After Effects from 12.0 to 12.1 upgrade Mavericks

How can I upgrade the After Effects 12.0 to 12.1 Mavericks Mac Book Pro. I run the Adobe patch installer but error out "update failed supressed by administrator", I am running as administrator. I can not open After Effects. No problem before the upgrade to OS Mavericks. Any help?

That message is not about whether you are the administrator according to your operating system; it is telling you that whoever deployed your Adobe software turned off the ability to apply updates. This is often done by enterprises who deploy their Adobe software as part of an enterprise license agreement. This is also true for educational institutions.
You need to talk with your IT folks who deployed your Adobe software to have them reverse this.

  • I can't access After Effects from OX.

When I try to open After Effects from my Mac, the programs will not run without OX 11.0.2. But Mac only has 10.9.2 available.
    Please help.

When I try to open After Effects from my Mac, the programs will not run without OX 11.0.2.
Something is obviously being lost in translation here. Adobe's programmers obviously know which is the latest version of OS X (and it's not 11.0.2).
What is the exact error message word for word? Screenshot would be even better.

Why did you do that? Certainly not standard procedure. Fortunately, there is a fix: Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

You do not want to move applications between machines.  Install them the same way you originally did using installation files.  If you need a download link....

  • After effects from mac to PC

I need to know what would be the best codec for exporting movies from after effects done on Mac and importing them on the PC's Pinnacle editing system?
mac pro 2x3 GHZ dual core intel xeon   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You should probably post your question on the Adobe After Effects forums:

  • Import problem to after effects from hp t200 digital camcorder

Ok here is the problem, I just bought a hp t200 digital camcorder for filming and when i take video and try to import i get this error msg from quick time and after effects:
quick time: The document “[ I keep changing it differently but it's always the same no matter what i put ]” could not be opened. The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands.
(I can't seem to make it work no matter what I do)
after effects: After effects error " file name " cannot be opened, it may be in an unsupported format. ( 86 :: 1 )
I need this fixed because I am going to be making a found footage film and I am going tobe putting effects in this (duh) and it would be most appreciated  to have an answer please.
    Jake

This sounds like Quicktime is missing the codec in which your camera records.  Since few people have every camera model and their codecs memorized, you'll need to identify it.

  • Random sync problems importing aaf into After Effects from Avid

The source footage is 23.98 H.264. The Avid is importing DNX36 and editing in a 23.98 timeline. When the AAF is brought into After Effects the clips are all there but the sync drifts and in some cases is randomly more out of sync than other clips.

    Thanks Rick and Mylenium
    Thanks that worked!
I thought that changing the frame rate in the composition settings would have worked.
Instead what I should have done is to go the the footage in the Project Panel then right-click on the footage > Interpret Footage > Main... then Conform to frame rate: Frame rate: 23.986607 (or whatever more accurate frame rate your footage actually is)
I used the more accurate frame rate reading from VLC which went to 5 decimal places. I got that info from the top menu in Tools > Codec Information
Its a shame AE doesn't  pick up on the more accurate fps. It seems that all the videos from my iPhone 4 have slightly different frame rates and I guess I will have to interpret each clip properly.
I hear that the frame rate on the iPhone 4 is different depending on the lighting? I wonder why that would be the case?
Hope this helps anybody else that might face this problem.
    Cheers

  • How To Stop After Effects From Knocking Out My Internet Connection As It Is Downloading?

    Greetings,
Yesterday, January 20, 2015, I purchased an annual subscription to After Effects.  And, after numerous attempts at downloading the software with the same abysmal results, I am now going to the forums for a possible remedy.  Everything goes well in beginning my download, including getting my McAfee Anti-virus program to accept Adobe Creative Cloud, however after a few minutes, the download process knocks out my Internet connection, forcing me to re-boot.  I do receive two back-to-back error messages; none of which are listed by Adobe set of error messages in their FAQ section.
The first one reads:  "Core: Creative Cloud - Application Error.  The instruction at 0x100014a0 referenced memory at 0x100014a0.  The memory could not be written."  The second error message is likened to the first, only with a different number...
"94% Complete: explorer.exe - Application Error.  The instruction at 0x80001610 referenced memory at 0x80001610.  The memory could not be written."
Finally, do you know if I can bypass all of this trouble by having Adobe After Effects disks shipped to me?  Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    Joy in the Lord,
    A. Landis Jones

    Greetings,
And thank you both, Mylenium & Dave.  After I compose this note, I am going to mark your answers as correct.  I just wanted to write this qualifier, first.  I tried to do as both of you suggested, however, I could not figure out how to disable McAfee Anti-Virus.  I did manage to turn off McAfee Firewall.  And when that was done, I tried to download After Effects.  However, that trick did not work the first couple of times I tried it.  A few re-boots later, After Effects (as well as some unknown program I did not expect called Media Encoder) finally downloaded on my computer.
After I began this thread, I recalled that, oftentimes, when I view YouTube videos online, the same thing happens - my Internet connection gets disrupted.  Then I remembered that the trouble began when my computer crashed and I tried to re-install Windows 8.1 Pro.  So, maybe that is the real culprit - my system crash, that is.  A little while ago, I tested viewing YouTube videos to no avail.  So, I am suspecting that your solution to turn off my anti-virus (in my case, my firewall) did the trick, and I thank you two, Mylenium & Dave, mightily.
    May you have many blessings.
    Joy in the Lord,
    A. Landis Jones

  • Importing VPE files to after effects from photoshop

I've tried this loads of times and nothing happens. The file appears in after effects but there is no camera automatically created (as I think its supposed to be) and the 3D image is still a 2D photo.
    Please can anyone help?

Several things can be going on here.
    1. It could be that your PSD / VP grids are incorrectly drawn (wall/floor/wall)
Remember that you need to have the grids drawn properly in order to allow AE to interpret the camera data.
    2. Your grid is skewed
The VPE data is dependent on those grids so that the camera placement can be determined. If you skew the grid, the camera might be 10000 px away
    3. Multi grids
You'll get multiple cameras, which SHOULD break AE.
    4. Camera Rotation
Sometimes the camera is just looking in the wrong place.
NOTE When you import the VPE, USE the VPE project that is created - don't just pull in the elements. It's camera mapping, so you'll need the correct layers and correct (crazy) camera to see the image properly.

  • Adobe After Effects CC can't save project on OSX Mavericks

Can not save my projects I have created in Adobe After Effects CC since I have upgraded to Mavericks. Anyone else having this issue?

What you are describing is almost certainly a problem with permissions set for the folder that you're trying to save to.
We've seen the same problem with the preferences folder, so I've been giving this advice a lot:
Set the permissions for the entire /Users/username/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/12.0/  folder to be writable.
If that doesn't work, then uninstall After Effects (being certain to choose the option to remove all preferences) and then reinstall it.
This messup of permissions happens when Mac OS doesn't correctly preserve permissions of various folders when you upgrade an operating system, rather than installing the new operating system fresh.

  • Platform change: Can I buy After Effects 7.0 (Mac)   AE 5.5 Upgrade (Win) and change platform to AE 5.5. Mac?

I want to buy After Effects 7.0 (Mac)  + an upgrade version, which is unfortunately an AE 5.5 Upgrade (Win) version.
Can I change the upgrade version to platform AE 5.5. Mac?
    Thanks in advance!

no, unfortunately adobe only supports platform changes for current software, Order product | Platform, language swap
you could upgrade to adobe cc (and get upgrade pricing) that would allow you to use on both mac and pc.

  • I'm having trouble downloading After Effects from the Download Assistant. Error 107?

It says it cannot connect to Adobe.com but my connection is fine. I've restarted after closing the program several times and I've even tried different networks. Any help would be valuable to me. Thanks!

You will want to complete solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assistant.html#main_Solutio n_1.  Also where are you trying to download the install files too?
Alternately you can utilize the steps listed in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369 to initiate a direct download.
