After Effects won't start Media Encoder

I'm trying to render from After Effects through Adobe Media Encoder, but the link will not work. I tried using Ctrl+Alt+M, and I tried opening it from the drop down menu. AE simply won't work with AME.
It worked before I upgraded to CC 2014, and I can still render out of AME through Premiere CC 2014.

Larchuck on another thread suggested this and it helped me as well. He was using windows 8 and I, 7, but it worked
Get Properties on the AME .exe
Under Compatibily Tab I checked "Run this program in compatibily mode for:" and selected windows 8
Hit apply
AME opens.
I went back to the Compatibilty Tab and unchecked "Run this program in compatibily mode for:" and I also clicked the button above it (Run compatibility troubleshooter)...went through its process and AME is woking again.
Turning it off again didn't work for me though so I'm leaving it on

  • Why will After Effects not export to Media Encoder?

After Effects cannot export to Media Encoder. I've tried to queue it within After Effects (nothing happens,) I've tried to import it from within Media Encoder (it hangs on a loading dialogue forever,) and I've tried restarting my computer. All to no avail. I've also tried multiple AE projects. And yes, I've made sure I am viewing the queue in Media Encoder. Any clues?

    Ok.
Running Adobe Creative Cloud, latest versions on both After Effects and Media Encoder. As for render settings, I never get to that part. When I export to render in Media Encoder, nothing happens. Here are the settings for one of the compositions and projects I was trying to export:

  • After Effects Not Sending To Media Encoder

Media Encoder just stop working? It loads I can click though the menu, but it just won't load ae files for compression? I have been using the Media Encoder for the last few weeks and just like that it stops working, I hate these Cloud based apps.

  • Importing video into After effects, premiere pro and media encoder result in freezing

I have been trying to import a 17 minute long mp4 video shot with a go-pro into after effects and premiere pro with the result of the program locking up each time. My next thought was try to import it into media encoder and change the file format but it is causing media encoder to lock up as well. Any thoughts would be sincerely appreciated

Sounds like something might be fishy with the video file.  You might try converting with different software, which can often be more forgiving than Adobe tools.

  • Moving After Effects Output Templates into Media Encoder

With the introduction of the CC apps, Adobe is encouraging users to export most content through the Adobe Media Encoder application. I'm happy to make the switch if it helps my overall workflow.
As part of moving over to the AME for all things in After Effects, I was hoping I could export all of my custom Output Module Templates to AME, as many of them are being used in an ongoing basis for existing projects, and I'd hate to have to configure the settings from scratch in AME.
I've been able to export the .aom file using (Save All) from AE. But haven't been successful importing those into Adobe Media Encoder as a preset.
Does anyone have a proceedure for this?
    Thanks!
    Stephen

There is no automated way to do this.
Just to be clear on what we're encouraging:
We are encouraging you to move all of your H.264, MPEG-2, and Flash Video output to Adobe Media Encoder. In other words, you should be creating files intended for distribution (for playback on the web, mobile devices, or television) using Adobe Media Encoder.
The After Effects render queue is still the right tool for creating image sequences and other outputs that serve as intermediate files to be exchanged between post-production applications, for mastering, for archiving, and other purposes that don't require encoding to a highly compressed format for playback/delivery.

  • After Effects won't start

downloaded the trial from cloud, it works fine untill I restart my computer, cloud still works fine but when I try to open after effects it simply won't run. double clicking does nothing, the icon is basically a waste of space after i restart my computer. I also notice that after I restart cloud always has an update to fix the bugs in after effects cc, but that doesn't help the start-up either. Can anyone help? thanks!

Without system information, all this is useless.

  • How to change render resolution of After Effects project in Adobe Media Encoder for an H264 preview?

I'd like to render a 1080i comp at half resolution or third resolution in AME to speed up render times for low-res previews. I just had a low-res H264 preview take 5 minutes to encode in AE, and 28 minutes in AME.
This is easily accomplished in the After Effects render settings. However, the "video" option in AME seems to imply the project is encoded at that resolution, not rendered at it.
I went into AE and changed the setting in the composition viewport to "half", but when I queue it up in AME, the "Match Source" button still indicates 1080.
What is the correct method to get the results I want?
I'm currently using AE CC and AME CC on Windows.

Thanks for taking the time to answer this question. Knowing this isn't possible at least narrows my options down. It would be helpful to provide some kind of list of what comp settings carry over into AME from After Effects. Is it essentially everything that is enabled in the Timeline? (I know that motion blur settings do.)
I'll put this in a feature request, but yes, we need the other half of After Effects Render Queue in AME in order for AME to be a good replacement for rendering from AE. I'll give you my thoughts on why Render Settings are essential before you would actually want to render with AME instead of doing so because you have to (either because you want to render in the background, or need a codec that has been removed from AE.)
    1. Speed: Simply applying a Render Settings preset is much faster than manually setting motion blur, frame blending, work area, etc.
    2. Reliability: Not being able to apply a Render Settings preset at the time of render is a recipe for missing a crucial setting buried in a comp, then having to redo a render and wasting time.
    3. Features: As noted above, there is no way to approximate Render Queue's ability to change resolutions at render, which results in a lot of wasted time when that feature is needed.
Render Settings I think are crucial to making AME rendering worthwhile for AE users:
    1. Rendering resolution
    2. Work Area/Entire Composition toggle
    3. Field Rendering (wait, does this mean AME can't currently render to fields?)
    4. And PRESET ability these settings, so I'm not doing them manually every time.
I realize that your team clearly doesn't spend the same amount of time I do making low res H264 previews and sending final files out in H264 format, so you don't appreciate the impact of the changes you made. Moving to AME for that stuff is a real inconvenience, but implementing the settings above could help soften the blow.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

  • After Effects won't start up after 11.0.4 update (Mavericks)

    Hello,
i have just installed After Effects CS6 11.0.0. I'm getting the message that i can't open the program, because it has to be updated. When i did update AE to 11.0.4, the message "The program Adobe After Effects CS6 can not be opened. -10810"
    Anyone???
I did try to install it again, but with no good results..

That's a Mac OS error code that indicates that you have too many processes running. Restart your computer and try again.

  • Why won't Adobe Media Encoder export WMV?

I am using Adobe CS6 Design Standard with Adobe Media Encoder, and I'm trying to export video files to WMV using the Encoder.  I'm am running Windows 8 and for some reason the option to export to WMV does not come up for me.  I only get four options of formats, while online it says I should have many more.  This is a full version of CS6 that I bought and paid for, and every program is up to date.

Can I just buy the converter plugins or do I have to buy premiere pro or after effects?

The formats and codecs available for export through Adobe Media Encoder differ depending on what Adobe applications you have installed. The vast majority depend on the video applications, After Effects or Premiere Pro, being installed.

  • After Effects Hanging on Initializing Media Core

I downloaded the trial for After Effects CC 2014 to make sure it would work on my computer, but when I try to open it the start up screen hangs at initialing media core. I made sure that After Effects was allowed through the firewall, but it's still not working. I want to buy it, but I can't if it won't start. Please help!

I can't promise this will help and I have email from Adobe support that specifically says this won't work and isn't the problem. So if you want to try this, it's just working advice from some shlub who wants the software to work and doesn't care whose feelings are hurt. This response fixes all versions of After Effects and Premiere Pro in the CC and CC 2014 series. The file ExporterAVI.prm is bad. It has had a flaw since around 2013. Now you can fix this taking no chance with your computer or installation, so if you follow this carefully you'll do nothing to hurt your setup and if it doesn't work, just change it back.
Each application has it's separate copy in it's separate folder, so just go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC\Support Files\(Media Core Plug-ins)\Common
Find the file called ExporterAVI.prm and rename it (I always just rename it to ExporterAVI.prmold
Now run After Effects CC. If it loads, you found the problem. If it doesn't rename it back to it's original name and, no harm, no foul.
If it does load, know that you can't export an AVI file. You need a PRM file that works. I always keep one saved. It will work for the CC version and the CC 2014 version. It is from an old copy of the original CC version of both programs.t is 159Kb and dated 8/20/2013. The properties detail tab actually says it was created on 3/27/2012. Every time an update come out that affects this, it will stop working, so just rename it again and put back in the old file and you'll get full functionality. I've had to use it six time since the update after 8/2013, but I have full functionality of all four versions of both programs, but it won't work with the current version of ExporterAVI.prm. So far, that means every time it loads an update, I have to fix the file in the After Effects CC, After Effects CC 2014, Premiere Pro CC and Premiere Pro CC 2014. The same file is used in Prelude, Encore and Media Encoder, but I don't use those programs. so I don't know if they freeze up or not.
Also look at the last entry in your plugin loading.log file, it should say something like:
    Loading E:\Win8\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2014\Support Files\(Media Core plug-ins)\Common\ExporterAVI.prm
Invalid registry entry found so the plugin will be loaded from disk.
    Loading from disk...
and then the log ends and the program freezes.
p.s. If you don't have a copy of the old version of the file, call Adobe, don't ask me - I can't give copies of it to anyone, I just make them because I keep backups before every update.

  • After Effects won't load my media.

Hi guys. My name is Andrew. I am kind of new film maker, (i still have a lot to learn). Anyway, i have recently working on a project in After Effects CS4. Basically i shot some scenes with two different cameras. My Camera is writing in a format with extension  ".m2ts", and my friend's camera is writing in a format with extension ".mpg". Well i used to convert those files in ".avi" extension so i could work in After Effects, but i am losing a little bit of the quality of my media. So once i tried to import directly to After Effects. I was surprised because it actually worked, with no problems i was working with my project. One day my After Effects Crashed, and i reinstalled it. When i opened my project again, everything was good instead that i got a message telling me that After Effects couldn't open ".m2ts" and ".mpg" Files. Since then i don't know what to do. Any help is better than nothing
    Thank you for reading

Thank you all, for your help that you provided me. My problem is solved. After I finished using the tool “Mylenium” gave me, I tried to import my “.m2ts” files, but they still had problems. Then I restarted my system and opened the Adobe Master Collection CS4 Installer, when the process for my system check finished the installer didn’t find that After Effects were still on my system. So the tool that “Mylenium” gave me removed after effects from registry. I simply installed After Effects, Photoshop, Premier Pro and Bridge from Custom installation, and it seems like the installer overwrite the after effects files. After the successful installation, I ran After Effects and tried to import again “.m2ts” file. And then it worked. Now I can import directly my files to after effects.
Thank you “Mylenium” for the tool and thank you “Dave LaRonde” for your advice, I will use it in the future.
God bless you, and the forums communities

  • Mp4 from After Effects won't play on iPad Air

I have a series of mp4 vids - some are exported from Premiere, others, After Effects - CS6 Win7 x64.
They all play in iTunes, but the vids from AE won't play on the iPad.  Even when I sync them the iPad identifies them as unplayable.
Any ideas what could cause this?
    Thanks.

There's a million different things that could be wrong with your MP4 settings.  You'll need to post all the compression parameters for anyone to assess the problem properly.
The easiest solution, and one which will give you better quality video anyway, is to use Adobe Media Encoder to do your compressions, rather than After Effects.  It has iPad presets built right in, too.

  • After Effects Hangs on Initializing Media Core and Only Uses .40 GB or RAM

I actually have either 2 separate issues or one that effects both. The fist one is that once After Effects loads, I generally can't RAM preview for 1080p quality, and about 6-20 frames for 720p, depending on if I get lucky or not. I went into Memory and Multiprocessing in the preference and no matter what I set the RAM per CPU to, the Actual CPUs that will be used is always 0, so then I go to details and it says "Installed RAM: 11.99 GB." "Current RAM Usage: .28 GB" "Allowed RAM Usage: .40GB." Whenever I render a video it always uses up to 3% or 4% of my RAM but never any higher.
    And the second problem...
Whenever I start After Effects CS6 (and it happened in CS5.5) Trials it hangs on Initializing Media Core, for about 5 minutes, then it says Quicktime isn't installed. To fix that problem I have tried everything I could find in the 30+ hours I have spent on that problem. Turning off all firewalls, anti-virus, etc, updating, reinstalling, and everything in between. (Also I see dynamiclinkmanager.exe and  AfterFX.exe but not QT32.exe or PProHeadless.exe which need to be allowed through firewalls and such)
    I'm using After Effects CS6
    Windows 7 64-bit
    12 GB of RAM
Quicktime 7.7.2 and Itunes 10.6.3.25  Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks! ^.^

Ok, well I installed updates to my graphics driver, After Effects, and Windows, and unfortunately nothing worked, but from reading other forums, when I am using After Effects I should see QT32server.exe right? That doesn't show up in processes, but also I installed Premiere Pro to test dynamic link, and I always get an error "Failed to connect to Dynamic Link Manager." and when I hit Ctrl + Enter it says the same thing. ( I actually don't know what that hotkey does ) any ideas at all would be very much appreciated
Edit: I started thinking about it, my driver is an Nvidia GeForce GTS 450, which I didn't see on Adobe's supported list, is this the culprit behind the render problems?

  • After Effects hangs on "initializing Media Core"

I might be off subject here, but my AE CS6 would not complete the start up and simply hang at "INITIALIZING MEDIA CORE".
After finding some info about that, but for CS5, apparently a Quick Time codec problem, I got rid of PERIAN, and all is well now, it start right up.
I am using an old 2007 2.66 dual core, with 9GB and a 5770 graphic card. Not ultra spiffy, but does the job...
