After ejecting iPod in iTunes

Hi,
This is not really a problem, but when I've Ejected my iPod Nano in iTunes, and I yet want to load music onto it, how do I reconnect the iPod (without having to pull the USB-cable out of my computer, having it to think, pushing the USB-cable into my computer, having it to think long)?
Thanks,
Jurriaan

From what I know, that is what you have to do.
Now, when iTunes is done updating the Do Not Disconnect should disappear from your iPod. (And the main menu appears). When that happens, there is no need to actually hit eject. Then when you want to update again, go to file-->update iPod in iTunes.
But once you eject it, Windows will not see it again until it is reinsterted.

  • Cannot update or eject Ipod using Itunes 7.

    Hey all.
I can see that Itunes 7 is giving people quite a bit of grief. I have installed it and when i try and update my 60GB Ipod with version 1.2 (my current version is 1.1) it comes up with the message "Ipod cannot be updated because it contains files that are in use by another application". It will not let me eject my Ipod through itunes for the same reason, i have to eject it using Windows.
I have tried with three different Ipods and it is the same for all of them. I have also tried resetting my Ipod manually with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I am posting a possible solution to all these problems I and so many of you have said you've experienced. I think I had two things working against me:
    1) I did not have a 2.0 USB port when trying to update my ipod to version 1.2. I think this effected the connection and iTunes ability to recognize my iPod.
Anyway, I put in a new USB 2.0 card in my computer, giving me new ports off the mother board, and my connection and update worked.
    2) I was not giving it enough time. After I installed the USB card and everything I tried to update my iPod a couple of times, but still had a long slow stall that I did not wait through. I kept at it though and a few days later I set it up to update and left to go out to dinner. Hours late I came back and found things different. I used windows to disconnect my iPod and then noticed a dark "working" bar on my iPod. It was finally updating the device. I waited a while unitl it was finished and then diconnected and ever since then I've got version 1.2 on the iPod and things are working better.
So, my advice: check your USB ports and then give it a few hours.
I really hope this works for you. I worked on this problem for two months and I'm so glad it finally came through. I wish Apple would post some more resolutions that are better than mine.
    Good luck,
    Galahad

  • Podcasts/Playlists do not appear after synching iPod in iTunes 8.1.0.52

Since being upgraded to the above-referenced version of iTunes, I have been unable to successfully synchronize my main iPod (160 GB). In particular, the folders for my various playlists appear in the iPod, but there are no songs. (Other than the one for Xmas songs, all are checked to synch with the iPod in iTunes.) The songs are all on the iPod (or at least as far as I can tell--I have in excess of 13,000 songs on it).
Nothing appears in the Podcast folder (I have in excess of 100 podcasts that should be in this folder). I found the individual podcasts filed as songs, but again, no podcasts in the folder.
In addition, as is apparently the case with many people who have been upgraded to iTunes 8.1, the program crashes frequently.
None of these problems occurred with the prior iTunes version.
Thank you for your attention to this issue.

Hi,iTunes doesn't change tags like that.It can't update anything automatically, and the only time it goes online to get track info is when you rip a CD.
WMP does get track info from the internet. The setting for that is in 3 places in WMP. The player, privacy, and the library tabs.

  • Ejecting iPod from iTunes

It seems whenever I update my iPod, and the iPod update is complete message comes up I try to to eject my iPod, but after several seconds of no response, a message pops up saying iPod cannot be ejected because some of its files are still in use. What does this mean, and how do I stop this?
PS: Could this have something to do with the fact that the artwork I use on my one and only podcast cast subscription is being randomly shown on whole albums of mine? Two albums I have that I know about show the correct artwork in iTunes, but not on the iPod itself.

Try exiting iTunes and then using Windows to eject the iPod (either find it in "My Computer" and select it and eject it or use the icon that appears in your system tray when you plug in the iPod - down by your computer's clock - to pull up a box from which you can select the iPod and "stop" it).

  • Computer Ejects iPod When iTunes starts up

Please help!!! I have read every forum and tried zillions of things to get things working without any joy.
When I connect my iPod it shows up in my computer, but then as soon as itunes opens (and it does so automatically) the computer ejects the ipod so it no longer appears in my computer and cant sync with itunes; itunes cant detect it.
    Its a 5th gen Ipod
Im running windows 7 32 bit
I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes about 5 times (mmost recently an hr ago)
I have updated my drivers through device manager
Its not the usb cord/port as my old crusty ipod still connects fine!
Please help! It is driving me batty!!!!!!!!

What other burning software do you use on your PC? There is a reason why this happens. When an application (such as Roxio, Nero, iTunes, etc.) is installing a driver file (as a .SYS) or replacing a working driver file that is referenced within your registry. For some people, the replaced driver is still referenced by either an UpperFilterCheck or a LowerFilterCheck, and the device manager is actually seeking out that file that, well... no longer exists. Or, when you try and uninstall the application (iTunes is the frequent transgressor) everything is removed, including the related driver files, but the registry isn't altered... so the device manager continues to try and locate that driver file... which no longer exists...
First, I would tell you to go to your computer manufacturer's website and download all new driver's for your optical drives. Run CD Diagnostics in iTunes and post them here if you still have problems. Here is an Apple Article that discusses this issue:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976
There are other work arounds as well if you want to know that. Post back if you still have problems.

  • Ejecting iPod freezes iTunes

I have a 30 gb iPod and I'm using the latest version of iTunes (7.1.1?). My problem is that whenever I try to eject my iPod, iTunes freezes. I've searched on the forums, but its different from most of the ejecting-problem posts I have read. I get no "its used by another application" message. The hard drive on the iPod doesnt seem to be spinning anymore so I dont think it is just taking a long time to eject. I have tried ejecting the iPod from My Computer and that works, but afterwards, when I plug iPod back in, iTunes detects it as a new iPod and proceeds with deleting everything on it and resyncing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same thing.  It started this week.  I have the most recent version of iTunes.  My ipod Touch and iPad Air 2 work fine.  When I eject my (brand new) Nano, the nano ejects, but iTunes freezes.  I have to go and force it to close.
    Help please.
    Cheers,

  • Cannot eject iPod  from iTunes Window

When I try to eject my iPod from the iTunes screen I get a "Windows - No Disk" pop up error saying that there is no disk in the drive, put a disk into the H drive. I also get an iTunes message alert that The iPod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application. I can see the iPod name in Windows Explorer and I can safely eject using the XP Window's "Safely Remove Hardware" feature, but I want to fix this problem and free up whatever file that is being used by another application.

Are you using any third party applications to access/manage your iPod. I know that Red Chair Anapod causes this conflict with iTunes and I'm sure that other applications do to. Try uninstalling iTunes and then reinstalling the latest version.

  • Mpeg-4 movie shows up when synced but after ejecting ipod the file is gone

I downloaded and saved a 25-minute mpeg-4 movie. I opened itunes and successfully transferred the movie and then converted the file format. itunes shows that I have a folder called movies under library and also a music video folder. I've managed to get the movie to show up in both of these folders.
The problem is that neither of these folders are shown on my ipod and even after syncing there is now way for me to find the movie file. I'm not sure what to do since this is the first time i've tried to download/sync/watch a movie.
    I have a color, 20g ipod.
    thanks,
    rob

I guess I do have the Ipod photo but there is a pre-installed folder on my ipod that is labeled music video - hmmm......
Also, I took some 15 minute videos with my nikon digital camera and they were stored on my computer as quicktime movies (.mov). When I transferred photos taken from the trip these movies transferred to my ipod and played perfectly. I didn't do anything or download any special software. So I assumed that this was a feature of my ipod.
    Any other comments?

  • Error message when ejecting ipod from itunes

WHen i press eject next to my ipod in my library, an error message pops up stating "the ipod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application." What does that mean and how do i make it go away without messing up my ipod? ANyone have answers?

Easy way. Reset the iPod, then disconnect when you see the Apple logo.
Another way. Hold ctr-alt-del to bring up the Windows Task Manager. Go to the Processes tab and look for iTunesHelper.exe and iPodService.exe. Select them and hit the End Process button. Close the Windows Task Manager Window and try ejecting the iPod via the safely remove hardware method.
If you are still having problems you can try one more thing. Right click on the My Computer icon and select Manage from the list of actions. Go to the Services and Applications item and from there the services item. Double click on the services item to bring up the list of services currently installed on your computer. Look for the iPod Service and double click on it. From the new window select Stop. Now try again to eject using the safely remove hardware option.
Some anti-virus security software (particularly McAfee) can also cause a problem, and if you have this you might want to try turning it off and see if the iPod then ejects correctly.

  • Trouble ejecting iPod in Win2000

    Hi all,
I have a small issue with an iPod 5th Gen Video in Windows 2000. Each time I try to eject / unmount the iPod, it is ejected, then it re-mounts immediately; so I cannot disconnect the cable because the iPod is always in use.
    Same issue happens when
    - ejecting iPod from iTunes (both eject buttons at the bottom or in the source list);
    - ejecting iPod from USB Device Manager; when I click on "Eject", the iPod unmounts then mounts back immediately;
    - ejecting the iPod in Explorer (Right-clic, then "Eject").
So far to avoid any problem, I just disconnect the iPod after I shut down the computer. But I would like to know if there is a way to fix this.
    More info:
    - no error message at any time. The iPod can be ejected correctly, but it mounts back in Explorer and iTunes immedialtely after it was ejected. On iPod, menu appears for approx. 1 second, then the display goes back to "Do not disconnect"
    - iTunes 7.0.2.16
    - Windows 2000 (5.00.2195) SP4
    - iPod connected at the back USB port of my computer
    - USB 2.0 on motherboard MSI KT4 Ultra (MS-6590)
    - iPod software 1.2.1
    - Model MA003FB - Format: Windows
    Already tried:
    - reinstall iTunes -> same problem
    - reset iPod -> same problem
    - restored iPod -> did not help
    - connected iPod in another admin user -> same problem
    - tried on another USB port -> same issue
What I don't understand : I also have an iPod Mini (2nd Gen), which is working perfectly fine. With this, the eject process is OK.
    Any other idea ?
Thanks in advance for your replies,
    Phil
    MA003FB   Windows 2000

    Additional info :
    1. Same iPod 5th Gen (Model MA003FB - Format: Windows) behave perfectly at eject on a Mac OS X system.
    2. iPod is set for manually sync because library too big for an auto sync.

First time user on any discussion board. After loading IPOD and itunes, access to CD Drive disappeared. Got the following message. "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)".
I removed the IPOD and itune program hoping the acces would return. Believe I can get help from a local technician to restore access to drive, BUT AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN I TRY TO LOAD THE PROGRAM.

    hi Barbara!
"This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)".
    for that one, see:

(note that despite the title there is at least one other cause of the code 31 listed on the document.)

    Hello, cgtyoder.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try resetting the iPod and power cycling your Mac to see if this message disappears.  If the issue persists you may need to restore the device to factory settings.  The article below will walk you through both these steps.
