After Effects stops responding when importing larger video
Although this is likely a common topic, I've searched just about everywhere for an answer to this new problem I'm experiencing and I have had no luck.
Just recently, out of the blue, when I try to import larger (100+mb) quicktime videos into after effects the program stops responding and it doesn't give me an error message. Smaller 2mb videos import without a problem but I can't even drag a large video into the comp without it closing down on me. I've imported 400 rpf pictures in sequence which was 1gb and it worked fine but larger videos just shut it down. I've tried the following:
- adjusting my OpenGL settings.
- removing my gl plugin
- adjusting my texture memory
- resetting preferences back to default
- purged my image and video memory
- cleared all the caches
- re-installed quicktime and made sure it was the correct version
- re-installed after effects (cs5.5) version 10.5.5.253
- reduced resolution
- swore loudly and cried uncontrolably
I have used this videos many times in the past without problem it just seems that all of a sudden the video is too big making the program shut down.
I'm on Windows 7 Intel quad core processor
16gb ram
Grapics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 (4064mb ram)
I've checked the graphics card and I'm running the most up to date version.
I hope I have provided enough information. I appreciate any help in advance.
Andrew
Well, I'd back up all your data first, if you haven't already. You should be doing that all along anyway. (Don't forget things like Photoshop brushes, Animation presets, etc. in your Adobe folders.)
Alright, before we go crazy, I would Google around for instructions on how to completely remove K-Lite.
If, you follow that and it's still messing up, the second thing I would do is to uninstall all your Adobe software.
Then run the CS Cleaner Adobe provides on their website.
Uninstall Quicktime.
Download and install a new version of Quicktime 7 (NOT Quicktime X).
And then reinstall your Creative Suite software.
If, after those steps, it still doesn't work, then you are going to have to go nuclear.
The first step is to back up all of your data. Documents, fonts, project files, stock footage libraries, music, animation presets, project templates, etc. Anything that you've added to the computer (except for programs).
Your computer either came with recovery disks or the ability to create them. Make the disks if you haven't already.
Put them in and reboot the machine. It should give you an option to wipe out everything and install a clean version of Windows. You will then have to reinstall your programs (NOT k-lite ) and put all your files back on the machine.

After Effects CC won't import short video files
I have a project with hundreds of h.264 videos, some of which are only 1 or 2 frames in length. When I try to import these short files, AE freezes and I have to force quit the application.
I have a project file created with an older version of After Effects with these files already imported, and AE CC can't open these files, and hangs whenever I access any comps with the files in them. This was not a problem with the previous version of AE, and I've temporarilly gotten around the issue by running a trial of AE CS 5.5, but I don't have a serial for it and the trial is going to expire soon. I'm not sure what the problem is. Is there a way to correct this problem?
I'm using macbook pro, with OS 10.9.2, and all Adobe CC software is up to date. The same issue appears to happen when I try importing a small sampling of these files into Media Encoder. After dragging the files over, the program just beachballs, doesn't appear to be importing the files, and the program is not responding.

This happens every time i try to import any kind of file. And I'm running the trial version of AE btw.
Now heres the things i have already tried.
1)Reinstalling After Effects repeatedly.
2)updating quick time
3)Deleting the pref file
4)removed any and all plug-ins
5)Deleted the OpenGL file
6)changed by screen resolution.
7)closed down anti-virus programs
8)Tried various ways of importing files, like drag and drop
9)tried importing different files.
10)Restarting my computer after attempting the all above^
I have also been to the general specialist website already thank you very much.
Edit: Now i have also tried uninstalling quick time and all of the video codec packs on my computer, this also didn't help (i did remember to restart afterwards)
Edit: Also, i started a new thread because nothing in any of the other threads on this same or similar errors was at all helpful to me.
edit3: i might also add that i have after effects 6.5 and it works just fine, though its much older. You can contact Adobe Technical Support for help with issues like this. After effects CS3 crash when importing
Hello
First sorry for my bad English :x
For few weeks, my AE CS3 crash when I import something: .avi .mov .jpg ...
I can open .aep, make compositions or create solids but importation always crash AE :s
I have already uninstall/install AE 10 times and try at least 5 different versions of Quick time
I hope you can help meI delete this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\"My Name"\Application Data\Adobe\After Effects\8.0\
But after effect still crash :/
I have opened an old project file, everything works fine except the preview: After effect crash:
After Effect Debug Event
After effect has encountered an error:
[..\..\Src\Importer\FileImporter.cpp-1099] -
After Effects CC freezes when importing PSD files
Version 12.2.1 of after Effects no longer imports Photoshop's PSD files (Photoshop 14.2.1 x64).
The last project I worked on was on 7th March 2014. Today is the 28th March 2014. What could have happened in the intervening three weeks I wonder?
An update to AE I'm guessing...
Is this a known problem?
Is there a fix?
How do I report this to Adobe?
Thanks in anticipation.
JamesHi Rick,
I made sure the images are RGB, but I don't know what simple means. Nor do I know how to make them the same size as the comp (composition?). I saved the images as Tif and PNGs and they imported without crashing. I literally have just opened to the first chapter of After Effects: Classroom in a Book, so please bear with me.
When I first imported a Photoshop file, AE crashed with this alert:
After Effects Alert
Last log message was: <140735304074000>
<SyncService> <4> CheckConnection: 3.
Generating crash log, which may take a few minutes.
(Updated errors below)
As I mentioned, I'm following the instructions for lesson 1 in the Adobe book, After Effects CC: Classroom in a Book. The first few steps are to import a group of files. I import the footage files first, then when I try the .psd file, AE crashes.
Here are my specs:
AE CC 2014 Version 13.0.2.3
OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
iMac 21" late 2009
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
12 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB (I installed the CUDA driver on another account of this iMac--should only need to be done once, no matter whose account, right?)
Connected over wifi to a Belkin router.
UPDATE:
I switched my wifi connection to the 5 GHz band and tried again (since some online searches seemed to indicate this error message had to do with TCP) and got a new error when trying to import the .psd file:
<ALOG> <5> PSL AE Interface Cache Cache
created: /Users/[myname]/Documents/Lesson01/Assets/bgwtext.psd.
UPDATE:
Switched to ethernet, got the same <ALOG> <5> PSL message, switched back to 2.4 GHz wifi and still get the same message. I cannot replicate the first SyncService error message.
The Adobe Creative Cloud is connected to the Internet and can download other Adobe applications, however Photoshop Elements 6 shows a "No Internet connection" message when I try to update it. Adobe Acrobat Reader updates fine. I have also tried to import the file in with Root enabled, but to no avail.

IPhoto 6 stops responding when importing from R717
I have a new MacBook Pro and migrated all my photos from iPhoto 6 on my old machine. When I plug in my HP R717 camera, which I have always used, iPhoto doesn't import the photos, but stops responding.
I've looked in Preferences but I cannot find anything that I should have done.
Any ideas anybody please?casualkid
Thanks for all the detail in your query.
Try using a USB card reader and see if the card will mount on the desktop. Copy the files to your desktop and import them from there.
Also, install Perian
Finally, have you tried the Canon site for updated drivers for your camera?

Premiere 11 crashes when importing large video files
I am running Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 8. When I attempt to use "Add Media" to import a 1 hour and 15 minute .wmv from my harddrive, Premiere freezes up and is forced to quit. There is no error message or anything, it simply locks up and becomes unresponsive until I force quit it. I have tested other .wmv files made by the same software (a game recording program) which are much shorter and they have imported without any trouble. My assumption is that the issue has to do with the length of the file, then. Any ideas?
My computer:
64-bit Microsoft Windows 8 Pro
Processor
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM)
16.0 GB
Video Card
AMD Radeon HD 7900 SeriesThanks for your response. The file was created with a program called D3DGear. It is capable of recording in other video formats, but I haven't attempted to use any of them yet. This and another .wmv from the same program both fail to import into Premiere Elements 11, both over an hour in length. Other, shorter .wmv files created by the program work fine.
The computer is only a couple of months old, so everything is up-to-date and should be pretty optimized.
Below is what I got out of the MediaInfo program. I've never used it before so hopefully this is what you need.

After Effects stops rendering when I jump to another application, like a browser
I'm a long time AE user. I've never seen this issue.
When I start a composition to fully render, it's fine until I jump to another application and let it work in the background.
As soon as I click off of AE, I get the "job finished chime" and it shows a completed render up to the point that it was at at the time I jumped off.
On a side issue, but might be related, AE "auto hides" when I click off to another application, rather than stay on screen.
I'm working on an iMac with Yosemite 10.10.1 OS.AE CS6 and later versions can all run on Yosemite. Each has its own problems with the OS. If you haven't updated AE, you need to do so to get the fix for Yosemite.

After Effects stops working when I install PS CS6
Sorry if there is a lack of info but I will try and describe my problem the best I can. Also sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section
Its happened twice now and both times I have had to do a system restore to fix the problem because an uninstall doesn't fic the problem.
When I try and open AE I get multiple boxes pop up that say the same thing, something about a BIB 32:::2 error ( not sure if thats the exact thing )
I hope this is something that can be fixed
I have AE working as of now since I don't have CS6 on my computer but I would really like to try it out and still be able to use AE at the same timeYou are using Beta software. That's all that needs saying. Problems are to be expected and it says so in the various disclaimers. And indeed this is not the right place - that's what the PS CS6 public Beta forum is for. Still, even they are going to need some system info which you failed to provide. On a more general note this could be related to hardware acceleration features, but really, ask in the proper place.

After Effects CS5.5 Stops responding when I import .mov files from VideoCopilot
Okay so I have a personal movie project that is in my mind so I opened After Effects and wanted to import an explosion.mov file to the video clip from Action Essentials. It worked a month ago but now for some reason right when I import the .mov clip, it crashes... I have After Effects CS4 and CS5.5 and when I import the same exact .mov file to CS4, it works. I have the latest version of quicktime, can anyone help me? Here is a video link for the problem: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60JqDeMJBmo&feature=youtu.be
First off, my system specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600k CPU @ 3.40 GHz (8 CPUs)
Memory: 12 GB Corsair Vengeance 12288MB RAM
GPU: Nvidia GTX 580 Superclocked SLI (x2)
DirectX: DirectX11
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate
After Effects CS5.5 Version 10.5, I installed all the recent updates, the footage I was using was from video copilot, I didn't get any error messages when I put the footage in, After Effects just freezes up when I put the footage in. I was using Adobe Bridge in the background to import the clips, but I also tried importing in a different way by just plainly dragging and dropping the clips from the folder, I have not downloaded any third party codecs.
I've tried the troubleshooting, all of the solutions in the link you gave me, but none of them worked, I turned off the firewall. You can see what happens when I import the .mov clips in After Effects in the video link on the very first post of this thread. But suprisingly, the .mov files work in CS4 but not in CS5.5. -
After Effects CS6 freezing when I import
Hey.
I have a problem with my After Effects. Everytime I import something, a few seconds after my mouse turns into "the spinning ball of death", and I can't do anything but forcequit out of After Effects. Then the next time I open AE, I hang on "Initializing Mediacore", but I know how to fix that. I have 10.8.2 Mountain Lion, and my Application Manager says that all of my Adobe programs are up to date (I'm running CS6). I run the trial version, and I'm thinking of buying it in a couple of days, just so you know I have the trial.
I am open to any kind of help, I have not uninstalled/reinstalled, and I have not tested with other footage than from my SONY HD Camera, and I've also tried with a Premiere Pro Sequence.
Thanks.I found the problem. For some reason my camera records in 24.5 fps (very weird?), so after I changed that it worked. Except one thing, .mov files doesn't work. And let me answer those questions for you:
I use After Effects CS6 11.0.2.11, I'm using Mac OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2, I'm trying to import .mov files, but it wouldn't work (that's my problem), so I changed to .mp4, but I would rather use .mov. Whenever I play the footage, whenever it shows up on the preview screen, my AE freezes. I do not use any thirdparty effects or codecs. My Mac-specs are:
3,4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB memory and an AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB Graphicscard.
Rest is just no, except the last one. I make a new comp and import files. Now, if I preview the imported file, my AE freezes, but only if it's a .mov file. And if I drag it into my timeline, it can stay there, but when I try to RAM preview or play it, it freezes.
Hope this can help you find a solution. -
After I upgraded my Mac with Yosemite, Photoshop Elements 12 Editor stops responding when you use some tools like eraser, clone stamp.
This should help. Photoshop Elements doesn't respond when you use editing tools in Mac OS X 10.10

IPhoto '11 not responding when importing from Canon S90 with videos
Hi,
I have a recurring problem attempting to import photos/videos with iPhoto '11. If the memory card only has images, they import properly when using my card reader, but if there are also videos taken with my Canon S90, then the import hangs. Even if I force quit, iPhoto will continue to hang until the computer is rebooted. I also use a Nikon D200 and have never had any issues importing, though that camera does not take video.
Oddly, if I first copy my memory card to my desktop and then import from there (rather than using the card reader) then it will import.
Any suggestions? How big are the files? Iphoto has alwys baulked at importing large videos from the Card directly.
Regards

After i upgrade to lion and updated logic pro to version 9.1.6 stops responding when loading "Ryu Chords" it stops responding on certain moment, i tried to reinstall freshly and update to version 9.1.5 but problem same so at this moment version is 9.1.6. I tried 64bit too but no changes. And the thing is that i need studio and i need to sort this problem quick.
Please everybody if you had same problem give me answer or any idea what to do
ThanksThe sample rate is not 128 or so, you probably mean the buffer size...
But the performance drop makes sense: switching between a 64 bit process and 32 bit doesn't come free: it cost performance and creates a jitter, which also either shows as performance lost or instability.
You really have to move away from outdated 32 bit AudioUnits, sorry. Ask the vendors to finally release 64 bit versions, it has been several years since 64 bit is available. -
RoboHelp freezing when importing large word docs
What are your experiences with RoboHelp for HTML Help when
importing large Word docs?
Mine seems to stop responding and has to be restarted. Also,
creating PDFs for large docs seems to be a problem.
While I am here, could someone please answer these questions:
1. Does RoboHelp support conditional inclusion/exclusion and
replacement of text? Where you can use a condition to display one
text OR another.
2. Does Robo support Modular Help?
3. What about automating output generation using batch files?
Is this possible?
4. Can PDF outputs be customized using templates?
it looks like Robo offers partial solutions to each of the
above questions but I will like to hear your experiences, as I am
on evaluation the tool with limited time.
TIA.Hi zmajwa and welcome to the community

Windows 7 with CS4 and PSD Icons
Hi, I have Windows 7 64bit, Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop 7 (for back-up). I know that Photoshop 7 allowed thumbnail previews on PSD's but that was taken out so CS4 is just a custom icon, but Windows 7 doesn't seem to really get what to do with either
