After Effects Doesn't Like Photoshop!

Hi Everyone. I was using CS4, got upgraded to CS5, load the project, and voila! I get this error every-single-time:
The funny thing... is that I HAVE NO PHOTOSHOP FILES OPEN!! None in the Composition, the Project's Palette, NOWHERE!
Also, in the Info Palette, I get this:
Which is bizarre, since I have Multiprocessing turned OFF! So let me show you my settings in the Preferences:

Also, I downloaded and upgraded A.E. to the 10.0.1 patch.
Any sugestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

This has nothing to do with Photoshop. A "Photoshop file" is any image file that is handled via a specific loading routine. This can be a TIF, a JPEG or something else. The error message is just not very specific about it and you need to tell us these things yourself. I suggest you simply do a File --> Collect in CS4, using the log-only mode and then post the relevant sections here. On that same note, it may help if you use this procedure along with the consolidate and remove unused files options to clean your CS4 project of items that may not even be used anywhere. Who knows, you could get rid of the offending file already this way...

After Effects doesn't start (Vista)

Hello Community,
since yesterday my After Effects doesn't work anymore. I rendered a file and after some hours I stopped. I didn't shut my PC off, but I left for some hours. When I came back AE didn't start anymore. I just got the error message. It says that AE can't proceed anymore: an error occured while starting the application.
I googled a lot for a solution. I read a lot about the preferences. I tried to hit ctrl+alt+shift when I started AE with no success. I found the preferences file and deleted it, but I still got the error.
Today I reinstalled AE. But it didn't solve the problem. The were no error message anymore, just the standard windows error sound occured. After that I reinstalled all my Adobe applications, but Illustrator, Photoshop and especially AE still don't work. I have no problems with Bridge.
I also installed the 9.0.2 Update for AE, but after that just the the error message occured again when I start AE.
I don't know what else I can do?! I really need your help. Thanks

I installed it and I watched a tutorial, but my AE doesn't have the CC Cylinder addon/plugin! Why?
Can anyone help?

Are you on a Mac? Perhaps one more case of PPC vs. intel and the plugins not showing up due to the wrong versions being installed? Or some odd setting with Rosetta? Not sure, that stuff surprisingly always works for me even though I'm still not the most astude Mac user on the planet...

How can I bind danish letters to my shortcuts? After Effect doesn't seem to care what I put in my shortcuts txt file.

As stated.
I want to use the letters "æ" and "ø" to replace the brackets that the american keyboards use for trimming and cut at trim. It seems like such a nice feature.
I've tried putting in unicode with UX00E5 format and so forth like I'm supposed to, but it just doesn't seem to work.
How should I proceed, and what can I provide you folks with to help me with this?

It would be fine if at least After Effects would honor my new bindings, but it just doesnt work.
What could be common problems?

Phantom hairline showing up in shape, transfers to After Effects, doesn't move on art board

First time posting here so hope I'm following protocol. We're having an issue at my office with Illustrator (5.1) and After Effects. This just started happening this week.
For some reason, when a file is created in Illustrator and you zoom in extremely clost on a shape, a thinner-than-hairline line appears on it. This has showed up as both a vertical and horizontal. When you zoom in or out, the line disappears, but it also appears in After Effects. It doesn't seem to be part of the shape or a fragmented shape because if you move the shape, the line stay stationary.
Anyone seen anything like this? The video editor and I have NO idea and we've been trying to figure it out for a few days now. Also, the issue isn't in just one file; it has happened in two separate project files now.

This is an issue with current PDF libraries used by Adobe apps. For some reason content gets tiled, even if it doesn't actually require flattening. Same issue occurs when rasterizing the files in PS. Anyway, with regards to AE the sane advise would be to safe back to CS3 no matter what, because there are bugs in its handling of newer AI formats... This potentially also avoids your issue...

After Effects doesn't render!!!!

If I add my composition to the render queue and click render under the best settings, the RAM loads with 10 GB (I have 16) and the program hangs at the first frame....
Also it created an avi-clip (1sec. long) and there is nothing in it?!
Do you have any tipps or solutions?!

Right now, it seems that you think AE should work like many other multimedia applications. It doesn't. The link above is a good place to learn the After Effects basics. You can't do much in AE if you don't know the basics.

hi, it sounds like i have the same problem.
i'm running AE cs4 on windows 7 32bit (sp1). i have a lot of other software, but i'm not sure if you want everything or just what's running in the backround while i'm on AE. no other software is running while i run AE. i do have 3rd party effects. 3gb ram, intel core 2duo 1.5 GHz.
the problem is this. i highlight all the properties i wish to make an animation preset from, click save animation preset, set the save location to desktop (to ensure it isnt an administrative permission conflict), and click save. after that, no preset file is made.
i've never had a problem until now. and none of the above information about my computer has changed.
i believe the thing that could have done it is tampering with PresetEffects.xml file in support files. i made a custom effect with 6 slider controls and used script editor to apply it to a null. when i tried saving it as an animation preset, the above problem happened and i havent been able to fix it.
this was the first time i tampered with the presetEffects file. i made a backup of it before editing it at all. when i encountered the problem, i replaced the edited file with the backup..still not fixed (i resterted AE every time i made a change to the preseteffects file). i then reinstalled AE and made sure the PresetEffects file was back to it's original state. still no fix.
any ideas?

After Effects doesn't start due an unexpected Error.

I downloaded & installed After Effects through the Creative Cloud client in my macbook pro 15" (Retina), but the program doesn't start. There's always the same error message (sorry, it's German): "After Effects kann nicht fortgesetzt werden: Unerwarteter Fehler beim Starten der Anwendung", which means something like there's an unexpected error while starting. I deinstalled it, downloaded it again, always the same - its that a known problem and how can I solve this?

Kein Plan. Unerwartete Fehler sind eben genau das - unerwartet. Was sagt das Crash Log zu dem Thema (auf Report klicken, wen ndie entsprechende Warnung kommt) oder rausfischen: Working with your Operating System’s Tools?

After effects doesn't Go

good morning , i have a problem with after effects cs5.
i download the trial version and i installed it.
i know that AE cs5 run only on 64 bit operative system.
i have windows7 64 bit, but run only 32 bit CS5 programs.

But my problem is when i run AE cs5 and i get this error
How i can run this program?
i would buy it but if doesn't start i don't buy it.
HELP ME!!!!!
PS= I installed also the creative suite CS5 and the program x64 doesn't run the same. the problem is in 64 bit programs.

Impossible to tell. You will need to download Sysinternals Process Monitor, set it to filter on AfterFX.exe and then see which function calls it is unable to make. Sounds very much like your are missing some specific DLLs, but which ones is utetrly in the dark.

Make sure that you've updated to After Effects 9.0.2.
The error that I think that you're referring to was fixed in that update. Here is an old post about that error. But the important thing is to first make sure that you've updated to After Effects 9.0.2.

Just installed After Effects CC - now my Photoshop CC crashes on open

I just installed After Effects CC.
When I open Photoshop CC (has been installed for months working fine). It opens, but if I click anything on the interface, I get the spinning beach ball and it freezes.
I uninstalled After Effects CC using the Adobe Uninstaller in Utilities in Applications.
After uninstalling After Effects, Photoshop worked fine.
I re-installed After Effects, made sure it completed installation and ran all necessary updates.
Opened Photoshop - same problem - freezes on launch.
Please help! I need to complete this work today!

I have found a fix:
Go to this folder: User > Library > Preferences
Right click on the 'Adobe' folder and click 'Get info'
Click the lock in the bottom right to unlock this pane and enter your password
Under 'Sharing & Permissions', Give all users the "Read & Write" permission
Click on the cog at the bottom of this pane
Click Apply to enclosed items
Enter your password and voila! - Photoshop works as it should.
I hope this works for everyone else, too.

After Effects doesn't start.

doesn't start. nothing. just a *ding*. even if i run as administrator. ditto for my other adobe programs.
It has worked fine before! but after i downloaded a few stuff from videocopilot, it just stopped.
when i click it all it does is show my cursor loading, makes a sound, and doesn't start.
PLEASE help me if you can.
ps. dont ask me for screenshots. you can't possibly get screenshots in my situation.

You have a permissions issue most likely. Something is blocking access to the required external system components or the cache folders. Anyway, since you haven't told us what version of AE and some more detailed system info, nobody can say much beyond that.

Adobe after effects doesn't work

i don't know what happen but i have this problem like almost 3 months in only says a warning that adobe after effects is in crash and the square thing apears and it just frezes please help

I'm sorry to hear that. Would you be willing to sharte some more info? Go to your Start Menu, then choose Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Information. In the program, choose Save from the File menu. Post the file here on the forum or send it to me via mail (mylenium<|>at<|>mylenium<|>dot<|>de). in addition, it would help if you could provide the installer logs from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers. Maybe we can get to the bottom of this after all...

After effects doesn't quit

Hi,
I'm on windows 7 64bits, 24Mb RAM 2*2.5 Xeon. geforce GTX 470 latest drivers.
Everytime I want to qui after effect CS6 I have to kill every process myself in the task manager. It doesn't quit by itself. I use the multiprocessing of AE and I have to kill them one by one and kill also the dynamiclink.exe.I just reinstalled windows 7 on a new SSD drive and installed creative cloud applications. So It's a new system. I have another computer with same spec and I don't have this problem. The only difference between them is a blackmagic card. I already unistalled it but it is still the same. I did'nt find any answer on the forum. Apparently I am alone.
