After Effects text camera tracking problem

Hey everyone,
I have some trouble with creating the effect of having some text in a clip, appearing to be floating in the shot ("3D").
In the scene, I have filmed a large area (inside of a church) from one position, only letting the camera film from left to right (fixed position, variable rotation). After importing this clip and applying the 3D camera tracking effect, I have added a text-layer, made this a 3D layer, and manoeuvred in the desired position. But, when playing this scene, the text drifts/jerks a bit (a bit upwards, a downwards..). I thought, maybe the position only "looks" correct, but is not the actual position. So, after trying different positions, but still having the text appearing to be in the same spot, this still doesn't solve the problem of having the text not fixed to the position.
Another thing I tried was using other Camera solving programs, Boujou and Blender, and importing the camera into AE. This still gives the same problem, and the tracking point of every track seems to be perfect. So, if the camera is more or less solved correctly, what else can cause my text layer to wiggle/drift during the shot?
I'm quite new to this, so any help would be welcome. And, if more info is needed, please let me know!

Oooh, that's not good.  I doubt the trip through AME included a frame rate conversion.  Unless you were making slo-mo video, you didn't conform the video to 24fps.  You probably have a hot mess of mixed frame rates that aren't helping your cause at all -- and 50 to 24 is particularly messy.
So why did you go from 50fps to 24fps?  Any other reason than the film frame rate is supposed to look cool?  And if you wanted supposedly-cool 24fps, why did you shoot 50 in the first place?

  • Tracking C4D model in After Effects with Camera Tracker

Hello, I have a problem positioning my C4D object in my After Effects Comp for camera tracking.  I create a comp with video footage that I then track camera. I choose a bullseye and position it where I would
like the C4D object to be placed. I right click the bullseye and 'Set Ground Plane and Orgin'. I then place the C4D object in the comp and set the Cineware Camera to 'Comp Camera'. Now, the C4D object is placed where I
placed the bullseye, but it is very very small. I can hardley see it. How do I bring the object closer to the 3D Tracker Camera before the camera starts to move? Or do I bring the 3D Tracker Camera closer to
the object before the camera starts to move. I also tried 'Center Comp Camera' but then the small C4D object disappears and goes off screen. I appreciate any replies. Thanks alot.

Simply scale the object/scene in C4D.

  • Adobe After Effects-Text problem

    Hello!
Recently,I wanted to start learning how to make a kinetic typography videos. When I try to add text, the text looks like this:
    Screenshot by Lightshot
I have to say,I am a begginer in using after effects,so any advices are wellcomed.:)

Your comp viewer is at 1600%. Turn it back to 100% and all will be well.
And my advice to every beginner is to go through this: Getting started with After Effects It may look like a daunting wall of text, but it's not nearly as daunting as trying to poke at AE without it. Take each link one at a time and you will eventually have a solid foundation in how to use AE. AE is not like Photoshop or Premiere where you can just click around and eventually you'll figure it out. It takes a while to learn (and I don't just mean a few hours).

  • After Effects Text missing from project view (yet renders)

I am new to the CC but have played with Adobe in earlier versions (mostly CS3).  I have purchased some project files from videoden to give me a starting point (I learn best when playing with something that already works, picking it apart and rebuilding).  Only problem is, the text is never visible when I work.
When I open the project it says:  "the project must be converted from version 9.0 (windows).  The original file will remain unchanged"  There are no font dependency issues reported.  When I open a text layer I can see a rectangle, but not the letters.  I read on the forum that the cache can cause problems.  I emptied it, rebooted and started over, still same problem.
So it is the project that is corrupt, right?  Wrong.  Even when I make my own, add Arial (or some generic font like that all systems have) it wont show up on screen either.  And even the project I was having problems with, when I render it the fonts appear properly.
Is there some view that does not show fonts in text areas?
I am running 8gm ram, win 7, Lenovo, with After Effects CC

  • CS4 After Effects / Illustrator Scaling Fonts Problem

I created an Adobe Illlustrator file consisting of three layers of text at three font sizes, 1296, 72, and 6 points on a WIndows Vista machine with CS4 (all updates) using the Impact font with no mods.  Then I used it in After Effects to create an 1280/720 pixel annimation that scales in from the largest font to the smallest.  I have Antialiasing set to More Accurate in Interpret Footage and PAR is not set in the Timeline.  As you can see from the example, it renders well to a point, then it begins to pixelate. I have reproduced the problem in several other scenarios.
However, when I create the same annimation in After Effects, using the same Impact font, I get smooth fonts from small to large, see below.  Obviously, I am doing something wrong, wither when I import the ai file into AE (I have tried importing it as Footage and as Vector Art), or I am creating the .ai incorrectly (just using defaults).
    I apprecriate your help!

Yes, thank you, Mylenium!  The results are seen in this clip.

  • After effects text pixelated

    hi
for some reason type text are in after effects the text will become pixalted does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    thanks andy

I fixed my problem. The answer is sort of confusing so contact me if you have questions.
    Premeire problem -
I had slightly moved the text panels by simply clicking and dragging to a different position. They were graphics with a transparent background so I could simply grab and move it a hair to be in a better place asthetically in premiere. I had done this in CS4 and when exported it didn't have any effect on the quality. I figured out that if I clicked on the little fx icon next to the motion effect it would turn off the effect and move the object back to its original spot. Keep in mind this was just barely move any of these. For some reason after exporting I can now go back in and click it back on which moves it back and it looks fine like it did in CS4. This is a goofy problem. There must be enough of a difference between the two versions that you have to do any moving using the CS5. I was really pulling my hair out.
    AE problem -
I had the open GL previews selected and render simultaneous frames selected and it created a reduced resolution preview.
    My Players Problem -
All of my players were set to resize the video to the size of the screen on startup and since I am outputting to SD on a 28in. 1080p monitor it was looking pixilated in my players because it was just slightly too big.
The biggest part for me was that even though I was creating the text new in AE I was replacing existing footage in premeire which was keeping the original position settings which I had moved. I know this is probably confusing but I did find the answer to my problems.

  • After Effects CS5 DNxHD rendering problems

Hello folks, I posted this last month, but still haven't worked it out.  My problem is that everytime I try to render a quicktime from After Effects CS5 using Avid's DNxHD codec, I get this error, about 60 - 100 frames in:  "Rendering error while writing to file (path name here). An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464)  I've tried rendering to different drives, rendering with and w/out multiprocessing, with and w/out Open GL rendering, different comps / projects, and different flavors of the DNxHD codec (8 bit, 10bit, 145, 220, etc).  Here's my basic system specs:
    Win 7 Pro 64bit
    Dual 6 core Westmere Processors
    48GB Ram
    Quadro FX 3800 1.5GB (driving 2 x 24" HP monitors)
GeForce GT 240 (driving a Cintiq tablet)
I have another system, same operation system, but with dual quad core Nehalem's and 16GB Ram and a Quadro FX 3400 and it renders to DNxHD just fine.  I'm certain I have the latest codecs from Avid, and I've tried both the LE and PE versions.  Any thoughts?
    Nate

It's a bug in the CoDec itself, if I'm not mistaken. I've seen this being discussed somewhere, but can't remember the full details. I believe the issue oils down to the Avid stuff using an older version of some compiler library and not dealing correctly with some SSE stuff on some processors. You may try to toy around with the BIOS settings to suppress SSE4 and 4.1 and see if it helps. Also consider installing the .NET runtimes. They still have those magical healing poweers, as the install resolves any version conflicts that may exist with outdated system DLLs bundled with some programs. That may also help. In the long run, though, I think Avid will just have to update DNx to properly work on 64bit and those new processors...

  • Adobe After Effects CS4 trial installation problem, Please Help!

Ok, I downloaded the trail version of Adobe After Effects CS4 onto my PC (Windows XP). When I try to run the setup (by double-clicking it), a window pops up saying 'Adobe setup has encountered a problem and needs to close.' Does anyone know why this is, and how I might be able to fix it? I already tried re-downloading it, and I checked the system requirements. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE ME BECAUSE I REALLY WANT TO USE THIS! If it will help here are my PC's specs:
Operating System - Windows XP with service pack 3
    RAM - 2.0GB
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4830
    Processor - Intel Core 2 Dual 2.2GHz
    Monitor Resolution - 1280x1024
    Thanks

    Verify the following:
    a) you run as administrator
    b) your virus scanner and firewall don't interfere
    c) you have enough temporary disk space
    d) no other tools are interfering
For b), simply turn those tools off during install. For c), check your user temp directory (C:\Documents and Settings\You\Local Settings\Temp). Clean it out either manually or using tools like CCleaner. Also defragment your drive. For d), you may need to uninstall otehr Adobe software. also monitor your task manager for processes and services that may have a negative impact. A dump of those can easily be generated using HijackThis!, so you can post the list here for verification, if needed. also provide any otehr info that could be important, like e.g. special drivers or user settings.

Alternately if you wish to view review the log file manually the steps listed in Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.

  • After Effects: MP RAM Vorschau Problem bei Frame-Interpolationen

    Hallo Zusammen,

  • After Effects won't close/Problems with dynamic links

When I quit After Effects the icon still shows up and it says that it is still open, even force quit will not work. Also having problems with dynamically linked files between after effects and Premiere pro. Rendering in Premiere doesn't work unless I go to AE, save the project, then go back to Premiere. I have OSX Mavericks 10.9.2, a late 2012 mac pro, and AE CC 12.2.1.5

Kevin: would appreciate further thoughts on this.
I am using Pr2014, version 8.0.0 I am using AE2014, version 13.0.2.3. When I was on earlier versions of each, I had no problem importing AE comps into Pr. I'd choose import in Pr, then select the AE project, then select the comp. But with my new and improved versions of AE and Pr, I keep getting "importer reported a generic error."
I also tried to go the other way. I selected in Pr the clips I wanted to work on in AE, and then tried "replace with AE comp" but got the "generic error" message again..
Finally, I attempted to create a Dynamic Link from Pr via the File menu, but with each of the options from there, I got "failed to connect to AE Dynamic Link"
Any advice you can share, would be most welcome.

  • After Effects Lossless AVI Export Problems

    Hi,
I have a very strange problem that only occurs sometimes. It is kind of hard to explain, so bare with me.
I'll just explain my process first:
I import and edit all my video files in premiere pro CS5.5. Then I import my Premiere Pro Project into After Effects CS5.5 for Color Grading. While I scrub through my footage everything looks fine.
I then Add my Comp to the Render queue, and select Best Settings, and Lossless AVI with Audio Output.
After the footage renders, I watch it and every now and then a frame will be inserted from at least 7 frames up into the current time. This makes the footage look choppy/jumpy. Example: The character is walking and for one frame he will jump a couple inches forward, and the next frame he will be back again.
This might happen a couple times in a row or every other shot. I thought maybe my computer was just playing it slow in Windows Media Player - but I imported the Lossless AVI file into Premiere Pro to play it in that, and it still has the same problem.
I don't know what the problem is. I would just like my AE Comp to output smoothly without adding those extra frames on my footage.
    Here's an example image:
If any of you could please help me, that would be great! Thanks!
    COMPUTER INFO:
    PC: HP Elite 7000 MT
    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

    Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU   860 @ 2.80GHz 2.80GHz
    Installed Memory (RAM): 16.0 GB
    Graphics Card: GeForce G210
    Graphics Clock: 589MHz
    Processor Clock: 1402MHz
    Hope that helps!

    Szalam
Okay, I just made a bunch of tests.
    1) I converted an .MTS file to an .AVI with the Lagarith codec. Then I imported that into AE. When I RAM Previewed it, I did not get the jump from frame to frame thing.
    2) I also imported the same video file, only an .MTS version and RAM Previewed that. Again, I did not have the problem I have been having.
    3) I made a new Premiere Pro Sequence and imported the same .MTS file I had been using. Then I went to AE and imported that Premiere Pro project (trying to go through the steps that got me to the problem in the first place), and tried RAM previewing that. Again, I did not have the problem I had been getting.
So I obviously cannot re-create my issue. But the issue is still there in my other AE project. If I open up my AE Project that I had the problem with in the first place, I still get the jumpy frame issue when I preview it!
I even tried creating a new AE project (willing to re-color grade all my footage), hoping that the problem would not be there. But when I create the new AE project and import my Premiere Pro project, the issue is still there.
Is there something wrong with my Premiere pro project? When I play my premiere pro project without it going to AE it works fine, no issue. But when I import it into AE the issue is there!
It has to be the Premiere Pro Project or the sequences in that project. Since, like I said above in test number 3: " I made a new Premiere Pro Sequence. Then I went to AE and imported that Premiere Pro sequence, RAM previewed that. And I did not have the problem."
What is going on? Will re-editing my entire project in a whole new Premiere Pro project fix my issue? What if it doesn't, and this happens again? How do I fix this?
I really appreciate your help. I'm glad there is a place to go when I have a problem with Adobe Programs. I would never be able to figure this out by myself. Thanks!
