After Effects CS6 not working on yosemite

I upgraded my MAC OS from Mavericks to Yosemite and After Effects suddenly does not work. It says that the version cannot be used in the current OS X version. I have searched and did all the suggested solution available on the internet. I have reinstalled and installed after effects CS 6 and downloaded the updates (11.0.4). But it says that the update is not applicable for the product. What is odd though, the other CS6 programs are working properly other than After Effects. What should I do? any help??

Try fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications
Then try updating within another Adobe app.

did ae install without problem? check the install logs to be sure (Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC)
if it did, what do you see when clicking the executable?

Adobe After Effects CS6 not loading ExporterQuickTimeHost.pr and ImporterQuickTimeHost.pr.
We have tried disabling the windows firewall and turning off our Antivirus but it makes no difference.
The program launches with the quicktime plug-inns perfectly when ran as local administrator but will not work as any other user.
Other users do not have local admin rights, only write access to their profile path and the C:/temp folder.
Any help and assitance would be appreciated.
Is there a directory that the users need access to on the C drive?

After Effects CS6 not running on latest Yosemite 10.10

Cannot run After Effects CS6 on Yosemite 10.10. Says "you can't use this version of AE CS6 on this version of OS X."

11.0.4 works with newer Mac OS's. 11.0.2 does not.

Trouble installing After Effects cs6 on my new Yosemite system.

I then attempted to install all the software from my old computer. Installed Entire cs6 suite, after effects is greyed out.
When i tried to open, i received an error " You can’t use this version of the application “Adobe After Effects CS6” with this version of OS X. You have “Adobe After Effects CS6” 11.0. "
I then read online that there was fix by updating to After Effects to 11.4. Due to the fact that i cant open program to update from within i downloaded update and tried to install via the installer. I acts like it it will start even giving a timeline of how long it will take then closes and says update failed.
It then says you can look at error log, when i do it says " Adobe After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) update Update is not applicable. Error Code: U44M2P28 ".
Anyone knows how i can fix this issue and get after effects working? Thanks in advance

There have been a few people having problems getting updates and a few different solutions. It all depends on what's messed up on your machine.
It could be as simple as fixing permissions: fixing permissions problem that impedes start of Adobe applications
Somewhat advanced, but it worked for somebody: Unable to upgrade to 11.0.1 for AE CS6
You may have to defeat a daemon... Newly installed After Effects CS6 won't launch.
One solution for a different OS and AE version, but might solve it: Mavericks and AE 12.0/12.1/12.2

After Effects CS6 Not Starting?

I have hard drive issues, usually resulting in corruption or deletion of Windows dll's. Each time I run a chkdsk /f in my command prompt, it fixes the disk issues, but manages to delete a dll from one of my Adobe CS6 Production Premium Softwares. Last time, it was a dll from Premiere Pro. Now, it's from After Effects. It lost the boost_threads.dll file, which I replaced, but now the program will not start with error message 0xc000007b. Simply replacing the dll working in fixing Premiere Pro, but it won't do the same in AE...
Any ideas on what could be causing this and some fixes?

Windows 8.1, Fully Updated. After Effects CS6.

If it gives you a splash screen at all while it's starting, you should be able to see the version number.

That's the link to the update file for AE. You could try running it to see if it works.

Why not? People uninstall the whole suite and reinstall it all the time to fix issues such as the one you mention.

After Effects CS6 stopped working after Mavericks install

Is this a delete and re install or is there a way around this problem?

You have to run the update for AE. You may have to use the uninstaller and then re-install. I'm guessing that this started after you ran an update for your OS.
When you ask a question assume that we know nothing about your system or your history with that system. We can provide better help if we know if your system worked before, what changed, and anything else that pertains to your problem. Something as simple as an automatic update to your virus protection can kill another app.

After Effects lights not working

I am working in After Effects CC. I added a light to my scene and it just turns all of my 3d layers black. I am a very seasoned AE user. I have worked with lights before. I don't know what is going on here. It's not a draft mode issue. And my lights are not behind my layers or anything like that. I have found other people in the online forums with this problem from over the years but never a solution. Ambient light is the only light that works. Spot, pin, and parallel turn everything black. Thoughts?

Once the problem presented itself I started fresh with a new project and very simple comp and still had the same problem.
So my settings are pretty straightforward.
I am using After Effects CC (not the 2014 version)
I have one 3d solid that I pushed back in z-space. It is set to receive lights.
I am using Classic 3d.
I created a new spot light.
The settings are as follows:
Intensity: 100%
Color: white
cone angle 90
cone feather 0
falloff smooth
radius 75
Falloff distance 24
Casts Shadows on
Shadow Darkness 20%
Shadow Diffusion 0
If I turn my light off you see my solid. If I turn it on you see only blackness.
If I add a 2d layer you can see it. Once I make it 3d, it turns black.
Thanks for any advice you have. I'm guessing I probably need to do a clean install or something because this is crazy. It's not like I've never used lights before. They just up and stopped working.

How can I update After Effects CS6 to work with Mavericks?

I bought CS6 in September and now I have updated to Mavericks on my Mac. It says it won't run on Mavericks? Is there a new download? I don't want to move to Creative Cloud, I just want to keep my purchased version.

Why does after effects cs5 not open in yosemite?

i haven't used after effects in a year...but in that time i have installed Yosemite
is this the cause of the app to not open?

Now, I have heard of some folks getting CS5.5 (and maybe CS5) to run on Yosemite, but without further explanation from you on what sort of behavior you're experiencing, nobody could really help. .AVI files into after effects do not work? how do I fix?

When I record with my vivitar dvr 840xhd camera, and try to import the files into after effects. The files import into after effects just fine, except the little icon of the video is all grey. But when I put it into the comp and try to view it. The whole video is only a black screen. I try to watch it and find out that the audio works in it. but not the video. Throwing it into media encoder and trying to convert it only does the same thing, just a black screen with audio. But when I play the file on windows media player it works just fine. I have After effects CS5 and I run windows 7. Anyone have any good anwsers? Perferably one that does not reqire another program video converter to put it into the file type I. I tryed that before with many other video converters. I either loose quaility. If im filming in 60fps, it is reduced to 30fps. I can only convert so much in one clip. And most leave watermarks. I would much rather be able to import these .avi files into after effects without the wait and annoyance of a 3rd party program. Thanks for the help.

Probably not. AVI is just a generic container format and without any more info we will not be able to give you any proper answers. Even their website doesn't give any specifics. Use GSpot or MediaInfo to find out what CoDecs it is using exactly. Since the camera is based on Flash memory, though, I already get this ugly feeling it is using some atrocious non-standard MPEG4 derivative nad that would mean there is no chance at all to use it directly in AE...

Premeire CS4 and After Effects CS4 not working

If this isn't the place on the forum to post this please say so. Every thing was working until one day after effects started making my image sequences alot smaller than usual. I could find no help for this, so I restored my computer. After it got done restoring After Effects wasn't installed. I restored it to when it had been installed. This confused me so i tried to re-install it using the package that you download from the trials(I'm using the trial versions). It got to about 80% loaded(Not 80% installed, the installer was 80% open) it froze and wouldn't go any further. I had to use Ctrl Alt Delete to get it closed. I reinstalled the installer many times, but the same thing kept happening. After this happend I figured I could live without the After Effects Trial. Adobe Premiere worked perfectly untill I tried to export to a media file. When I do that it comes up with an error. When I click the error button a text file comes up with a bunch of numbers, also it says something like "This operation was canceled by the user". I didn't do anything to cancel it so I have no idea what's happening. If you need the text document posted please say so. Thanks for your help I can't figure out what's going on.

I'm trying to export to .avi, but the weird thing is was it was working before the whole thing with after effects.

Hi, sorry i didn't know where to put this question. I have an old after effects 4 for mac that doesn't install at all. is this not compatible with tiger? is there a way to get it to work?

Check the System Requirements of AE 4, I think it only runs on OS 9, and if you do not have Classic install on your G5 (note: Intel macs cannot run Classic anymore), when you insert the installer nothing will happens, or when click there'll be no response.
