After Effects cs5 and Mocha

Today I just installed Adobe After Effects CS5, and when I opened up mocha for the first time, it prompted me with a message saying it was the first time i opened it, and something about setting it up with after effects. Of course i accidently clicked now, because my mouse likes to sometimes click for no reason and it closed before i got a chance to read the message. Im curious to what it said and it it impares my program perfermance since its not set up corretly. my question is, how do i get that message back, or can someone inform me as to what the message reads so i can set up all my programs correctly together. thank you

If you have installed the demo version, you won't be able to use it BTW. If you have a registered version, you already have the answer above
Hope that helps,
Seb

I have After Effects CS5 and need to work on a CS5.5 project. Can I still upgrade to 5.5? I can't find it anywhere. I have a VERY limited budget.

Do you have $50? You could become a subscriber to the Creative Cloud for that and get the very latest version of AE (which is version 12.2 right now, whereas CS5.5 is version 10.5). You would get access to the Roto Brush, the 3d camera tracker, and a Lite version of Cinema 4D along with a ton of other enhancements and new features!
Adobe is only selling CS6 (version 11) these days and renting both CS6 (version 11) and CC (version 12).
For free you could download CS6 or CC and use the trial for 30 days.
Alternatively, you could download a trial of CS5.5 (down this page somewhere: http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl) and use it for the next 30 days.
Another option: you can look for third-parties selling their copies of CS5.5, but beware of shady people selling pirated software.

  • Fix for crash in After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 when Joesoft Hear audio enhancer installed

After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 both can crash due to a conflict with the Joesoft Hear audio enhancer.
We've just gotten confirmation from Joesoft that they've released a beta version of Hear that doesn't conflict with After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5. We're recommending that our customers who also use Hear install the 1.0.5b2 (build 490) beta version of Hear.
Let us know on this forum thread whether this solution works for you. We on the After Effects and Premiere Pro teams will monitor this thread for feedback, and we'll make sure that the folks at Joesoft get the information that they need, too.
When reporting back, be sure to let us know whether you've installed the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update and After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update.

After 2 days trying to get AE and Premiere past the mediacore initialization message, I finally stumbled on this little message.  Updating Hear definitely solves the problem!

  • Questions about Adobe After Effects CS5 and CS5.5

I have the Adobe Design Creative Suite CS5 (Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS5, Flash CS5, Dreamweaver CS5, InDesign CS5, and Fireworks CS5) and was going to order an old copy of After Effects CS5 for my iMac. However when I was about to order on an online store, I notice that there is a CS5 and a CS5.5 version for After Effects. I would like to know which version is better and if I get Adobe After Effects CS5.5 version will I be able to intergrate with CS5 versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash?
Alos is there a way for to order a copy of Adobe After Effects CS5(or CS5.5 version) on the Adobe online store? I don't want to order the CS6 version of After Effects because I'm afraid I will not be able to intergrate it with my CS5 versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash.

You should get After Effects CS6. There is no reason to be concerned about using After Effects Effects CS6 with Flash, Illustrator, and Photoshop CS5.

  • After Effects CS5 and Sony HDR-SR1 AVCHD (.MTS) File Format

    Hi everyone,
I've just started with After Effects, and I the only video camera I have is an old Sony HDR-SR1 camera, which records in 1080i and uses the AVCHD file format. I've recorded a few videos, in which I proceeded to try and import to After Effects. The program came up with this error: "After Effects error: '0020.MTS' cannot be imported - this '.mts' file is damaged or unsupported." I understand that this error is pretty common, but I do not understand how to fix it. I've already tried the Media Encoder, and the videos that come out are horrible quality videos that are nothing like the videos recorded on the camera. I've also tried Sony's included Picture Motion Browser (I have the latest version) and when I try to convert, the video also comes out horrible quality and always has these annoying lines running across the video. Please help!
    Thanks!

Actually, the AE should recognize the AVCHD footage, since I imported one of my recoedings, which is 1080p MTS to AE, and it worked. Maybe the problem lies in 1080i. I always deinterlace my 1080i files and then import them to AE. You may try to deinterlace your files and then import them to AE.
As for the deinterlacing, you can google or you can give brorsoft mts converter, which I'm using now,  a try. It has a codec for AE and Adobe Premiere, wchich make it easier to import files to AE. Besides, you can convert your 1080i files to MPEG-2 and then import them to AE.

Update/ adjust your graphics card driver. Both crashes seem pretty clearly related to issues with graphics acceleration not working as required by both programs.

  • After Effects CS5 (and 5.5) Crash

    Hi guys,
I can't seem to figure out a remedy for the cause of this crash for the life of me, despite trying the solutions I've found through out the forums, knowledgebase, and elsewhere...
    System specs:
Dell Precision M6600, 24GB RAM, Core i7-2820QM, nVidia Quadro 4000M (w/ Optimus enabled) - Windows 7 x64, fresh installation with latest updates
Basically I do a fresh install of AE 10 -> Launch it and sniffer_gpu.exe crashes (faulting module: igd10umd64.dll) -> AE opens -> try to open a project, AE crashes (faulting module: ntdll.dll)
Update to 10.0.2.4, still does the same thing. Upgrade to CS5.5 trial, does the same thing.
Tried different versions of the Intel HD graphics driver (as indicated by the sniffer_gpu.exe crash), no avail, reverted to Dell's latest recommended. Also did the same for the nVidia driver.
Tried removing AE_opengl.aex (or something), tried disabling the already disabled "use opengl" for previews, tried renaming sniffer_gpu.exe to prevent it from launching, tried deleting the appdata / prefs, no avail.
Tried the suggestings in Adobe's KB about troubleshooting OpenGL issues...
Tried disabling Optimus from the BIOS, no help and not ideal for obvious reasons. Also tried setting the default GPU from Auto to the nVidia one.
Finally reverted back to AE CS4 and it runs beautifully without problems - but I want to use CS5 because I bought it as part of the Master Collection Suite
I'm pretty sure it has to do with the GPU detection on an Optimus chipset SPECIFICALLY with AE CS5. Premiere and Photoshop (CS5, 64-bit) detect my GPU correctly and run with the the nVidia card. In AE CS5, after sniffer_gpu.exe crashes and I get into the program, the preview preferences show that no video card is installed.
My understanding is that somehow, sniffer_gpu.exe isn't doing its job properly. It could also be that nVidia Optimus doesn't have the proper rules (nvidia problem) or that the Intel drivers aren't handing off to the nVidia drivers properly, but I am out of ideas and need some suggestions... (Or perhaps Adobe should change their GPU detection method for AE because it sucks - why would photoshop detect it but AE doesn't?)
    Anyways, sorry for the frustration...

I've been thinking about this since I saw it yesterday, but I honestly have no idea. Sounds more like a time-out issue and a rather specific one only affecting 64bit, as obviously your 32bit CS4 works...

  • After Effects CS5 and CS6 Quicktime Rendering Error

    Hi there
Recently I have a challenge with rendering in Quicktime output, one day my AE just stopped rendering my videos in Quicktime formats, specially "Photo Jpeg", I had AE CS5.5 on that moment. I shift to CS6 and yet the problem exists. The error number is: -1610153464 and for better understanding here is a screen capture of the error:
I went through all the existing discussion and forums but sadly no one was helpful, I tried evrything and no result. Surprisingly rendering in other formats are perfectly fine and fast, only Quicktime seems has problem.
Please someone help me out here, it just stops me from my daily works and projects, thank you so much.

I shift to CS6 and yet the problem exists.
How can you? It's not even released yet.
Please someone help me out here, it just stops me from my daily works and projects, thank you so much.
Again, how can it? If you are already using CS6, you are either using a prerelease version and discussions about bugs and issues have no place on a public forum or on the other hand you are simply using it illegally. Everything else - yes, that's a Quicktime error, but since you did not provide any more information, nobody can help you. we need to know exact settings, system specs, file storage options, Quicktime version etc.

  • After Effects CS5 and Open GL support on Radeon HD 6000 series

My friend just got me a new graphics card, a Radeon HD 6750, and I was curious if AE could still utilize the card for some OpenGL accelerated rendering despite not being on the list Adobe has posted.

No.  It can't.  Sorry.  You just have to forget about using Open GL to accelerate AE rendering.  It has never worked well in the past, and it doesn't work well now.
Here's a revealing fact: when they render in AE, many, MANY Adobe employees make sure Open GL acceleration is turned off for rendering.  Perhaps all of them do that.
Now: considering that this is a forum on the Adobe web site, which is constantly scrutinized by Adobe employees, it won't take very long at all for someone to contradict me if my so-called "revealing fact" is incorrect, will it?

  • "Adobe After Effects CS5 Render Issues"!

    Hey guys
I currently just downloaded the free trial of "Adobe After Effects CS5" and I am wanting to render some video which I added some colour correction to.
When I put this in the render queue and press render is says "You mus have at lease on render item queued in order to render". Also it says on status "Needs output"
How come this is happening, do I need to buy the full vision.
    Cheers
    ash

You haven't specified the output location or name. After Effects is telling you to do that.
    Follow the instructions here.
I strongly recommend beginning here if you're new to After Effects:

I am not surprised by that.  You need more memory on your computer!  You went from a computer with only 3 GB RAM to one with just 2 GB RAM.
Personally, I would not try to run AE on a computer with anything less than 8 GB RAM, and I would not try to use multiprocessing with it.  I would not try to use multiprocessing unless I had 16 GB RAM.
After Effects uses a lot of memory.  You are in desperate need of more memory.  Until you get more, you will be unsuccessful when you use it.

  • What is the easiest ways to create motion menus in Encore CS5 w/ After Effects CS5

    Hello,
What is the easiest way to create motion Menus in Encore CS5?  I'm creating a motion menu in after effects CS5 and will import as a menu in Encore, but I want to keep the animation, while the buttons will navigate you to the appropriate timelines.  I want to keep the animation going throughout the duration of the menu?
    Thanks,

The first link is Encore CS5 help. It is a good beginning.  I'm not sure if the tutorial it links to is the same as my second link.  The AE help link below is also useful.
CS5 allows creation of buttons in AE, but for plain navigation options, I think it is just as easy to add in Encore or Photoshop.

  • After Effects crashed and wont open

Ok so a few days ago I was working on After Effects CS5 and it crashed while rendering. I've to open it many times but always gives me the same message. I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it but the problem remains. And also downloading all adobe updates and it still doesn't work. If anyone could please help, if anyone actually knows the problem.
This is the window that keeps appearing. Stressing me out!

To clear all preferences, delete the entire 10.0 folder. After Effects will recreate a fresh copy when it starts.

Your question isn't clear. Are you using After Effects CS5 or CS5.5?
What exactly are you seeing and what are you doing?
I'm going to guess about how to interpret your post and point you to this thread about a bug in After Effects CS5 and a workaround for it:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3455089#3455089
That bug is fixed in After Effects CS5.5.
