After Effects Ray-tracing warning.

Hey guys, so I'm getting this warning when I launch After Effects that says:
"Ray-tracing on the GPU requires CUDA version 4.0 or later. Ray-tracing will use the CPU until you install the latest supported CUDA driver"
I'm on a retina 15" macbook pro, which uses 2 GPUs, (Intel HD Graphics 4000 & NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory). What can I do to fix this issue i'm having? Thanks. I'm also running version 11.0.2

Does any of the information here help fix your problem?

  • When support After Effects Ray-traced 3D the GPU of the new iMac with retina display (GPU: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB)?

I would like to know whether After Effects CC Ray-traced 3D support the GPU of the new iMac with retina display.

It never will. This is nVidia-exclusive technology and the whole things is deprecated, anyway. You better learn to use Cineware, buy a 3D program like Pro Animator or Element 3D or learn a proper 3D program.

  • After Effects CS5.5 Warning Dialogue

Everytime I click my cursor on ANYTHING in Adobe After Effects CS5.5 I receive this error. I have After Effects Cs5 and it runs smoothly. I recently downloaded CS5.5 trial and I cannot do anything with it because of this error. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall many times but that does not solve the issue. Nor does going to the directory to try and rename/recreate Cursor files.
    My specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    i3 3.2GHz 64-bit
    8gb DDR3 RAM.
Please help, I need to use CS5.5 asap

Open the directory referred to in the error message. Is the file referred to there?
The file is not in the directory, however I have tried to duplicate a file similiar to it and rename it the "missing file".
Well, did you check the permissions/ file ownership? Things being inaccessible usually boils down to that. That also includes security tools blocking stuff...

How do I do that? I have full admistrative rights, if thats what you mean.

  • AE Noob here with nada clue what that Ray Tracing Warning means

Does this mean I have to upgrade my Graphics card inorder to use the software?

Ray Traced rendering is a feature that is not undergoing any further development. Adobe is moving in another, hopefully more productive direction. If you have an NVIDIA card that is compatible with the System Requirements you can get GPU accelerated rendering. If you do not have a compatible card then your Ray-traced compositions will be rendered by the CPU and this is very slow.
Check for a compatible card and then download the appropriate Cuda drivers. If you do not have a compatible card, do not install Cuda, and don't worry much about it.

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 : Window [Warning : Unknown Exception]

I've used my AE CS4 for many months already, and it was working fine.
Recently, I imported some videos into my PC, and then this started to happen:
Everytime I try to open AE, a window pops up and says "Warning : Unknown Exception."
    I've tried re-installing the program. Didn't work.
I've even tried doing a C:Drive Disk Cleanup, just in case. Still didn't work.
I doubt it has anything to do with the video I imported though.
    Can someone help me?

    This is weird.
"Application Data" does not exist in my C Drive.
    Are there any other solutions?
And what is the problem actually?

  • Adobe After Effects CC 2014 warning plug-ins failed..

    Hello,
This is a fresh update version with no previous 3rd party plug-ins.
Asking if it is  better to delete and re-install program or other method to correct problem.
    Thanks for the help
    Kelly

    I'd try reinstalling.
If that doesn't work, more info will be needed. We don't even know what version of Windows you're running! What versions of AE you've had before, etc.
Do you have GoPro Studio installed? Have you ever installed CineForm codecs? Have you installed any third-party codec packs (such as K-Lite)?
I'm asking because all of these things might cause problems depending on your situation. (Third-party codec packs can cause LOTS of odd/terrible problems...)

  • Quicktime compatibility issue with Adobe After Effects

    Hi,
When opening Adobe After Effects CC, a warning pops up: " Quicktime is not installed on this system, some components will not work correctly. "
But an older (trial) version of CS6 is also running on the same system...
    2013 Mac Pro
    3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5
    32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
    OSX 10.9.4
...and it exports QT correctly! I have installed both: Quicktime Player 7 Pro (7.6.6) and Quicktime Player 10.3. Firewall is disabled and I don't use other Quicktime components.
I found several threads on this topic like: http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2011/02/troubleshooting-quicktime-errors-wit h-after-effects.html
    and...
    http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/08/solutions-for-problems-with-quicktim e-files-in-after-effects-cc-12-0-because-of-conflict-with-dvcprohdvideoout-quick time-component.html
... But none of the above proposed solutions seem to work. That's why I am trying my luck here.
    Thanks in advance!

Okay, the issue is supposed to be resolved by following these instructions: http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2014/06/permissions-mac-os-start-adobe-appli cations.html
The blogpost describes exactly what is going on with After Effects CC.
It says: "Set the entire Adobe preferences folder and its contents to be read/write, not just read-only."
    However this folder:
    Mac OS: [drive]/Users/[user_name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/
    ...seems to be in a different spot on my mac;
    Mac OS: [drive]/Library/Preferences/
Or is it the wrong folder? It contains many .plist files amongst which com.adobe... preferences, so I am guessing it's the right one. There is no Library folder in the Users/[user_name] folder anyway.
But changing the "read only" into "read/write" doesn't seem to get me anywhere. Having done so, the same notification remains: "Quicktime is not installed on this system..."
Just a direction; no solution yet. Or am I missing something?

  • Why does my font/text change when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D in After Effects?

My font/text changes when I switch from Classic 3D to Ray traced 3D. Why is it doing this? Also, I cant get the font/txt to look the same after I switch from Classic to Ray traced. How can I get it to look the same?

I am pretty new to After Effects so I hope it's not my inexperience that's causing the problem. (It probably is)
I just updated to the most current version of AE.
    I am on a mac pro late 2013 12GB 6 core. Running OSX 10.9.4
Okay so after looking at it a little closer, I think the color is what mostly changes. The first screenshot is the what the text look like with Classic 3D and the second screenshot is what it looks like after I change it to Ray traced 3D. Also under the "Mode" section..the pull down that says "Normal" disappears. I'm wondering why the font color is changing?

  • Is gonna work the new Intel Iris Graphics with After Effects in GPU mode (ray traced) in a future?

I want to know if it will be posible... I don't want to think that lots of users (with intel iris MacBook's) are out of this option.

    No.
The ray-traced 3D renderer is built on top of the Nvidia OptiX library, which requires CUDA.

  • Is possible to enable the GPU Firepro V5900 to use ray-tracing on After Effects CC?

My GPU is disabled , is there any possibility to enable ?

    No.
The ray-traced 3D renderer (which is an obsolete feature that you very likely have little use for) relies on CUDA, which is only on Nvidia GPUs.
We strongly recommend using other 3D features in After Effects, such as the integration with Cinema 4D:

After Effects error: Ray-traced 3D: Out of paged mapped memory for ray tracer. Your project may exceed GPU limits. Try closing other applications. Try Updating the CUDA driver. (5070::2)

If you want 3d in After Effects, you can use the (much more powerful) Cinema 4D that comes INCLUDED FOR FREE with After Effects CC and later. More info here: details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects

I'm hoping Adobe plans to at least recognize these cards one day soon so they don't show up unsupported.  If anything I would expect the newer adobe software to work better with newer cards than it should with 5 year old quadro cards.
I know a situation like this can be very frustrating, sorry about that.
Unfortunately, the newer Maxwell NVIDIA GPUs ship without the OptiX Library and acceleration of ray-traced 3D compositions is dependent on that. Therefore, acceleration of these comps will not ever be supported with those GPUs. You may want to reinstall that Quadro card if you plan on doing a lot of ray-traced 3D work.
The After Effects team does recommend that you move forward with Cinema 4D Lite, as that is what is being tested and supported currently and going into the future.

  • Why do all of my Adobe CC applications crash after giving me a warning about Ray Tracing and Media & Cache Storage?

I've been struggling with this issue for much too long.  I can't seem to find the solution anywhere,  or perhaps I'm not asking the right question?
Any help would be appreciated.   I'm a bit disapointed so far.   I just dropped 300 bucks.    Somone please help me.

All CC apps? That's unlikely. those warnings are specific to After Effects and Premiere Pro. However, since you haven't provided even a shred of technical info like system specs nobody can know what is going on. Most of those errors come down to inadequate hardware or at least an unsuitable configuration/ driver...
