Cannot run After Effects CS6 on Yosemite 10.10. Says "you can't use this version of AE CS6 on this version of OS X."

11.0.4 works with newer Mac OS's. 11.0.2 does not.

Adobe After Effects CS6 not loading ExporterQuickTimeHost.pr and ImporterQuickTimeHost.pr.
We have tried disabling the windows firewall and turning off our Antivirus but it makes no difference.
The program launches with the quicktime plug-inns perfectly when ran as local administrator but will not work as any other user.
Other users do not have local admin rights, only write access to their profile path and the C:/temp folder.
Any help and assitance would be appreciated.
Is there a directory that the users need access to on the C drive?

After Effects CS6 Not Starting?

I have hard drive issues, usually resulting in corruption or deletion of Windows dll's. Each time I run a chkdsk /f in my command prompt, it fixes the disk issues, but manages to delete a dll from one of my Adobe CS6 Production Premium Softwares. Last time, it was a dll from Premiere Pro. Now, it's from After Effects. It lost the boost_threads.dll file, which I replaced, but now the program will not start with error message 0xc000007b. Simply replacing the dll working in fixing Premiere Pro, but it won't do the same in AE...
Any ideas on what could be causing this and some fixes?

If it gives you a splash screen at all while it's starting, you should be able to see the version number.

That's the link to the update file for AE. You could try running it to see if it works.

Why not? People uninstall the whole suite and reinstall it all the time to fix issues such as the one you mention.

After Effects CS6 not working on yosemite

I upgraded my MAC OS from Mavericks to Yosemite and After Effects suddenly does not work. It says that the version cannot be used in the current OS X version. I have searched and did all the suggested solution available on the internet. I have reinstalled and installed after effects CS 6 and downloaded the updates (11.0.4). But it says that the update is not applicable for the product. What is odd though, the other CS6 programs are working properly other than After Effects. What should I do? any help??

Try fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications
Then try updating within another Adobe app.

After Effects will not run get a licensing error

Hello AE Helpers! Thanks to all for help in advance.
I've been using AE CS3 for a long time. Recently it will not start and I get the following:
"Licensing for this product has stopped working. You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help."
I contacted AE support, but am not getting help.
I can't uninstall the program - in Control Panel it only allows for reinstall/repair, not uninstall. Trying to repair with original install disk does not work.
This problem did happen a year or so ago. I was able to uninstall and reinstall, and that fixed it, but not this time.
Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it?
Is there another way to unistall AE so I can reinstall it?

Use the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall the program. Then uninstall it again, restart your system, and install again one last time. This convoluted process is required due to a bug in the licensing system.

After Effects CS6 Launches to Render Cue on OS X Yosemite after 11.04.2 update prior to this update it wouldn't even launch. Everything is grayed out as well. I am running a fully licensed version.

You're launching the render engine and not the full version of AE. Make sure you're selecting the right app to launch. And if you're super-sure that your shortcut or whatever you're clicking on is the one to launch the full version, make sure you don't have the render engine txt file somewhere you don't want it.
A blank file named ae_render_only_node.txt in one of the following locations (depending on the user account type) will result in AE launching the render engine only:
Mac OS: /Users/[username]/Documents/ /Users/Shared/Adobe/
Windows: C:Users/[username]/My Documents C:Users/Public/Public Documents/Adobe
Also, since this is immediately after updating Mac OSX, you're probably going to need to fix permissions: fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications

Thank you so much, Mr. Curtis! I'm not sure exactly how that worked, but it allowed me to get back on both AE and Premiere Pro. 10 points to you!
Also, for the other people that may have similar problems and are viewing this forum, definitely try this out. Listen to Jim's advice, don't use the most recent version (which is currectly 5.5.47) - instead try a slightly older one. The one I had installed was version 5.5.24.

Are RAW formats still recognized in After Effects CS6 since latest CameraRawUpdate?

Since the last update to AdobeCameraRaw, I can no longer import RAW still image file types into After Effects CS6. Results are the same on both computers.
In the Import Dialogue Box, CR2 and DNG file formats are greyed-out.
When attempting to click and drag a folder containing CR2 or DNG images into After Effects :
All files and folders containing these file types in previous After Effects projects have been rendered offline.
JPEGs, TIFFs and PSDs are supported and recognized and capable of being imported.
CR2 and DNG are not.
.MOV, .AVI and all other video formats that I have on hand to test remain stable.
CR2 in After Effects 11 was working just fine until the latest AdobeCameraRaw update.
Has anyone experienced similar problems?
Is there a solution?

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house. It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service. Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen. It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device. I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream. Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it. Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.

The composition I'm working with does have 1 camera, and about 45 small 3D comps built into it. No lights. And all of the footage and data is on the Mac OSX hard drive. Which has tons of space available as you can see. I've played around with the settings in After Effects. But nothing seems to significantly speed things up. Any ideas??

I've been using CS6 since it was released, and while it's got a bunch of great new features, it's basically made Multi Processing unusable unless we're talking about the simplest of comps.   I'm working on my second short using AE as the total animation package, and render times for complicated 3D comps (NOT using ray tracing) have tripled.   MP used to take forever to spool up, but was fast once it got rolling. Now, disabling MP gives me 3 or 4 times faster rendering, which is still MUCH slower than MP is CS5.5. SOmething has deflineitly changed for the worse, as i'm using the same machine with the same settings and virtually the same comps.
I acutally just yesterday had two animators quit on my because they couldn't meet their deadlines.
I think After Effects is the hydra of programs. They kill one feature and two more fill its place. Unfortuanly we traded functional Multi-processing for falloff lighting and etc... The puppet tool was it 3 version of after effects before it was stable. I'm hoping we don't have to wait til CS7 for MP to sort itself out.
I really don't understand the "deal with it" aspect of the posters here. Surely a functional program that delivers on it's promises is the goal of this forum. We're not asking it to make us a sandwich.

I installed it but it won't run because it says that it doesn't find Adobe Air when I do have it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both programs but I still have the problem!
