After Effects won't launch fully

I recently purchased the Master Collection of CS4 I did custom install and only unticked one or two of the main programs included. When I go to launch After Effects the load screen runs then stops after 2 seconds and then it has that error noise for Windows but no message. Fireworks is unable to launch as well for me (but actually has an error message) and I wasn't sure if that was related. I have Windows Xp. And I've been reading around seeing that people were saying to get an update but I don't have a Mac so I wasn't sure if I needed that. Right now I'm uninstalling and see if I reinstall without the custom install if it works, but it just takes forever to install and I only need the programs I unticked on another laptop.

Computer? Graphics card? Does your XP have all the service packs and other updates? Also, believe it or not, the updates do fix a number of things on PCs, too, so install them.

I downloaded a Creative Cloud Trial. Ready to begin using AE CC2014 it wouldn't launch on my PC that meets all specs. I restarted my computer, contacted support to which I lent my computer screen to who after doing several things I'd already done told me the file was corrupted and that I should uninstall and reinstall and restart my computer. I took the time to do that --again, and it still won't launch...any help here for getting it to launch. When I click on AE, it simply spins for about 4 seconds then stops. HELP!

You are losing yourself in vagueries. "My PC meets all specs" How should anyone tell you anything and verify this without exact system info? The rest we can't know, either, since you haven't provided any details from your crash logs or the Creative Cloud logs.

After Effects won't start Media Encoder

I'm trying to render from After Effects through Adobe Media Encoder, but the link will not work. I tried using Ctrl+Alt+M, and I tried opening it from the drop down menu. AE simply won't work with AME.
It worked before I upgraded to CC 2014, and I can still render out of AME through Premiere CC 2014.

Larchuck on another thread suggested this and it helped me as well. He was using windows 8 and I, 7, but it worked

Under Compatibily Tab I checked "Run this program in compatibily mode for:" and selected windows 8
Hit apply
AME opens.
I went back to the Compatibilty Tab and unchecked "Run this program in compatibily mode for:" and I also clicked the button above it (Run compatibility troubleshooter)...went through its process and AME is woking again.
Turning it off again didn't work for me though so I'm leaving it on

After Effects won't run after upgrading to Yosemite

Hi there,
My After Effects CS6 ill not launch in my other user accounts since I've upgraded to Yosemite. I have installed the plugin/update that was released and it works in the Administrator account, however, not on the others. Even when I go into the accounts themselves and install it and restart, I have the same problem. This is a lab for students so I cannot delete the accounts and start over as they all have work on these accounts. How can I resolve this problem?

Mp4 from After Effects won't play on iPad Air

I have a series of mp4 vids - some are exported from Premiere, others, After Effects - CS6 Win7 x64.
They all play in iTunes, but the vids from AE won't play on the iPad. Even when I sync them the iPad identifies them as unplayable.
Any ideas what could cause this?

There's a million different things that could be wrong with your MP4 settings. You'll need to post all the compression parameters for anyone to assess the problem properly.
The easiest solution, and one which will give you better quality video anyway, is to use Adobe Media Encoder to do your compressions, rather than After Effects. It has iPad presets built right in, too.

QuickTime Files rendered from After Effects won't open

I currently have QuickTime version 7.6. Files that I download from elsewhere or that I view in the FireFox plugin online play just fine. However, files rendered from After Effects CS3 (I prefer MPEG-4 codec, but I just tried and Sorenson 3 won't do it either) will not play in FireFox's plugin and they won't open QuickTime when I double-click them in Explorer. They will only open in the QT player if I already have the player open. Otherwise, I have to open them in VLC. I much prefer the QT player and I don't want to have to open it first to view my files. Any thoughts on what's going wrong here? This has only started in the past month or so.
Other people can view the files just fine, it's just my computer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times now and have updated my video drivers, to no avail. I've also installed Avast! Antivirus and run a boot-time virus scan, but no lick there either.

I wouldn't have a clue from here on, it could be anything. The key would be, if you could recall what changes were made to the computer during the time the problem surfaced. I'm not familiar with After Effects C3S but I'd disable it from loading at start-up if it does, and try QT again, but that's just a pure guess, based on the EventType error numbers, that are somewhat familiar with memory load

Be sure that you are signed in and have activated the software—i.e., ensure that you are not running After Effects in free trial mode. The update will not work if you are running the application in trial mode. Sign in to Creative Cloud using any Adobe Creative Cloud application on your computer to activate all Adobe Creative Cloud applications on that computer.
Tip: If you’re not using a trial version, but you’re seeing the message that the update is not applicable, try one of these tips to force the application to be recognized as activated: Sign out of and then back in to Creative Cloud to refresh the activation state. Also, launching the After Effects render engine (not the full After Effects application) can refresh the activation; the render engine doesn’t have the crashing problem that the full unpatched application does. Finally, if neither of these works, uninstalling and then re-installing After Effects CC (12.0) can help.

After Effects won't start

downloaded the trial from cloud, it works fine untill I restart my computer, cloud still works fine but when I try to open after effects it simply won't run. double clicking does nothing, the icon is basically a waste of space after i restart my computer. I also notice that after I restart cloud always has an update to fix the bugs in after effects cc, but that doesn't help the start-up either. Can anyone help? thanks!

After Effects Won't Import ANYTHING!

So I just got After Effects ( which I was REALLY looking forward to! ). However, after installation, I tried importing a few different video files, all with the same problem... AE8 crashes! It won't even import pictures! Anyone got any ideas?

Application Data is a system directory and should by default other programs to write data at the system level. You can verify so by checking the directories properties. Right-click, choose "Properties", then go to the security tab. There should be an entry called "SYSTEM" and it should have full access. if that's the case, then the only thing I can think of is some security tool (virus scanner, firewall) having a hold over the directory and files. Temporarily turning of this tool or adjusting its surveillance settings to not monitor certain file types and directories should allow you to rectify the issue. Perhaps such a thing was even the initial reason for your troubles...

HELP!! AFTER EFFECTS WON'T INSTALL!

I recently bought the CS3 Production Premium Suite. I had the trial version of AE3, now when I try to install the Suite it says "Cannot install After Effects CS3 because it conflicts with After Effects CS3." The other After Effects is already uninstalled, anyone know why it is doing this or how to fix it?

Yes and no. Unfortunately ever since AE7 the installer creates an entire spiderweb of logfiles, references and shared components, so removing one will not necessarily fix the other. You could try removing any Registry keys that reference AE7 and delete all the Adobe shared components and the installer may be tricked into launching again, but be aware that this is experimental and at your own risk. You might have a hell of a time. In the grander scheme of things it would be simpler to completely nuke the system and reinstall Windows and all other programs from scratch. BTW, if you hadn't uninstalled so quickly, the problem probably could have been "fixed" by simply deleting the prefs...

Adobe after effects won't open on new computer

I recently bought the MacBook Pro A few months a you days ago I purchased Adobe after effects were installed onto my computer it would not run it said new software had to be installed on my Mac book but it is running at its best with no updates it said i need A version with a OS X and then at the bottom it says you have Adobe after effects CS6 11.0.

You need to install the most recent updates for After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) or After Effects CC (12.2.1) to use them on Mac OSX v10.9 (Mavericks):

After Effects won't import any animation presets from Bridge.

I just installed Creative Cloud. It seems to be working fine, except that when I try to apply Animation Presets into After Effects through Bridge, it gives me an error message saying "Can't import file xxx.fxx: unsupported filtype or extension"
I'm not trying to import a "file" or anything.... simply trying to apply an animation preset to a video clip on an AE timeline. Never had any issues doing this with CS5. Anyone know what's going on?

After Effects won't load my media.

Hi guys. My name is Andrew. I am kind of new film maker, (i still have a lot to learn). Anyway, i have recently working on a project in After Effects CS4. Basically i shot some scenes with two different cameras. My Camera is writing in a format with extension ".m2ts", and my friend's camera is writing in a format with extension ".mpg". Well i used to convert those files in ".avi" extension so i could work in After Effects, but i am losing a little bit of the quality of my media. So once i tried to import directly to After Effects. I was surprised because it actually worked, with no problems i was working with my project. One day my After Effects Crashed, and i reinstalled it. When i opened my project again, everything was good instead that i got a message telling me that After Effects couldn't open ".m2ts" and ".mpg" Files. Since then i don't know what to do. Any help is better than nothing

Thank you all, for your help that you provided me. My problem is solved. After I finished using the tool “Mylenium” gave me, I tried to import my “.m2ts” files, but they still had problems. Then I restarted my system and opened the Adobe Master Collection CS4 Installer, when the process for my system check finished the installer didn’t find that After Effects were still on my system. So the tool that “Mylenium” gave me removed after effects from registry. I simply installed After Effects, Photoshop, Premier Pro and Bridge from Custom installation, and it seems like the installer overwrite the after effects files. After the successful installation, I ran After Effects and tried to import again “.m2ts” file. And then it worked. Now I can import directly my files to after effects.
Thank you “Mylenium” for the tool and thank you “Dave LaRonde” for your advice, I will use it in the future.

Yes it will.
CS6 (After Effects versoin 11) and CC (After Effects version 12) both run on Mavericks just fine.
You will need to update them to get them to work though. CS6 should be updated to 11.0.4 and CC should be updated to 12.2.0.
