After Effects FFX File Presets and Image thumbnails

This is a sample piece of code from an effects preset for a text ffx for After effects. The "<xapGImg:image>/" from below is referring to a local url. but it seems to be encrypted or something. Is there a way to make image thumbnails for my ffx files so that the thumbnail can be viewed in bridge. Been looking for the answer but nothing.<br /><br />thanks for helping<br /><br /><?xpacket begin="" id="W5M0MpCehiHzreSzNTczkc9d"?><br /><x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" x:xmptk="3.1.1-112"><br />   <rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"><br />      <rdf:Description rdf:about=""<br />            xmlns:xap="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/"<br />            xmlns:xapGImg="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/g/img/"><br />         <xap:CreatorTool>After Effects 7.0</xap:CreatorTool><br />         <xap:Thumbnails><br />            <rdf:Alt><br />               <rdf:li rdf:parseType="Resource"><br />                  <xapGImg:height>162</xapGImg:height><br />                  <xapGImg:width>216</xapGImg:width><br />                  <xapGImg:format>JPEG</xapGImg:format><br />                  <xapGImg:image>/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAgEASABIAAD/7gAOQWRvYmUAZMAAAAAB/9sAhAAKBwcHCAcKCAgKDwoICg 8S&#xA;DQoKDRIUEBASEBAUFA8RERERDxQUFxgaGBcUHx8hIR8fLSwsLC0yMjIyMjIyMjIyAQsKCgsMCw4M&#xA;DA 4SDg4OEhQODg4OFBgRERIRERggFxQUFBQXIBweGhoaHhwiIiAgIiIrKykrKzIyMjIyMjIyMjL/&#xA;wAARCACiANg DASIAAhEBAxEB/8QBogAAAAcBAQEBAQAAAAAAAAAABAUDAgYBAAcICQoLAQACAgMB&#xA;AQEBAQAAAAAAAAABAAID BAUGBwgJCgsQAAIBAwMCBAIGBwMEAgYCcwECAxEEAAUhEjFBUQYTYSJx&#xA;gRQykaEHFbFCI8FS0eEzFmLwJHKC8 SVDNFOSorJjc8I1RCeTo7M2F1RkdMPS4ggmgwkKGBmElEVG&#xA;pLRW01UoGvLj88TU5PRldYWVpbXF1eX1ZnaGlq a2xtbm9jdHV2d3h5ent8fX5/c4SFhoeIiYqLjI&#xA;2Oj4KTlJWWl5iZmpucnZ6fkqOkpaanqKmqq6ytrq+hEAAgI BAgMFBQQFBgQIAwNtAQACEQMEIRIx&#xA;QQVRE2EiBnGBkTKhsfAUwdHhI0IVUmJy8TMkNEOCFpJTJaJjssIHc9I1 4kSDF1STCAkKGBkmNkUa&#xA;J2R0VTfyo7PDKCnT4/OElKS0xNTk9GV1hZWltcXV5fVGVmZ2hpamtsbW5vZHV2d3h 5ent8fX5/c4&#xA;SFhoeIiYqLjI2Oj4OUlZaXmJmam5ydnp+So6SlpqeoqaqrrK2ur6/9oADAMBAAIRAxEAPwDjOb Nm&#xA;xV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2b&#xA;Nm xV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV&#xA;2bNmxV2bNmx V2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNm&#xA;xV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV 2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2b&#xA;NmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2bNmxV2 bNmxVmX5Z+TbPzZrE9rfPIlrbwmVmhIVq8gqirK3jhr5t8s&#xA;flppelXb6Vq0tzq0JCR2xlRvi5cWqFjHT55JPy IsCmk6zqPIRtI628UrdFKKXav/AAa5FNb/ACyn&#xA;ttf0zTYNTivrjV5ZCxiWnpIhVndvib+bFXn+bPQGjWXk7Sv NUHkvT9GgvZo4Wl1LUblVkdSE5ADm&#xA;rddq0oBXI9a+TNI8yfmTrBa3S30DSConhgURo7gUCDhSgPEs1P44qxT8 rPKlj5m8wS22pIzWMFu0&#xA;rhTxJbkqIK/Scj3mW3sbXX9QttPUrZwTvFCpPI0Q8evzGd98n+YdBu7DXL7SdJg07 T9M5QpcxKqt&#xA;MkaFyzcVG3fqchHkvy7pVn5cu/PWv2R1OeV2axsCvMOzPxHwUIYsx7g0HbFXk2SDyN5eh8x+Zb TS&#xA;rguttLyadoyAwRVJ2JB70ydfmzpGkDy5pGuRaamj6ndECWzRVQ0K8irKoUVXxpXA35D2HreYb2+I&#xA;2t rfip95Gp/DFUtl8i6RJ+Zg8qWkkx0+MqLiRmUyf3YkejBabVA6YRefdD03QPM91pGmvJJb2qxh&#xA;mlIZubosjbq q9OWdB/LD/cz+ZGv64fiRWnaJvaWTig/4DFfINlpnmHzZ5t1vU7eG6s1kYIZ41lVA&#xA;zsVYBwRUJHirxfNnd9Os vJXmTyPrX6O0iO1hsHmiiuGVTMzRosqzeoBy35dK5xXRtKudY1S10y2F&#xA;ZrqRY1PYVO5PyxVBZs75pmneUNA8z ad5Ms9Ih1G/mjMuo39yquUCo0mwdW3anQUHTAGn6Jomo/nD&#xA;fWyafbfo3TrUmS29JPRMtFj3j48a1evTFXiWbP RPly18jarqmv6PZ6HB6Nm3Ge7dEYO78ldYxx/d&#xA;hKbccgn5eeTdDnXVfM2tL6uh6Y0n1eJt1k9Orcm/moKbdzi qG/KzyZo3mC31S+1pHa1slXjwbhQ0&#xA;LsfuGc8l4eq/AcU5HiOtBXYZ6B/xHZXH5YavrdlpkOkxzpLDFDCFHJSf RVzwRN/iOefMVdmzZsVd&#xA;mzZsVdmzZsVdmzZsVdmzZsVez2X+4T8jJJfsS6jzY+NZpfTU/wDAIMjH5KPbr52i9 YgOYJRDX+Yj&#xA;oPorkIk1PUZbVbOW6le0SnCBnYxinSik02xGGaaCVZoHaKVDVJEJVgR3BGKvovyz5Ym0nzr5g1 vU&#xA;Zo2ub0O9jCrcn+rcwzyMP2d+Kj6cJvyykOq6P5thgkUandXUxBJoQsicYifbkDnGDrutG4kujf3H&#xA;1m VeEk3qvzZR+yzVqRiNpqF/ZTGezuZbecggyROyMQeu6kYq9qbSZPJ35Q6vbzSo99NyiufSbkqv&#xA;O6QFOXiqtvh t5ZvtZuvyz08+UXt21S3URSRz7gcS3NfANuCK7ZwB9T1GS2a1e6la2ZubQl2KFieX&#xA;IrWla5djqup6cWawu5rU vsxhkaOo9+JGKsk/MUeck1SBPNlwJrto+cMcZHBFJpQKiqoPyya/kU8E&#xA;llrlkkojv5Qpir1C8WXlT2Y5yG5u7 q7lM11M88x6ySMWY/S2VBcT20olt5GilX7LoSrD6Rir3HRN&#xA;If8ALP

The XMP packet looks OK--the thumbnail is base64 encoded as it should be.
You'll have a better chance of a response if you post your question on the After Effects forum--readers there are more likely to be familiar with After Effects and Bridge.
Don't post the XMP packet text--just that you can't see After Effects thumbnails in Bridge.

  • Re-Linking After Effects CS5 files

I moved an After Effects project file and now it is not linked with several of the files within the project.  I tried using the "create proxy" "replace proxy" and "replace footage" but in all cases, the file is imported with the name of the file on the stage and appears to be unusable.  What is the proper way to re-link files so that they actually work.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply.  No I did not know about that command (collect files).  For sure from now on, I will manually put all files in the folder with the project just to be safe.  It's too late to run it now, I have everything moved.

  • After Effects--Composition not using entire image frame??

    Hello,
I'm very new to After Effects so I'm sorry if this is a very simple question. I've Googled it and I think maybe I'm using incorrect terminology because I haven't found anything that describes what is happening. So, I've taken a screen shot to hopefully help illustrate my issue.
I'm using After Effects CC - 2014.1 Release on a Late 2013 Mac Pro. Trying to piece together an animation render from Autodesk Maya.
Right now I'm using a test render so that I can figure out the import settings for when the final one is finished rendering. In this test there are 94 images, each intended to be one "frame" in a 24 frames per second animation. I think I have altered these settings correctly as it seems to be about the correct length (94 "frames" / 24 fps = 3.9167 or 3:55 seconds)
The problem I'm running into is that After Effects is only showing a small viewport of the actual images. I've outlined in the bright green dashed line the approximate actual image size and where in the image it is showing in After Effects. All of the images are the same size and same resolution, and they are all being shown only in this small window.
How can I change the settings to have the final animation show the entirety of the frame? Obviously it's showing such a small area that it won't work for me-- I really need all of that missing information shown.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

What size movie does Maya expect? If it's conventional HD, 1920x1080, you must scale your images to fit the comp size. If you need a comp that is 4k you must change the properties of the comp. they are both easy to do but require a bit experience with the AE interface. Start at the beginning of the basic tutorials that we refer to around here.
and welcome to the family. AE is hard. Really hard.

  • Updated document about QuickTime errors with After Effects (re: H.264 and hyperthreading)

I just updated "troubleshooting QuickTime errors with After Effects CS5, CS5.5, and CS6" with information about hyperthreading and Apple's H.264 encoder.
The gist is that Apple's H.264 exporter component for QuickTime fails when the computer has a large number of CPUs.

No, this applies to any QuickTime H.264 export. You can export H.264 in a QuickTime .mov wrapper out of AME, too, and it will have this problem.
The various H.264 encoding presets (for YouTube, Blu-ray, Vimeo, iPad, etc.) don't use the H.264 QuickTime component, so this isn't relevant to them.
This problem is just relevant to choosing Apple's H.264 as the video codec when choosing QuickTime as a format. This applies to all software that uses QuickTime, by the way, not just Adobe software.

i have the same problem with this: After Effects error: file 'file name.mov' cannot be imported - this 'MooV file is damaged or unsupported.
But really dont know much of after effects so the first thing what are third-party components?

Begin by giving us more information. Please provide answers to the questions listed here: "FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?"
Be sure to tell us where the .mov file came from and what codec it uses.

  • After Effects project file size max?

    Hey guys,
Anyone know if there's a critical mass with an after effects project file?  For example, I have a 6 minute film I'm working on with hundreds of precomps.  Is there a time where there's too much going on in the project file?  I'm versioning like crazy, but I was just wondering.

Not that I'm aware of. I think the largest one I've ever made was around 98mb. At that point, the file became way too cumbersome, and I ended up splitting up the project more efficiently into multiple project files. There may be a limit, but if not, then it would probably be any file size limits imposed by your OS.

  • Does after effects cs5 support jpeg 2000 images?

    HI,
I am using photoshop cs5 and after effects cs5.
does after effects cs5 support jpeg 2000 images?
if not, then  do we have something like encoder or decoder or plugin to make this thing work?
    Vinay

I run AE 8 at work, and I have absolutely no problem with Jpeg 2000 stuff.  I don't see why you would on AE 10.
And if you don't have it already, go download the latest version of Quicktime 7.  Don't get Quicktime 10 or X or whatever they call it: it's a train wreck ready to happen.  If you steel yourself to spend an extra 35 bucks, you can get Quicktime Pro, probably one of the most versatile little pieces of software available.

I need to reinstall my operating system for 10.5 after seeing a file folder and question mark flashing on my start up screen. Can anyone help me with this?

    Hello,
That means it can find the Hard Drive, or can't find the things needed for booting.
See if DU even sees it.
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • After Effects CC (12.2) and CS6 (11.0.4) updates are available

After Effects CC (12.2) and CS6 (11.0.4) updates are available:
    http://adobe.ly/AE_Dec_2013_updates
There are lots of bug fixes and new and changed features in the After Effects CC (12.2) update, and a couple of targeted bug fixes in the After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) update.

I have answered my own question. And as embarrassing as it is. I'll leave it up in case someone else is looking for the same answer.
Windows 7 Home Premium only supports up to 16 GB of RAM. I had to buy the Professional version in order to access all 32 GB of the installed RAM.
It's a pretty silly mistake to make, but there you have it.

  • Are the texture presets and images available in Adobe Premiere Pro free for commercial use?

Are the texture presets and images available in Adobe Premiere Pro free for commercial use (in this case, an image of a film reel is being used on a book cover)?

What the other users have said is correct. Premiere captures through FireWire or through SDI/HDMI via a 3rd party solution.
For your situation I would say the best bet is to connect you camera to your computer via USB or use a card reader and copy the entire directory to your hard drive and ingest into Premiere via Media Browser.
If you Google 'how to make stop motion in premiere pro' there are tons of great tutorials.

  • New PC for After effects Cs5.5, Cs6 and probably very soon CC

I want to buy a new computer in the folliwng days/weeks.
I use essentially After Effects (also Photoshop, Illustrator and Cinema 4D)
I had planned to buy the following pc configuration:
    - CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K (3.4 GHz)
    - MB: ASUS P9X79 PRO
    - RAM: (32 Go or 64 Go  ?)  G.Skill RipJaws Z Series 64 Go (8 x 8 Go) DDR3 2133 MHz CL11  (cerrtified by Asus for this MB)
    - GPU: Gigabyte GV-N770OC-4GD - GeForce GTX 770 4 Go
    - POWER: Be Quiet ! Alimentation Dark Power Pro 10-850W 80PLUS Platinum
    - HDD (for OSD and programms): Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512 Go
    - HDD (for current project and AE cache): Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512 Go
    - Stockage HDD: 2X Seagate Desktop SSHD 2 To
I would to know if I made mistake(s) about this configuration if experienced AE users have suggestions for me ?
    Notable relating to:
    -1- 32 or 64 GO RAM
    -2- GPU choice
    -3- CPU choice:
-4- I planned to buy two SDD (Samsung 840 Pro 512 Go): one ofr the OS and one for the current project and the AE cache. Is it useful ?
Could I buy only one SSD (for the OS AND for the current project and the AE cache) ?
I would be happy to get your suggestions or user experience about this configuration. No one ever wants to waste money.
    Cheers
    Yann

Without knowing anything about your work it is impossible to judge these things specifically. Generally I'd say you are hopelessly overdoing it with the GPU. I don't know a single use case that actually uses 4 GB on any graphics card except for games. Most OpenGL plug-ins in AE are limited to 2 GB and while this of course could change in the future, currently I see no realistic scenario to push it beyond that, because in most cases then the plug-ins will simply crash due to bugs or their internal logic not being able to deal with more VRAM. Likewise you will see zero benefit of this in C4D unless you use a GPU third-party renderer like Octane. C4D's OpenGL performance will collapse on itself long before you have filled all the memory with textures... Similarly, I see no advantage of 64GB RAM over 32GB. I do heavy CAD scenes all the time, but still have enough room left on my systems with 24 and 32GB, respectively. AE won't use that much RAM even with all MP settings at full on most projects as well. Having the fastest CPU is another matter and many functions in AE, PS and C4D are of course pur CPU and will work faster on a faster processor. With regards to the cache stuff, scroll down a few posts and make up your mind...
