebut there was just a few XML files that listed my computer specs and a few AE stuff. I deleted them and it still didn't work.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Daniel

Have you installed the After Effects CS5 (10.0.2) update? The recent updates fix a lot of problems.
    > I recently installed a video copilot plugin, but it was working for a few days then started crashing.
Which one? There have been problems with Video Copilot plug-ins causing crashes. Make sure that you thave the most recent updates.
Try not using that plug-in, and see if you still get crashes.
Also make sure that your graphics card drivers are up to date.

  • After Effects CS3 Crashes Before Rendering is Complete

    Hello,
I have a little dilemma with rendering. I have a 10 minute clip with effects added to it such as Topaz (Enlarge), Primatte Keyer Pro 4.0, Keylight (1.2), and a Spill suppressor. When I go to render in QuickTime, or Windows Media I get about 30 frames into the render and AF CS3 crashes. Ive tried PNG Sequence rendering but it only puts out about 30 or so frames and doesnt render any more. What can I do to get a complete render? I have 4 Gigs of ram on my computer, but After Effects only shows 2 Gigs. Can someone aid me with some suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Ed

@ Robert, glad that you got it to work! For most i/o efficiency, ideally, you'd have AE (and your OS) running on one drive, your source material on a different drive, and your renders going to a third (different) drive.
@ Ed, Windows XP can only assign a 2GB per-process unless the /3GB switch is enabled (do so at your own risk--may cause system instability)
Multiprocessing features in AE will allow you to launch background processes of AE to use the extra available RAM, but this is more of an advantage in OS' that allow the motherboard to have more than 4GB installed (as the recommended allotment of RAM per instance is 2GB). You have to leave some RAM for your OS to operate, as well as any other apps you have running. As far as the clip rendering with all effects disabled, there might be one effect that is causing the crash. Try enabling them one at a time to see if you can find which one is responsible. Also, wmv footage can be heavily compressed. Try transcoding to a losslessly compressed codec, and using that instead (i.e. Quicktime Animation @ Best/Full quality).

  • InDesign CS3 crashes when importing multiple files.

I've got a new box that's been running pretty solid for several weeks now. It's Win 7 with 8 gigs. Just last night it starts crashing when I'm importing multiple files. Doesn't matter if it's JPGs, TIFFs, or PDFs.
I can import all the same files one by one using the place command.
Importing multiples using the place command or dragging & dropping crashes.
It's not a case of placing a PDF using the bleed box and no bleed box is set. And that usually doesn't crash InDesign, just fails to import.
I deleted the preferences file to no avail.
CS 5.5 has no problems. No, I can't just use 5.5. I'm the only person with it and really only use it for converting files for customers that don't have the common sense to send a PDF. Other people in the shop have to be able to open these same files.
Any ideas? This is already a pain since one of my main jobs is ganging business cards 72 up on a sheet.
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • After effects cs4 crashes on import

ok, what am I doing wrong?!? I created a 3d object in photoshop and when import it into ae it crashes, spinning pinwheel...no crash reporter or anything! Just an unresponsive ae with the spinning pingwheel...
anyone run into this? is there a way around it?

Before anything, are you sure it doesn't come back? Because some rendering modes and options in Live Photoshop 3D can take a lot of time to update (when you're within Photoshop, you get a rough OpenGL based preview and then you have to wait for the proper render. Since AE uses a headless version of the PS 3D engine to render, you only get the final render. And this can take time). It could not be the case for you, but it's worth checking it. Give it some time, and see if the app updates after that. Some 3D rendering options are expensive in terms of time, in any renderer.
