After Effects error: Quicktime export failed - Out of memory (-108)

I am using CS3 After Effects and have been receiving this After Effects error: Quicktime export failed - Out of memory (-108).  Can anyone help with this issue?
I am using a Mac Pro 6-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz with 6 memory slots at 1GB DDR3 ECC at Speed 1333MHz.

Sounds like one of those many "old version of AE on new hardware" issues... You may need to fiddle with Rosetta or install it in teh first place, if you haven't already and you may also require a specific older version of Quicktime...

  • Quicktime export failed - out of memory

After I managed to open AVCHD (MTS) movies with AE CS4 I just tried to export a 2 min movie. I export as H264 1280x720.
I keep getting this error "quicktime export failed - out of memory"
It also happend when using SD movies
I have 2GB ram and a dual core inter E6550.
Does anyone encountered such problem ?

Are you rendering and exporting using the render queue, or are you using the Export command in the File menu? You should almost always use the render queue.
    See
"Rendering and exporting movies using QuickTime components" and
    "About rendering and exporting".

I'm hoping Adobe plans to at least recognize these cards one day soon so they don't show up unsupported.  If anything I would expect the newer adobe software to work better with newer cards than it should with 5 year old quadro cards.
I know a situation like this can be very frustrating, sorry about that.
Unfortunately, the newer Maxwell NVIDIA GPUs ship without the OptiX Library and acceleration of ray-traced 3D compositions is dependent on that. Therefore, acceleration of these comps will not ever be supported with those GPUs. You may want to reinstall that Quadro card if you plan on doing a lot of ray-traced 3D work.
The After Effects team does recommend that you move forward with Cinema 4D Lite, as that is what is being tested and supported currently and going into the future.

  • After Effects Error: rendering error while writing to file...Output Module failed - 1610153646

Hi – I’m currently working with someone who is running After Effects 5.5v10.5.0.253 on a PC which is running Windows 7 Ultimate. The computer has just recently been built and the software is newly installed. (ie. a couple of weeks old, max). Up until now, we have been using After Effects with no real issues. But tonight, we started to see the following error message, when trying to render something out:
“After Effects Error: rendering error while writing to file xxxxx. Output Module failed, the file may be damaged or corrupted -1610153646” – displayed during render, which meant the render failed.”
We started to review forums to see if we could come up with a fix and tried a few of the more common suggested solutions, including:
Make sure there are no third-party plug-ins or Windows incompatible elements installed - as it’s a pretty new install, we haven’t added anything except out-of-the box elements.
Clear the render queue – did this, no change.
Reinstall Quicktime – did this, no change.
Reinstall Creative Suite – also no change.
Check the default program to open .mov files is Quicktime – Quicktime was already the default.
A bit more detail about the machine...
    Ram is 32gb
    GPU is GeForce GTX 660ti
    250gb soild states
    2tb raid drive
Any help would be much appreciated. This is now happening on all AE files, even files that worked fine earlier in the week. Other than the AE and QT reinstalls mentioned above, nothing new has been added to the machine this week. On a deadline – so a quick response would be amazing, right about now. Thanks.

Hi Mylenium- thx for the quick response. We have have tried a bunch of different settings. AVIs work and we can do image sequences too. The only major problem seems to be with Quicktime files. While I appreciate your suggetion to convert with AME - this is only a workaround. Was really hoping for a solution that will fix the problem in After Effects? Heard rumor from a few friends in the biz, that this is a major bug... if possible, some feedback from Adobe product devs or someone with a technical background would be great! Thx.

  • Adobe After Effects CS5 & Quicktime ERRORS / crashing...

    Greetings,
I am having a lot of AE CS5 crashing (app just quits for no reason while scrubbing) and other weirdness...like today, and I am being told on the Adobe Boards that it 's Quicktime related. I am rendering a 3 minute piece in ProRes 4:2:2 (1280x720p) to my RAID (no special plug-ins or anything) and I get the following error at the very end of every render:
+After Effects Error: Rendering error while writing to file (insert my RAID path here). An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted (-1610153464)+
They are telling me the long number at the end indicates a Quicktime problem, which is unfortunately not so rare with 64bit AE due to how Apple does not really have a 64bit Quicktime and Adobe needs to work their way around some of that.
Is this true? Can I fix this on my own or is there a 64-Bit QT Pro coming with the new Final Cut Studio? Any input is gratefully appreciated...thanks.
    Joey

There are some suggestions regarding the error in these threads that may help:

  • After Effects Error: Keylight out of memory (4)

After Effects CS4 keeps crapping out on me, and won't allow me to render my projects. I keep getting the message, "After Effects Error: Keylight out of memory (4)"
I'm running a brand new IMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core I7 (which I understand gives me virtually 8 cores), and I have 8 GB of Ram.
I've tried with multi-frame processing enabled, and dissabled and the same thing. When I tried with the mulit-frame enabled I selected allow 4 CPU's Free and allow 6CPU's free, and still the same results. Any help would be greatly apprecicated.
    Thanks!

Since you run AE 9, it's probably your footage.  Okay, it's the most likely cause, at least.  Here's a copy 'n paste response I used to use a LOT  on the Creative COW:
    Dave's Stock Answer #1:
If the footage you imported into AE is  any  kind of the following -- footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, mts, m2t, H.261 or H.264 -- you need to convert it to a different codec.
These kinds of footage use temporal, or interframe compression. They have keyframes at regular intervals, containing complete frame information.  However, the frames in between do NOT have complete information.  Interframe codecs toss out duplicated information.
In order to maintain peak rendering efficiency, AE needs complete information for each and every frame. But because these kinds of footage contain only partial information, AE freaks out, resulting in a wide variety of problems.
I'm a Mac guy, so I like to convert to Quicktime movies in the Animation or PNG codecs; both are lossless.  I'll

  • After Effects Error with Quicktime 7

I upgraded to Quicktime 7 and now Adobe After Effects is causing audio errors. I cannot make a movie with audio without recieivng an error. I upgraded to Quicktime 7.02 pro, but no good.

Same Error with After Effects 6.5.1 and QuickTime 7.0.3
(On PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.3), 1024 MB RAM)
AFTER EFFECTS ERROR: Opening File "%s" . sound
    channel - Can't open QuickTime handler (-2004).
    (10§65)
Is there any alternate audio file format that might work - or does anyone think we need to reinstall an earlier version of QuickTime. According to Apple, QT6.5 is only compatible up to Panther - Mac OS X (10.3.9).
There is also a Reinstaller to revert back to QT 7.0.1, but I don't know if that version of QuickTime is compatible with After Effects 6.5.1.
Keep me posted. I'll keep trying.

  • After effects error: rendering error while writing to file. Disk full.

    Hi,
I tried to render a video in AE CC 2014, with RGB + Alpha as I wanted to keep the background transparent (rotoscoped) so that I can then use it in Premiere.
I chose to export in Quicktime, with uncompressed 8bit.
After it rendered it for a little while I had a window pop-up saying
After effects error: rendering error while writing to file "E:...blabla". Disk full. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153463).
I read a thread posted in the forums but i do not understand the solution provided there.. What is a POD??
I have a Win7 Ultimate, x64. Plenty of disk space, and 16 Go ram.
Please help, I canoot go further in my project with this bug...
    Jaywaii

Is the drive you are rendering to formatted FAT32 by any chance? If so you can only render up to 4Gb for one file. Try rendering out a TIFF sequence instead. Litte tip - push the LZW compression tickbox in format options for a lossless compression, this will keep you file size way down.

  • After Effects error: Can't import file "(FILE TITTLE)" unsupported filetype or extension

Hello so I was working with AE3 for 2 years and i had no problems with it but.. when i reinstall my windows and install AE3 with same installation file as always i was using.. and  I got problem. When i try to import AVI or wmv or other video clips except mov format I getting this error "After Effects error: Can't import file "(FILE TITTLE)" unsupported filetype or extension".. i tried everything: 3 different installs of AE3 but nothing always same.. so decided this is windows problem so I installed new one  with SP3 but i got same problem then I tried it on SP2 but still same problem.. So i installed windows7 and my AE3 was working but i didn't liked a windows 7 and i back on xp SP3 and guess what guys? yes! i got same error again on AE3. I don't know guys what to do. Can you help me?

I assume that you mean "After Effects CS3". After Effects 3 came out more than a decade ago.
Do you have QuickTime Player installed? After Effects requires QuickTime to be installed to import some file types.
Could you be explicit about exaclty what files you have tried to import? Even giving file names might help. For example, this error has been seen when the characters used in the file name were non-standard characters (e.g., this thread).
When you re-installed Windows, did you also re-install any codecs that you may have previously had on the system?

  • After Effects error when rendering

"After Effects error: Rendering error while writing file "file_name". An output module failed. The file maybe damaged or corrupted (-1610153464)"
file rendered successfully in draft and poor quality but this error is when best quality.
Tried saving into different location, rendered but the finished film kept stopping every 2 seconds and took 7GB of space. The film is meant to be 55 seconds long.

You are using the default Animation codec which is the default codec. You should really study up on rendering and formats. I'm guessing that your connection to the external drive had some data rate problems or started dropping bits. Try another cable or render to your boot drive. You've scaled your latest screenshots to the point where they are very difficult to read, but it looks like everything else is normal except that your top screenshot shows the only footage in the shot looks like it came from a GoPro and your composition frame rate in the Render Settings is showing up as 24. It's not likely that that is the actual frame rate of the footage. Select the footage in the composition in the Project Panel and check out the frame rate. If it is 59.94 then your comp should either be 29.97 or 59.94. Because of the size I suspect that the frame rate is not 24 but 23.976.
This probably did not cause your problem but frame rates are important to understand and use properly.

  • After Effects Error: Tracker_Register: Missing Suite ( 1 :: 0 )

    Product: AE CS4
    Version: 9.0
    OS: OS X 10.5.7
One day this error just sprung up on me, after having worked fine for quite a while. Strangely, I have scoured the internet and found no mention of this specific error. The error happens upon launching After Effects and after clicking OK, the application shuts down. It does not ever reach the user interface. The loading splash screen comes up and then the errors come up shortly after.
The two error messages come up one after the other and read in this order:
    "After Effects error: Tracker_Register: missing suite. ( 1 :: 0 )"
"After Effects can't continue: Failed to register built-in motion tracker."
I have attempted to reinstall After Effects entirely, even going as far as to wipe all the associated files that are left behind after an uninstall.
I will attempt to update AE and will report back the progress on that.
    UPDATE
    Updated AE to 9.0.2
There are now three errors, including the above two. The third error reads: "After Effects can't continue: unexpected failure during application startup"

Okay, let's do this one step at a time. Removing components without proper uninstall procedures can indeed be dangerous, but I don't think that's the issue here. If the program reports an entire suite missing (which is merely another way of saying that some pieces of its core code have gone anywhere but here), one of the system libraries is not initializing. This is extremely rare on Macs, so this is even more puzzling. As a first step, I would definitely run a tool like OnyX or Apple's own Repair Permissions and disk health utility to check disk integrity. The thing is, the exact spot on the drive could be damaged and it's in the nature of OSX to not waste space, so it will always try to place files in the same physical spot, if they have the same name and similar properties to the predecessor and that region may actualyl have problems. Therefore updating AE might not solve the matter. Second, check the language settings on the files in your AE directory using right-click - Information. This also works with multiple files selected. If they have different settings, you will get a warning and may need to select them separately. On the info panel, have a look at the language options. If the language in which you run AE is not enabled or you have multiple instances of the same language checked (OSX again stores this per file redundantly), disable/ enable the check marks until everything seems right. While you are on the panel, also have a look at the compatibility infdo (it should refer to intel compatibility) and of course the user permission settings. All users must be at least able to read the files. From inside AE, check, whether you are using the "accelerate panels" option in the prefs. Since tracking is a layer window feature, it may cause issues, if there is something not right with your graphics card settings. Speaking of which, check your monitor settings if everything is right. As a last thing, definitely check your Quicktime install. I'm not aware of any definite problems, but QT is always a good candidate for causing issues of any kind.

  • What "Components" of After Effects require QuickTime?

I get the message "quicktime is not installed on this system some components will not work correctly" whenever I startup After Effects.  It is true that I do not have QuickTime installed on this system, but I do have several questions.  (This isn't any type of error, I just want to know what QuickTime does):
What "Components" of After Effects require QuickTime?
What version of QuickTime do you recommend that I should install for the best performance?  I've heard that there are a bunch of different kinds and I don't know what Adobe After Effects uses specifically.

After Effects uses QuickTime for importing and exporting several kinds of QuickTime movies (.mov files).
Install the most recent version of QuickTime 7.

  • After Effects Error message @ Startup, NEW Macbook NEED HELP

So I'm working with a Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2012, I just bought it,
Processor  2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.2
Installed the most up to date CUDA Mac Driver: CUDA 5.0.37 driver for MAC
After Effects was running fine -no errors at startup - when I didn't have the GPU CUDA enabled.
I found out that the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB, is CUDA Enabled
So, I installed the CUDA 5.0.37 driver for MAC
I opened Terminal and ran a GPUSniffer to get the name of the Graphics card
I opened another window in terminal and ran a "sudo nano" command that listed the default supported Cards, I pasted my card name.
NOW I can choose GPU instead of CPU for Ray-tracing, WHICH IS GOOD, Its what I was trying to do. BUT something is still wrong because I keep getting an error message at startup: "After Effects error: Ray-traced 3D: Initial shader compile failed. (5070 :: 0)"
I DIDNT GET THIS ERROR BEFORE I INSTALLED & ENABLED "CUDA GPU"..............What is wrong?

Don't manually manipulate that text file. That is unsupported, and you are on your own if you do so.
What you should have done is to install the 11.0.2 update to add the GPU acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer for your 650M:
