What exact version of AE are you using? CS6, I get, but is it 11.0.4? If not, consider updating.
What OS are you using? Did you update that recently?

CS6 Premiere Pro and After Effects have stopped working :(

After installing the AdobeCS6 I removed CS4 by using the Creative Cleaner Tool. Now Premiere Pro and After Effects don't work and windows wouldn't tell me what the problemm is. The rest of the CS6 is working fine apparently. Do I have to un-install then re-install all the CS6? Is it normal that the CC Cleaner tool do this? ... Thank you!

Advice around these parts is not to remove older versions after you install a newer one, because this is exactly what can happen. If you want to get rid of an older version, do that before you install the new one.
So yes, you may well need to reinstall.

did ae install without problem? check the install logs to be sure (Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC)
if it did, what do you see when clicking the executable?

After Effects freezes when working with footage which is just being rendered

After Effects freezes when working with footage which is just being rendered... this is a bug which was introduced with CS6 and I wonder if this is really so hard to fix. When you are working with footage from a 3d application which is just being rendered (in my case on a small farm via deadline) it has become impossible to work with After Effects. AE freezes for several minutes and only eventually returns to work. I suspect After Effects is reloading newly rendered frames in the background although I have disabled that in the preferences. With CS5 i can work on the frames already rendered without any problems. I filed a bug report about a year ago.

If you don't have Service Pack 1 for Windows, you should get it. No guarantees, but it may help. For the moment, I'd just wait until the 3D renders are complete before importing... there isn't much else you can do at the moment, anyway.
There's only one application I've seen that can reliably, "works-every-time", read media files as they're recorded: Avid Newscutter...but then, it was created to do precisely that. AE wasn't.

Mac Yosemite causes problems for some people, especially for OLDER programs

Ok, so there has to be some other issue, because since I installed it it crashes when trying to download an update... also when I try to run the program I get a message that I can't use it on this system.

Is it possible to make is so that, immediately after I import a new clip into FCP, the file is automatically selected in the Event Library? (Similar to how After Effects and Premiere work).

Is it possible to make is so that, immediately after I import a new clip into FCPX, the file is automatically selected in the Event Library? (Similar to how After Effects and Premiere work). Right now, after I import a new file, I have to then go searching for it amid all the other files in my project. It would be extremely helpful if the file I just imported was already highlighted and selected after import, making it instantly "locatable" and ready to go.

in a perfect world, you do know the recording date, and you simply scroll to that date.
in a very perfect world, all your other imports are already tagged, so just have to create a smart list 'unrated' ...
(I know those messy Events… a friend of mine constantly ignores my advice to check the time/date on his camera; on every battery swap, the cam creates a very erratic timestamp ... his actual recordings are listed as made in "2004" or in "2020" .... )

Betty - very true and it depends on your needs - Flash and AE
are very different programs for very
different reasons and sometimes they can overlap in very
creative ways. If all you want to do is
create content for FLV in AE - than go for it - if you want
to create vector-based animation and/or
add robust interactivity using actionScript, then Flash is
the right tool. Sometimes it isn't
choosing one over the other but rather combining both for an
even better experience.

We know nothing about your system or any otehr details, so this is not going anywhere. As a stasrt, trash the prefs, flush the cache, remove any third-party plug-ins and scripts. For anything else you wil lhave to provide exact system info and crash details:

I continuously see this and it will not open. I have opened it on previous builds on this platform. I have been on for hours with technical support and they cant figure it out. one guy said it was a bios setting for ASUS but I can not find the setting to change it if it is.
I am running an ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 AM3 AMD 990FX SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard,

Effects won't work on Text in After Effects

I must be missing some crucial step because I can't get effects to work on my text. I downloaded After Effects CC. I write text, put a solid, ramped background, add an effect, add a keyframe for the effect and see nothing. I copy what tutorials tell me. Nothing. Should if be difficult to see these effects? I tried CC Light Rays and Light Sweep. Just any effect in general won't apply to a text. I can't see it in FULL rendering or in Half/Rough Draft (which is where I want to work).

After Effects won't start Media Encoder

I'm trying to render from After Effects through Adobe Media Encoder, but the link will not work. I tried using Ctrl+Alt+M, and I tried opening it from the drop down menu. AE simply won't work with AME.
It worked before I upgraded to CC 2014, and I can still render out of AME through Premiere CC 2014.

Larchuck on another thread suggested this and it helped me as well. He was using windows 8 and I, 7, but it worked
Get Properties on the AME .exe
Under Compatibily Tab I checked "Run this program in compatibily mode for:" and selected windows 8
Hit apply
AME opens.
I went back to the Compatibilty Tab and unchecked "Run this program in compatibily mode for:" and I also clicked the button above it (Run compatibility troubleshooter)...went through its process and AME is woking again.
Turning it off again didn't work for me though so I'm leaving it on

After Effects won't start

downloaded the trial from cloud, it works fine untill I restart my computer, cloud still works fine but when I try to open after effects it simply won't run. double clicking does nothing, the icon is basically a waste of space after i restart my computer. I also notice that after I restart cloud always has an update to fix the bugs in after effects cc, but that doesn't help the start-up either. Can anyone help? thanks!

Without system information, all this is useless.
