After Effects error: Can't import file "Sweet CC Beta.jsx": unsupported filetype or extension.
Ok so here's the problem. I wanted to try the all new After Effects Sweets beta but when I try to open the file it just comes up with the error in the title. I am on a MacBookPro running Mavericks. Has anyone else had this problem?
You don't open a jsx file, you run it from the File>Scripts menu. Give that a try.

Hello so I was working with AE3 for 2 years and i had no problems with it but.. when i reinstall my windows and install AE3 with same installation file as always i was using.. and I got problem. When i try to import AVI or wmv or other video clips except mov format I getting this error "After Effects error: Can't import file "(FILE TITTLE)" unsupported filetype or extension".. i tried everything: 3 different installs of AE3 but nothing always same.. so decided this is windows problem so I installed new one with SP3 but i got same problem then I tried it on SP2 but still same problem.. So i installed windows7 and my AE3 was working but i didn't liked a windows 7 and i back on xp SP3 and guess what guys? yes! i got same error again on AE3. I don't know guys what to do. Can you help me?
I assume that you mean "After Effects CS3". After Effects 3 came out more than a decade ago.
Do you have QuickTime Player installed? After Effects requires QuickTime to be installed to import some file types.
Could you be explicit about exaclty what files you have tried to import? Even giving file names might help. For example, this error has been seen when the characters used in the file name were non-standard characters (e.g., this thread).
When you re-installed Windows, did you also re-install any codecs that you may have previously had on the system? -
After effects error: can't import file unsupported filetype...
When I try to import my files from my Canon EOS 550D into AE it gives me this error-essage: "after effects error: can't import file unsupported filetype..." I recently updated my quicktime and stuff, but what should that do? I could import the files before though.
See if anything here helps:

I am running into this issue with Adobe AE CC 2014 with both Mac and Windows versions in a classroom. Macs are running Mavericks, Windows are Win 7. Mac version of AE is 13.1.1.3. All CC 2014 apps are up to date. If I have a text layer selected and choose Animation > Browse presets… and then in Bridge double-click the effect preview to place that preset in AE, I get the above error. If I right-click the preset, the Place in After Effects option is greyed out - both Mac and Windows. However, I can apply the Preset from within AE using the Effects and Presets panel or using Animation > Apply Animation Preset just fine.
I have researched this issue and have found references going back to 2008 but without any actual solutions, only work-arounds. I have uninstalled Both AE and Bridge and reinstalled on both Mac and Windows and yet the problem remains. A fresh user account on the Mac has the same problem. I have trashed prefs and the Adobe Application support folder from the user library folder. The AE script is enabled in Bridge. Some systems have only ever had CC 2014, others have CC and CC 2014. On the dual install system, the double-click method in AE CC works as expected, but fails in CC 2014.
I hate to have my class leave without me showing them a solution. I'm hoping it's something simple that I'm missing, but so far the solution seems to have eluded everyone who has posted on the subject.
Any suggestions from those with hands-on experience with this issue will be greatly appreciated.
-T.Thanks for the reply. I'm surprised that the referenced thread did not show up in any of the many searches I did. It must be the way the site is indexed. I guess I was being too specific. I'll let my class know that it's a bug in the installer and that an update to fix the problem should be available soon.

After Effects error: Creating a resource file
Hi everyone
I'm administrating a machine with several users mainly using After Effects. The machine runs on Windows 7 64 bit.
I recently had to install videocopilots Optical Flares. Everything runs fine on my admin account but if i open AE on a user account i get an error message while on the loading screen. It says:
After Effects error: Creating a resource file "c:insert path to OpticalFlares.aex here" (might be a bit different in english as i translated this from german)
Every user has full read and write permission on the AE support files folder. Has anyone ever had such an error? All other plugins work as they should on every account.
Thanks for any hints!
MichaelI still think it is a permissions/ user privileges/ policies/ security issue - if it runs on one account, it is unlikely the plug-in is damaged or you installed the 32bit version in CS5 or vice versa. I strongly suspect the plug-in is unable to probe your graphics card and thus never initializes. Perhaps it's being blocked by some security tool or your user account doesn't have the permissions to load system drivers. The latter can be fixed by changing the respective entry in your group policy editor (gpedit.msc). The respective point would be in Computerkonfiguration --> Windows-Einstellungen --> Sicherheitseinstellungen --> Lokale Richtlinien --> Zuweisen von Benutzerrechetn --> Laden und Entfernen von Gerätetreibern. And of course temporarily turn off security stuff to verify it's not the problem.

This happens every time i try to import any kind of file. And I'm running the trial version of AE btw.
Now heres the things i have already tried.
1)Reinstalling After Effects repeatedly.
2)updating quick time
3)Deleting the pref file
4)removed any and all plug-ins
5)Deleted the OpenGL file
6)changed by screen resolution.
7)closed down anti-virus programs
8)Tried various ways of importing files, like drag and drop
9)tried importing different files.
10)Restarting my computer after attempting the all above^
I have also been to the general specialist website already thank you very much.
Edit: Now i have also tried uninstalling quick time and all of the video codec packs on my computer, this also didn't help (i did remember to restart afterwards)
Edit: Also, i started a new thread because nothing in any of the other threads on this same or similar errors was at all helpful to me.
edit3: i might also add that i have after effects 6.5 and it works just fine, though its much older. You can contact Adobe Technical Support for help with issues like this. I just can't render any type of Quicktime file in AE CC 2014. I'm on Windows 8.1.
Even in CS6 was it not possible, but I never really used any Quicktime filetypes.
Normally I just rendered to .h264, but now that's only available via the insane slow Adobe Media Encoder, I want to use the Quicktime -> h.264 option, but it's just not possible.
I also want to render some footage to the Avid DNxHD codec, but this is also not possible.
Doesn't matter what type of footage, dslr footage, pictures, AE solids. Everytime I want to render in a Quicktime file I get this error:
AE error: Rendering error while writing to file (File-Location). Unable to open file. (-1610153459)
Installed the latest Windows version of Quicktime, didn't help...
I saw some topics about this, but they didn't provide a good solution. All they discussed was the hardware of the computer. I have enough space available and render to a NTFS drive.
Please can someone help me with this!Yes! I just solved my own problem. I still think that the internet doesn't provide an easy to find answer, so I will post this.
I had the latest version of Quicktime, but this version causes the problem. After some searching I finally found a page on the Apple website that confirms this.
Updating to QuickTime 7.4 may cause issues while rendering footage in Adobe After Effects - Apple Support
So I uninstalled my latest version of Quicktime and installed version 7.4.1. Everything works now the way it's supposed to! -

I am trying to download the trial version of After Effects, and it goes through the whole download process fine. But as soon as I try to launch the application, I receive the message "After Effects warning: Could not rename the file '/Users/Rebekah/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/11.0/Workspaces.35974.1407352380644801.xml' to 'workspaces.xml'.
What is causing this and what should I do? I've already tried uninstalling the trial and reinstalling it.
Thanks!Having a similar problem as I try to use After Effects CC for the first time. "After Effects warning: Could not rename the file '/Users/timmyd/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/12.1/Workspaces.583.1407351854988961.xml' to 'Workspaces.xml'.
When I navigate to the 12.1 folder, I see ModifiedWorkspaces and OriginalUserWorkspaces folders but no "/Workspaces.583.1407351854988961.xml".
Then I attempted to open a project in AE CS6 (haven't use AE at all in months), I get a simliar message as the project is loading. "After Effect error: Can't overwrite file"/Users/timmyd/Library/Preferences/Adobe After Effects 11.0-x63 Prefs". ( 3 :: 3 )
When I click okay the project closes. -
After Effects Error "error cannot be imported this moov file is damaged or unsupported"
I'm working on a AE project and shut the project down before going to lunch. I come back and open it up and I get this error:
after effects error cannot be imported this moov file is damaged or unsupported
Nothing had changed in my project since earlier today. I've tried to import other .mov's and get the same error, I've also tried to relink the footage.
Any thoughts? We need to know a lot more if we're going to help you. Please provide answers to the questions listed here: "FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?"

After effects error: rendering error while writing to file. Disk full.
Hi,
I tried to render a video in AE CC 2014, with RGB + Alpha as I wanted to keep the background transparent (rotoscoped) so that I can then use it in Premiere.
I chose to export in Quicktime, with uncompressed 8bit.
After it rendered it for a little while I had a window pop-up saying
After effects error: rendering error while writing to file "E:...blabla". Disk full. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153463).
I read a thread posted in the forums but i do not understand the solution provided there.. What is a POD??
I have a Win7 Ultimate, x64. Plenty of disk space, and 16 Go ram.
Please help, I canoot go further in my project with this bug...
JaywaiiIs the drive you are rendering to formatted FAT32 by any chance? If so you can only render up to 4Gb for one file. Try rendering out a TIFF sequence instead. Litte tip - push the LZW compression tickbox in format options for a lossless compression, this will keep you file size way down.

Hi – I’m currently working with someone who is running After Effects 5.5v10.5.0.253 on a PC which is running Windows 7 Ultimate. The computer has just recently been built and the software is newly installed. (ie. a couple of weeks old, max). Up until now, we have been using After Effects with no real issues. But tonight, we started to see the following error message, when trying to render something out:
“After Effects Error: rendering error while writing to file xxxxx. Output Module failed, the file may be damaged or corrupted -1610153646” – displayed during render, which meant the render failed.”
We started to review forums to see if we could come up with a fix and tried a few of the more common suggested solutions, including:
Make sure there are no third-party plug-ins or Windows incompatible elements installed - as it’s a pretty new install, we haven’t added anything except out-of-the box elements.
Clear the render queue – did this, no change.
Reinstall Quicktime – did this, no change.
Reinstall Creative Suite – also no change.
Check the default program to open .mov files is Quicktime – Quicktime was already the default.
A bit more detail about the machine...
Ram is 32gb
GPU is GeForce GTX 660ti
250gb soild states
2tb raid drive
Any help would be much appreciated. This is now happening on all AE files, even files that worked fine earlier in the week. Other than the AE and QT reinstalls mentioned above, nothing new has been added to the machine this week. On a deadline – so a quick response would be amazing, right about now. Thanks.Hi Mylenium- thx for the quick response. We have have tried a bunch of different settings. AVIs work and we can do image sequences too. The only major problem seems to be with Quicktime files. While I appreciate your suggetion to convert with AME - this is only a workaround. Was really hoping for a solution that will fix the problem in After Effects? Heard rumor from a few friends in the biz, that this is a major bug... if possible, some feedback from Adobe product devs or someone with a technical background would be great! Thx.

After Effects CC crashing on importing PSD (ae.blitpipe error message)
Hi guys,
I hope you can help me, Adobe Support couldn't so far.
I recently installed After Effects CC on my MacBook Pro 13" (2012), 16GB RAM, Mountain Lion 10.8.4.
I cannot import PSD files into AE. Everytime I try, it crashes with the following message:
Zuletzt protokollierte Meldung: <140735306359168> <ae.blitpipe> <2> Making New Context
It doesn't matter, what kind of PSD file I try to import. But to be sure, I created a new PSD file, 1920x1080, 72 dpi, RGB, just with a background, no effects, flattened, just that single background layer. It won't import, AE always crashes.
I'm also running After Effects CS3 on that MacBook. Importing PSD files there works perfectly here.
I tried these troubleshooting procedures:
- trashing preferences
- uninstalling every single Adobe Product
- cleaning with the Creative Suite Cleaning Tool
- Reinstalling just After Effects CC (still wont import PSD files at this stage)
- Reinstalling Photoshop Elements 11, creating a new PSD file, still doesn't work.
I don't know what else to do right now. I want to avoid reinstalling the whole operating system because I'm working on projects at the moment (with Final Cut Pro X).
