After effects is stuck on initializing media core

Well the title says it all. When ever i try to start up After Effects it just gets stuck on initializing media core. I looked on one of you're posts where it said enable a few of adobe products to be allowed on the firewall and i did but it still wont open it. Please respond asap.

Considering the wealth of information you've supplied about your system, the versions of software you're running and any ancillary cards you have have installed, here's my best guess given the facts at hand:  AE doesn't like you any more.  What did you do to make it so angry with you?
First, you should apologize to AE.
Then you should UNINSTALL Quicktime X and install the latest version of QT7.

  • After Effects Hanging on Initializing Media Core

I downloaded the trial for After Effects CC 2014 to make sure it would work on my computer, but when I try to open it the start up screen hangs at initialing media core. I made sure that After Effects was allowed through the firewall, but it's still not working. I want to buy it, but I can't if it won't start. Please help!

I can't promise this will help and I have email from Adobe support that specifically says this won't work and isn't the problem. So if you want to try this, it's just working advice from some shlub who wants the software to work and doesn't care whose feelings are hurt. This response fixes all versions of After Effects and Premiere Pro in the CC and CC 2014 series. The file ExporterAVI.prm is bad. It has had a flaw since around 2013. Now you can fix this taking no chance with your computer or installation, so if you follow this carefully you'll do nothing to hurt your setup and if it doesn't work, just change it back.
Each application has it's separate copy in it's separate folder, so just go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\(Media Core Plug-ins)\Common
Find the file called ExporterAVI.prm and rename it (I always just rename it to ExporterAVI.prmold
Now run After Effects CC. If it loads, you found the problem. If it doesn't rename it back to it's original name and, no harm, no foul.
If it does load, know that you can't export an AVI file. You need a PRM file that works. I always keep one saved. It will work for the CC version and the CC 2014 version. It is from an old copy of the original CC version of both programs.t is 159Kb and dated 8/20/2013. The properties detail tab actually says it was created on 3/27/2012. Every time an update come out that affects this, it will stop working, so just rename it again and put back in the old file and you'll get full functionality. I've had to use it six time since the update after 8/2013, but I have full functionality of all four versions of both programs, but it won't work with the current version of ExporterAVI.prm. So far, that means every time it loads an update, I have to fix the file in the After Effects CC, After Effects CC 2014, Premiere Pro CC and Premiere Pro CC 2014. The same file is used in Prelude, Encore and Media Encoder, but I don't use those programs. so I don't know if they freeze up or not.
Also look at the last entry in your plugin loading.log file, it should say something like:
    Loading E:\Win8\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2014\Support Files\(Media Core plug-ins)\Common\ExporterAVI.prm
Invalid registry entry found so the plugin will be loaded from disk.
    Loading from disk...
and then the log ends and the program freezes.
p.s. If you don't have a copy of the old version of the file, call Adobe, don't ask me - I can't give copies of it to anyone, I just make them because I keep backups before every update.

  • After Effects Hangs on Initializing Media Core and Only Uses .40 GB or RAM

I actually have either 2 separate issues or one that effects both. The fist one is that once After Effects loads, I generally can't RAM preview for 1080p quality, and about 6-20 frames for 720p, depending on if I get lucky or not. I went into Memory and Multiprocessing in the preference and no matter what I set the RAM per CPU to, the Actual CPUs that will be used is always 0, so then I go to details and it says "Installed RAM: 11.99 GB." "Current RAM Usage: .28 GB" "Allowed RAM Usage: .40GB." Whenever I render a video it always uses up to 3% or 4% of my RAM but never any higher.
    And the second problem...
Whenever I start After Effects CS6 (and it happened in CS5.5) Trials it hangs on Initializing Media Core, for about 5 minutes, then it says Quicktime isn't installed. To fix that problem I have tried everything I could find in the 30+ hours I have spent on that problem. Turning off all firewalls, anti-virus, etc, updating, reinstalling, and everything in between. (Also I see dynamiclinkmanager.exe and  AfterFX.exe but not QT32.exe or PProHeadless.exe which need to be allowed through firewalls and such)
    I'm using After Effects CS6
    Windows 7 64-bit
    12 GB of RAM
Quicktime 7.7.2 and Itunes 10.6.3.25  Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks! ^.^

Ok, well I installed updates to my graphics driver, After Effects, and Windows, and unfortunately nothing worked, but from reading other forums, when I am using After Effects I should see QT32server.exe right? That doesn't show up in processes, but also I installed Premiere Pro to test dynamic link, and I always get an error "Failed to connect to Dynamic Link Manager." and when I hit Ctrl + Enter it says the same thing. ( I actually don't know what that hotkey does ) any ideas at all would be very much appreciated
Edit: I started thinking about it, my driver is an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450, which I didn't see on Adobe's supported list, is this the culprit behind the render problems?

  • After Effects hangs on "initializing Media Core"

I might be off subject here, but my AE CS6 would not complete the start up and simply hang at "INITIALIZING MEDIA CORE".
After finding some info about that, but for CS5, apparently a Quick Time codec problem, I got rid of PERIAN, and all is well now, it start right up.
I am using an old 2007 2.66 dual core, with 9GB and a 5770 graphic card. Not ultra spiffy, but does the job...

  • After Effects 6.5 on a Quad Core

    Hello,
1 - Can I use after Effects 6.5 on a Quad core... Will it take advantage of it like CS3.
2 - How much memory should I have for 32 bit version of windows?
I don't want to have to upgrade both hardware and software unless I really have to.
3 - Also if I upgrade to Vista, will it run earlier versions on Premiere Pro(1.0), Photoshop(7) and After Effects(6.5) and Flash (8).
    Many thanks,
    Stephen

Let me clear one big misconception from your mind: XP64 is not faster than its 32bit pendant - it's just different. The main difference is, that each process is launched isolated from each other, so there is no concurrent multitasking and RAM usage - if the system provides enbough physical RAM. This greatly improves overall stability and allows you to launch more applications without them interfering with each other. The real difference is that you can use the full 4GB for a 32bit app to begin with, which is not possible at all on 32bit systems as they will always be truncated to 2/2.5/3GB.
More RAM by itself will not have any impact on the host system's speed, either. In theory (if your motherboard would support that many RAM banks) you could throw 128 GB at XP64, but it wouldn't turn a toaster into a rocket. ;-) There are some 64bit native apps that feel smoother on such systems, but this mostly hinges on the programs having to shuffle less data back and forth. On 32bit systems a lot of time is spent doing just that - swapping memory pages or parking them in the swap file on your hard drive. On a 64 bit system you don't need that as much, you can simply request more RAM.
Pertaining to your programs: Yes, they will run just fine on XP64. I used 6.5 on XP64 until recently myself and the older Photoshop versions never much cared, either. Premiere might be a bit picky, but with a little fiddling should be get to run.

  • After Effects CC 2014 initializing Media core

    Hello Everyone,
So for about the past month or so, After Effects CC 2014 hasn't been opening for me. Every time I open the program, it gets stuck on initializing Mediacor and then proceeds to crash. I have been told that it is a misplaced file during installation, but everything is where it should be. Alo, I'm using  Lenovo Y50-90 Gaming Laptop with an Intel Core i7 4700HQ processor and my graphics card is a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860M 2GB.I am also using Window's 8. Any and all help will be immediately grateful.
    Thak you

  • After Effects CC 2014,0 H264 Media export

Windows 8.1 (absolutely nothing to do with the problem)
Quicktime version 7,7,5 (absolutely nothing to do with the problem)
    After Effects CC 2014.0
Unable to export media with h264 codec of the same quality as in After Effects CS6,
Media Encoder CC 2014.0 - h264 - worse quality, twice the size of the file
    Quicktime - h264 - much lower quality, much larger - about 6x - unusable
Thank you for advice on how to make After Effects reusable software.
Without quality media export this program unusable.

Thank you I learned that it is dependent on the setting. After twenty years of working with AE, it is refreshing to me. I recommend you try the settings before you answer and you will see that the original h264 codec, which was removed from After Effects, had at the same file size much higher quality. Full HD 50p has MediaCoder twice the size of a qucktime h264 is unusable. If you say that the same results can edit the settings, please publish here the settings for full HD 50p. (for sure 50 frames per second 1920x1080 px) After the recent modifications indeed degraded to a tool for Youtube, but before that it was a professional tool for video post-production. Please, therefore the publication of setting the same quality as it was before deleting AE h264 codec.

  • After Effects won't load my media.

Hi guys. My name is Andrew. I am kind of new film maker, (i still have a lot to learn). Anyway, i have recently working on a project in After Effects CS4. Basically i shot some scenes with two different cameras. My Camera is writing in a format with extension  ".m2ts", and my friend's camera is writing in a format with extension ".mpg". Well i used to convert those files in ".avi" extension so i could work in After Effects, but i am losing a little bit of the quality of my media. So once i tried to import directly to After Effects. I was surprised because it actually worked, with no problems i was working with my project. One day my After Effects Crashed, and i reinstalled it. When i opened my project again, everything was good instead that i got a message telling me that After Effects couldn't open ".m2ts" and ".mpg" Files. Since then i don't know what to do. Any help is better than nothing
    Thank you for reading

Thank you all, for your help that you provided me. My problem is solved. After I finished using the tool “Mylenium” gave me, I tried to import my “.m2ts” files, but they still had problems. Then I restarted my system and opened the Adobe Master Collection CS4 Installer, when the process for my system check finished the installer didn’t find that After Effects were still on my system. So the tool that “Mylenium” gave me removed after effects from registry. I simply installed After Effects, Photoshop, Premier Pro and Bridge from Custom installation, and it seems like the installer overwrite the after effects files. After the successful installation, I ran After Effects and tried to import again “.m2ts” file. And then it worked. Now I can import directly my files to after effects.
Thank you “Mylenium” for the tool and thank you “Dave LaRonde” for your advice, I will use it in the future.
God bless you, and the forums communities

  • Replace with after effects composition not bringing in media

When I replace a premiere clip with an after effects comp it creates a new composition but doesn't bring in the media.  Anyone have a answer?

I am having the same issue. When I "replace with after effects composition" it creates an AE comp but no media files transfer over.
I've been able to work around it but when I want to use a small clip from a long video file it's a big hassle to re-import the footage into AE and find the clip I need to mess with, then re-place back in premiere.
This problem occurs with any media, whether it's a JPEG image, a PSD file, or video footage (MOV format shot on a Canon DSLR).

  • Computer Freezes when Initializing Media Core

So as the title says. What I've done so far to try and fix the problem is take out all plugins, uninstall and re install, and even slap quick time a bunch of times.
Nothing seems to work and the only thing I can do is remove the AsioWdm so that the mediacore fails to initialize and while I can still make and edit projects, I lost the aility to make movies because of it. I didn't use to have to do this and all my other adobe programs work just fine. After Effects is also fully updated.
    My specs are:
    Windows 7 64 bit
    8G RAM
    Nvidia GTX 480
    Dual Core Extreme

Ah-ha~ I fixed it somehow. What I did was reinstall my graphics drivers, uninstalled after effects and checked the "remove prefferences option", and then re-installed the program.
    Stuff I noticed:
After the re-install, the program told me I needed to reinstall "ImporterFastMPEG" "ImporterXDCAMEX" and "ImporterXDCAMHD". So I deleted those files and re-ran After Effects and it re-installed them.
    Before and After:
I looked over the folder and compared it to before the re-install and it turned out my extensions folder was completely missing as well.

  • Stuck on "Initializing Media Player Applet, Please Wait." under Recordings - Calabrio One Quality Management

We're having an issue with a couple of users who cannot access the Recordings section of the Calabrio Quality Management web interface. Other users can login and view Recordings just fine and they seemingly are configured the same. Here is what the failed user experiences:
    1) User logs in to Calabrio Quality Management (Separate Logins) via the Cisco Unified Workforce Optimization page.
    2) User clicks Recordings button on the top part of the page
    3) After accepting a couple of Java Security prompts and enabling pop-ups, it just hangs on the following prompt:
Initializing Media Player Applet, Please Wait...(This may take several minutes)
What's odd is that on the same PC, I will log in with another user that is known to work, and they can access the page with no problems.
Here are things I have tried to rectify the problem but have not succeeded:
    - Tried on IE 8, 10 and 11, Firefox, and Chrome
    - Cleared Java Temporary Internet Files
    - Checked users permissions Under Quality Manager Administrator
    - Validated PC settings (where the login is), all checks have passed
We are running Calabrio One Quality Management 9.0.1.57.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    John

    Hey all,
I spoke to Calabrio Support and this is a known issue with all versions of QM to date. The problem is when sometimes user searches are too big. The QM C1 auto-executes the most recent search and will cause the page to never load. The fix as follows:
    1) Log into the Windows Server that has the QM Software installed.
    2) Open "Quality Management Administrator" and log in. Expand 'Site Configuration', then click 'System Database' to find the SQL Instance Hostname/IP. You'll need it for Step 4.
    3) On Windows, Click 'Start >> All Programs >> Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 >> SQL Server Management Studio'
    4) SQL Server Authentication. Input the following:
    Server Type: Database Engine
    Server Name: <SQLInstance>\QM
    Authentication: SQL Server Authentication
    User: sa
    Password: *********
    Log in.
    5) Expand 'Databases'
    6) Right-click the database 'SQMDB', then click 'New Query'
    7) Enter this command:
    delete from Search where name='recentsearchforsystem'
    8) Click Execute
    9) Log into the Web interface again and test and verify access to Recordings is now working

  • After Effects Crashes On Startup (Initializing User Interface)

OK, this is really frustrating me now.
    I've tried CS3, CS4 both on a Late 07, maybe early 08 White Macbook running Leopard 10.5.8, 4GB Ram, 2.1GHz CPU.
I installed CS4 without a hitch, but when I go to open it sticks on "Initializing User Interface" at the splash screen and then crashes and quits. This happens with CS3 as well, and I am unable to open anything.
I've tried to delete user preferences, create a new user and try there, repair disk permissions, connect an external monitor and try again, nothing works!
Any suggestions to get this to work?

I just did this search for the error message, and I found some possible solutions, including in the comments on this page.
