hi okay on one of my computers i go to open after effects and it says after effects has crashed please see error report error 1 then later :41 then i go to uninstal it and it loads and stops it wont uninstal. please help.

how you doing guys, i hope you have solved your problem,if not this is how i solve it most of the time...
we all like fonts... alot.. sometimes we like it so much that we install every font we find kool, but after effects has a little bit of problem
caching most of those kool fonts ( i have 3,037 ).
what i did was booting my pc using HIREN'S BOOT CD in mini windows xp, download or if you have a backup of the basic xp fonts ( like me )
go to your windows folder in c: and cut and move the font folder to other drive and replace it with the basic one, reboot and voila! it worked

Hey all.
I've recently been getting the aforementioned error message, and from what I've gathered from my reading into the problem it's probably the most generic AE error message there is. Fun. If it makes a difference, it always appears when AE is initializing the User Interface. I haven't tried all the other programs yet, but Photoshop CS2 seems to load up without a problem, as does Premiere Pro 2.0.
I'm running AE 7.0 as part of the Creative Suite Production Studio Premium (Student Edition), 2GB of RAM, and am running on a Gateway MX6640b (?) laptop. And I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of computers, so my apologies if I haven't listed all the relevant specs of my laptop.
I haven't been able to pinpoint what may have caused this problem (I guess that's pretty evident), but I've tried a ton of stuff to try and get it sorted. I've ran multiple disk checks (which have thrown up a bunch of unreadable files, all of which have now been fixed. Though it seems to always find another bad file cluster each time I run it), defragged the hard drive, updated my video drivers, reinstalled AE7 as well as uninstalling and installing it, installed the AE Render Engine, ran the Adobe Updater, and uninstalled and installed the entire Creative Suite. I haven't installed any new fonts since I last used it (I've read that incompatible fonts may cause this error message). And now I'm at a real loss about what to do.
Incidentally, by running the "Install After Effects Render Engine" program, it actually threw up more error messages when AE was starting up than before despite the fact that it claims to fix bugs / corrupt files etc. For some reason it couldn't find any of the palettes (Audio, Tool, and the like) - but I sorted that out when I uninstalled and reinstalled AE.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can run AE without OpenGL capable hardware, so that shouldn't be the cause of your problems. It's probably either a corrupt preference file or QuickTime installation.

The "Render Engine" is a version of AE that can be used on unmanaged machines that collaboratively render a project over a network. That's why it doesn't have all the options. It can't be used for anything other than rendering.
Make sure you enable "Show hidden files/folders" in Windows XP's view preferences. See my blog post for other ways of deleting the preferences.

again i have problim with after effect and premiere with this error, please help me thank you.

2.53 GHz Core 2 Dul

it was working fine both of them Pr and AE, now i start getting this error i dont know where they came from.
AE will load every thing after loading i get this error and i have to close it.... but Pr i gives me this error when i click ok it will start working... please help me with this, i dont know when will i stop getting these error
now every thing stoped working it gives me this as will same ( The application Adobe after effect 9.0 quit unexpectedly ) - and when i try to inshall the update it says ( Adobe after effect CS4 9.0.2 - failed to install.

Your updates went all wrong and messed up things with MediaCore. I recommend you download the standalone installers for the updates for all related applications (AE, Adobe Media Encoder and Premiere) from the support pages and run them. If that doesn#t solve the issue, then I'm afraid you'll have to do a full re-install. Run the CS4 Clean Script before re-installing.

Hello, I am thoroughly enjoying not being able to get work done, but I would love to get my work done ._. This error message came up today with no reason, speaking that I did plenty of work on AE yesterday. Before this happened though, I got "ERROR CODE: 16" (Real creative), which would not even let AE start initializing. I fixed that and then I got this error. So I decided I would simply re-install the application (AND ALL MY PLUG-INS), but now I just get this stupid error. Without "ERROR CODE: 16". BUT, to make things more ammusing, I get a message saying that Quicktime is not installed. BUT IT IS! I reinstalled that and still get that pop-up. So, how do I fix this program that is broken with errors?

After Effects has started crashing when I scrub through timeline.

I've been working on an animation for several weeks and now, starting yesterday, whenever I scrub through the timeline the program crashes on me and gives several error messages. It seems to have started after I added a large image layer with motion blur enabled that moves pretty quick. But even if I turn off motion blur for the whole comp the issue still occurs.
Error messages are as follows:
After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking format plug-in “PNG”.
After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking rendering plug-in “AE_OpenGL”.
After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <6356> <ASL.ResourceUtils.GetLanguageIDFromRegistry> <0> Unable to obtain the User 'Language' registry key at: Software\Adobe\After Effects\10.5\ Defaulting to 'en_US'.

Before quitting, you have one chance to save your project (don’t use the same name as the original).
I am using After Effects version 10.5.0.253.
I have tried several troubleshooting steps such as updating my display drivers, disabling OpenGL in Preferences > Previews, Moving the Extensions folder out of my install, Recreating my preferences, Purging the cache, and even just uninstalling and reinstalling After Effects all to no avail.
Additional Details:
Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-Bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 @ 3.40Ghz
RAM: 8.00 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 with Driver ver. 320.49
Any help from the community would be greatly appreciated. I'm usually good at being able to research and resolve my own issues by this one has me stumped and my boss is on my case about the deadline.

While I did have OpenGL disabled in Preferences > Previews its seems I still had Fast Previews set to Adaptive Resolution - OpenGL off. I've switched this to just Off and now seem to be back on track. I believe I didn't have an understanding of what all "turn off OpenGL" truly meant. I'll continue working and report back wether or not I have any more issues related to this.
What would have causes this issue to appear in the first place? I've been working in AE 5.5 for about 2 years now doing a multitude of different projects but this is the first time I've run up against this issue. Is my hardware just simply underpowered?

After Effects CC not seeing QT

Hi all, I'm test driving After Effects CC, and I'm getting an error code upon launch that it doesn't see Quicktime installed on the system. Now i do have Quicktime installed and it's up to date, so i'm not sure why AE CC doesn't see it, because AE CS5.5 (that I have installed now) sees it fine. Also, when I close AE CC, I receive this error: "After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <536> <ae.blitpipe> <2> HardwareBlitPipe Disengaged" and this this one comes up after selecting ok: "After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. For After Effects support, go to http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_ae_support. If you still can't resolve the issue, please contact Adobe Technical Support (2). ( 0 :: 42)" And then I get the Windows 7 compatibility message which says that After Effects CC has crashed.

I've been searching ages around the net to find a solution, thought I haven't came across one. I really hope someone can help me with this problem.
It's very strange, because when I run the program as Administrator, the error doesn't occur. But when I import a video, open a project or something the same error pops up. Any idea's?

I have a 512MB graphics card, 4 GB of RAM. My computer should be able to handle it. It can handle the thoughest games, so.
Next to that, I also have Premiere Pro CS3, which used to work but doesn't anymore. When I start that up, it says Program doesn't work anymore and it shuts down automaticly.
And about the last status message, the only thing I see it the square after effects splash thing. Saying it uses 1% of my 4GB, then the error pops up and nothing happends.
Anyway, on the internet I read most of the time it has something to do with broken codecs and such. So I downloaded codec sniper, which says a few Premiere Pro codecs are broken. Can this have a link to After Effects not working?

Have you installed the After Effects CS5 (10.0.1) update? That update fixes a lot of problems.

My After Effects CS5 crashed and won't restart

My battery died on my laptop while AF CS5 was running (I thought it was plugged in). It had been running fine up till then.
When I plugged the machine in and started AF, I got the error message:
"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <4788> <DynamicLink><5>C\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\DynamicLink\CS5|dynamiclinkmanager.exe"
After clicking on OK, I get the error:
"After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. See http://www.adobe.com/support/products/aftereffects.html for Adobe nTechnical Support (2). (0 :: 42)"
I restarted the machine and AF, but get the same error message. All of the other Production Premium Suite programs still run fine.
I reinstalled AE CS5 from the CD, but still the same problem.
I have emailed Adobe, but have not heard back yet. Any Ideas?

I renamed the "Adobe After Effects 10.0-x64 Prefs.txt" file, AE started right up and created a new one.
Tip - When I looked for the AppData file in C:\users\user name\ folder, I couldn't find it! Then I realized that my "show hidden files" setting was turned off in the folder options.

No. There is no way they could do that. Especially not in CS4.
There are a lot of people in the same situation as you who pop on the forums with some frequency. Well, not usually trying to run such an old version - it's usually CS5 or CS5.5, but the issues are similar: odd error messages. Trying to run old versions of software on new, unsupported operating systems can be a fun exercise (like getting Linux installed on a potato). However, even if it does work for a while, the least little thing can cause it to foul up. Maybe Windows updated, maybe a background service that wasn't running before is running now, maybe something subtle changed in your registry or your display settings or any of a thousand different things. The bottom line is that something changed between when it was working and now.
The error message seems to indicate some sort of issue in your registry. That is a tricky area to mess around in. Have you installed ANYTHING on your computer between when it was working and now? Added any browser extensions? Installed any codec packs? Downloaded any apps? Updated any software?
By the way, it's not very expensive to bump up to a 64-bit version of your OS if you did want to use a modern version of After Effects. I mean, if you want to continue working with After Effects, it would be a lot easier to use an older OS or a newer AE than to keep trying to kludge it like we are.

After effects CS3 crash when importing

I can open .aep, make compositions or create solids but importation always crash AE :s

Adobe After Effects CS4 Crashes After Reinstall

Hello Adobe Community,
I come to you asking for help, my After Effects CS4 stopped working after reinstalling Leopard, I already reinstalled my Suite and Runned the Clean Up Script and still not working, first I launch the App and shows me the following error: "After Effects has encountered an error: [/Chinchillada/pro/ext/adobe/MediaCore/MedialLayer/VideoFilterHost/Make/Mac/../../Src/AEP luginVideoFilterModule.cpp-107]" then I click continue and then it shows me another error: "After Effects can't continue: An Output contract violation has ocurred!" then it shows another error: "After Effects warning: Failed to initialize mediacore" then it shows this "After Effects warning: Media Core is not correctly initialized" then it launches and freezes and shows that the app quitted unexpectedly, I'm sure that the app is dead but I already reinstalled with no success.
Im Running:
Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.7
Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz
1 GB Ram
After Effects worked and runned perfectly Please Help!

Hi Mike,
Sorry you are experiencing problems with After Effects.
I have a couple of questions....
- did you install from a download, or a CD? if from a download, please download again, as their may have been issues
- did you update it to v 9.02?
- did you have a previous beta version on your computer?
- you said you reinstalled Leopard - did you do a clean install? (ie reformatting your harddrive and starting clean)
I have experienced issues on the mac with a variety of different applications is I do a 're-install" vs a clean install.
Finally, are you aware that the minimum RAM requirements for AE CS4 is2GB
So since you only have 1GB, it could be a RAM issue.
If you decided you want to try reinstalling before doing the more difficult task (reformatting Mac OS X with a clean install), I would run the cleanup script first, redownload, install, and then update.

My after effects keeps crashing when i add effects i think it is due to disk cach?? help!

My after effects cs6 keeps crashing when i add effects but it is random.. for example i might add 3 adj layers with effects on each .. different effects then randomly when i add say turbulent displace a window will pop up saying after effects has crashed due to... [ turbulent displace ]! also when i start up after effects it says there is not enough disk cach even though my disk cach is empty and i allow over 300 gb for it!
please help! mabey i need to configure after effects more or something but any advise with be greatly appreciated.
