After Effects Error with Quicktime 7
I upgraded to Quicktime 7 and now Adobe After Effects is causing audio errors. I cannot make a movie with audio without recieivng an error. I upgraded to Quicktime 7.02 pro, but no good.
Same Error with After Effects 6.5.1 and QuickTime 7.0.3
(On PowerBook G4, Mac OS X (10.4.3), 1024 MB RAM)
AFTER EFFECTS ERROR: Opening File "%s" . sound
channel - Can't open QuickTime handler (-2004).
(10§65)
Is there any alternate audio file format that might work - or does anyone think we need to reinstall an earlier version of QuickTime. According to Apple, QT6.5 is only compatible up to Panther - Mac OS X (10.3.9).
There is also a Reinstaller to revert back to QT 7.0.1, but I don't know if that version of QuickTime is compatible with After Effects 6.5.1.
Keep me posted. I'll keep trying.

After Effect errors with GeForce GTX 860M !!
Hello everybody,
I have tried the trial version of After Effect on my brand new laptop MSI GE70-2PE048FR with Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M CUDA v6 - Mobile QuadCore Intel Core i7-4700HQ, 3300 MHz (33 x 100) and Im getting errors while trying to render a test composition using the GPU... First the GPU was not recognized so I modified a file in After Effect diretory and then it get recognized. Even before that, I tried to force the use of the GPU (with checking the special checkbox to force it in the GPU INFO PANEL of After Effect CC) and it was getting the sames errors anyways !
I have been using and testing MSI factory NVidia drivers v332.35 that are not even available on NVidia web site and I have been teting with NVidia BETA drivers v337.50. Got same results.
My configuration :
Thanks for any advice.
I would like to know if after effect is planning to support this GPU ? When ? Or anyone have any clue resoving these errors ?

After Effects error: Quicktime export failed - Out of memory (-108)
I am using CS3 After Effects and have been receiving this After Effects error: Quicktime export failed - Out of memory (-108). Can anyone help with this issue?
I am using a Mac Pro 6-Core Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz with 6 memory slots at 1GB DDR3 ECC at Speed 1333MHz.Sounds like one of those many "old version of AE on new hardware" issues... You may need to fiddle with Rosetta or install it in teh first place, if you haven't already and you may also require a specific older version of Quicktime...

After effects error: rendering error while writing to file. Disk full.
Hi,
I tried to render a video in AE CC 2014, with RGB + Alpha as I wanted to keep the background transparent (rotoscoped) so that I can then use it in Premiere.
I chose to export in Quicktime, with uncompressed 8bit.
After it rendered it for a little while I had a window pop-up saying
After effects error: rendering error while writing to file "E:...blabla". Disk full. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153463).
I read a thread posted in the forums but i do not understand the solution provided there.. What is a POD??
I have a Win7 Ultimate, x64. Plenty of disk space, and 16 Go ram.
Please help, I canoot go further in my project with this bug...
JaywaiiIs the drive you are rendering to formatted FAT32 by any chance? If so you can only render up to 4Gb for one file. Try rendering out a TIFF sequence instead. Litte tip - push the LZW compression tickbox in format options for a lossless compression, this will keep you file size way down.

Hi – I’m currently working with someone who is running After Effects 5.5v10.5.0.253 on a PC which is running Windows 7 Ultimate. The computer has just recently been built and the software is newly installed. (ie. a couple of weeks old, max). Up until now, we have been using After Effects with no real issues. But tonight, we started to see the following error message, when trying to render something out:
“After Effects Error: rendering error while writing to file xxxxx. Output Module failed, the file may be damaged or corrupted -1610153646” – displayed during render, which meant the render failed.”
We started to review forums to see if we could come up with a fix and tried a few of the more common suggested solutions, including:
Make sure there are no third-party plug-ins or Windows incompatible elements installed - as it’s a pretty new install, we haven’t added anything except out-of-the box elements.
Clear the render queue – did this, no change.
Reinstall Quicktime – did this, no change.
Reinstall Creative Suite – also no change.
Check the default program to open .mov files is Quicktime – Quicktime was already the default.
A bit more detail about the machine...
Ram is 32gb
GPU is GeForce GTX 660ti
250gb soild states
2tb raid drive
Any help would be much appreciated. This is now happening on all AE files, even files that worked fine earlier in the week. Other than the AE and QT reinstalls mentioned above, nothing new has been added to the machine this week. On a deadline – so a quick response would be amazing, right about now. Thanks.Hi Mylenium- thx for the quick response. We have have tried a bunch of different settings. AVIs work and we can do image sequences too. The only major problem seems to be with Quicktime files. While I appreciate your suggetion to convert with AME - this is only a workaround. Was really hoping for a solution that will fix the problem in After Effects? Heard rumor from a few friends in the biz, that this is a major bug... if possible, some feedback from Adobe product devs or someone with a technical background would be great! Thx.

After Effects error opening sound componant (-2166)
Hi
Im getting this error message( After Effects error-opening sound componant (-2166 )
When i go to render a comp that icludes several sound files (WAV) the render stops 80% of the time.is there a way to fix this.
Im rendering to Quicktime based on losssles or AVI based on lossless
Windows XP service pack 3
3 gigs ram
quad core
Quicktime pro latest version installed november 2009This could happen for any of several reasons, including the sound files using sample rates or a number of channels that After Effects can't handle. After Effects is not the best at working with audio. I recommend converting the audio files to another format (such as AIFF), ensuring that the sample rate is something standard, making sure that the files are just plain old stereo, and trying again.

Hello so I was working with AE3 for 2 years and i had no problems with it but.. when i reinstall my windows and install AE3 with same installation file as always i was using.. and I got problem. When i try to import AVI or wmv or other video clips except mov format I getting this error "After Effects error: Can't import file "(FILE TITTLE)" unsupported filetype or extension".. i tried everything: 3 different installs of AE3 but nothing always same.. so decided this is windows problem so I installed new one with SP3 but i got same problem then I tried it on SP2 but still same problem.. So i installed windows7 and my AE3 was working but i didn't liked a windows 7 and i back on xp SP3 and guess what guys? yes! i got same error again on AE3. I don't know guys what to do. Can you help me?
I assume that you mean "After Effects CS3". After Effects 3 came out more than a decade ago.
Do you have QuickTime Player installed? After Effects requires QuickTime to be installed to import some file types.
Could you be explicit about exaclty what files you have tried to import? Even giving file names might help. For example, this error has been seen when the characters used in the file name were non-standard characters (e.g., this thread).
When you re-installed Windows, did you also re-install any codecs that you may have previously had on the system? -
After Effects Error: Keylight out of memory (4)
After Effects CS4 keeps crapping out on me, and won't allow me to render my projects. I keep getting the message, "After Effects Error: Keylight out of memory (4)"
I'm running a brand new IMac 3.4 GHz Intel Core I7 (which I understand gives me virtually 8 cores), and I have 8 GB of Ram.
I've tried with multi-frame processing enabled, and dissabled and the same thing. When I tried with the mulit-frame enabled I selected allow 4 CPU's Free and allow 6CPU's free, and still the same results. Any help would be greatly apprecicated.
Thanks!Since you run AE 9, it's probably your footage. Okay, it's the most likely cause, at least. Here's a copy 'n paste response I used to use a LOT on the Creative COW:
Dave's Stock Answer #1:
If the footage you imported into AE is any kind of the following -- footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, mts, m2t, H.261 or H.264 -- you need to convert it to a different codec.
These kinds of footage use temporal, or interframe compression. They have keyframes at regular intervals, containing complete frame information. However, the frames in between do NOT have complete information. Interframe codecs toss out duplicated information.
In order to maintain peak rendering efficiency, AE needs complete information for each and every frame. But because these kinds of footage contain only partial information, AE freaks out, resulting in a wide variety of problems.
I'm a Mac guy, so I like to convert to Quicktime movies in the Animation or PNG codecs; both are lossless. I'll -

This error occurs suddendly - i have no idea why, so i reinstalled my PC (Vista) and it worked one time and then same error appeared again.

One day this error just sprung up on me, after having worked fine for quite a while. Strangely, I have scoured the internet and found no mention of this specific error. The error happens upon launching After Effects and after clicking OK, the application shuts down. It does not ever reach the user interface. The loading splash screen comes up and then the errors come up shortly after.
The two error messages come up one after the other and read in this order:
"After Effects error: Tracker_Register: missing suite. ( 1 :: 0 )"
"After Effects can't continue: Failed to register built-in motion tracker."
I have attempted to reinstall After Effects entirely, even going as far as to wipe all the associated files that are left behind after an uninstall.
I will attempt to update AE and will report back the progress on that.
UPDATE
Updated AE to 9.0.2
There are now three errors, including the above two. The third error reads: "After Effects can't continue: unexpected failure during application startup"Okay, let's do this one step at a time. Removing components without proper uninstall procedures can indeed be dangerous, but I don't think that's the issue here. If the program reports an entire suite missing (which is merely another way of saying that some pieces of its core code have gone anywhere but here), one of the system libraries is not initializing. This is extremely rare on Macs, so this is even more puzzling. As a first step, I would definitely run a tool like OnyX or Apple's own Repair Permissions and disk health utility to check disk integrity. The thing is, the exact spot on the drive could be damaged and it's in the nature of OSX to not waste space, so it will always try to place files in the same physical spot, if they have the same name and similar properties to the predecessor and that region may actualyl have problems. Therefore updating AE might not solve the matter. Second, check the language settings on the files in your AE directory using right-click - Information. This also works with multiple files selected. If they have different settings, you will get a warning and may need to select them separately. On the info panel, have a look at the language options. If the language in which you run AE is not enabled or you have multiple instances of the same language checked (OSX again stores this per file redundantly), disable/ enable the check marks until everything seems right. While you are on the panel, also have a look at the compatibility infdo (it should refer to intel compatibility) and of course the user permission settings. All users must be at least able to read the files. From inside AE, check, whether you are using the "accelerate panels" option in the prefs. Since tracking is a layer window feature, it may cause issues, if there is something not right with your graphics card settings. Speaking of which, check your monitor settings if everything is right. As a last thing, definitely check your Quicktime install. I'm not aware of any definite problems, but QT is always a good candidate for causing issues of any kind.

I am editing footage from a Nikon D7000 in Premiere. I select all and replace with after effects composition. Aftere effects opens and gives this error message. I am on a windows based machine.
Thanks for you responses. This is a short sequence with about 20 clips. I have in the past used this workflow successfully on short sequences. I like to assemble in pp and then apply colour correction/colour grading, and some sharpening in after effects. This problem has occured since I went from AE 5.5 to AE creative cloud. It was my intention to contrast and colour correct each individual clip as needed, then using an adjustment layer over the entire sequence to apply a colour grading. As an enthusiastic beginner, If there is a better way to accomplish this Id love to hear it.

When I try to import my files from my Canon EOS 550D into AE it gives me this error-essage: "after effects error: can't import file unsupported filetype..." I recently updated my quicktime and stuff, but what should that do? I could import the files before though.

Hi all,
I'm new to after effects. I have just started receiving the following error every time I try to render my movie:
"After Effects error: opening movie - you do not have permission to open this file (-54)".
Yesterday morning, I was able to render movies, however, after I did Apple's latest update I've started receiving the following error. What is happening is that I'm trying to render a movie. It gets to a certain point in the movie (about 0;00;16;09) and then this error pops up. This morning I've tried to repair the permissions with disk utility, but that doesn't seem to have helped.
I've searched Google and the Adobe support forums with no luck. Please help.
Thanks in advance for you help,
WilliamHave been able to downgrade to QT 7.3 using Pacifist. Did NOT require re-install of OS.

Now that I am back to QT7.3, iTunes7.6 is now asking me to update QT to 7.4 in order to be able to view the new movie rental feature of the iTunes store... which sorta sheds some light on the no permission error. Now that iTunes is renting, not just selling, movies, QT is now all fussy about ownership and permissions. Just a guess. -
So, about a week ago I did a fresh install of 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate on a new PC, and subscribed to the Adobe Creative Cloud, installing After Effects CS6 and Photoshop CS6 from the Adobe Application Manager, then doing all updates (and I just checked right now at 10:35PM on July 26th, I have the latest versions of everything).
After Effects was working completely normal, then just now, I tried to import a Photoshop .psd and I got the error message:
After Effects error: Not enough memory to initialize PSL.
( 83 :: 8 )
Then After Effects crashed. So now it opens up normally, but when I try to import a .psd or open an After Effects project saved from an earlier version of After Effects (CS3 to CS5) I get the same error and a crash, every single time.
Searching the forums, I see people talking about this error when importing .psds into CS5, and they say that getting the latest updates solved the issue for them (which obviously can't help me). I'm running all legit software on a brand new computer with 32 GB of RAM which has passed all my physical stress tests so I know it's not hardware related.
The one thing I saw people suggest is to hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift when starting the program. When I do this, Windows asks if I want to allow After Effects to make changes to the system, and when I say yes, I can import .psds and open the older AE files. When I close After Effects and reopen it without holding down the Ctrl-Alt-Shift keys, it goes right back to crashing.
Obviously the smart-*** answer is "then hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift, dummy", and I'll do that for now, but is there any clue what the problem is?
I feel like kind of a chump because I decided to stop using my student versions of Adobe software (I haven't been a student for about four years) and pay the full price for the cloud membership and the latest creative suite, and it's full of bugs. Now, I get the same ( 83 :: 8 ) error listed above, followed by a new dialog window that reads:
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <4488> <DynamicLink> <5> C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS6\Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
Then, when I click OK, I get:
After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. For After Effects Help and Support, go to http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_ae_support. If you still can't resolve the issue, please contact Adobe Technical Support (2).
( 0 :: 42 )
Clicking OK to that gives me a chance to save the latest project, then the standard Windows 7 crash dialog window opens, the one that gives me the choice of "Check online for a solution and close the program" or just "Close the program" and lets me View problem details, which are:

My name is Tyler and i'm a Mult-Media Editor in training. Just recently meaning just this project i've been getting this error "After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in “Looks”." every time i try to render. If i try to remove the clip where it messes up and replace it with another it will just mess up in another spot.

I've read other forums and watched tutorials. I've already done the following. (Not in order used)
1. Downgrade Magic Bullet Looks from 1.4.3 to 1.4.2 (Didn't Work)
2. Upgrade Magic Bullet Looks to MBL 2.0 from Magic Bullet Suite 11 (Didn't Work)
3. Uninstall my gfx card and re-install it with the newer version (Didn't Work)
4. Reset AE preferences by pressing alt+shift+ctrl on the shortcut (Didn't Work)

I've never had this problem before and hope that someone has a solution to this problem... if so please post an answer. I don't know if its because i put the plug in on all of my clips and then made an adjustment layer with another Magic Bullet Looks or if it's my clips fault but i just dont know what to do.
-TylerIt sounds like Looks is only crashing on this project. If that is so then it's most likely a problem with one of your video clips. Either there's a corrupted frame or some other codec glitch that's throwing the errors. I'd suggest replacing footage items with temporary footage. You could even use solids. Replace one at a time, then undo, until you find the footage that's causing the crash. Then either re-compress that footage to another codec or replace it.
If Looks is crashing on every type of footage then you need to pursue other options that are more system related.
